Hello. Thanks very much for this video. I've been trying for so long to update 8 to 8.1. Whenever I try to do it however, at the "Choose what to keep" screen, it only gives me the option of Nothing. This is very frustrating as I have so many Apps and Programs installed. Any ideas? I've tried both the English US & International ISOs and its the same for both. Really confused. 🤷♂️
That is very strange. If you do this: If you can't keep all of your files and apps during the upgrade, try this! Open CMD as Admin and run the following command: dism /online /get-intl Next, have a look at the "Default system UI language" and use that when downloading the ISO file. What language does it display? It might help you in determining where the issue is.
If you're version of Windows is English, download the US ISO first and run the setup. If you can keep your files and apps like I show in the video then you can go ahead with the US ISO, if you can't, stop the process and download the English International ISO.
Believe it or not but people still bring laptops to me running on Windows 8/8.1 - They should be using Windows 10 which is why I linked my upgrade guide at the end of this video. This video is just a stepping stone & another chance for my content to be seen.
Some machines cannot run win 10 or 11, I have very interesting tablet running win8 and it has intel atom cpu and 2gb of ram which is abysmal for win 10 not to mention that win 10 would not be able to use integrated graphics core. Edit. It is not my main machine in 2024, obviously, but little hobby thing On the side note I wonder if there is a better browser for such system than Firefox

Yeah as long as you have the option selected to keep all files you won't lose anything.

Sorry my friend but I can't help with that. I suggest that you get an SSD to speed up your laptop because Windows 8 is not supported anymore.
followed the microsoft link and there is nothing to select to download. is there a different link or have they removed it?
