This is a very well put together video. Personally, I have been onboard tweaking and optimizing windows for many many years, although lately I've found things are very, very intertwined system wise, which might lead to many problems, some apparent, some latent. That's the reason why I've opted to not tweak windows anymore. However, for those that do want to tweak with it, this was a very clear, very practical video. Alas, it appears that the user does not have any control if the utility installs any other script or even executable, which to me might represent a severe security breach.
This is great windows update broke my start menu.. put open shell onto the system through this SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better... I feel liberated and I have a start menu again.
Love this. I've been running either Debian, Zorin, or Mint for 5 years and kicked MS out of bed, or so I thought. Last week I bought a Lenovo Yoga Thin 7 14" Snapdragon X Elite, and it obviously came with WIndows. I've been stripping and removing telemetry for a couple days, and it is such a pain. This app would have cut my adoption time down by a factor of 10 (I'm guessing). I'll be on Windows (reluctantly again) until the folks at Mint get their Distro to run on the Snapdragon X ARM.
Much apreciated! Had a lot of those scripts installed before, manually. This is a godsend, if you know what youre doing. Is there a MicroWin equivalent for Windows 10?
I want to Thank You for your excellent video and work on the Answer File. I have been a Computer Consultant since 1982. Windows is full of junk and more gets added with each version. Please keep up the Good Fight!!!
No need! Already done it myself and I only used it to install programs like chrome, blender, discord, etc without needing to go to websites. Awesome tool but you don’t want to do too much.
I use choco for most used software. If I select software already installed by choco will it install duplicate, or Chris Titus will recognise that software is already installed ??
I stopped using Windows 15 years ago but when I got back into electronics was forced to get one, nearly all of the apps for things like o-scopes only run on Windows. I had completely forgotten how icky it is out of the box, had no idea this existed, thanks.
It shows how Windows is not created for your benefit. This tool is a good start to limit MS power over you. Start with checking out the tweaks section. Complimenten, Chris!
100% agreed but why would they make it for your benefit? It’s a paid bit if software that 99% of people never pay for and they have zero obligation to make it the way you want it. Quite the opposite, they are a public company that has a legal fiduciary duty to make as much profit as possible.
Thanks for the upload. I find it hard to recommend it to my peers, because 1. It can break the OS if used wrong and 2. even when i was here helping debloating, Windows WILL revert it bit by bit with their updates. This is why i always carry a Ventoy boot drive with Windows LTSC, Linux Mint and ZorinOS. Best regards 🥰

Windows 11 is the reason I switched to an Apple environment. Still using Win 10 on a PC for gaming shenanigans but regular work is just a pain in the neck on a Windows machine nowadays
only bad things about his script is it installs chocolatey wether you want it or not, use it or not. and it's intentional, not going to get "fixed". theres a fix in github issues, you can run the script with a modifier that stops it from happening.
@@mrlucmorin right so I'm supposed to use this uninstaller script and then manually uninstall the crap it leaves behind? Not to mention I have no idea where it leaves chocolatey it's not like it's in the add/remove programs dialogue.
@@GizmoTheGreen Then by all means don't use it. There's tons of shit getting installed by "legit" software anyway, and they're not as friendly as Chocolatey.
@@mrlucmorin the issue is its trivial to prompt about installing chocolatey for the few packages that require it or if winget fails, instead it's silently installed in the background very opposite of the goal of the script.

As far as I know, it actually installs chocolatey and winget. It might have changed, because there's also nuget now, and I think Chris changed it to Winget/Nuget. Could be wrong though.
The advice they should give you is that if you are unsure nor understand what its doing, just don't use it. TBH, I've done tests with and without and the performance difference is so small, its not worth it.
I'm sorry but, this is throwing off all kinds of security red flags. Just because nothing is downloaded to your computer doesn't mean squat. Imagine if the tool is hacked where it resides centrally and now everyone who uses it automatically has the hacked code running on their computer if they run this. This is a huge yikes. That's not hate, that's common sense and IT security/safety. You want an actual useful powershell command? Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy Restricted
@@lussor1 Yes, that would be very bad. And we have already seen instances of supply chain corruption in libraries and tooling used in central repositories. A really good example of that is the ms powershell repository. You can even spoof official scripts or make it look like you own them when you don't.
Thanks for god information! Im only missing one thing I personally consider a fairly important thing: you didn't mention that is useful (if you use the tool for the first time or after making changes outside of the room that affect it), is to click "Get installed" button before changing selections. This will make sure you have a better overview of your current status.
Literally did this this morning after watching Chris Titus my computer, which is brand new had 215 processes running before I even installed programs on it I was furious. You definitely shouldn't be running scripts on your computer that is from unknown sources. The Chris Titus Windows Utility is not from an unknown source though, and the code is all open source. There's nothing malicious in it.
Word of caution: the tool doesn't directly mention it, but CT personally dislikes Win Defender and therefore the tool will disable and isolate it (can't be reactivated). The script doesn't offer an exception or revert option.

In 2025, there are still people using the Windows operating system. I can't understand how people can be so naive to use such a slow, terrible system that spies on users and is paid, not free. It has many issues, such as sudden crashes, black screens, blue screens, and more. On the other hand, there's Linux, which is incredibly powerful and secure, free forever, and respects your privacy. It offers complete freedom and customization. It's safe, and you can do anything you want with it. Nowadays, you can even play major video games on Linux without any issues, including playing Steam games smoothly. You can also perform tasks like video editing, design, 3D modeling, and graphics work easily and seamlessly without any problems. For newcomers to Linux, there's a great distribution called Linux Mint. It's powerful, lightweight, and has a user interface similar to Windows, making it easy for any beginner or new user coming from Windows to transition seamlessly.
I think everyone agrees windows is a trash OS but they use it cause it was more support and apps than what Linux does for example adobe apps, other 3D modelling apps like maya and etc

You all have filled my heart with joy. Thank you for your kind words!
Chris Titus is great guy. Great tool to make Windows comfortable to use.
Nice i have done one cleaner file which cleans all temporary files and extra files also logs will b provided at last. Your development is really helpful ❤
As of August 1st Edge slipped back into my machine. I think Microsoft has caught on
This is a great tutorial! Highly informative and no stupid music in the background ❤
Thanks for sharing this. I just got W11. It is going to be very useful.
Thanks for the great walk through. I love Chris’s videos, but your style of direction is much nicer for this sort of video. Liked and sub’ed.
Thanks for the vid, that video about MicroWin would also be great!
Keep an eye out for it! I'm quite busy, but I will make the video sometime.
This tool is a life saver for my work laptop 🔋for nearly 4 years
Update : I have multiple software installed by choco, and in Chris Titus I only selected Audacity, but after I did click Update All, and Chris Titus is updating All installed on my laptop :) ...is good or bad varies :) ...posted as information comment ... Regardless cool software Thank You
I'm not sure about this. I think you should click on the "Install/Upgrade Selected" not the "all" button.
Hey, "Upgrade all" will upgrade everything installed and supported by winget. @memstechtips is right here, in that case you should click "install/upgrade selected"
i have seen this project from being created from scratch!
it seems so awesome and clean now
Brilliant video . Thank You :)
Thanks so much!
What a great complete video! definatelly gonna try soon! looks like a really powerfull and USEFUL tool. thanks for this video.
I use this for everything besides installs i have a harddrive that has all my essential installs, the tweaks and config are great.
Nice! 😀
This is great windows update broke my start menu.. put open shell onto the system through this SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better... I feel liberated and I have a start menu again.
didn't know for this tool, cant wait to try it, thx
Have fun!
Great explaination
My system recently got corrupted and I am reinstalling windows. This will make it an absolute breeze! Thank you.
Glad you found the video useful!
Glad you found the video useful and that the utility made Windows a little bit more usable for you.
Thanks for the video; great job explaining how it works. Much appreciated.
My pleasure, I'm glad you like it!
Super Video my dude thank you I appreciate you for this❤
I'm actually writing my own utility but the Chris Titus Tech Winutil is awesome!
Link it
It's really well developed. Yeah, be sure to share your utility too!
@@SoloRedacted Just linked it as a reply to @memstechtips 's comment.
Also if anyone reading this knows Batch I'd appreciate some contributions 😂
Ok this is cool AF. Great vid! And thanks for letting us know about this one!
Much apreciated! Had a lot of those scripts installed before, manually. This is a godsend, if you know what youre doing. Is there a MicroWin equivalent for Windows 10?
Removing Edge break things
I want to Thank You for your excellent video and work on the Answer File. I have been a Computer Consultant since 1982. Windows is full of junk and more gets added with each version. Please keep up the Good Fight!!!
After we use your UnattendedWinstal, should we tweak windows again with CTT utility or not?
No need! Already done it myself and I only used it to install programs like chrome, blender, discord, etc without needing to go to websites. Awesome tool but you don’t want to do too much.
Like I said in the video, after Windows Updates are installed, it can be good to run the Utility again.
Thank you for your time and effort. You have the most concise & comprehensive content. Baie waardeer.
I use choco for most used software. If I select software already installed by choco will it install duplicate, or Chris Titus will recognise that software is already installed ??
I replied to your other comment. 😀
This utility is excellent. I have been using it on every windows install for the past 2 years
Awesome! It's really good and just keeps on improving.
I stopped using Windows 15 years ago but when I got back into electronics was forced to get one, nearly all of the apps for things like o-scopes only run on Windows. I had completely forgotten how icky it is out of the box, had no idea this existed, thanks.
Took me a couple of moments to realise that you’re not actually from the future 😂
Just got back into Windows for the same reason, electronic software only available for Windows. I get your point.
@@DeanMurphyCDMI’m half asleep and I read it 3 times before I realized I was doing the same thing 😂
Great video sir ❤
It shows how Windows is not created for your benefit. This tool is a good start to limit MS power over you. Start with checking out the tweaks section.
Complimenten, Chris!
Agreed!
Windows is now Software As A Service... sucks, and likely to get worse with future iterations of the OS.
Me watching this and casually looking at Task Manager to find 292 Processes / 8600 Threads / 167000 Handles. 😭😅
I was considering running this a while back but decided ill wait till I can get a new NVMe for my game drive; and repurpose my 2TB 980 Pro and do a fresh Windows install
Hopefully it makes a difference for you!
Holy shit this is incredible, I had the process cound went from 210 to 130, Incredible
Cure my ignorance. Did you say this program works with a PowerShell connection to a remote server?!?!? How is this not a potential security risk? This isn't an attack on Chris. I'm just saying, in general, why are you comfortable with this?
You can go to github and look at the code, it's open source.
This is excellent - cheers.
Cheers! Glad you like it.
What about ninite for installing apps?
Also very good, I use it too.
Windows 11 is the reason I switched to an Apple environment. Still using Win 10 on a PC for gaming shenanigans but regular work is just a pain in the neck on a Windows machine nowadays
The best free Windows utility is... Linux.
😁
lol 😀
Running it now, thank you!
only bad things about his script is it installs chocolatey wether you want it or not, use it or not.
and it's intentional, not going to get "fixed".
theres a fix in github issues, you can run the script with a modifier that stops it from happening.
I can understand how that can be a pain for some.
Ever heard of uninstall?
Hi great video, if can i ask u can use it more than once?
Watching the entire vid would answer your question.
Do i need it if i already used your auto unattend file to install a clean version of windows?
No not really, but you could run the tweaks after Windows update every once in a while.
@@memstechtips alright thanks man! Appreciate the help with your videos :D
Thanks for a great video. When I run this utility I see an "Enumeration Error" but it still works.
Memory hates Edge with passion
LOL. I don't actually, but I want to be able to uninstall it easily hehe.
I like the Chris Titus Utility a lot. I will always use that if I'm on Windows.
WinAero Tweaker does the same for a looong time
Also a good app, but not exactly the same.
Good for them!
Tbh all the hate for a free program that actually helps. At this point I’m starting to believe someone running a bot farm with all of them commenting something negative. Cause it crazy. They’ll say some negative shit then never respond back.
from 5%-15% cpu usage in idle to 10%-35% in idle, great utility :D
LOL.
10%-35% wasn't in idle, Windows Update was running. Check 18:40
Thanks mate!
Can you disable Bill Gates?
You may want to read up on the guy you're trying to flame here. I recommend starting with the year 2000.
Titus is awesome, and he has kept getting better !
1:25 Nuh uh, It installs chocolatey package manager.
Not anymore I think.
it got rebased to winget iirc, which is on windows 11 by default for a while now.
As far as I know, it actually installs chocolatey and winget. It might have changed, because there's also nuget now, and I think Chris changed it to Winget/Nuget. Could be wrong though.
Oh no, Earth is going to implode!
thanks man i really shock this work insanely
How do you know the security is OK?
It's just a Power shell script that you can read yourself to check.
It’s a fully open source script that is developed by a trusted person in the community.
Yes, it's fully open source, meaning you can go and look at the code.
The advice they should give you is that if you are unsure nor understand what its doing, just don't use it. TBH, I've done tests with and without and the performance difference is so small, its not worth it.
The fact that you make this comment exposes your ignorance of the subject…
OMG i love this, esp the F8 and remove telemetry-best!!!!, how can i suggest to add apps on your list? thanks
This isn't my app, but you can visit the GitHub page and create an issue or discussion there with your suggestions.
Github being hacked you say
@@lussor1 Yes, that would be very bad. And we have already seen instances of supply chain corruption in libraries and tooling used in central repositories. A really good example of that is the ms powershell repository. You can even spoof official scripts or make it look like you own them when you don't.
Thanks for god information!
Im only missing one thing I personally consider a fairly important thing: you didn't mention that is useful (if you use the tool for the first time or after making changes outside of the room that affect it), is to click "Get installed" button before changing selections. This will make sure you have a better overview of your current status.
real
😀
Literally did this this morning after watching Chris Titus my computer, which is brand new had 215 processes running before I even installed programs on it I was furious. I ran Chris Titus‘s latest powershell, 40 processes in my computer runs like one of those computers that you’re rich cousin has that you hate. I even won Fortnite today three times 3FN times!
I Am not saying its true here, but isn't this an easy way for someone to hack your system?
You definitely shouldn't be running scripts on your computer that is from unknown sources. The Chris Titus Windows Utility is not from an unknown source though, and the code is all open source. There's nothing malicious in it.
Generally yes. Which is why I would recommend not running this tool this way unless you understand what it does.
one of the best, maybe even the best free tool to rid your windows of bloat and tracking, yet ppl talk smack because stupid.
🤣
Word of caution: the tool doesn't directly mention it, but CT personally dislikes Win Defender and therefore the tool will disable and isolate it (can't be reactivated). The script doesn't offer an exception or revert option.
Wtf would he do that? So stupid
@@DavidG2P no the thing on default dont remove the win defender. there is an option to turn it on/off again. it will be the same as it was before on default.
I did the thing in your video about "cleanest windows version ever" (It's a thumbnail title) while installing win 10 and it is fantastic
Do I still need this utility for further performance?
Linux is bad for gaming. And for a os that is all about freedom is too dependent on valve for gaming. You get much more gaming freedom in windows.
@@gearfriedtheswmas no isnt. in Linux you can even play major video games on Linux without any issues, including playing Steam games smoothly. You can also perform tasks like video editing, design, 3D modeling, and graphics work easily and seamlessly without any problems.
BUT CAN YOU GAME ON LINUX? OH YES, BUT WITH A LOT OF EFFORTS AND NOT EVERY GAME IS SUPPORTED.
Calling people naive because they use windows is complete ignorance, or maybe insulting arrogance.
If you are happy with Linux, good for you. But those who use Windows do it for reasons other than naivety.
That’s A great video THANKS a bunch
Or switch to linux 🐧
In the future yes, not right now.
That's a whole new can of worms.
the best channel for windows optimization
