Eminem is the reason I like lyrical rap artists. He's help me appreciate word play and the art of it. He's the reason I got into poetry.

I am a 73 year old Australian and its because of Eminem that I got exposed to rap and I love it black or white don't matter to me talent is thank you for this post love and peace.
I came across "the monster" by em when i was 15, from there i started to listen to his other tracks and then other artists and now my playlists are 100% rap musics and i am from Indonesia, he really brought me into this genre and i am glad because of it.
Let me tell you something, as someone who lives in the Middle East, I can GUARANTEE you that we would not have known about the existence of rap without Eminem. The first rap song I ever heard was “The Real Slim Shady”. How dare they say that their precious hip hop would not be affected without Eminem? He literally put rappers on the world map, they barely even existed without him. These rappers are being RACIST, plain and simple, it’s pathetic.

I'm Nigerian & from a very young age, I have been listening to rap & hip hop. But the first time I heard "kill you" by Eminem, I got hooked & he has been my favourite rapper ever since.
I can't count the number of my peeps who started listening to rap after they heard me listening to Em.
And certain people are going to come with this agenda & try to make Em ordinary? It's a big shame.
What's more shameful is that some of these people complain about racism & being oppressed all the time, that they don't even realise when they are doing some racist s**t (or may be they do...)

In Sweden at Eminem concert was 60.000 people he broked the record in Sweden and it was even the prime minister of Sweden to see Eminem . In Denmark at Roskilde festival the tickets for Eminem was sold in a few minutes. The world loves Eminem ❤️👏🤗 We love him and respect him so much here in Europe. ❤️👏🤗

I'm from the netherlands, watched him live twice. When his second cd came out and i saw dutch money and pictures of amsterdam on the album i was so hyped. Eminem is incredible, everybody was hyped beyond hype when he first came out.
I am from a little ol state in the USA called Rhode Island and we all have love and mad respect for Em and those who don't just hate him because they ain't him point blank period.
I'm in jamaica and I remember when i was in high school years ago my English teacher use to use some of em lyrics to show us how to use metaphors,syllables etc so outside of rap he has plenty of influence also i swear we don't give em his credit I'm so disappointed in royce I wouldn't have known about him if it wasn't for Em

So I was also disappointed in Royce in what he said about Em because Em has always talked positive about Royce and constantly puts him on his albums and brings him out on his concerts to help his friend get more noticed in world.

When I was studying English Lit my poetry professor used to use Eminem's lyrics when talking about how to use the syllables/rhymes to form perfect flow in the stanzas

As someone who hasn’t enjoyed a majority of Em’s music since recovery, I think the answer is a blend of both. If he was black, he’d be another Black Thought/Raekwon/Lupe Fiasco. He’d be an alien but he wouldn’t have the commercial appeal of being the greatest rapper ever while also being a white rapper. His whiteness contributed to being accepted by people who hated rap music because it was predominantly black music. There’s no erasing Em from hip hop because he’s the best blend of mainstream and underground.
Moreno Carlos his first three albums SSLP, MMLP and Eminem show and then the release of 8 Mile and Lose Yourself would of kept him above those you name, it’s interesting to follow because he had that same shock value as Big L and Big L died before he could reach the next level of being a star, if he would of.
Malakai Riker he also wouldn’t have gone through the same struggles as he did if he was any other color. His whiteness helped him out in some regards and it’s also contributed to him always being an outcast in hip hop even if he’s the best rapper ever. He would have never had the fanbase he had without him being white, but if he was black he would have been accepted right away in hip hop
As someone not being from the US, Eminem's influence on rap internationally is the main reason I like and appreciate hip hop, and not to mention countless talented rappers that i would've no idea about being someone who were not born with rap music if not for Eminem. Kendrick, Cole, Young MA, Drake, Wayne, Royce.. the list goes on

I remember being like 7 years old sneaking my CD player in my catholic school uniform listening to “without me” while my class was walking to the park lol. One of the biggest things about this whole topic that blows my mind is that Em has been not only one of the LEAST controversial people *to* hip hop, he's very clearly one of hip hops greatest allies. He lives and breathes hip hop. He loves and respects and hip hop, its forefathers, guardians, and youngbloods SO MUCH. He's never betrayed hip hop. If it was hip hop against the world, Em would be on the front lines covered in blood.
There is NO REASON to ever even question whether Eminem belongs. Anyone questioning whether he belongs in hip hop is either a traitor to hip hop or a racist. Period.

And what I really really love about Stevie is that he's honest, respectful, critical, appreciative and can happily give roses and complaints in equal measure, all while freely stating that he's NOT an Em fan....he doesn't listen to his music irl and he's not in his favourite playlists......yet that doesn't matter a FUCK because real still recognise real, and Stevie's a student of the game who can recognise and respect those worthy of it, OUTSIDE his own biases. That's why he's my fav. I think that ability is so freaking dope and makes me respect Stevie 10 times more. It means he's honest and real....which makes it all mean so much more.

Crooked is so on point. I was a teenager when Eminem came out, and I was attending a predominantly white high school. The year Em dropped had everyone, including myself, listening to him and created a connection between me and my peers that transcended any color divide that might have existed. They started listening to all types of hip hop too as a result. That was a special time to live through musically as well as socially.
Yo, I remember Dre before he met EM...He was somewhat fading after he left Deathrow...people understood he was nice, but he wasn't making hits like he used too. When he signed EM the resurgence came back for DRE. He dropped his own album that sold great and the story goes on...I remember all of that stuff as an oldhead...the problem is that it's now it's okay to disrespect white people now...That's why all of a sudden people are taking shots at EM...

I was and still am heavily into Metal and Rock. If not for Eminem, I would have never ventured into Rap and discovered so many artists and music that I now listen to everyday.

Deep respect to both of you gentlemen for speaking these hard truths. I am a rarity being an older white woman who did listen to all music including very early hip hop and rap because in the 60s, 70s, and 80s people didn’t restrict themselves to one genre of music. I have a cat named Grandmaster Flash who along with Kurtis Blow were the first hip hop artists I heard BECAUSE hip hop was accepted in the disco world. Those guys WERE popular in white culture because of the dance aspect of hip hop. Then rap battling became more well known and of course the white world didn’t understand that...even those of us who were dirt poor. Cypress Hill was about the only group that became popular with some white people until Run DMC and LL Cool J who were popular with a lot of whites. Honestly, in the world I lived in we didn’t feel a connection to the gang rap battle aspect of hip hop/rap until N.W.A. blew it all up with Straight Outta Compton. BTW? Beastie Boys did help white rap fans keep the racist idiotic haters away when we were drooling over NWA. lol And even though the music industry tried very hard to squash hip hop and rap? There was no going back after Beastie Boys and NWA. You think I don’t snicker at the delicious irony when I watch Ice-T Mister “Cop Killer” play Det. Tutuola on Law & Order Special Victims? We had Vanilla Ice and honestly I thought he was ok, but it was like he did a pop/rap fusion that was like the bubblegum music I listened to when I was a young girl. Just music to dance to with some very catchy phrases, but it wasn’t substance. Then rap rolled mainstream. Like for real people were buying it even though the music industry snubbed it. Kid Rock was more popular than Em for awhile which is the biggest joke when I think about how that shit has gone down over the years. But Em came out dirt poor, self-deprecating, unsure, but talented beyond measure. For years I tried not to think of him as the greatest I had ever heard because I admit it felt wrong saying that about a scrawny white kid when I knew that rap was Black and how very important that was to Black culture and music created by Black musicians and entertainers. But Em always seemed so reverent with every delivery. And who am I to deny Em if Dr. Dre says it’s cool? Lyrically? I just don’t see many past or present who have dropped many bars that can compare with the overwhelming list of Eminem lines that are literally part of our language. Sorry for this tl;dr post, but I can’t sleep because of this division. I LOVE Snoop! From Gin & Juice to watching him cook & cuddle with Martha Stewart--Snoop does remember that young Black teenagers might be looking to Em for lyrical inspiration, but old, bitchy white ladies like me wanna see him in pajamas cooking breakfast with Martha so it all evens out....right? This whole thing hurts. How do we stop the “cancellation” of Eminem without damaging our love for Snoop? We have enough REAL hatred and division without creating division and hate where it doesn’t really exist. Facts! There's no comparison! When it comes to lyricism, Eminem stands alone at the top. I've listened to most of his catalog and I'm still catching bars that I didn't catch 20 years ago! It's amazing how much new bars I catch in all of his songs! So many double and triple entendres. So many different meanings to the same words. The way he's twists those words. The way he rhymes so many syllables on the same line. The incredible story telling without losing the integrity of his rhyming skills . The way he can tell a story and make you feel the emotion he is feeling while telling it. His powerful cadence. The way he can make you laugh at one thing and cry in the next. He's incredible. Eminem really got me listening to NWA, Snoop, Tupac, Biggie, Rakim, Redman, Lil Wayne, Royce, Nas, Big Daddy Kane, Kendrick etc.. Taking Eminem's existence out of hip hop, out of the culture would be like taking Michael Jordan's existence out of Sports.
I'm from South Asia. Eminem broke my hiphop/rap cherry in 2005. Then 50, then dre, pac, biggie etc etc.
Straight facts! 🔥 I'm from the Caribbean and it was Eminem that introduced me to Hip Hop in 1999 when "My Name Is" dropped. I've been riding with Shady ever since and I'm 32 now. Thanks to Em and my new love for Hip Hop, I started listening to other artists and Hip Hop/Rap became my favorite genre.

Kxng Crooked is a phenomenal lyricist and knows his sh¡t. One of my favorites from him is his part in the South Paw remix of Beast by Rob Bailey and The Hustle Standard. That way he put that all together, he out shined Busta and Tech, and I love them both as well.
When you have that caliber of talent coming to bat for you you know people are reaching for drama. I like Em but more importantly I respect his talent even if some of his stuff isn't my cup of tea.
That's facts, man. Eminem was the artist that got me into hip hop and rap when I was a kid.. That's how I ended up discovering other artists and really learning a lot more about the genre and culture..

As a youth Eminem opened me up to continuing my interest in hip hop. He was that dude could make you laugh and gasp at the way he could word his thoughts and poke your own imagination as you listen to his music. Didn't even matter what he was saying it was just very genius the way he made simple thoughts, feelings situations w/e they were unique. THE DUDES SPECIAL. Skin color, don't matter this dude has a fire pen and narrow focus that produces, music for the ages. The End.
That's real talk. Em was the first rap album I ever sat down and listened to at 14. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't know hip hop history. Em made me go back and listen to the MC's he said he was influenced by, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Treach, Mobb Deep, Big, Pac, Tribe, Pharcyde, Outkast, Jadakiss, Kurupt, Raz Kaz, NWA, Cube. I would've never knew Royce, Yela, and Kxng Crooked were dope AF. Em is a student of the game, and he stays teaching his listeners who influenced him. His pen game, his diction, his flow, his cadences, his story telling, his imagery, his complex schemes, syllables, double, triple, quadruple, entendres, homonyms, unmatched. He's my favorite rapper. I love K.Dot, Cole, mighty mos def, common, talib, etc. I go and listen to Jay and Nas and I love them and what their story is, but I always gravitate back toward Em because I relate to his struggle, sonically, content wise. Ultimately, your favorite artist comes down to your taste and what you relate to, but to say Em is not an MC or does a disservice to true Hip Hop, means you're not listening. He's a student of the game.

rap reactors really DID help me 'get' Eminem and how good he is, after a while you learn to listen and break a bit down yourself, but MAN I'm not even sure I would have started listening to rap if it weren't for the reactors breaking down Eminem which in turn made me an Eminem fan and then a rap fan.

I earned my degree in English and creative writing and I work as a full-time writer/editor. I also learned music theory and composition. Eminem has an unparalleled ability with words. His content may not be of interest to some fans or perhaps some of the beats are not a fan's particular style, but how he writes is beyond what most rappers - pretty much any rapper can do. Crook is amazing himself, so is Royce. I'd still say none of them are in the same league as far as writing. Eminem's flow styles are also sick as hell. He is diverse in his ability to switch up flows and cadence. My boyfriend is a drummer, Eminem actually can match certain drum patterns and styles while he rhymes. It's amazing.

I am from sri lanka and emine is the reason I start listen to hiphop then I start listen to 2pac,nas,50,dre and etc, so emine brought whole new fanbase to hiphop.
As an Army brat that lived in a lot of other countries, my experience is that Em was the FIRST global rap artist. In Turkey, in Japan, in Germany, in England. They didn't know anyone else but they knew Em. It's like when BTS blew up a couple of years ago. People couldn't name another Kpop group, but they knew about BTS.

I live in the UK. Everytime Eminem featured or features on another artist, I end up looking through their discovery. I am the type of person who buys albums and I have bought albums/music of artists such as Joyner, Royce, Slaughterhouse, Wayne, Anderson Paak, Snoop Dogg, Jay-z, 50 Cent, 2 Pac etc. Rappers never made it global before him, the whole demographic were African Americans. Check who are the most listened to rappers in each region/ country. China, Africa, Middle East, Europe. Eminem is in the top 3 of each one of these. I was in high school when "My name is.." came out and the moment I heard that song on TRL I instantly became a Stan. I would rather listen to Eminem than 80% of rappers out there and I am a Nigerian.

The First Em song I listened to was "Kill you"...MMLP just came out back then... I was in JSS3 or SS1... And that was it... He became my favourite rapper up till date. And I have been listening to rap even before i heard Em.

I'm from trinidad a small ass island wayyyy down in the caribbean and im black a muthafucka, eminem's music helped me tru alot of my depression and there was shit i could have relatd to and some i couldn't. I can admire his dedication to perfecting his craft, his mentality can be applied to other areas of life cuz his work ethic is freaking insane. I use that as a motivation to move forward in my own field of software engineering cuz the shit kicks my ass sometimes and i lose motivation.

I m a romanian, and even if I started listening to hip hop because of 2 romanian guys, Em introduced me to american hip hop. The first song was ''Not afraid'' on a TV music channel and I was dumb as fuck these days, couldn t get a word but I liked that anyways. Next thing I do is going to youtube and search for Eminem. Then youtube recommended me more and more american hip hop I started to actually want to learn english so I could understand what they re saying. What I wanted to say is that beside introducing me to hip hop, he actually made me learn a new language that I wasn t interested in before that. I know I don t speak it perfectlly right now, but I m just thankfull for that anyway. It helped me a lot over the years. And I m sure out there are many people like me.
And, about the thing you said about your videos. Yeah, first I listen to the song, I understand most of it, but then I listen to it a second time with the lyrics open and then I come to your or any reaction channel that I can fint to try an understand some bars that just go over my head because we don t use them in Romania or I basically don t know what s he talking about.

Shit I'll even say this, Eminem MADE Hip Hop fun again and made it about lyrics after he dropped his Kamikaze Album and he had the WHOLE INDUSTRY listen from, mumble rap, conscious rap, etc. He had them ALL listen, and that TIDAL WAVE has slowly been drowning mumble rap away and it inspired the MCs and Lyricists to make Rap/Hip Hop what it was again.

He definitely contributed to it with the album but in my opinion he’s contributed to the rise of real hip hop again in other ways than music etc Griselda, inspiring the newest gen of lyrical rappers, and probably a shit load of stuff we don’t even know about. I am from a humble place in the himalayas, 32 yr old now, i was introduced first to Rap/Hip hop by some kids who came back from the US and brought me a Casette of some group called Ruff ryders, i listened to it found it okay but tossed aside the cassette and threw in some pearl jam, then one day when i was going through a music store i saw a cassette bluish and written slim shady, i just bought it somehow, i dont know why, i was into rock n roll through and through, but when i put it on in my sony walkman, bro, i swear i was hooked, i bought every single album after that and then one day i bought one of 50 too and loved it. 30 years later i can safely say, all those times i literally tried to write his lyrics while he was rapping, it was such a struggle, i now realise that eminem's message is global and most of black american message is local, hardly any message besides jow they struggled in thier buildings and life, in their own way with local references, which the rest of us dont know about. We all struggle and suffer thats life but eminem's music kind of wants to lift you up when you're down, its motivating, its funny and fun too, its dark and comical and its very clever writing with all the yriple and quadruple entendres. I listened to hip hop because of eminem and later discovered MCs like mfdoom, ghost face killer, royce da 5'9, big pun, rakim(also one of my favs) Kendrick lamar, scarface, hopsin, and any other hip hop artist i now realise i know because i was lucky to listen to eminem. My friends know eminem even when they never listened to hip hop
