Eminem more relatable than most Black Rappers, and I'm from Africa.
Well Black Africans and Black Americans really don't have all that much of anything in common, so it's all about perspective really.
Most African Black people seem to hate American Black people, from my experience at least.
EDIT: I should've clarified that neither seem to have respect for each other, from my experience African people think of Black Americans as somewhat foolish/childish, I shouldn't have equated that to "hatred" while many Black Americans have 0 understanding of African culture or what the people are like and still try to call themselves "African" and attempting to identify with them, as if they're similar at all, while in person, it's usually a different story, as Black Americans sometimes treat native Africans as some sort of weird novelty and act generally pretty disrespectful.
But again, in my personal experience, I've only talked to some people from Africa who think Black Americans are pretty clown-ish in how they behave (as portrayed by the media, at least) so again, a subjective view.
Africans have almost nothing in common with black Americans
@@whatsittoya7568 Yes they do, they are the same race.

Lol shit I thought snoop was just doing lame commercials to try and be remembered.. had to say Em’s name to be put back on the map .. sad but true . Snoop needs some of that. Hater Aid
Snoop is a legend and influence no doubt but he is so pro black he has become mildly racist to me which resulted in him saying what he did. I used to follow and be up on his IG but since the shit starting to go down you can visually witness his change. It sucks and I won't let it color my impression of his music but it seemed like no one commented on it until now when Em is brought up.
That sucks too cause I feel Snoop should be important enough in the game to still have the industry notice what he posts up. If it was any of the active top tiers they would have posted about it, but they insult the people who helped build on the original designs by not caring.
Popularity and fame shouldn't be the measuring stick. Em is one of the greatest lyricists in the game, but his music doesn't move everyone. I like Em's music, but I don't LOVE it. I play lesser talented hip hop artists more often than Em. I don't confuse his fame and mic skills with how his music grabs me, and that is why I could list a number of artists ahead of him if I were to do a top 10 list. Stevie and many others are getting this all wrong, especially making this about him being "white". What Stevie and others fail to mention is that despite his skills and talent, if he were "black", he wouldn't have had the success that he has had. He would have likely been successful, but there is also a good chance that he wouldn't have even been on 50 Cent's level (which Em influenced) or even get a record deal. Em was Vanilla Ice with TRUE rap skills and was perfectly packaged when he exploded on the scene. The fact that he was "white" made him even more famous because he actually had crazy word play and his style was unique.
Em is in everyone's top 10 for talent and mic skills, but his music ain't up there for a lot of people. Respect it, don't cry about it.
When Eminem killed Jay-Z on Rengade, the debate was over
Fuck yeah preach my brother preach once he did Jay Z end it was over with JAY Z in my mind never really had bars anyway
Even better to add to this: Renegade was originally a track with Royce that was IMO much better (same Em verses) but Jay needed a track for his album and didn’t have time I believe so they gave it to Jay, improved the beat and Em just kept his original verses on it. Meaning that Jay had all this time to outwrite Em and STILL couldn’t come close.
When will people let go Jay Z has no bars he never dead he was never a good rapper blueprint one too they all suck I don’t even know who thought of him as a godfather of rap nas is 10 times better than him
For me Nas would be a better comparison than JayZ. His pen isn't the same level honestly no one's is, but Nas is the only longtime artist I can think of that made hard ass tracks you could roll too and made tracks that dead ass inspired children. That's greatness.

In Finland, I think Eminem is the only rapper that we heard in the radios, I'm 100% sure he is the first foreign rapper many of us heard as youngsters and only after that people found the genre interesting. Some researched further but everybody knows Eminem, even if they do not have a one glue about Biggie or Pac. Just stating the facts, not every artist can be relevant to so many cultures, while states only look at the ones who have influenced their own 😅 kinda bad way to grade an artist
@Jacob smith sure, we didn't condone slavery. But here we come to the race question. Are white fans less good and should they be discredited?
No but they are easier to attain due to being the first influence that many white people, including myself, had that was connected to hip-hop. If they played anyone else's song black or white it may have had the same effect. So I think that's why henna said measuring an artists ability or skill should not be correlated to how much influence they have on culture.

I appreciate that since I'm also white, my own experience paints my perception of who Eminem is and what he means to me as an artist. However, myself and countless other hip hop heads across the world would still be listening to Eminem if the dude was fucking green and polka dotted. He's dope, completely and utterly dope. The fact that he's white doesn't make a fuckin lick of difference in his relevance to music and culture. If you got it, you got it, the color aint a thing. Be like saying Three Musketeers and Count of Monte Cristo are irrelevant novels because Dumas was a black man. Everybody loves them goddamn books, myself included. But it was Royce!!!
to the haters, it doesnt matter, they just wanna hate, deep down i believe they acknowledge Eminem's skill but his color is blinding to them since they are racists, they cant see beyond his color, their response is simply emotional and not cerebral

FACTS. No one can touch his pen. It is like Shakespeare. People are jealous like 50-cent said that a white man has risen so high and can do it better. The sad part about all of this is that Eminem has always been respectful to the to the culture - making sure to highlight the value of the artists that he learned from and helped him develop his pen. And yet all he get is BS from haters who are only worried about skin color.
Eminem has never used the N-Word in any of his songs! There's a couple of new white rappers that blurt the N-Word in their songs
He has used the N word once in a malice way. He was very young and the black female cheated on him and he roasted her on the track. He profusely apologized for it though and never ever used that word again
@@andydang8157 who the f*ck *hasnt* said some un-PC shit when they were a kid.
I am a black female. He apologized on yellow brick road. I think the general consensus was as long as he doesn't use it again we can forgive this error as a young person. Also D12 and proof should have checked him on it back then.
@@andydang8157 I dont think he actually dropped an N-bomb, I think he was just rapping about black girls being bad to date and they only want you for your money because one broke his heart.
Em was the first ever album I bought as a little kid in the UK, he’s the reason I love rap. He’s huge everywhere, all over the world - especially Africa - it’s only really black Americans who hate on him
James Ikr - I’m from Denmark and seing some off the racist shit going on in the US (both white and black) is *craaaaazzyyyyyy* 😳
There's been a Lot of anti-white politics in the U.S. over the last few years. It's propaganda created by those who own the media since Trump was elected. (Saying Trump's "racist" just because they wanted a woman -- Hilary -- to get in.)

Not only is he unbelievable with his pen, he’s also the best at putting the words to the beat and his cadence as he rides the beat and makes the syllables rhyme also.

"They hate him because he's "insert skin color here" is the definition of racism, judging someone solely based off their skin and ignoring their contributions and character.
I mean it's true. Especially with the restlessness of the world today. When they see someone playing the game better, especially who's on "the opposite side" of the race war now, it might sting. Even if it shouldn't because Em has been part of the rap culture and even black community when he lived in inner city Detroit. He's stood up for all of the community. This how they repay him?
@@CrazeeAdam He literally told half his fanbase to"f*ck off" if they voted Trump. Cos U.S. blacks were told by the media that Trump's 'racist' (I don't see how he is tho?). Hip-Hop is the biggest genre of music in the world right now. Take Em out of that equation and it suddenly isn't.
@william Khims Sure it was big not the biggest. It became the biggest this decade.. A lot of that has to do with technology. But Eminem's influence at a global scale is undeniable. If it wasn't for Eminem, a lot of people across Asia, Latin America and Europe wouldnt have accepted Hip-hop the way they did.
william Khims he did not in any way say hip hop would be nothing without Em. Read the words buddy.
@william Khims Lol, if you wanna pointlessly argue, then go ahead. make your point! I was born in Asia. I am not white and if it wasn't for Em, I wouldn't even have heard of Dr. Dre or NWA or 2pac. Oh and I was born in the 80s. So your argument is as skewed as your understanding of this subject matter.
@william Khims So from what you said, here's what I gather: 1. All Indians are racist 2. All Indians love Europeans. 3. All black people hate Eminem 4. All European Americans love Eminem.
These are such blanket statements that they don't need to be countered.
But I will still say this, as much as you have lived around Indian people (colored as they may be called in South africa), they aren't so much of Indian as Indian people are. And for the love of god, art or intellect is not about color, I don't care what color Eminem is just the way I dont care what color MJ or Dave Chappelle or a Neil De Grasse Tyson are. They are all greats! But when a certain community doesn't give them the respect they deserve then that's when it becomes a problem. Have a good day!
@william Khims i can say that Eminem made hip hop big in Asia, no hate but i guarantee you that only 5% of Asians know any 2pac or Biggie hit songs. US hip hop legends didnt make hip hop big in Asia, hell most rappers in Japan or Korea or the rest of Asia listed Eminem as their influence.
Em could grab a random black dude..ghost write for him and make him famous overnight
That would be an interesting experiment. Have the black dude show up on the Breakfast Club and do his Em-written freestyle, and see what they all say..

SixStringMental yup he’s a great producer
I agree. When he very first came out, I was 'iffy' about him. But when I sat with my grown kids back then and, due to their insistence, I listened to him, and I was truly blown away and quite frankly, astounded at his use of words. I've always been a lover of ALL music, all styles, some more than others, depending on how it made me feel and if it gave me that feeling, that feeling you get inside, (it's hard for me to describe), but, I understood rather quickly what his music was for everyone. I remember back in the day, ALL musicians, ESPECIALLY rap artists, were giving him props for his artistry. But, now, we've got this fucked up environment going on that has blinded peoples' common sense, what was good is now bad, what was bad is now right, it's an upside down world we're living in,, I do pray for ALL of humanity!

What i dont understand is :

but when it comes to hiphop , u have the same ppl complain about Ems skincolor and say he cant be a part of the culture , cause hes white and doing the same shi1 what they fighting against.
WHERE IS THE POINT ?
Absolutely. The hypocrisy and double-standards blow my f-ing mind!
I'm a biracial man in the US (black mother & white father). Don't omit Em's impact on the biracial community. I have very light skin (you could say I pass for being white often) and growing up I didn't identify with the majority of white kids and didn't have dark enough skin to be accepted by the black community. Listening to Em's lyrics helped me to build my own identity that blends both communities and cultures as time passed. Started listening when I was in 3rd grade with The Marshall Mather LP and The Eminem Show, and am only more of a Stan today with how Em has grown to use his platform for good. As a result, I feel that tracks like "Mosh," "Lose Yourself," and "Not Afraid" were pivotal in the person I am today.
I like this. Madd objective BC he said Ems music isn't for him but his pen is undeniable.

I LOVE U Steve, you’re always unbiased and forming your own thoughts, you’re dope!
Respect, you are fully fully fully on point with this! I remember back in the 90s bein a massive hip hop head, then slim shady hit my radar way before the Dr dre thing, remember scouting all the underground record shops to find a piece of him and hitting dead walls.. Had no idea he was white until 'my name is' came out.. Over a year later.. Mans was shook at the talent and finding out he was white! But on day one, I bought that chit, this is in the UK.. Then bought the 2nd and 3rd.. As a rapper I rated him up there for years while being heavy on the wu, snoop, busta, mobb deep, nas, Jay z, biggie, Tupac as well as every other rapper from Camron to canibus, dipset to g unit, didn't feel ems other albums until kamikaze n mtbmb.. I still and always will rate him as my top 'MC' of all time because of his skill, hes 'owned' the game in his own right including longevity, and consistency! Man not many rappers still bein talked about at his age, that says it all.. And when he spits, he still spits raw, plays with words, can adjust to many styles within a track which shows dude ain't wack as he snaps and claps back at everyone in the game.. He's a legend and its a shame people won't acknowledge that!
I grew up as the only white kid in my neighborhood. I've dealt with alot of similar shit. Much love to Stevie for being a real one
