I don't think it's because Eminem is white - Melle Mel always hated on the next generation of rappers. He accused Run DMC of ruining rap music. He hated on KRS-1 so bad, he interrupted one of his shows by throwing a chain (one of those big metal chains you use to secure your bicycle) at KRS1 while he was performing. In 83 a rapper name Mikey D won an award for being the best mc that year - Melle Mel and his crew jumped Mikey D outside and took his award. Melle has hated on Biggie, Jay-Z etc
