      that's because you most likely just been listening to Eminem, RA The Rugged Man whos a white rapper whos been rapping way longer than Eminem, who has a song with BIG while BIG was still alive, who has been blackballed by the industry mid 90s has plenty songs talking about mental illness and other stuff as his sister and brother where born with disabilities due to his father time on Vietnam, on top of that he is a lyrical genius and many would even say faster rapper than Eminem

    • @agny369
      @agny369 3 года назад +6

      @@TheHipHop_Junkie if hes that good, he would have made money with someone by now. eminem came to "power" because of the marketability of him, if rugged man didnt master that thats not eminem's problem. Eminem didn't do it by himself either, and he would be the first to admit that. ESPECIALLY in this day and age of soundcloud and youtube exposure, if ra the rugged man(who ive never been exposed to despite listening to biggie since the 90s, never heard a song with that guy on it) didnt make it, theres a reason for it. Blackballed by the industry sounds like a cop out, theres probably a reason behind why he never became mainstream, and it has 0 to do with eminem. What that reason is, I dont know, because I've never heard an RA the Rugged Man song because for whatever that reason is, he couldnt get a single out into the world for exposure. I was downloading music in the napster days, got all the mixtapes from IRC in the early 2000s before torrents were a thing, so for me to have missed him, with the extent of the music library I've listened to, theres some explanation as to why he never blew up. Music is subjective as hell, but if he truly made a song with biggie when biggie was alive, I should have heard it.

    Eminem almost has 5 songs with a billion views. He probably has 20 songs with 200 and 300+ million views. So not only can he go bar to bar with any other rapper, but he definitely has the hit songs to crush anyone. Add that with his fan base. There’s a reason he’s the highest selling rapper of all time. Fat Joe ain’t lying, nobody beating Eminem.

    • @ryanbailey4036

      Whats even crazier, is alot of his hit songs were all released before youtube existed or got big. So imagine how many more views his music vids and audio would get if they were released in the past 5-10 years. And if the music videos werent censored, im sure that would help. Even old songs which he released 20 years ago have got lots of views and he uploaded them a couple years on his channel.

      This is a key point that everyone, including Stans, need to understand. You can't compare rappers if you haven't heard most of the songs those rappers have made. Em is one of my favorite rappers and hands down my favorite lyricist. But a lot of Stans just matter of factly say that EM is the best and they have heard every Em song. And when pushed about how many Jay Z or Wayne or other rapper's songs they have heard they will just name their most popular songs. Like they said, "Hey Siri, play popular songs by Lil Wayne", listen to the first few songs and then make up their mind that Em is better. You have to give other rappers the same chance that you gave Em. If you have listened to most of Em's songs then don't compare him to other rappers unless you have ALSO heard most of THEIR songs. And likewise, to people like Charlemagne, don't compare Em to your favorite rappers unless you have listened to as much of Em's songs as you have listened to your favorite rappers. A rapper's most popular songs are rarely their best songs.

      @@manuelmorales6191 Jay = Jay Z? Just for clarification.
      I don't know. I mean, if you take the songs and verses that already exist, I'll give you that. But if they would get head-to-head and had time to prepare, knowing they'd have to compete?
      For one - that would be EPIC!
      And I couldn't predict who'd win. Eminem has a lot of songs and verses that aren't really saying much, I'll give that to anyone who's asking. More concentrated on the rhyming than on the content (yea yeah... I know, but it's not completely wrong to say so).
      I don't know if, when both parties would know it's a 'battle' and that everything counts: rhyming, content, flow etc... I wouldn't be able to predict who'd win. Because the preparation would be different than it is for just making a song for your own album. That'd be like writing a story for a competition vs writing one for your own pleasure.
      So.
      Can we make that happen now? Give the contestants x weeks to come up with their verse, get a jury who isn't in either fan-group together, then give them the beat and let them at it.
      That'd be amazing!

      That is a horrible metric to go off of, though. I love Em, and I think he is one of the best rappers and he is my favorite lyricist. But let's examine your argument. Elvis Presley sold around 1 billion records. FAR more than rockers like Chuck Berry and Little Richard sold. Does that mean Elvis was better than them or does it mean that there was a larger pool of people WILLING to give his music a chance. Look, I'm a 45 year old white dude. I discovered Hip Hop well before Em came on the seen. But even I didn't discover Hip Hop until Run-DMC teamed up with Aerosmith in a song. Likewise, I know a ton of white rap fans who were introduced to rap by listening to Eminem. Why is it that SOOOO many of us white Hip Hop fans were introduced to Hip Hop through white artists? Maybe it is the same reason that so many black Hip Hop fans don't give white rappers a proper chance. I'm not claiming racism. But maybe it is just human nature to be initially drawn toward artists that we have the most in common with. A smaller percentage of the white population listens to rap music than the black population. But because we are the majority, white people are still the largest consumer of rap music. And if people are drawn to artists that look like them and rap about life experiences they share, then...well, I'm just saying that having the most fans doesn't necessarily mean you are the best.

They just don't kill each other but other people, so that's a bit better? Maybe?)

I wasn't really messing with em much after that, but going back and reviewing his stuff, it's fair to say I'm a Stan, but that's grounded in respect for him as an artist, and a rapper. I go back and forth about where he ranks as greatest of all time, but this man's launched careers, focused on mental health issues, inequality, classism, addiction, abuse, etc. If he was unskilled, that alone would be enough to make him a hero to most, add his talent and well you can't ignore him, that fan base ain't an accident.

    I think the simplest way to put it: Eminem is a god lyrically, literally a rap god. When Eminem fans hear a rap song, they will listen to the lyrics and the craft and judge it by that. But rappers like Drake, JayZ, Wayne, Kendric etc. are way better vocally and have better beats, and that's what their fans hear first. Eminem is not an artist that makes club bangers. I think people who hate on Em don't really understand the craftmanship that goes behind his lyrics and don't have the ear for that, only hear his vocals and hence hate him because of that.

    "I never wanted to kill my mother. I never wanted to kill my baby mom"
    I can't stand when people use the whole "Em raps about killing his wife and raping his mom" thing as a go-to sentiment when it comes to Em's music, acting as if that's majority of his discography.
    Like..... theres soooooo many Em songs where he's rapping about meaningful shit; Til I Collapse, Not Afraid, Phenomenal, Lose Yourself, Sing For The Moment, etc.
    Besides, Em pretty much apologised to his mom (Headlights) as well as Kim (Bad Husband) which quite alright doesn't erase the things he said before, but is still a good and mature thing he did imo.

    • @frizzlethecat2084
      @frizzlethecat2084 3 года назад +1

      I love Bad Husband because he's honest about being a bad husband. I hope he talked to Kim face to face before that song already (I think he did? Idk, not a true stan here, I don't wanna know personal shit if possible)
      So most of his relationship-with-females-songs end terribly, but that doesn't automatically mean Eminem wanted it to be this way, or even that he likes it or that he actually wants others to be in that same boat.
      When I first listened to "Love the way you lie" I was intoxicated. It was just so powerful and described the vicious cycle of toxic love in a way that made it relatable even when I've never been in anything even close to it!
      If CTG really listened to those kinds of songs and still can't related (!) that just means he's not a very empathetic person. Empathy means putting oneself in someone else's place and seeing their side of things, even when it's not the one you would sympathize with.
      So of course as a woman, I'd sympathize more with the woman in the songs but since it's from HIS perspective, I can't help getting his side, too. They also function as a good warning... "If your partner is displaying some of these traits? See that you get out of it before he ties you to the bed and sets the house on fire!" 😉

    I'm annoyed at the way these people who say "he's a better rapper but worse music" better music isn't just calculated by how many people dance to it. The reason why eminem fan base is so loyal and large, is because of the amount of songs he makes that literally save lives. He makes songs that make you feel strength even when you hate yourself and have suicidal thoughts. On that note, his music is 'better' because of how much value the music has to all those fans. As opposed to rappers who have 'bangers' which people dance to for 5 seconds then move on to the next 600 songs which give them the same short term dose of excitement. That means a lot less than music that literally has saved peoples lives.

  • @redaomer1981
    @redaomer1981 3 года назад +1

    Mumble rappers have their songs played in clubs, that doesn’t mean they are good, it’s just the beat, dancing beats. EM has the biggest loyal fan base in the world without being played on the radio everyday and without being played in clubs, that says a lot, that shows the amount of impact he has with his music/ rap on people, He doesn’t need clubs or radios to play his music. Rhyming scheme, lyrics, double/ quadruple meaning, how he rides any beat, that’s what rapping is, that’s a true artist. He is THE G.O.A.T,
