Growing up watching Centurions, Swat Kats, Gargoyles, G.I.Joe, etc and watching today's cartoon with my son, I feel sorry for my son. I introduced him to these old cartoons on RUclips, and now he knows the difference and doesn't want to watch today's cartoons anymore! I'm so glad.👍

SWAT Kats was the best it what was my favorite t.v. show next to the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles + Gargoyles that show was epic. Plus I love the thumbnail it's awesome and The real Ghostbusters was epic if all those cartoons came out today they take him off the air right away because of content.

The Real Ghostbusters was genuinely creepy when the episodes were for syndication. The ABC Saturday Morning episodes were more family friendly. I remember being scared af when FLIP SIDE first aired. PEOPLEBUSTERS? My God, the Flip Side Peter looked like The Cryptkeeper! Hell, REBOOT was a great take on adult storylines set in a CGI world! Gotta love Hexadecimal...😉🇵🇷🇺🇸🗽🦂😎
Personally I would add Men In Black: Animated Series. But that's still a great list.
And as great as the Johnny Quest show was, the sequel show where they are older was a bit better both story and animation wise. Hell, they had a matrix training simulator for their next adventures.

I always thought they were going to make a batman beyond movie. That Michael Keaton would come back as old Bruce Wayne.
Favorite episode's was when the joker high jacked Robin's body. Bringing himself back to life through genetic manipulation.

Gargoyles was an amazing cartoon series. Not only was it completely original but the writers took so much care in creating a very clever and rich expansive mythos for the Gargoyles and all of the supporting characters. I loved this cartoon growing up and I’m always shocked that Disney hasn’t tried to turn this into a full blown live action film franchise. There’s so much they can do with the characters. It would be amazing to see a live action Goliath fight a fully armored Xanatos or battling the members of the Pack. It’s a real shame Disney hasn’t done this cartoon series justice by turning it into a movie series. They finally have the special effects to bring the Gargoyles to life and if they combine both practical effects with CGI I think they would have a real winner on there hands but that’s just me.

Remember Reboot? This show was like the best of the old Warner Brothers cartoons that operated on multiple levels. It was internet geekdom heaven long before RUclips, Facebook, etc. even existed.
The new series description was so bad I refuse to watch it. The original and later follow up were such great shows.

Pirates of Darkwater was my favorite. It was absolutely brilliant. At the age of 35, I rewatched the two seasons recently and was just as hooked as I was before. The voice actors were amazing and I'm sure was a reason the expense was too high for the show.
And I guess I was an odd-ball because I had tons of Tick toys! I love the Tick! Still do and absolutely an obsessed with the new show on Amazon.
I would have liked to hear at least a mention of the Swat Kats revival. The creators have been trying to gain support from fans for years. That was my first action cartoon, and it absolutely changed my life.

Tubi has a nostalgic selection of 80s and 90s cartoons. Not just cartoons but also movies from that time including anime are just so perfect. More adult oriented not like the dumbed down crap they have these days.
I love tubi TV. People sleep on it because it's free. But tubi TV has some good things!

Pirates of Darkwater was a great show, too bad they never finished the series.
I'd like to also add "The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest" from 1996. It had its share of issues between the animated and CGI segments. Otherwise it was a solid show with some memorable villians.
Nice selection, was hoping to see COPS, Thundercats and Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors.

Beasts Wars was an amazing show, not only one of the greatest Transformers shows but perhaps the greatest cartoon shows of the 90

Agreed! Beast Wars SAVED the Transformers franchise. Also the ONLY show to ever make me cry with the episode Code of Hero. 80s kids had the death of Optimus Prime make them cry, 90s kids had Dinobot's death.
I grew up on Beast Wars.....you can't imagine the disappointment when I found out they were vehicles in every other media form, lol
I truly miss being a kid and teen and hate being an adult and growing(getting older). Back when I was a kid and teen I enjoyed life due too watching great shows, movie and being with my dad(and now he is getting old and I hate that). Nowadays I still don’t have a good job, I keep overthinking things and never seem to stop being negative over everything.
You know what I miss from being a kid? Joints that were functional!
List of things that were good when were kids but suck now: Rock music, cartoons, comic books, most wrestling, professional sports (even hockey), horror movies.
My birthday is Dec. 1,besides the great cartoons I remember waiting all year to spend bday and Xmas $,if any to get as many games i waited for in EGM...basically, even games seemed like an event back then...now you might get 1 title per generation of console,besides C.O.D.

SWAT Kats was decades ahead of its time. And guess it also had a meaningful plot and connected Episodes which no other animated series of its time were good at specially the sci-fi type.
Even as a kid I thought that was far too edgy for Hanna Barbera my best guess at the time was the creates saw the way cartoons were heading and wanted to get there first, they did in fact get there first but alas it was too soon

Back in the day when a kids show killed off one of the characters in the first episode you knew it was something special!
Xmen 90s was the very first animated show to follow an overarching plot over many episodes. Before that, animated shows only followed the 1 show plot format where the events of the previous episodes never continued to the subsequent episodes.
I think _Pirates of Dark Water_ should have gotten some love in here somewhere.
And of course _The Inhuminoids!_

My centurians action figures were my favorites. You could mix and match armor pieces which kept replayability their best feature.
I think the Centurions are a lot more closer to Iron man's tech and armors it is now possible for them to do a live action movie of it by now. I mean if people like how Iron man's suit gets combined to his body automatically, just imagine how the Centurions get their suits by being teleported to them everytime they need it.

@@dreamguardian8320 10 to 1 the other part of the blade would've been one of the Treasures, allowing Ren to have a literal anti-Dark Water weapon beyond just plunging Treasures directly into it. And they definitely would've made some monster manifestation of the Dark Water eventually for them to fight - basically par for the course at the time.

I am a HUGE fan of Samurai Jack. His adventured always kept me on the edge if my seat and waiting for new episodes. Gargoyles rocked too. Loved the relationship between Goliath and Elisa

Their was so many good cartoons back then. Does anybody remember skeleton boys, wildcats, Savage dragon, Wing Commander academy, EXO squad, double dragon, back in my swimmers, street shocks, extreme dinosaurs, just to name a few.

One of the secrets to their success was that most of them were animated in Japan. Another reason was the writing was badass. Another was edgy designs.

Swat Kats and Batman Beyond were two way ahead of their time for sure, and both had excellent soundtracks.
And like most, I will also plug my own favorite: The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers.
If you were living in the Philippines in the 80s, kids like myself might remember back then that there was this program called Saturday Fun Machine which was a marathon of cartoons every Saturday from 7am to 12nn. Each cartoon show is about 30mins. If i remember it correctly, it starts with Great Space Coaster, Fraggle Rock, Space Ghost, John Black Star, Captain Caveman, Super Friends and many others. That was an awesome era for being a kid. I feel bad for todays generation as they no longer have these cool shows to watch on TV.
Trivia: Notice how the bulldog in Johnny Quest looks so different from the rest of the art in the cartoon? It's because the artist who drew the art for the show refused to draw him. Someone else drew the Bulldog.

@@crizacamillevaldez7986 No. Doug Wildey was far from a snow flake. Before he worked on animation he wrote and drew comics in the Action, Western and Horror-Fantasy genre. He envisioned Jonny Quest to be like the comics he worked on; Dark, Mature, Heavy with Mystery and Action. He wanted Jonny Quest to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. An adventure story kids can gravitate to but mature enough that even the adults can enjoy.
He was worried that by adding a cute, puppy like Bandit. Hanna-Barbera would turn Jonny Quest into just another Scooby-Doo clone. And considering Hanna-Barbera's track record, it's hard not to see why he'd be worried.

Ever since the 1960s there has to be a non human member of the cartoon cast for the younger viewers. It's a formula that rarely changed. Most cartoons needed a mascot for the team.
@@jhonmaverick9963 One thing to add, Jhonny Quest was the first animated TV show to ever kill villains for good.
Part of the reasons why Bruce Wayne stopped being Batman because somewhere down the line he started having heart problems and during his last battle as the Dark Knight where Bruce went to save a kidnapped girl his heart started up again and he was forced to do something he never did he picked up a gun and nearly used it to stop one of the kidnappers and it was after that event that Bruce returned to the Batcave for the last time and put the suit away in a display case with his original Batsuit along with the Robin suit,Nightwing Suit and Batgirl suit and taking one last look at everything he said 'Never Again' and turned the lights off and left and never looked back and it stayed that way till Terry came along and saw a bat trapped in the grandfather's clock where after freeing the bat and finding the switch he went down into the cave and found everything till Bruce appeared and hit him with his cane saying 'Get OUT'.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention Pirates of Darkwater - completely alien setting, characters including fantasy slang, and a sequential plot which would make it more difficult to air in reruns.
And as someone else mentioned Exo Squad - first really gritty show in the US.
I might also mention Mighty Max, a show that came after the toys.

Standards in animation have dropped considerably over the last couple of decades.
It took me a while to figure out the studios that handled the animation back then. Out of those places outsourced to, Japan seems to did a great job on the fluidity of the animation.
No. Not the standards of animation but the standards of cartoons which have dropped so low that I want to delete the cartoon network channel itself if it was possible. Everytime I see if anything has improved over all these years nope they just put Oggy and the cockroaches all the time which is the most shittiest cartoon to watch

I love Swat Kats, the first was ok, but when season 2 started, i was blown away with the improved animation, the taller/sleeker character design, the addition of Felina and the more serious/complex action packed episodes. So sad it got cancelled
As a 90’s baby I saw a bunch of these shows Batman Beyond, Transformers Beast Wars, Samuri Jack, Swat Cats, Extreme Ghostbusters, Gargoyles, The Tick, and later in my teen and adult life I caught reruns of spawn and I loved those shows they were all my favorites frowning up along with other various shows

Top list. I remember watching almost all of these. Glad to see people have not forgotten Defenders of The Earth, the franchise crossover that predates even the DCAU and Marvel's animated shows. Phantom 2040, MIB the series and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest should be on this list as well. It's great that the official Ghostbusters YT channel now has Extreme Ghostbusters on a weekly basis.
