    Alex Toth was an unbelievable force in The Superhero genre. A lot of people don’t know that Alex Toth created very elaborate and detailed drawings and backstories for every character he created while working for Hanna Barbara. Every Superhero, villain, and supporting character had a very detailed blueprint. Alex Toth basically created a Bible of information for all his characters. He also took his work and designs very seriously and wasn’t too happy when Hanna Barbara made parody spoof shows on some of his classic creations like Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law. In my opinion he’s one of the greatest artists to contribute to the superhero genre and He’s up there with the likes of Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and Alex Raymond. It’s just a shame that most people who’ve seen his work have no idea who he is even though his creations have made him such an inspirational figure.

      I tell you! The 'enlightened' individual(s) who came up with "Space Ghost: Coast-to-Coast" & "Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law", should be savagely "KNEE-CAPPED", FROM the NECK UP!

      True. Of course, it was originally seen as an animated update of the Depression-era radio show "The Adventures of Jack Armstrong the All-American Boy." But, of course, all that changed once H-B and Screen Gems/Columbia went into co-production for its one-and-only season in primetime (circa 1964)! And, while some episodes definitely foretold of things like video cellphones (aka the viewcom) and weaponized e-m-p (aka the Para-power Gun), other stories like "Shadow Of The Condor" (involving a crazy German air ace from WWI) are unfortunately outdated.

      @kennethpage417 Man , I like those crossovers , too !
      Of your list , there , I like Space Ghost best after The Herculoids . I thought his uniform/costume/suit was great . Also , his Ghost Ship and wrist power bands were really cool . I even thought Jan , Jas , and Blip were decent sidekicks (and I'm not crazy about sidekicks , lol )
      One of the neatest things I remember was that "Inviso" power they all had in their power bands , and what a good effect that was (just showing main outlines in white, with no colors , to simulate invisibility. Hell , even the monkey could turn invisible ! Mightor and Birdman were ok , too . I thought the "modern" Harvey Birdman was hilarious .
      Not superheroes , but one of the GOAT cartoons from "back in the day" , which has held up , imo , is Jonny Quest - a true classic

    A lot of these cartoons came out in 1967 - 1968, which was the sweet spot for me.
    Note tha Bridman, Space Ghost, Mightor etc. were also re-shown in the late 1970s in the "Hanna-Barbera World of Super Adventure". That timing was great as the memory of my favorites was starting to fade - this show brought them back to life for me,
    I read the "Future Quest" series in it's entirety. I loved what they did for my favorite, Birdman. In the cartoons, he had a very limited supply of solar energy, and got very weak when it was depleted. The "Future Quest" series and the subsequent books focused on Birdman did not go there. Recharging was mentioned, but that was about it.

    • @WayneKeen
      @WayneKeen 2 года назад

      Note that in the "Future Quest" books that focused on Space Ghost, there is only one reference to the (overused in the cartoons) villain removing his power bands, and in that case Metallus indicated that there were safeguards that preventing him for doing that.

    • @WayneKeen
      @WayneKeen 2 года назад

      On another unrelated related note, I have thought that music from these series could be packaged in a manner similar to what NFL Films did with their music. Note that I mean something more than the opening/closing credit stuff. I mean the music that makes the action sequences of the cartoons cooler. I wonder if it even exists in someone's vaults any more?

    • @WayneKeen
      @WayneKeen 2 года назад

      @Aristophanes Garcia Did you like the way that Future Quest gave characters like Space Ghost and Birdman minor updates that avoided the overused stuff like "I've been away from the rays of the sun too long" and "I can't....reach....my power bands" from the cartoons? I sure did.

    I was going to say, "What about Thundarr the Barbarian?" but looking closer, that was a Ruby-Spears production. They were former Hanna-Barbera writers, so at least they're related. One cool thing: many of the characters in that show were designed by Jack Kirby, and there is the stunning painting they use of Earth in the far future after the moon was torn in half and reformed. But I loved them all. Saturday was the only day my mom did not have to wake me up, my butt was parked in front of the tv early with a bowl of cereal. @@AlexBabcock-hw9iz , the story line was there, you were just too much of a moron to pick up on it, and ditto for Thundarr the Barbarian. Also, another cartoon that could work, either as an actual cartoon, or a live action remade television series, that was, surprisingly enough, NOT an action filled series, would be the very rarely mentioned, or seen, Hanna-Barbera series that is called Where's Huddles. I would honestly get the people that made the television show Coach to get onto that project, and quick, if it was a live action television series.

    At 7 years of age I had been a confirmed fan of the show along with *Frankenstein, Jr.* since they appeared together the year before (not knowing till many years later that they had actually premiered separately - and before I was born), and, not being familiar with much cinema, was a reluctant theater-goer. That spring, when my mother's elder sister came to our house bubbling over about the fantastic sci-fi film she had just viewed, she convinced me to see it by insisting that if I loved *Space Ghost* , then I was certain to love this George Lucas fellow's new production as well.
