206bhp 2276cc VW Beetle - 1/4 Mile 12.38 @ 106mph

- Neil Wilkinson in his 2276cc N/A air-cooled VW Beetle, which is pushing out 206bhp with its twin 48 IDA's, Wedgeport Heads, 86c Cam, JPM exhaust amongst the mods. It is still an all steel street car as well. Video'd at VW Action at Santa Pod Raceway back in September, putting in 5 runs in the 12's with a best of 12.38 @ 106mph.

Wonderful VW bug. The sound of this 4x1 exhaust is fantastic. In gear changes, there is a beautiful setback
man I like the diesel running in the right lane that was impressive. 10 second diesel. front wheel drive. Like the 2276 too.
Gutted I sold my 55 oval after buying a house without storage years ago. I never had a sweet stroker motor though. I did run a 12.01 pass in my old 2016 stage 2 golf R (400hp/4WD) back in 2018. This for me puts it in perspective how utterly insane these old bugs are with a tasty stroker fitted. I hope to own another one soon….this time with the motor to match the looks !!!

Does anybody know how many races a car with that engine can run before it needs a rebuild?
If the engine is built right, you don't have to push it to hard gun engine on track win race from start that can destroy engine quickly even immediately I prefer get smaller engine and built correctly that will beat any 2 Liter motor. Any day
Mine had bored and stroked Bus engine and transaxle ( had to cut a lot of sheet metal but she dis 12 seconds in 1/4 mile.

What brand is the exhaust system?
The muffler is a stinger, tons of companies make their own like empi,scat, but the headers not shure lots of options but it's a 4-1 setup

I disagree. Beetles have been running this style of exhaust for decades and decades now. It is the iconic drag beetle exhaust.
