    I've just replaced front cover gasket on my 140kw 2.5. the plastic timing guide fell out as I removed the cover. It has one raised edge. Is that meant to be towards the engine or the timing cover. Yellow plastic piece.

    Great vid. Have watched a couple of times. Many thanks.
    I have a couple of questions:
    - What are your thoughts on doing this job with engine in vehicle? How much harder is it?
    - Another YT channel with a lot of YD25 experience reckons you should never turn the engine with a socket & bar on the crank. It can cause the chains to skip a tooth??
    If this is true, what's the best way to rotate the engine when doing a routine inspection of the chains?

    • @yd2532
      @yd2532  2 года назад +4

      Can only jump a tooth when the chains are super worn out or sprockets missing teeth. If the parts are all brand new and the fail safe is in the tensioner it's won't be able to jump. We replace the chains in the car 9 hour job for a d40 and 15 for a d22

    Torque to 60nm with rattle gun lmfao yeah right bud...
    Also its best practise to have dot on counterweight/balance shaft gear that lines up that tooth in between the two dots on the crank gear. Not 100% necessary but best to do and cyl 1 should then be on compression tdc. And the cam gear dots should align with the dots on the timing case.

    • @yd2532

      Before removing the old bottom chain and sprockets you can replace the vac pump sprocket with the new one then lock the fuel pump and torque it but the worn chain jumps sprocket teeth.

    • @yd2532
      @yd2532  2 года назад +2

      Cam sprockets are double row from factory and do half the revolutions of the crank so they last the longest out of all the sprockets.
      If you do replace them make sure you hold the cam by the first lobe with a big shifting spanner with good flats on it. Don't hold it by the hex in the centre of the can cause you will either round it off or it will start to twist the cam from the torque 144nm

      i have a 2.2 diesel engine. Its done 1,20,000 miles . Regular maintained. Early interval 5w30 oil changes.
      How much should I expect timing chain to last more?
      What would be significant symptoms of timing needing a change?
      Although on the other end of cams , vacuum pump chain sprocket had slacked at 1,00,000 miles . I did a work around and gave the needed tension to the tensioner guide. I noticed the teeth on pump sprocket one thin , but its working just ok since then.
