Owner of Sony ZVE10 here, yea stay with the kits lens until got the money to buy better lens for my vlogging & studio. It will take time but I agree with you. Will buy the adapter.
I think you should mention "AUTO FOCUS WORKS WITH ADAPTOR!" in the beginning of the video. For a long time we have an impression that yeah adaptor works, you can put any lens on it, but you lost that AF, which is a deal-breaker. Until 4:55 finally I know OK, AF works, this can work. Because AF is important for most people, so it should be mentioned right at the beginning. I think you should even change that video cover picture to some big bold red font of "AF Works!". That will be encouraging. Video is informative, keep it up!
I am 100% going to buy this. I am currently taking a filmmaking course at a local technical school. I bought a zve10 a while back and have been meaning to buy more lenses. And i ran into the problem of them all being expensive. But my school is a canon school. So i was looking into getting an adapter and all I found where mechanical adapters that didn't include autofocus. I am now going to go buy this and have access to my schools lenses and be able to use them on my personal camera
I'm starting school Sep 3rd for Videography basically and so I'm gonna see if my school will let me use their lenses because the prices are crazy, I need to run up a RUclips check first lol
I have the zve-10, 18-35, and the mc-11 adapter. Maybe the 7artisans is better than the sigma adapter, but mine does not function as well as a native Sony lens or a native e Mount sigma lens. If you are pulling focus manually, then the issues don't matter and this lens is just beautiful to shoot both photo and video. While it does have continuous autofocus in video, it hunts like crazy past the 30mm focal length and at 35 the hunting occurs 50% of the time becoming essentially too unreliable to use. The hunting issue goes up considerably when using active stabilization to try and squeeze out additional reach There are a few other quirks I have noticed, like the focus assist magnification in DMF doesn't work, and the only way to put it in manual focus is with the switch on the side, and because of that I can't pull focus manually on my weebill s gimbal through a usb connection. Again, if you are focusing manually, or are behind the camera and can run your scene again if you experience hunting issues, then this lens is in a class of it's own. Really too bad sigma hasn't re-released this for e Mount, it would be the best selling aps-c lens by a mile. Fyi my lens and adapter are fully updated with the latest firmware.
I love my Sigma Art Series 24-105 F4 or my 85mm f1.8 with the speed booster adapter on my ZVE10. Bought it for 120 bucks and it is a bang for the buck. The speed booster is even better than a normal adapter, brings in more light and you get one full fstop better (f4 becomes f2.8 on the ZV-E10 and its reducing also the focal length with factor x0.71) etc. The ZV-E10 is a great second camera I always carry with me and also use it as a webcam.
i´ve tried 2 adapters on my sony a6000 for ef lenses. both for around 90 bucks and with both i couldnt use continuous autofocus when shooting video. in the end spent 600 bucks and bought the tamron 17-70 2.8 as an amazing alrounder.
Love this! Do take note fam, you need to update the firmware or else the aperture function will be wonky, alongside its autofocus function. READ the manual by all means.

Cool but like a lot of people, I bought the ZV-E10 mainly because of its compact size. Putting an adapter on it plus a big and heavy Sigma lens will make it a heavy monster. I'd rather buy a full-frame in that case.

You forgot one specific thing - it depends on the focus motor . Usm and stm lenses work better , most non L or Stm lenses uses micromotor and they are slow , unreliable and painful to use.
If one relies on eye-detect AF absolutely nailing focus in video, then one wouldn't take any risk with adapted solutions. It's cheaper if you shoot non-demanding stills or if you manual focus your video. However, if one manual focuses for video, there are so many other choices out there.
In my testing of this specific adapter, this is no difference between a native Sony lens and the canon lenses I have tested with this adapter. The performance has been identical, I am honestly shocked it works in the way that is does. I would have agreed with your comments here, until I used this adapter.
What settings are needed for autofocus on video to work with this adapter? I have a zony zv-e10 and a sigma 18-35 lens. because now it's not autofocus. I bought this adapter after watching your video. And I hoped that everything would be as you said.

Wow! So having followed you using my M50 mks i & ii where I bought a speedbooster and various adapters for EF/EF-S lenses (including the Canon 50mm f1.8 & f1.4, shorty forty, 85mm f1.8) to find I could use them natively on the ZV-E10 is an interesting proposition. Many thanks Mark for the heads up.

2 things keep me from purchasing the E10. The often mentioned rolling shutter and my concern that this late in its life cycle, a new improved model will be coming out very soon. This would be my first camera. I don't want to regret the purchase and I want it to be the only camera I buy for a long time.

Awesome, I think you will enjoy it. Just as an additional tip, that I should have included in the video. It can be a bit of a 2 in 1 lens, with the look you can get, it has a really interesting vintage look at f0.95, but stop it down to f1.4 or f2.0 and the image starts to look more like a modern lens, with higher contrast.

I tried this adapter and the Auto Focus was $hite. It would hunt around for ages, sometimes miss, sometimes hit. Sometimes never got anything in focus. It was slow and unpredictable. It was actually easier to manual focus and quicker.
Thanks fos sharing this. What lens were you using? I need to do some testing across different lenses, I suspect there large variations in performance with different lenses.

Mark, does using this adapter change anything regarding the focal length since the sensor is further from the lens using this adapter? might seem like a silly question but considering how focal length determines the viewing angle, i would think we are adding a crop factor ontop of the already 1.5 crop factor an APSC camera already has. thanks, and good video otherwise

I tell you , this is game changing. Like you said Sony lens are great but expensive. This allows us to use Cannon lens to expand our options, for that I thank you for sharing. So if the lens has a zoom function will that work with the ZVE10, and if the cannon lens has a manual and auto fucus switch the camera can adapt and Auto focus ? Thanks for a great video .
I just bought the adapter and the sigma lens, when I try to zoom with the camera, it doesn’t work well. Sometimes it show me a pop up telling me about RAW and JPEG file! You guys know about this issue ?
I use my Canon 100mm f/2.8 everyday and consider it the gold standard for dental photography. You don't need the more expensive L version. I also use the Tokina 100 mm macro on another body as a back up. It's also very good but not quite as sharp as the Canon. Please note that I do not know how they work on this adapter mentioned in the video. Only on native Canon DSLR bodies.
I got one but it only worked with my 50mm. My other cannon lens with the same mount did not work for some reason and support refuses to get back to me.

Hi Mark, I’ve just bought one of these adaptors, but there were two choices, the EOS-R and the EOS-M, is there much difference ? I went for the EOS-R for my Sony ZV-E10II, hopefully thats the right one !
Welp you just saved me $100’s of dollars… Fuji xt4 after 2 years and $1700 took a crap on me. $1700 only got me a 1 year warranty. The camera only ever sat on a tripod in an air conditioned room… and it overheats so bad now that it distorts my sensor😂 they tried to charge me $845 to fix it… anyways. I took that $845 and grabbed and Sony zv e10… safe to say I’m never looking back

Hi - I need some help! I have an old Konica Minolta camera and I want to get back into photography but want to use the lenses I already have for the Minolta because they are AMAZING! What digital camera is compatible with Quantaray Lens? Please help! I purchased the Sony ZV-E10 because one video I watched said it was compatible with Quantaray lens since Sony bought Minolta. But I just picked up the Sony ZV-E10 today and my Minolta lenses are NOT compatible!
What we really need is a test of the zillion E to EF adapters available when the reviews are so inconsistent and people are whining that half of them don't work half the time. Presumably, for 100 bucks the 7artisans one works very well. But I wonder if the Commlite one is just as good? Or the new Movo one? Or the Viltrox ones? Ive bought this adaptor and tried it on a tamron 70-300 and a Canon75-300 image stabilisation work on both but not the Auto Focus, ive installed the latest firmware, am i doing something wrong ?

@@markwiemels Currently in my country, the only Fujifilm model available for entry to the prosumer level are T-200 at $685and the X-S10 both with kit lens 15-45 at about $1000. Not so many options here.
Why is there a misconception about E mount lenses being expensive. Canon L series are expensive too. But third party support from Samyang, Viltrox, Tamron, and more offer amazing value. You can get an entire collection of lenses all under $300 each and some under $200. And having Sony support without an adapter will always be better. To say it’s the same performance is misleading. Even Sonys own nifty 50 is only about $250 which would be the exact same price as the Canon plus adapter. Not to mention specific APSC Sony glass can be had for just as cheap with primes and even zooms for around $300.
The Canon lenses are cheaper, the 50mm 1.8, 40mm 2.8, and 24mm 2.8, can all be bought new under $150. There is also lots of used L series lenses much cheaper than the comparable used Sony lenses, it's not really a misconception.

I was surprised to learn that AF works with the adaptor. This is not the case with the Pentax PK to Sony EF adaptor.

Just got a zv-e10 such an awesome little hybrid camera! The Sony 11mm f1.8 is my next buy.
I think the Viltrox 13mm is better than the Sony 11, just my opinion, it also goes to 1.4 and had less distortion, being 13 instead of 11.

I have the Sigma MC-11 adapter. I updated the firmware and it is going ok with Canon glasses. I haven’t use Canon glasses much but I will soon.
This would work on any Sony camera, right? Sony A6700, for example.

Idk, the lens range is one of the main reasons for choosing sony over canon. Lots of options at lots of price points without involving adapters.

Mark, does using this adapter change anything regarding the focal length since the sensor is further from the lens using this adapter? might seem like a silly question but considering how focal length determines the viewing angle, i would think we are adding a crop factor ontop of the already 1.5 crop factor an APSC camera already has.

I tell you , this is game changing. Like you said Sony lens are great but expensive. This allows us to use Cannon lens to expand our options, for that I thank you for sharing. So if the lens has a zoom function will that work with the ZVE10, and if the cannon lens has a manual and auto fucus switch the camera can adapt and Auto focus ? Thanks for a great video .
Yes, everything should work as per normal. It has on all the lenses I have tested, I'm shocked by how well it works.
I just bought the adapter and the sigma lens, when I try to zoom with the camera, it doesn’t work well. Sometimes it show me a pop up telling me about RAW and JPEG file! You guys know about this issue ?

I use my Canon 100mm f/2.8 everyday and consider it the gold standard for dental photography. You don't need the more expensive L version. I also use the Tokina 100 mm macro on another body as a back up. It's also very good but not quite as sharp as the Canon. Please note that I do not know how they work on this adapter mentioned in the video. Only on native Canon DSLR bodies.

I got one but it only worked with my 50mm. My other cannon lens with the same mount did not work for some reason and support refuses to get back to me.

Hi Mark, I’ve just bought one of these adaptors, but there were two choices, the EOS-R and the EOS-M, is there much difference ? I went for the EOS-R for my Sony ZV-E10II, hopefully thats the right one !
That won’t work, you need the Sony E model.

Welp you just saved me $100’s of dollars… Fuji xt4 after 2 years and $1700 took a crap on me. $1700 only got me a 1 year warranty. The camera only ever sat on a tripod in an air conditioned room… and it overheats so bad now that it distorts my sensor😂 they tried to charge me $845 to fix it… anyways. I took that $845 and grabbed and Sony zv e10… safe to say I’m never looking back

What digital camera is compatible with Quantaray Lens? Please help! I purchased the Sony ZV-E10 because one video I watched said it was compatible with Quantaray lens since Sony bought Minolta. What we really need is a test of the zillion E to EF adapters available when the reviews are so inconsistent and people are whining that half of them don't work half the time. Presumably, for 100 bucks the 7artisans one works very well. But I wonder if the Commlite one is just as good? Or the new Movo one? Or the Viltrox ones? Ive bought this adaptor and tried it on a tamron 70-300 and a Canon75-300 image stabilisation work on both but not the Auto Focus, ive installed the latest firmware, am i doing something wrong ?

Photo image quality would be similar, Video quality is better in the Sony, as if the autofocus for photo and video, build is nicer on the M3.

@@minnami778 I think that’s a reasonable choice, just don’t buy a zv-e10 for photo, it’s not a good photo camera. I personally would go Fuji.
@@markwiemels Currently in my country, the only Fujifilm model available for entry to the prosumer level are T-200 at $685and the X-S10 both with kit lens 15-45 at about $1000. Not so many options here.

Why is there a misconception about E mount lenses being expensive. Canon L series are expensive too. But third party support from Samyang, Viltrox, Tamron, and more offer amazing value. You can get an entire collection of lenses all under $300 each and some under $200.
And having Sony support without an adapter will always be better. To say it’s the same performance is misleading.
Even Sonys own nifty 50 is only about $250 which would be the exact same price as the Canon plus adapter. Not to mention specific APSC Sony glass can be had for just as cheap with primes and even zooms for around $300.
The Canon lenses are cheaper, the 50mm 1.8, 40mm 2.8, and 24mm 2.8, can all be bought new under $150. There is also lots of used L series lenses much cheaper than the comparable used Sony lenses, it's not really a misconception.
