Hello, I just published a Full Frame E-Mount Lens version of this video with the new ZV-E1 in mind for those interested here: ruclips.net/video/IyiK2D9GUzc/видео.html
Oh my goodness! This is by far the best review of the lineup of sony lenses to choose from for the ZVE10. Thank you so much Jason! I must have watched over 10 reviews on the lenses by now, but couldn't find anyone who provided such a visual rundown of how these lenses actually function in a real-life setting. I know how much time and effort is put into making such videos, so I just want to say, that you nailed this one off the park mate. I now know what lens to go with!
Jason, I’m just starting out as a vlogger. (I’m 62 😊). I have to say your videos are super helpful. You explain things so clearly. I bought the ZVE10, and a DJI RS3 Mini. For lens I’ve only got the kit lens right now, though I have been gifted an ef-se lens adaptor with auto focus. Do you have a video on recommended canon lens that I could use in differing situations whilst using the adapter? Many thanks. Ps - I unsubscribed other channels to focus on yours because quite simply yours are the simplest to understand.
Hey there, and I'm sorry but I don't have a video on which Canon EF lenses to get for adapting to Sony cameras.... However with that being said, any of the newer EF lenses should work great for photos all be it a bit slower to focus due to the adapting and all... As far as what lenses specifically? Hard to say, but I used to love my EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS Lens in particular for a do everything option. I also used the EF 17-40mm f/4 L Lens a lot for landscapes and stuff. For portraits I would use the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS Lens and the EF 135mm f/2 L Lens for some reference. I hope that helps, Jay
I don't usually subscribe channels but I had to because you replied to almost all comments and queries. I got myself a new zv e10 and as a beginner, seeing you very helpful to other e10 owners is very encouraging for me to click the subscribe button!
You're an incredible teacher Jason. Love this video and also your video tutorial on how to use the ZV-E10. Your tutorials are all so easy to understand. You are thorough and show examples of what you mean and I truly appreciate the lengths you go to in order to help us understand.
Thanks David for the comments and kind words :) This one took me a while to put together.... To your point, the reason I did not include the Sigma 16mm in this list is because the New Sony 11mm f/1.8 Lens and the Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 lens are better options in my opinion. Before these two new lenses, the Sigma 16mm was king for sure ;) All the best, Jay
@@Jason_Hermann The 16 Sigma is not replaced by eith the 13 or 11. It is a 24mm equivalent, the 13 is 20mm equivalent, and the 11 is 16.5mm equivalent all of which are valuable focal lengths, and each with pros and cons. I could make a case for collecting all three over time. I have the Sigma 16mm. I will get the Sony 11 next and when I win a lottery I will add the Viltrox 13. I don't care about the blurry backgrounds, but f1.4 is valuable for exposure in lower light.
I'm looking for my first camera and had no idea there were versatile lenses! Probably going with the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8. Thanks for the thorough review! I learned a lot from you just now.
For me: Sony 15mm f1.4 wide angle Sigma 30mm f1.4 street photography Sony 50mm f1.8 sharpness and portrait Sony 18-105mm f4 video, power zoom, and all around Sony 16-55mm kit lens, light all around
This was an amazing review. I recently bought a ZVE10 camera and I was looking for lens options. I already have a good perspective thanks to you. Last week I bought the Tamron 11-20mm and, once I save more money, I will buy some more using your links to support you. Thanks again!!
Thank you so much for the very kind comments and support using the links Gabriela :) I really appreciate it and if you ever have any questions please feel free to ask! All the best, Jay

You are a godsend! Thanks a ton for putting together this incredible amount of information and making the choice of a lens for the camera infinitely easier.
Really a best lense comparison video on YT. I am a beginner and recently purchased ZV-E10 and this video really helped me to understand about suitable lenses for my use. Thanks a lot for this video!! ❤
U just made my day. So efforts u did in this video to make it so interesting and informative. I just learnt so many things from this video. Love your details about the camera lens and the way they shoot. Thanks for the type of knowledge. Love from India
Best video on lenses for ZV E10 I am watching right now with excellent informations! Just 2 days before I purchased that camera with lenses, but now I am thinking why I couldn't see your video before because I am feeling these other lanses purchase separately can be a much better option than sony camera kit lense. Thank you so much for this information 😊
I have the alpha1 and just bought this one for my wife. She started watching your video and she is now snagging my gm lenses as well as trying all sort of crop sensors. Thanks for taking the time to shoot and edit this video.
i would definitely recommend a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 lens - wonderful compact zoom lens for aps-c for a small price. If I had no Tamron 17-70, I would definitely buy this lens instead. I can agree on most of your recommendations though. cheers!
I want to shoot youtube videos at arms length in aps-c camera and i also want background blur because of messy room should i use kit lens or sony 16mm f2.8 and will 16mm be okay?? PLEASE HELP
Sigma 16mm f/1.4 Lens geni.us/Inpzgn or Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 lens geni.us/VFg9X would be my recommendations for that... The 16mm f/2.8 will work, and at arms length it will be mostly just your head and shoulders in view, but the f/1.4 lenses will provide a much blurrier background.
Man I've been watching your channel ever since I switched from Nikon to Sony, I'm so glad you hit the 100k milestone, you totally deserve it! All the best to you 💚
That is fair, and the Sigma looks to be a great lens! I never used it myself, so it honestly go a overlooked more than it should have ;) I also think the Tamron 17-70 and Sony Zeiss 16-70mm lenses are a bit more versatile with the zoom range... As an alternative to the kit lens though, yeah the Sigma is a Killer option!
This video was amazing. I’ve learned so much. I just purchased my first ever camera. Went with the Sony ZV-E10. I’m a realtor and going to start to property vlogs, and RUclips stuff. Getting several lens’s.
A year has passed since You posted this video….its so relatable just now for me and because i learn from seeing / watching and doing it totally struck a cord and made some brain cells connect missing links 🔗 haha! I’m just starting my journey into more advanced creative video editing and this has helped. Thank you. ❤
Thanks for this great video, it helped a lot but i'm still confused, like should bya the kit lens cause it affordable but if didn't buy that one with the camera then i can only afford one lense which is that Sigma 30 mm, ahh this is confusing what should I do?
Prolly better off going with the kit lens if you are still unsure after watching this video. I would use the kit lens for a bit and try all the zoom range it has for a bit... Then you can re think what lens might be better for what you like to do at some point in the future. For talking to the camera type footage I would get the Sigma 30mm and that will give you a head and shoulders view at about 3 -4 feet and you can get a very blurry background using f/1.4 on that lens.
Glad you enjoyed it and I totally agree about seeing them demonstrated one after another. Very eye opening to people new to lenses and all their various focal lengths and aperture differences.
Gosh this is thorough! Thank you! I'm so interested in the camera to use instead of the my Nikon Z6 for making videos for my youtube channel. It's a nice camera but it's not the perfect solution for video content. I wondered what lens options I would have and you detailed the range in a spectacular fashion.
I agree, but I have not used that lens myself so I did not mention in the video... Sorry about that, but did add it in the description and as a great option as well.
Hey Jason, I really appreciate your content. The detailed explanation is unmatched compared to other channels. I recently purchased the Sony ZV-E10. I'm shooting Podcast style videos at a desk, as well as man on the street interviews on sidewalks, events, etc. What lens or lenses do you think would best suit my needs? I'm trying to keep the cost under $700. Thanks so much!
Enjoyed the video, thank you. I'm curious, when you weren't demonstrating each lens, what lens and camera were you using for your talking head shots (again, excluding the lens demonstration portions of the video)?
This is an awesome video! I’m new to the awesome world of photography/videography & cameras in general. Just got my first camera - zv e10 - & I’m getting very comfortable with the kit lens & looking to get my second one. After watching this video I’m def more confident on what I want, a million thanks! Extremely helpful. P.s - I watched another video right before this one for the same reason (which lens should I get next?) & though it was helpful it did feel incomplete. A million thanks & I look forward to watching more ini
Great detailed review ! Nice to see the footage from all of these lenses. Must have been a lot of work to edit all this footage. Sony has a nice and wide variety of quality lenses for apsc. This is amazing for beginners and enthusiasts.
Yes it was a ton of work, but I new so many people would benefit by seeing the lenses in action in the same studio environment. I really appreciate the kind words Luis :)
First! After seeing a lot of videos explaining about photography, i believe you did the best job covering all the topics. I Just got my a6700 and really love the street photography, but i'm in a little doubt which lens to buy, i know people goes from 15mm to 50mm for street photo, but i want to choose one to start, what lens you considering to be the best for street photography? price and weight i know are important, but focusing in best at all even if it's very expensive. Thank you so much
For street photography I prefer using a fast prime lens, something like the Sigma 33mm, because it's very lite weight as well, however a versatile zoom like the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens would be a great option. I really like the f/1.4 lenses though and the Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 lens is extra awesome, but so large and heavy compared to the Sigma 33mm it's a hard choice depending on how fat the walk is... Those are my thoughts, but it really depends on what you like to shoot and how you view things. A lot of people prefer a wide angle lens for street if there more into architecture for example, so if that is you the 11mm or 13mm lenses might be worth considering.
Need something for product pictures like guitars and other instruments but also for portrait pictures of band members. Would like to stay under the $400 mark and would like to keep it in the Sony brand. Any recommendations?
Well the Sony 35mm f/1.8 lens geni.us/XUZDb would be a good option, but the cheaper Sigma 30mm f/1.4 geni.us/Emr2pam would be a cheaper option for your price range. Although the Sony 35mm f/1.8 does have optical stabilization which is nice....
@@Jason_Hermann which of these would give me that crazy crispy background blur? And would they be any good for full body pics? Also, I keep seeing the sigma 56mm pop up when it comes to product pictures. Would the ones you listed above be direct counterparts to that lens?
@@Jason_Hermann sorry for all the question but I’m just getting into this stuff and it’s so expensive and I wanna buy the right thing. Im subscribed and notifications are on! Thank you so much 😊
@@Juan082998 Well the 30mm f/1.4 @ f/1.4 is going to give you more background blur than the Sony 35mm f/1.8 lens. If you have enough room, the 56mm f/1.4 is also a great option, but you will need to be way further back from the camera if you want full body shots. So depending on your space would decide which lens. I would start with the 30mm because it's awesome and very affordable considering the quality it produces.
great review two things that really bothered me though first you didn´t mention catalyst browse free software stabilization that is gimbal like for a 10 percent crop second after talking about the sony 16-55 you could have showed the sigma alternative that is the e mount 18-50 f 2.8
First at all thanks for all the explanation your video explanation method is real nice. For filming on wedding, celebration, partys or stuff what lenses I have to pick as first options? Just filming not photography
Great video, I'm glad i came across this video while searching for lens options for my ZV-E10, it was a one stop shop for me. You had all the information I was looking for and then some. Love the all the examples you put into the video. I only have the kit lens so far but I'm in the market for a wider lens. Thinking the Viltrox 13mm will do great for my ZV-E10 and Ronin S2 gimbal.
The kit lense can go slow if using the w/t swtich on the side of the lense its self, awkward as hell to use while filming but can be done, just a fyi . Love the video and been amazingly helpful, thank you
Great channel! Just discovered you since it was time to dust off my old canon xti with my 17-55 2.8 lense or my 50 1.8 and realized it was dead. Pretty much set on the ev10 for some filming as well. I love my blur and fast lenses so this helped a ton!
Hey Jason - nice thought about myself as a *sponsor* . I've never seen a RUclipsr say that before - but its so true. Anyway, my ZV-e10 doesn't really leave the house as I record vdo interviews in my home studio. The kit lens isn't giving me the blurry background. I'm trying to keep costs down - so any recommendations on a (prime maybe) lens (any brand) that is best for recording a person talking indoors? I appreciate your time and advice ;) Im thinking the Sony 50mm F1.8 (SEL50F18)
Hey there and thanks for the feedback about the sponsor segment... I was not sure how that would be received, but it is 100% true as you said... As far as lenses I would consider the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens (geni.us/Emr2pam), because it will give you that blurry background and it's very affordable. If the camera is farther away, the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 Lens (geni.us/7HBE) would also be a great option... The Sony 50mm f/1.8 is a very good option also, but if you are using a tripod you don' t need the optical stabilization and the Sigma f/1.4 will give you a more blurry background than f/1.8. I hope that helps and all the best, Jay
Indoors requires a very fast aperture lens due to the horrible lighting, where as an outside requires way more zoom in general and the fast aperture is not as important. So there really is not one best for all in these cases.
Well that really depends how far people are from the camera and how much of the room you would like to show in relation to your subject. For me, I would like something like the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Lens (geni.us/Emr2pam), but the camera and lens would need to be about 4-6 feet away. If you want to show the desk and the person talking you will need something wider like the 16mm f/1.4 lens (geni.us/Inpzgn) Or you could go with a more versatile zoom lens which would give you a variety of ranges to chose from such as the Sigma 18-50mm (geni.us/OXPD6) or the Tamron 17-70mm (geni.us/d3s70B) for example...
I have a few Gimbals... The really small white one you saw in the video is this Zhiyun Crane M3: geni.us/jdtL The larger gimbals I have are the Manfrotto unit: geni.us/oQDweau and the DJI Ronin unit: geni.us/742rxa
great video now I have more knowledge of lenses :) haha I'm kinda new to the RUclips game I just can decide between the Sony E 15mm f/1.4 G Lens or Sony E PZ 10-20mm f/4 G Lens currently using Sony ZVE-10 for vlogging and other content creation......
Question. I deer hunt, but natures best doesn’t always mean you’re shooting bullets. I have Sony ZVE10 kit. Want to film wildlife videos from my stand, anywhere from 10 yds to 300 yds. Most likely mounted on a tripod, possibly a remote. I don’t want to break the bank, but improve over the kit lens. I also bass fish, ride a Harley trike, and love shooting. All which I’d like to video. Which lens would you recommend?
Hey Billy, sounds like you need a lens to do everything included telephoto wildlife shooting! Those are hard shoes to fill for one lens... For an all-in-one lens the Tamron 18-300mm geni.us/GCZeO18 would be one of the best options... The best option for wildlife telephoto would be the 70-350mm lens geni.us/zyB9o0p I would say. That should cover the 10-300 yard situations really well. A much cheaper alternative would be the Sony 55-210mm lens geni.us/dfeE For all the other shooting you are describing I would not want a telephoto lens, but you want something better than the kit so I would recommend the Tamron 17-70mm lens geni.us/d3s70B or the Sigma 18-50mm lens geni.us/OXPD6 I hope that helps and all the best with sunting season, Jay
Great video! Would love to hear your thoughts on videography with these lenses as well. I also heard you can add a booster adapter to further support Canon lenses, so hope you can review them as well especially the Sigma 18-35mm

Great information! I really appreciate it. What really helped was when you compared the video lenses all in a row to show the difference.
Wanted to say thank you for this video. It must have taken SO LONG but it is super helpful!
You are very welcome, and yeah it took me a while to make this one ;)
Really great video! Just got the zve10 and I think I'm choosing the Sigma 30mm as my first lens 😁
Good choice!
Dude LOVE you mountain biking!!! So legit!
Thanks 👊
This was great, thanks! Hearing and seeing the numbers is one thing but seeing the differences in the images, is wonderful.
I wondered what lens options I would have and you detailed the range in a spectacular fashion.
excellent way to introduce about lenses ....very helpful video ....thanks a lot sir
Thanks :)
Amazing video! You've earned my 3rd ever RUclips comment. I really love those Viltrox lens options, definitely next on my list
I just bought my first mirrorless camera! And can’t wait to learn more from you!!! The video was so informative, thank you so much! ☺️
Why didn't you review the Yongnuo 11mm that was on your original list?
That lens was not out when I made this video... I update the list though as new awesome lenses come out.
@@Jason_Hermann I actually appears to be a better buy than the sony!
@@stevesarich2324 Yeah, value for the dollar I agree. Not the same performance 100%, but it's a killer option for sure!
@@Jason_Hermann That remote control is slick. Thanks for response!
wonderful! thanks a lot that makes things very clear.
The sigma 18-50mm 2.8 ist a killer lens, sharp, affordable and small and light
I agree, but I have not used that lens myself so I did not mention in the video... Sorry about that, but did add it in the description and as a great option as well.
Hey Jason, I really appreciate your content. The detailed explanation is unmatched compared to other channels.
I recently purchased the Sony ZV-E10. I'm shooting Podcast style videos at a desk, as well as man on the street interviews on sidewalks, events, etc. What lens or lenses do you think would best suit my needs? I'm trying to keep the cost under $700. Thanks so much!
I would consider something like the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 Lens: geni.us/jwuIF4 It's nice to have that versatile zoom when you need it!
Helpful video 🎉🎉
Glad it was helpful :)
Probably the most useful photography video I've seen to date. Very well explained. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, I recently bought the zv e10, I already own the Nikon d5200, should I sell the Nikon + Tamron 70-300 and invest in better lenses for the Sony?
I would, but that is entirely up to you....
@@Jason_Hermann Better photos with the sony or the nikon? I mean 10 years difference should make it
Enjoyed the video, thank you. I'm curious, when you weren't demonstrating each lens, what lens and camera were you using for your talking head shots (again, excluding the lens demonstration portions of the video)?
Hi Tom, I was using my Sony A7C and Sony FE 35mm f/1.8 Lens for the talking head stuff.....
Thanks so much. You were very thorough. Now I can proceed with my purchase. Awesome job!
You are very welcome and thanks for the kind words Andrea ;)
This video is so in depth 🔥🔥
Hello, very useful video.
Could you please put also the weights in metric? Thank you.
As someone who is looking into a new lens, thank you for testing them all!
My new found guru 🙏 on this Sony ZV-E10 and lens options, You rock! Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with these lenses and zv-e10
Awesome! Thank you!
Just the video that I'm looking for. Thanks for the reviews mate 👍
Love the MTB footage man. Thanks for the awesome video. I went for the Sony E 11mm.
Great video. Beautiful blue background, beautiful photos made with all lenses and good comparison. Thank you
Many thanks!
This was a great comparison! I ended up getting the Sony 11mm and the Tamron 17-70mm.
Thank you and excellent choices!
Awesome 👏🏽 review!! I just Subbed
Thank you!! 😊
Thanks for creating exactly what i needed to see!
You're very welcome!
You are the best!!! A new follower from Perú
great review two things that really bothered me though
first you didn´t mention catalyst browse free software stabilization that is gimbal like for a 10 percent crop
second after talking about the sony 16-55 you could have showed the sigma alternative that is the e mount 18-50 f 2.8
First at all thanks for all the explanation your video explanation method is real nice.
For filming on wedding, celebration, partys or stuff what lenses I have to pick as first options? Just filming not photography
Thank you!!! This was exactly what I needed!
You are dangerous man , our best reviewer 👍👍
Not sure about dangerous, but I get it if your wallet is feeling threatened ;) 👊
Why is not included Tamron 18-300??? I have the 18-135 Sony and I'm thinking go for this Tamron to have more zoom. Great video
With som many lenses to chose I had to leave some out... I agree, that Tamron 18-300mm geni.us/GCZeO18 is a very good all in one lens option!
Good choice and thanks for the very kind words Carlos :)
Appreciate you making this review! It’s amazing and definitely deserve more views ❤️
The kit lense can go slow if using the w/t swtich on the side of the lense its self, awkward as hell to use while filming but can be done, just a fyi . Love the video and been amazingly helpful, thank you
Thanks for the tip!
Thnks Jason well explained keep up the good work will o with sigma lens ❤
Great video! My question is, which budget lens is suitable for sports photography, indoors or outdoors?
Indoors requires a very fast aperture lens due to the horrible lighting, where as an outside requires way more zoom in general and the fast aperture is not as important. So there really is not one best for all in these cases.
Great video, this was really helpful.
Thank you so much for this video. This was really great. I’m glad I found this.
Glad it was helpful :)
just subscribed....You really have a great knowledge..Thank you for sharing this..
You are one cool guy Jason :) Thank you for this amazing video, helped me alot. Cheers bud
This was an incredibly helpful video. Shame there aren't more views on this, it was very well made. Thank you!
Thanks Jalen and your view and kind comments are helping those numbers ;) All the best, Jay
Which lens is best for podcast interviews
What gimbal are you using ?
I have a few Gimbals... The really small white one you saw in the video is this Zhiyun Crane M3: geni.us/jdtL The larger gimbals I have are the Manfrotto unit: geni.us/oQDweau and the DJI Ronin unit: geni.us/742rxa
great video now I have more knowledge of lenses :) haha I'm kinda new to the RUclips game I just can decide between the Sony E 15mm f/1.4 G Lens or Sony E PZ 10-20mm f/4 G Lens currently using Sony ZVE-10 for vlogging and other content creation......
Amazing, amazing video! Literally everything I have been looking for in one video! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
the sigma 30mm f1.4 is my favorite for its price point and quality
