Sony owes a huge debt to you! It was in 2016, 2017 and 2018, when I extensively started watching all your Sony camera videos and decided to buy a Sony a6500 for myself!

Same here in 2015. I bought an a6500 then moved to a7iii, a7R3 in 2018, bought 3 of the a7S3 in 2020, then a1 in 2021. I still have the a6500 which is recording 10+ hours every Saturday (along with the 1 inch RX10, the three a7S3 and A1 for the entire 10+ hours) at SoCal HS track and field meets. The a6500 is still up there in quality even after almost a decade. The RX10 is dated in its 4K so I might replace it with a Sony a7S3.

Hi there. Audio engineer here. I wanted to make a suggestion, your mic quality is amazing, but the amount of mouth and spit noise coming through is a little bit unbearing. Id suggest getting an izotope mouth declick plugin that gets rid of this. You can use this plugin with pro tools or whatever DAW you are using. Will make a collosal difference as mouth clicks and pops are quite unbearable to hear for most people.

I own the A6400 & the A6600. The bigger battery makes a dramatic difference when it comes to a whole day shooting. The quality of the pictures taken with these cameras is outstanding. And the autofocus is 99% reliable. The A6600 is a masterpiece and the A6700 heating problems made me return it, because it's crazy good în specs for video, but it fails at it big time! So the A6600 still rules and records video forever with no issues! Respect to the FX30 which is a beast. The funny thing about the 24 mp sensor is : the Sony A5100 that I still own, performs quite similar to this line-up in photo section. From my point of view, ZV-E10 is just a toy-video-cam. Once you touch a Sony A7III full-frame, you simply can't buy cheap plastic zv-e10, no matter the highly praised specs. And one more thing, all these cameras are less, if you forget to pair them with a proper cage! Accesories like side-handels, hot-shoes and so on are indispensable these dans! Great review! Respect!

The a6600 recording like 2+ hours of 4K (25p here) on one stock battery and without overheating is a rare phenomenon I guess. I also work with 6400 and a6600, and recently added the FX30 for the security of double card slots, and well, I think a fan also helps with not overstressing the internals with heat on the long run. I often record long interviews.

@@knowwork9 A6400 for sure! Extreme photo Power! Video just as good. The only 3 things missing from ZV-E10 are: product show case, blurred background and the ease of recording commends. E10 is lighter and made like a Toy camera, the stabilisation means heavy crop, so... it's up to you. If you buy it for indoors use or to pair it with a gimbal then buy E10 and an Ulanzi second-generation cage for a better grip, it doesn't add any relevant extra weigh... E10 is no good for pictures, outdoors is a pain, but for vlogging is King with a 10-20mm lens.

I looked at one yesterday and it has some great tools within but frankly, didn’t like the size as I was looking for something small and would be more of an EDC. @@NiketBahety As much as I'd like to answer your question if I did there's a very good probability it would be the wrong answer for you. Arthur's video does a great job of explaining where each model fits in the feature matrix. What I would do is list out the features that are important to you then force rank them most to least important. Watch the video again and make note of which models meet your most desired feature set then pick the most current camera that fits your budget. For me, I am less concerned about video but IBIS and the large battery are very important so the 6600 was my choice. I'd love to have the new menu system of the 6700 but at the moment it's not worth the price of upgrade just to get that. If budget is most critical a first generation (6000, 6300, 6500) is where you'll probably find your answer. Remember, all of these cameras can take great pictures but with the right lens (which arguably can be more important). If you have to, scale back your camera selection to get a better lens.

THIS is the video I didn't know I needed. So many options to choose from in Sonyland. The FX30 is by far the best value out of all of these. And it actually shoots great stills (albeit only one at a time since no burst shooting allowed). If video is your jam better than 60% of the time, the FX30 wins every time - especially when it goes on sale for $200 off!

I get around the lack of burst mode by cranking up shutter speed and shooting in 60fps video, then I can grab still frames from the video and export as photos, no raw photo this way of course unless you record said video to something like an Atomos ninja but I think it's a great compromise and work around for my needs

One thing I wish was different is that you can’t use focus tracking when using Animal EyeAF. You need to set it to humans before you can use the tracking feature. I don’t mind it not being available, but just automatically switch to human when using the focus tracking feature. To get around this I’ve mapped the animal/human setting to a custom button.

The Sony APSC means nothing without the proper lens - native and third-party lenses as well. As a Sony A6400 and A6600 owner I recomend some amazing lens: Sony OSS 18-135mm, Sony OSS 35mm f1.4, Sony G 15mm and Sony OSS 70-350mm which are all native APSC lenses, Sony OSS 90mm macro which is full frame, and the following APSC third-party lenses: Viltrox 13mm f1.4, Viltrox Pro 75mm f1.2, and the duo - Tamron 18-300mm + Tamron 11-20mm. In Sigma line I would go strait to ART series - probabily 20mm full-frame... the 24mm APSC f1.4 is also highly recommended... For Sony FX30 one should definitely pick the Sony G 10-20mm for its compact size... if you own these lens, sky is the limit... you don't really need full frame system... stay creative!

No question there is a lot in the A6700 to make people happy. Vs the A6400 the A6700 has it in the AI autofocus, solo video framing feature, battery, 4k video, grip, video stabilization, and dials department, albeit at a much more expensive price tag.
Still, for those who don’t need the most current features, yesterday/years models have strengths at a now compelling enough price to make them good value. I like the flip/tilt up screens of the pre A6700 versions for street photography that the A6700 doesn’t have, (A6700 has a side flip articulating LCD). Also, the A6400 was the last version to have a built in flash that I like that you don’t get on the A6700. Also note, the A6400 is dimensionally smaller and a little lighter than the A6700. And the A6400 goes for 1/2 the price as the A6700 on the used market.

Surprisingly, the A6000 still can take great photos today. We only need some good new lenses for it, Sigma DC DN or Viltrox will revive the A6000 back to life. It's just the AF is too slow now compared its successors.

In my opinion, Sony is going away from photo cameras in the APC segment and transitioning to more video. The a6700 overheats. I purchased one and immediately noticed the heat of the camera when shooting photos. I returned it and bit the bullet and bought a a7cii. It would be nice to have a still version of the a6700 with the buttons of the a6600, which is my favorite of the bunch.

Great to know that someone else is telling the truth about the A6700 overheating problems... Everybody is defending it, but it's far far away from the FX30 cooling system. The Sony A6700 needs a version II upgrade to make it right... A6600 is still King...
