That’s the exact lineup I’m working towards. I got into Sony recently (leaving Canon ef-m, and Canon in general since their recent RF lens announcement) specifically for these lenses. I have started with the 70-350 lens since I didn’t have a telephoto yet. I also got the 18-105 f4 on a pretty cheap deal to cover my mid-range needs temporarily and to experiment. If my budget had allowed it, I’d have gotten the sigma 18-50 f2.8 instead. I’ll get it next for sure, and then definitely that lovely 11 f1.8. I might still keep the 18-105. I actually quite like filming with the smooth power-zoom, and it’s a very useful wide focal range; but one thing I have noticed annoys me more than anticipated, is its long minimum focusing distance… In any case I’m excited by the wide choice of quality glass at affordable prices in the E-mount system.
My travel kit is a Sony ZV E10 with the Sony 10-18mm and the Sony 18-200. Job Done. I also have a Sony ZV1 ii as a EDC, I don't leave the house without it.
I use Tamron 11-20F2.8 + Sony 16-55G + Sony 70-350G lens to cover an extremely wide focal length for my a6600 travel kit. I'll bring the 70-350 only when I know I need that long focal length for the day. I then bring along primes according to the situation, such as the Sony 15F1.4G lens, Sony Zeiss 24mmF1.8 and the Sigma 56F1.4.
I have an a6500 with the SEL70350. Great lens except for one issue. When I go birding it tends to back focus above 250mm. Unfortunately, you can't just DMF and make the minor correction, even with MF Assist zoom the EVF doesn't have enough resolution to tell if it is back focused and the focus peaking has to large a range with f4.8 to tell if it actually hit focus or not. Maybe with a very bright high res external monitor you could tell... but Sony could just firmware update to include animal eye auto focus, cause this doesn't seem to be an issue for a6600 users. Of course they intend we just buy an a6600. Love the camera and lens otherwise and I have a beanbag to use for really long shots. Thanks Jason, good review, I use a 7artisan manual 25mm f1.8 when I want the wide aperture near 50mm equivalent for the reasons you mentioned!
Yes, quite good recommendation! I am using on the A6600 the old Sigma 8-16 via MC-11 Adapter, the Tamron 20-40/2.8 and the 70-350/G. Means, a range from 12-525mm for photography for the night I habe the Sigma 56/1.4.
My kit soon will be the Sony 11, the Sigma 18-50, and the good old Sony 55-210. I'm replacing the manual Samyang 12 with the Sony 11, and the Sony 70-350 with the 55-210, cost-neutral fortunately. Why will I do this, especially with the tele zooms: the 70-350 is a really big piece that I use very rarely. So I prefer having the compactness of the 55-210 over the image quality plus of the 70-350...
Why not the Tamron 18-300mm? Stabilized, even has some macro features. Yes it's big but for it's reach and image quality it's perfect. Love comparing different setups/recommendations, so all good. Cheers and great video.
I use this tamron and I love it, it allows me to learn about portrait, macro, and a bit birding. even I attach it with raynox for a macro 1:1 magnification ratio or more. Hiwever, when the sky gets darker after the dusk, then I change it with my sigma 16mm f1.4.
Tamron 70-300mm is a good budget telephoto option. It's a full frame lens, but costs a lot less than the Sony 70-350, but also lacks OSS, but a great budget option.
Zeiss 16-70 f4 OSS is my universal travel lense for any situation. Thanks to OSS, it's possible to get stills at 1/10, so in low light it much better than f2. 8 zoom without OSS.
I am still using my trusty old SLT and tend to take the Sony 18-135 (f3.5/5.6), which stays on most of the time, but with a Sigma 10-20 f3.5 and a Sony 55-300 f4.5/5.6 to give me a complete range. I may pop in the 35mm f1.8 at times if I need it though.

Great fun watching your videos. My travel kit (stills only 🤠) is the Sony a6600 paired with the hefty Tamron 17-70 and the Sony 70-350. I have a tenba slim backpack insert that it all fits in, so I can be fairly light and compact for motorcycle, hiking or international travel shooting. I also usually carry the larger of manfrotto’s mini tripods. It’s so awesome that more lightweight and fast lenses are coming out for a6xxx series cameras. Yay!
I have a ZV-E10, and Iam planning a holiday trip to Europe, I don´t have any lenses so struggling to choose 3. On the wide angle between Tamron 11-20 or Sony 11, on middle range between Sigma 18-50 and Tamron 17-70, and for Telephoto just discover Sony 70-350 or Tamron 18-300. Any opinions I am also getting Sigma 16 mm F1.4 for filming at home greta price performance combination, but for my trip which selection you would make?
One main reason im squeezing my kit into a Sony main combo... I have that peak design sling and like to fit 2 bodies in it for travel and the Z9 or Canon lenses are much bigger for the best combinations. The new Sony lenses are light and smaller.
I think for travel the full frame 70-300 from Tamron (at a lot less weight and half the cost of the Sony) makes the most sense for most (APS-C or full-frame shooters). I sold my 70-300 G for the Tamron, and see little if any difference in image quality. I sold it for the weight difference. Of course for those who want stabilization, that's different. I'm using the Tamron now with an FX30 BTW.
The Tamron is 545g, whereas the Sony 70-350 is 625g, so not too big a weight difference, but agree their is a big price difference. The full frame Sony 70-300 is 854g, so a lot heavier and even more expensive, and so not such a great option for APSC.
That could make sense if you want to switch to full frame some day in the future. If not, i dont see the point in sacrificing the extra 50mm of the Sony 70-350. The price dropped a lot since release, today it is 600 Euro in europe on amazons black friday sale while the Tamron is 429 Euros. Wich is of course still cheaper but not as much difference than before and the build and image quality of the Sony lens is amazing. I think it is worth it, if fullframe is not necessary in the future.
I just got back from Megaplex 2022 in orlando and I actually got the 11mm f1.8 the day before the con. I used that lens sooo much during the con from quick shots of fursuiters to using it in the parade as a fursuiter to filming a panel with my camera being up front so more people could fit in the room. I rock a 16-50mm pz oss kit lens with 55-210mm oss telephoto and the 11m f1.8 with my white ZV-E10. I know I will get more use out of the 11m when halloween starts up in the themeparks cause it will be great for using in the haunted houses. Finally keep up the great work for providing us aspc users with this helpful info.
Thank you. Picked up an A6700 to augment my full frame Sony bodies so wanted to watch this but went slightly differently with new updates. Have the Sigma 18-50/2.8 and just got a Sony 70-350/4.5-6.3 both in mint used condition. Also did get a Sony 15/1.5 G because 11/1.8 is too wide for me as a prime and will use this more. Also pre-ordered the new Sigma 10-18/2.8 to pair with its mid focal range brother. Did pick up some of the other Sigma DC DN Contemporary primes for special usage but probably won’t travel with them. Great supplement to my full frame kit.
Hi Jason, excellent video! I think that, in the case of apsc, portability is the name of the game. Recently I've been traveling with the sony 18-135 for general purpose (lens very sharp and a very wide zoom range); Tamron 11-20 for wide shots and the Sigma 30mm or 56mm f1.4 for low light. All 3 lenses are very small and sharp.
Yes! I am using the 18-135mm all the time, I think it is the most versatile APS-C travel lens, both wide enough for landscapes and with enough reach for some long-distance shots.
My man already came in and updated the title for the a6700. We like to see it. RUclipsr level: Grand Master. I want to see you compare the 11mm to the Rokinon/Samyang 12mm :)
I have the SAL70300G (4.5 - 5.6), that I use on my NEX7 with a E to A mount adapter. It works great for outdoor shots. It does not have OSS, but you will not be using something like that for video, so with a good tripod, you'll be fine. But the SEL70350G, which is a newer lens with OSS, is a better option for sure. Then again, I bought my camera setup like 10 years ago, so for the time, the SAL70300G, was a really good lens.
How about the Tamron 18-300 f3.5/6.3 with vibration compensation? In my opinion that's the best travel lens for sony apsc right now, $700, 27-450 FF equivalent, paired with a 35f1.8 oss, 2 lenses, there you go ;)
I'm a Sony full frame user for many years. I currently shoot with the a7rV and I want a light camera to travel around with. I'm waiting for the a7cii but it has not even been announced yet. So I'm considering the a6700. I want a compact size to travel and walk around with. All 7 lenses that I own are full frame glass. I'm considering the a6700 but the thought of having to replace all the lenses with aps-c lenses kills me. I'm retired and I don't want to break the bank. What do you think of full frame lenses on the a6700? or should I just wait for the a7cii?? Thanks for your advice. Your fan, Jerry.
Full frame lens work on the crop sensors you just have to times the focal lengths by 1.5. Example a 50mm full frame would be 85mm on an apsc butFull frame lenses give a cleaner look because the sensor on apsc will use the sharpest part of the lens which is the center. I hope this helps and makes sense. Oh and I’ve been using the a6700 for the past 2 days and it doesn’t disappoint. Huge upgrade from my a6400 and same AI in my A7RV
Jason, thanks for the overview of lens. I just purchased a Sony a6700 and added the Sigma 18-50 2.8 lens. I’m also looking at a Sony E-mount FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens and was wondering if there is any concerns with a full frame lens on the a6700 other than the side and weight?
As an alternate for the Peak design clip, I've been using the Belay from Polarpro for a couple weeks now and it's VERY solid. I might have to frankenstein it onto the Peak strap, though, because theirs is so much nicer than the Polarpro one :x
10-18(10-20), 18-105, FE 70-200. A keen eye would notice that the last is a full frame lens which makes it be 105-300mm equivalent. All constant F4, in lens stabilization, enough range to do anything. If I was to wish anything extra is wider apertures but, these lens are pretty good! Some are even G lens.

Don't buy the kit lens.. it's a complete waste..use that money to buy a better lense with OSS. Best is to buy Sony A7IV, most suitable for photography if your budget permits. ZVE10 is a Vlog camera.
Thank you for another great video. Love your content. I have been using Pgytech Beetle for months. Works good for me. Holds my a6600 and Sigma 16mm + Videomic NTG even when I ride a motorbike.

My camera is a6700, also I have lens Sigma 1850, sel35f18 and sel70350g. I use the camera mainly for travelling with my girl friend and sometimes take photos for events and children in the community.
Is Sony 11mm F1.8 better and sharper and better color science than the new Sigma 10-20mm F2.8? Would you still go with the Sony one for wide angle instead? I take real estate photography and would like to know which would be better for for the Sony a6700.
Hi, are Tamron lenses comparable to Sigma; I don't hear as much praise about Tamron. I planning on getting an A6700 body an Tamron lenses run less in price. Thx! 😊
You mentioned not using ND Filters for a while; is this because you take more photos than video? I'm really curious as to how you get away with not using any as i feel they're absolutely necessary?
Nope, still half and half for photos and videos. NDs are not absolutely necessary but they do help. I'm just tired of bringing them and have to deal with weird color shifts so I crank up my aperture to f/8 to f/16 in bright conditions. Since I do a lot of wide landscape cityscape type shots, it works fine. Yeah at times, I wish I could film wide open for bokeh but very rare nowadays.
Will getting the Tamron 70-300mm be a bad idea for A6400? neither the camera nor lens have stabilization. I’m only using for travel photography and occasional portraits. Thanks in advance!

Would you consider the Tamron 70-300 mm F4.5-6.3 Di III in stead of the Sony SEL 70-350mm f4.5-6.3 G OSS considering the price difference? If not, why?
Probably not, Tamron should launch an apsc superzoom that keeps up with the modern demands. I rented the 70 300 and found it giving quite soft i.q , much softer than my 17 70 plus the lack of V.C made me keep the S.S way high which was problematic in any non ideal light situations.

If my budget had allowed it, I’d have gotten the sigma 18-50 f2.8 instead. I’ll get it next for sure, and then definitely that lovely 11 f1.8.
I might still keep the 18-105. I actually quite like filming with the smooth power-zoom, and it’s a very useful wide focal range; but one thing I have noticed annoys me more than anticipated, is its long minimum focusing distance…
In any case I’m excited by the wide choice of quality glass at affordable prices in the E-mount system.
Thanks for the video
Super fun and hilarious rundown on your favorite lenses, thanks Jason! Now it's time to go shopping. Hello KEH...
My travel kit: 14mm f1.8 gm, 16-35mm f2.8 gm, tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8, and a7iii(waiting for a7rv)
11:26 So satisfying to hear Zhiyun pronounced correctly! Heard too many "zhaiyoon", "Zion" and so on!
Thanks man, just got a ZV-e10.
With the FX30 out, APSC is now in our sights. This video will help us consider making the change from FF.
Watching this video knowing I have purchased this exact kit of lenses and an A6700 makes me feel really good. Sony did indeed deliver. 😊
… my travel kit is „Sony only“: 10-20 F4, 15 F1.4, 16-55 F2.8 and 70-350 F4.5-6.3 and of cause the a6600. 😊
Just curious, what is the 15mm f1.4 for? Low-light situations?
@@madebyPure … jep, street photography in the evening or at nighttime and of cause a bit astrophotography (but I’am not a expert in that case, just for fun).
@@TW-iu9zy makes sense, cool!
@@madebyPure … yes, after 3 years using the a6600 I love the IQ and would not switch. But I hope next year we finally will get a successor with the new menu and better ergonomics.
6600 over 6400? If your doing photo and video?
2:37-2:40 That's an Oscar right there.
Please what lens do you recommend, for this camera. The goal is to create content and photograph the family.
Your energy is contagious! Thanks for these tips and keep up the awesome videos. Subscribed ✅
Yay!
Honestly that’s pretty perfect! The Tamron covers most ranges and the Sony takes you even further!
Nice I have the same camera and lenses. I was able to capture amazing photos with both lenses
Tamron 17-70 is my favorite lens
One main reason im squeezing my kit into a Sony main combo... I have that peak design sling and like to fit 2 bodies in it for travel and the Z9 or Canon lenses are much bigger for the best combinations. The new Sony lenses are light and smaller.
Would you swap out the Sony 11mm for the sigma 10-18 f2.8? How bout the sigma 70-200 f2.8 for telephoto?
I would take the Sony 15mm 1.4 G, Sony Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8 and the Zeiss Batis APO-Sonnar 135mm 2.8
I've two out of the three. The 70-350 and 15-50. For wide, I've the Tamron 11-20, which is more versatile.
My travel kit is 18-135mm and sigma 30mm f1.4
Pgytech Beetle works well with the Mantispod. It is as secure as PD capture clip.
now that the sigma 10-18 f2.8 is coming would you still recommend the 11mm f1.8?
Hi Jason! How about the Tamron 18-300 instead of the Sony 70-350?
Hi Jason. Do you think the Tamron 18-300 would be good in a kit instead of the Sony 70-350?
I'm wondering about this too.
Yes
Fun, that is exactly my kit :) very happy with it.
Fantastic video! Tons of useful info.
My kit that goes with my Sony a6300 is the Sigma trinity of f1.4 primes (16, 30, and 56mm).
i have an a6400 and i only use the zeiss 24mm f1.8, it's an incredible lens
I have the SAL70300G (4.5 - 5.6), that I use on my NEX7 with a E to A mount adapter. It works great for outdoor shots. It does not have OSS, but you will not be using something like that for video, so with a good tripod, you'll be fine. But the SEL70350G, which is a newer lens with OSS, is a better option for sure. Then again, I bought my camera setup like 10 years ago, so for the time, the SAL70300G, was a really good lens.
Jason - I find all I need is a APS 24-400 mm lens.
The transitions are so slick
Laowa 9mm ultra wide, Sony 16-55 G, Sony 70-350 is the BEST TRAVEL TRIO!!! Change my mind!!
What camera body you use ?
Subscribed! Since some of the shots in this video was done at Arab St, Singapore. Awesome and thanks Jason.
How about the Tamron 18-300 f3.5/6.3 with vibration compensation? In my opinion that's the best travel lens for sony apsc right now, $700, 27-450 FF equivalent, paired with a 35f1.8 oss, 2 lenses, there you go ;)
Thanks for the review, what would you recommend as a starter lens for the a6700 primarily photos/videos for traveling (landscapes/portrait).
Im deciding 13:25 between the 70-200 f4 gii and the 70-350 ... Im full time traveling... Whats the big difference there except the range
Great Sony APS-C round up! 👏🏼
You spoke the FX30 into existence 😮💨
As an alternate for the Peak design clip, I've been using the Belay from Polarpro for a couple weeks now and it's VERY solid. I might have to frankenstein it onto the Peak strap, though, because theirs is so much nicer than the Polarpro one :x
I'm a new ZVE-10 owner, The Tamron 17-70 can be used with it right? Essentially all the lenses discussed can be used with the ZVE-10? Plz confirm this
yes
Hows the Tammie 18-300?
Hi Jason, Great Video !!! What 3 lenses do you recommend for Sony full frames ?
Great video!
The alternative and for still photographers often better choice, for the 70-350, is the Tamron 18-300mm.
Been waiting for a video like this! I have the 6400 and just got the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 lens.
Hi Jason, I would like to get a zve10 but not sure should I get with the lens kit and get a sony 15mm f1.4 with capable of low light ,or I just buy the body of the zve10 and sigma16-50mm which is not so good in low light. I’m using the camera for photography only
Don't buy the kit lens.. it's a complete waste..use that money to buy a better lense with OSS. Best is to buy Sony A7IV, most suitable for photography if your budget permits. ZVE10 is a Vlog camera.
Almost my setup! I just use the 10-20 f/4.
A6600 body paired with a Samyang 12mm F2, Sony 16-55 f2.8 and the Sony 70-350
Looking to upgrade the Samyang to the new 11mm lens
Thank you for another great video. Love your content. I have been using Pgytech Beetle for months. Works good for me. Holds my a6600 and Sigma 16mm + Videomic NTG even when I ride a motorbike.
Thanks for sharing your beetle experience!
The tamron 11-20 f2.8 is also another good one to have
Thanks Jason, this video was very helpful!
Hey Jason, 2:25 are you saying there will be a new APSC camera release this year or you were hoping Sony will release one this year?
Hoping
I am not sure whether to buy sel11f18 or sel15f14, could you pls give me some suggestion?
At this moment, the usage of wide angle lens is not clear for me, but I see many photo-graphers have one.
My camera is a6700, also I have lens Sigma 1850, sel35f18 and sel70350g.
I use the camera mainly for travelling with my girl friend and sometimes take photos for events and children in the community.
Yes matched the camera I use and country that I live in ✅
I just got A700 but I am looking for a best lens option for nice bookeh, recording myself from 2-3 meters. What do you recommend?
Check out the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 or the Sony 15mm f/1.4
@Jason Vong , what about the Tamron 17-70mm do you still use the lens
I made a review after using it for about a month. Great lens! But a lil too big
Is Sony 11mm F1.8 better and sharper and better color science than the new Sigma 10-20mm F2.8? Would you still go with the Sony one for wide angle instead? I take real estate photography and would like to know which would be better for for the Sony a6700.
Was that "crazy reach" at 8:55 ? Yes, yes it was
Which Gimpal Recommed you best use in sony a6700?
Hi, are Tamron lenses comparable to Sigma; I don't hear as much praise about Tamron. I planning on getting an A6700 body an Tamron lenses run less in price. Thx! 😊
My 16-55 is glued to my a6600 but it is pretty big. Still the sharpest APS-C zoom that ive used on my Sony.
I have the 18-50 sigma and thinking I really want the 16-55 instead , I really would rather have it wider
What is the beginner level camera? Do you have any suggestions?
@jason - Falcam is coming out in August with a new plate for the M3 that is Arca Swiss compatible. Look for part 2858! I'm getting it!
NOOO WAY! thanks for letting me know!
I love watching your videos. From India ❤️
Nice video Jason . Thank you so much . The way u speak is truly awesome. I have one query . I do not travel a lot only twice on a year . I have Sony A 6000. Kit lens and sigma 60 mm 2.8 . If I have to ask u that which single lens u would like to advice or recommend for my Sony A 6000. Just one lens if I have to keep along with the 2 lens I mentioned . Also sometimes I use canon eos lens with adapter on Sony . Thank u in advance
Would you consider the Tamron 70-300 mm F4.5-6.3 Di III in stead of the Sony SEL 70-350mm f4.5-6.3 G OSS considering the price difference?
If not, why?
Wondering the same for ZV-E10!!
Probably not, Tamron should launch an apsc superzoom that keeps up with the modern demands. I rented the 70 300 and found it giving quite soft i.q , much softer than my 17 70 plus the lack of V.C made me keep the S.S way high which was problematic in any non ideal light situations.
hello ! could you advise me if i have to choose between the sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 and the sony e 16-55mm f/2.8 ?
It was great bumping into you at Yodobashi yesterday! Going to add the Sony 11mm to my collection 👍
You make gear review so much fun! You are a funny guy!
which would be the only one best lens for a6700, has sharper image and best quality in low light for both photo and video, autofocus among all Sony, Sigma even new release this year?. Any recommendation...
