    As a former sony shooter yes, I think this a6700 is great but I still don't regret at all getting my Fuji X-T5. It's always great to see that sony ain't gonna get rid of their APSC cameras anytime soon. It will be definitely good for anyone with APSC cameras getting sure that third party companies will keep on developing great lenses for the APSC ecosystem 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

      As a Sony shooter I still won't buy it. For me I am using an A7RIV which can also shoot 10 frames per second, I would like a new Sony APSC to have the same resolution as the Fuji XT5 and also shooting at much faster frame rates and also adding features like focus bracketing and pre-shots

    Bought an a6000 a couple years ago after my buddy talked me into getting into photography. I've loved it, but it has definitely felt the age. I'm ready for an upgrade and I don't want to have to swap out my lenses just yet, plus I like the crop cameras for traveling. Literally, love having a camera and my 3 main lenses with me (20mm, 35mm, 50mm) in pockets or on the camera, and can walk around without needing a camera bag. I'm looking forward to this one, the touchscreen autofocus, the fold out screen, it just feels like the one I want to go to without going full frame yet.

  • @nafnaf0
    @nafnaf0 Год назад +1

    The A6700 is very impressive and at $1,400 an outstanding value. My 3 favorite features from what I have seen:
    1. The little photo / video / S&Q dial below the standard selection wheel, that is genius by Sony. I hope / expect that feature to be on the A7Cii.
    2. The upgraded grip and wheel on the grip. Big wins here
    3. The fast responding 26MP Exmor R BIS sensor from the FX-30 (this is a big deal)
    I kind of wish they would have upgraded the EVF resolution a bit, but having it brighter might be good enough. The EVF on the A6600 wasn't bad, it is still nothing like the EVF on the A7Rv obviously.

  • @GrantSR
    @GrantSR Год назад +3

    I've been watching the price of the a6600 for months, now. I was convinced that that is the one I would get, once the used price dropped below $1,000 (and I could afford it). At first, I was only happy that the a6700 came out, because I figured it would drop the used price of the a6600. But, that only dropped by $40 today. Maybe it will drop by more, later.
    Buuuuuttt.....
    After watching almost a dozen RUclips videos about the a6700 today, I think I have been convinced that the extra $400 -$500 for a NEW a6700 (vs. a USED a6600) might actually be worth it. The a6600 hit all my minimum requirements for a second Sony body (to add to my A7R2)... but only just barely. And I was primarily going to use it for filming the talking head part of training videos. As you said, the a6700 kinda blows the a6600 out of the water. Now, I will never give up the 42 megapixels of my A7R2, but I mostly use that for landscapes and what I call "found still lifes." But, those are subjects that I can take all the time in the world to capture. I can easily see the a6700 becoming my everyday camera.

    As a guy that does straight photography with an a6600, while the 6700 is nice, I'll stick with the the 6600. The advantages for me are minimal imo.
    That being said i think they def did a step in rhe right direction.

    • @GrantSR
      @GrantSR Год назад +1

      Very good point. If I was only going to use the a6600 for photography, then I would just get that. But, I have an A7R2 for photography, and was thinking about getting the a6600 for video and as a compact, everyday photo camera. But, now, I can get lot's more video features with the a6700 and still use my A7R2 when I really want that 42 Megapixels.

      Maybe Jason will put together a comparison of pluses and minuses of the full frame, aps-c and phone systems. That sort of selection discussion can go on forever, and like some cameras, overheat. Maybe get some hands-on time with both the smaller and larger bodies and a couple of lenses to see how you like them. You want something that feels good and you want to work/play with. Then one could narrow down just what other features are needed.

And time just allows me to save more $$$. As this point the FX3 is still my comparable dream camera. Just disappointed with all the heat issue (features?) since living in AZ and doing longer format and outdoor video...I'd get frustrated quick and end up wasting a lot of time in shut downs. I currently have an a6600 with lenses covering up to 600mm in the form of the Tamron 17-70mm, Sony (first gen) 70-200mm f/4 G and the Sony 200-600mm.
    I'm not sure whether or not to upgrade to the a6700 or to go FF with the a7Riii, the 6600 has served me well and the a7Riii may just be an is the grass greener on the other side sort of thing.
    The 70-200 has only just been purchased and I decided to go with the first generation because of the internal focus, something that I liked from the 200-600.

    Might as well go to FF at this point...The only thing APS-C has been missing are compact quality primes like a 23mm F2 (35mm equivalent) and 18mm F2 (28mm equivalent) that can rival the size and performance of the offerings from Fuji and the Leica CL. People want compact inconspicuous bodies and lenses for everyday carry, street and travel.

      No need to wait on Sony's, Sigma has excellent APS-C lenses to use. I used it with 17mm Sigma (F1.8?) and 28mm F2.0 Sony. Both magnificent lenses. The 28mm has a super nice flare. Theater spotlights get lovely round flares.

      @kevin.itruth6880 Год назад +1

      @@tomghzel Sigma is doing great things for APS-C but the 17mm is not 1.8 its an F4 I believe and the DCGN line is amazing but most of them are large and front heavy for APS-C (currently using the Sigma 23 1.4). We just need Sony or someone to release some compact quality pancake or close to pancake lenses for easy casual carry. 23 F2 and 18 F2 would be perfect, I wouldn't ask for anything from them again. The entire point of APS-C was small bodies and lenses for portability and easy everyday carry.

      This is the deal breaker for me. I took a gamble knowing that this camera was coming out and picked up the Sony A7IV to pair with my FX30. I'm glad I didn't wait!!

    despite the fact, that A7III is full frame I wonder which one will be a better pick when it comes mostly for photography. I'm about to switch from Canon 60D to Sony ecosystem, and firstly i chose A7III. But now i think maybe it is better to buy new camera (not 5 y.o) and stick to APS-C (like my old camera).

      Been on a6400 after years of Nikon... I still haven't been able to justify going up to the a73. With the Sigma trio and some zooms, I have everything I need whether stills or video.
      This is coming out at a pretty good price for all the advanced features imho.
      I stopped obsessing over crop vs full frame a while back and now I just.... shoot... and it makes me happier :)

    Hello Jason,total newbie here looking to buy his first ever camera,and just barely started reading up on everything photography. Your channel has been a huge help already. I would like to ask anybody here,would you recommend this for someone as their first camera? I don't really have any plans of shooting videos at all,I'm mostly interested in stills and specifically people and landscape photography. Based on what I understand this far from watching other videos of Jason,I should be looking to get an 85mm lens for my purposes,so I was thinking of buying this camera with the 18-135mm kit and also getting a dedicated 85mm,just for a bigger variety of options.I feel like this could be considered overkill for a first camera,but I've always been a huge Sony nerd so I'm not even considering other manufacturers.BTW,no intentions of attempting to become a pro,i just short of accidentally got hold of a sony a7iii shooting a video of a pro photographer who visited my workplace,and the dude let me play around with the camera for 30 whole minutes,and it was instant LOVE.

    Do you think I'll have overheating issues recording 4k at 24/30fps for a few hours? How about streaming for 10 hours? I could always go down to 1080p.
    I like the idea of the 6700 over the fx30 as my first camera. But there are so many mixed opinions online about the overheating.
    Geat video btw.
