But I have been working with mainly smartphone and GoPro cameras. Do you feel its worth getting dedicated camera like 6700 instead of relying on smartphone camera? Your advice is hugely appreciated!!
I tend to use both when I’m on vacation myself. I use the mirrorless cameras for when I want more professional looking video but use the iPhone when it’s just something I want to capture quickly, and I’m not worried about the quality
@@KyleWattsTV Nope, we mostly stayed on the resort and had a wedding to go to. If we had a couple more days we probably would’ve done something like that
Great video. Did you use a gimbal or tripod with a sigma lens to shoot the video? If not, do you rely on the ibis camera and how does it perform when shooting handheld? (Is it possible to rely on it)? Or should I buy a Tamron 17-70 lens that has an optical stabilizer?
No tripod, all handheld in active stabilization. The active is the same as what’s on the a7siii and the fx3. It’s pretty good. The only thing better is the new dynamic stabilization that the zve1 and a9iii has
The Tamron 17-70 and 18-300 optical stabilization is really good . Used on Sonys without IBIS. It is chunkier than the Sigma, but also has a much better range. I see the sigma as a great option for a casual lens, or portrait lens. But the Tamron 17-70 is a better option if size does not matter. Also the Sigma zoom rotates opposite than any other zoom, you have to get used to. I have both zooms. For travel if I had to choose one, definitely the Tamron. I would look at the sigma 18-50 f2.8 which I used in this video or the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8. I personally like the Tamron a bit more because it’s a stabilized lens and has a better range but it is a bit more expensive. Hey Kyle. Nice video. I am in a confusion right now. I found a7c from market place in around the same price as a6700. I was wondering which one I should take. Would appreciate your suggestion.
@@nakhlarafi5118 the a6700 has all the new auto focus tech for both photo and video as well as 10 bit color which is better than the a7c. Plus lenses will be less expensive for the a6700 versus the full frame lenses.
@@KyleWattsTV Thanks Kyle for your insights! Really appreciate that. Would there be that much of a difference in low light performance in terms of photography between these two? I am very new to mirrorless cameras. All I ever did before was random mobile phone photography.
The fx 30 is basically the same camera but it’s more video based. It has no evf, it uses an eltronic shutter and has a built in fan. If you want to have the same video capabilities as well as a better photo camera, go with the a6700.
@@KyleWattsTV Thanks. The noise about overheating is why i had second thoughts about the a6700. It seems to be an amazing camera. Just sold my a6400. This seems to be the perfect upgrade.
@@KyleWattsTV Yeah. Thats really reassuring. We just had a crazy summer here in North India, with temperatures touching 50 degrees celsius (122 degrees fahrenheit). Will save some $$ and go for the a6700. Thanks once again for your valuable opinion.

I have a question for you Kyle, I'm looking for a camera, this will be my first proper camera and I will be teaching myself how to use it. My wife and I recently have twins and the main purpose of the camera will be to capture special moments in picture and video. I don't mind spending a little bit more now but the camera will have to last a few years. What would you suggest?
This would be a great camera for that. It does have some features you probably wouldn’t need but a less expensive version of this camera is the Sony zv-E10 and that is also a solid camera for photo/video
Great job on the video Kyle! Thanks for making it. The 15mm G lens lives on my a6700 (occasionally I will use a 35mm CCTV lens adapted from C-Mount) but I often want something with some zoom. It's down to this lens or the 16-55 G from Sony.
Kyle great informative video, beautiful scenery and nicely done. I just bought the A6700 and was considering purchasing either the Tamron 17-70mm 2.8 or your Sigma 18-50 mm 2.8. I was wondering what your thoughts are on the Tamron 17-70 vs the Sigma 18-50 mm ?? thank you
@@johnkaper1129 both are great lenses and both have their pros. The sigma is sharp and super compact and the tamron has a wider focal range and has built in lens stabilization, but it isn’t as compact. Can’t really go wrong with either but if you don’t mind spending the extra money and have a larger lens I’d go with the tamron
This video is filmed in bright sun. SLOG3 at 800iso. I tried shooting birds 4k 120 with 10:00 am sun and shade and got noice. I tried 640 iso and it wasn't much better.
If you’re just starting out I would check out the Sony ZvE-10 and Sonys 10-18mm / Sony 10-20mm or Tamron 11-20 which are perfect vlog lenses. If you have the budget the a6700 is a big upgrade from that camera, just double the cost
That’s a hard choice. The zve1 is definitely more of a video camera with a lot of the same features, but I cropped 4k 120fps and better in lowlight for sure, but as an all around the a6700 is solid for photo and video. I would probably compare it more to the a7iv.
we just purchased this camera. It feels a lot better then our a6400 for video and having IBIS. Being new to editing we found out during setup if you film in 4.2.2 10bit we cant edit on divinci unless you buy the pro version for 450CAD. For everyday use would you recommend shooting in 8bit in S cinetone vs s log 3 and having to add luts to everything? we primarily will be using in the snow
S cinetone or even standard if you don’t want to add luts but if filming in snow conditions, slog3 does help a lot to deal with the highlights. Also I didn’t know that the free version of divinci doesn’t allow 10 bit. What computer are you using?
@@KyleWattsTV we edit on a high end pc computer. If you load 10 bit into divinci non pro version it will only play as an audio file. You have to get the paid 450$ version
@@Just3adventures I personally use Lexar v90 128gb. You could go 256gb but I like to use 128 incase the card somehow ever goes corrupted, just less to lose.
Great video and great sample footage. If I can give one video editing tip, please place your titles a bit farther from the edges of the screen. When watching on a TV, I couldn’t read your little titles in the corner when you label which lens is used because it was cut off by the edge of the screen. I always give a good margin on titles because it can get cut off depending on the device. Cheers!
For the vlogging scene did you use the Sony 10-18 lens or the sigma 18-50...I want to get a lens for vlogging and photography what is your opinion on both of these lenses...would I be able to do both with the sigma 18-50 or would I need the 10-18 too? Im just getting into apse cameras and I am thinking of getting this camera, Thank you for your help :) !!!
The 18-50 is what I was using but with a fully out reached arm. It is usable for vlogging but the 10-18 is perfect for vlogging. I have the Sony 10-18 f4 but there are new versions of that lens as well as the tamron 11-20 f2.8 which is pretty nice.
@@F.elip3 the 17-70 is a really good lens too. Just filmed a photography pov video in NYC with the a6700 and the tamron 17-70 hopefully I’ll have it edited soon

Such a good review and efficient!!! I've been looking at this series for a while to have a second camera in my mix to go with my A74. I think your review pushed me to order... : )
This will pair very well with the a7iv. It’s basically the a7iv in crop or super 35 mode but with better autofocus
When you show the color science are those photos edited?
Hey Kyle.
Hi kyle. Amazing video. This or the FX30. I am confused. Thanks
@@nilanshgaur I’ve used this camera a bunch and I haven’t even seen the warning light come on. Even when we were in Mexico in very hot weather
@@KyleWattsTV Yeah. Thats really reassuring. We just had a crazy summer here in North India, with temperatures touching 50 degrees celsius (122 degrees fahrenheit). Will save some $$ and go for the a6700. Thanks once again for your valuable opinion.
Great footage
Been waiting for your review on this!!! Thank you, I’m sold!
Took a while to get my hands on the camera and finish the video
Thank Kyle, really good video and idea about my next camera. Happy Thanksgiving!
Super dope video 🔥🔥🔥
Marriage seems a bit stressful tho 😮💨 yikes
I’m even more excited & feel more confident than ever about my decision to get this camera
Now it’s time to get to work cuz it ain’t always about the gear but more so the user (that said this is a pretty sick piece of tech here boys 🔥🔥🔥)
Amazing video! Where in Mexico is this? I’m interested in staying at this place lol
Playa Del Carmen at the Xcaret Occidental resort
Great job on the video Kyle! Thanks for making it. The 15mm G lens lives on my a6700 (occasionally I will use a 35mm CCTV lens adapted from C-Mount) but I often want something with some zoom. It's down to this lens or the 16-55 G from Sony.
Kyle great informative video, beautiful scenery and nicely done. I just bought the A6700 and was considering purchasing either
the Tamron 17-70mm 2.8 or your Sigma 18-50 mm 2.8.
@@KyleWattsTV Thank you , John
awesome looking pictures! did you use any preset on them? if so, care to share? thanks in advance 😊
No presets, just some basic adjustments
This video is filmed in bright sun. SLOG3 at 800iso. I tried shooting birds 4k 120 with 10:00 am sun and shade and got noice. I tried 640 iso and it wasn't much better.
Great video and a great review. I have a question, can I use Sandisk extreme pro cards for fotography on this camera ? Thank you!
I haven’t personally tried but I would guess yes you can. The burst settings might require a higher card like a v60 but also not 100% on that
Hi i don't know much about camera and lens but which lens do you prefer for RUclips vlogs?
Is this camera is good vlogging ?
If you’re just starting out I would check out the Sony ZvE-10 and Sonys 10-18mm / Sony 10-20mm or Tamron 11-20 which are perfect vlog lenses.
If you have the budget the a6700 is a big upgrade from that camera, just double the cost
The photos looked really good 🔥
Amazing 😮
I am going to buy this camera very soon, God willing❤😊
11:43 are these images JPEGs because they look amazing
Question for u pal.. Sigma 18-50, Tamron 17-70, Sony 16-55 if you could pick only one?
Tamron 17-70. Better range and have image stabilization. It is bigger and more expensive but worth it.
After testing both, which do you prefer a6700 or ZV-E1?
That’s a hard choice. The zve1 is definitely more of a video camera with a lot of the same features, but I cropped 4k 120fps and better in lowlight for sure, but as an all around the a6700 is solid for photo and video. I would probably compare it more to the a7iv.
Great video bro!!! Solid….solid!
Only thing missing is a dual SD slot, and it should've competed w/ Fuji for the crop sensor camera department
we just purchased this camera.
@@Just3adventures I was gonna say try Final Cut if you had a Mac, cause it works on there but if your on a pc you can’t use Final Cut.
@@KyleWattsTV thanks for the help Kyle! What v90 card would you recommend ? And would you get a 256 or 2 x 128?
@@Just3adventures I personally use Lexar v90 128gb. You could go 256gb but I like to use 128 incase the card somehow ever goes corrupted, just less to lose.
Any vintage lenses to use?
Good video, but i wish you covered low light.
Cheers!
Hi are you satisfied with the sharpness of the sigma 18-50 on your 6700? Thanks! I might buy this combination
It’s a very sharp lens center to edge. I was actually pretty surprised how good the lens was.
hey bro nice video. what's the font that you use in the thumbnail? just curious
Awesome video dude! What a cool trip to! 🤙🏻
Thanks bud! Mexico has such good colors!
Hi Kyle! Did it overheat while you were using it?
Not once. Plus it was very hot when we were there
Great video!! Thank you for all the in and outs of this beast camera!! 🔥
thank you for the honest review.
That was a really good video!
@@KyleWattsTV Thank you for your input :) I look forward to getting a tamron 11-20 f2.8 and their 17-70 f2.8 lens
@@F.elip3 the 17-70 is a really good lens too. Just filmed a photography pov video in NYC with the a6700 and the tamron 17-70 hopefully I’ll have it edited soon
Which lenses should I get first for daily photoshoots and videography?
Hello beautiful video really. I wanted to ask you if you used active stabilisation for shooting with sigma 18-55 or if you stabilised in post production?
I was using active stabilization.
Great video. I have full frame F4 20-70 sony lens
What do you suggest
Nice!!! Hi do u mind sharing what video editing software u use for this video and the export settings? Thanks 🙏🏼
Thanks for the video. At 10:37, did you switch to active stabilization?
That part of the video is on the a6700 with the sigma 18-50 with active turned on.
What a fantastic review!
