Another solid video! I was tossing between this A6700 and the A7Cii or A7CR. As you mentioned the APS-C set-up with APS-C was the deciding factor for me. I wanted the smaller total set-up. The telephoto options in APS-C are much smaller and lighter than the full frame options. I would have picked the A7Cr, as it will also shoot in APS-C at similar resolution (when I want to go small) but the price was more than I wanted to pay for it. So I'm happy with my A6700. Really solid on soo many points.
Been using it for a month. Brought it on my trip to HK during monsoon season. Shoot with it in an event with mostly low light set up as a b cam vs A7miii. I showed the photos taken at the same spot and same lens as A7miii to a few professional photograhpers.....3 out 5 people could not tell the diffrences and 1 of the later 2 thought that a6700 photos were shot on the FF A7miii....OVerheating issue? Never the concerns for me as I do not shoot talking head or interview. Sure the camera would become warmer to the touch but nothing stop it from fucntioning during my trip to Hong Kong. Overall, great value proposition for the price. I feel it's about time I retire the A7miii I just recently bought 2nd hand from a friend. Side note, I shot all the footages and photos during the trip and event on 18-50 sigma and 24mm f1.4 gm. Thus, I am looking to also retire my 24mm f1.4 and get the 23mm sigma instead due to its size and weight......could be nice to get your advice on this?

I'm interested in your feedback. I come from an a6500 and was initially considering this a6700 as an upgrade. Do you see a big difference in low lights ? Awesome thanks. Here is one you can think of doing if you run out of ideas. Do one on the a6700, Laowa 9mm 2.8 vs Sony 11mm specifically for interior video walkthru's. Detailing 30fps and 60fps slowed down 50%, using various optimal f-stops, iso's as well as active and gyro stabilisation and their differences as well as off all done on a gimbal to test for superior smoothness. Duration of clips 5 to 10 second clips of pushing and pulling out of interiors such as a lounge with open curtained windows and basic slow panning. Discussing exposure and what your optimal exposure and exposure tools you will advise on such as zebras, over exposing etc. That would be brilliant. You being so knowledgeable it is sure to be an episode I am sure many will not want to miss. Thanks again, love your channel.
Loved you starting the video with a blooper! I don't shoot video for more than 5 minutes at a time, so have not had overheating issues with my a6700, but have heard the tales. I feel there are subtle differences between the ZV-E10 & a6700 colour science too, with the a6700 being slighly more muted (natural looking), although both are very good.
For a prosumer such as myself it is perfect for us advanced hobbyists that aren’t worried about that need for the professional level. I will be replacing my Nikon d7500 with the 6700 to compliment my zv-e10.
Great video, loved getting a peak at some of your photography stills and shots. Super interesting about TimeBolt, looks super useful. I’ll have to check it out.
Dear friend. Thank you for your great review. It is extremely useful for zv 1 users like me. And now, after much consideration, I have decided on the a 6700. Warm greetings from the Czech Republic and I invite you to Prague... there is a lot to photograph there and not only... :)❤
this review was good AF.... Nice!!!!!! 6600 was my dream camera begginer hobie, imagine how i feel now with this new one... and your review was the best so faaaar
I traded my a6600 in to get the a6700 (still waiting for it to come in). I can't wait to throw my 150-600mm on it for some birding! Although I hope it plays well with the adapter and my old 18 400mm Tamron, it was such a perfect travel /walk around setup on the a6600,
I'm upgrade from an A7rii to this. I've always just wanted it for video but the A7rii was the best option at the time. The only thing I'm worried about is low light
Bro i think i already found the best camera reviewer on youtube and im gonna stick with ur youtube video only. Amazing video edit right there. I hope that more people find your video. Road to 100K!
Video idea: I’m looking to buy a Sony 6xxx series camera so that when I go to restaurants with family/friends and it’s dimly lit, or taking pictures on birthdays etc in low light in the evenings at home, the iPhone always falls apart. I’d love to know what lens would be best. (This review was great btw).
regard low llight performance, which I heard her often. When you compare the ff sensor of the A6700 with the the FF sensor of A7, A7S, A1 your are right, the have bigger pxel size and relativ less pixel per sqare unit. But the A7R5 and the new 7CR has with 61 Megapixel on FF the same number on the reduced APS-C size, you can select, 26 Meagapixel. So, the „solution beast“ A7R5 (and the older A7R4) and the smal body size A7CR with FF Sensor is in low light on the same level as the A6700 with APS-C.
I really appreciate your videos on the Sony a6700. I'm looking to get this as a hybrid camera and my first dedicated camera. Instead of continuing to use my smartphone. Would you recommend this for someone starting out and who wants a hybrid camera?
So I’m upgrading from my own ASPC Nikon D7000 to either the Sony A7iii or this A6700…. I actually bought one but haven’t opened it because I’m stuck and overthinking it again lol What concerns me the most about the 6700 is the screen. I hear that it’s bad and almost “useless” in reviewing photos how much of that is true? That would feel to me like a big drawback. Because ive used ASPC before for family and fun events I know what to expect. Yet I want the a7iii because of its fast autofocus and the full frame’s general performance in low light. Now I’m thinking I can get a smaller cheaper system and still get better results than my Nikon no matter what I pick. What would you recommend for me? I know what to expect from ASPC but how much “better” is the A7iii or what big of a difference is there in performance and clarity? And no I don’t pixel pick and seldomly print out photos for family. I just do it for fun for travel.

When you come to Prague I am gonna make you a tour to get nice pictures 😁 Ideas for what to shoot anywhere - horse riding, paintball/airsoft battle,
I’ve been debating between this and FX-30. I just do talking head videos typically under 15 mins. So it sounds like this camera would accomplish everything I need it to
I belive this camera would be a great mathc to my a7r3, I´d use it mainly for video, but not interested in the zve1 because i´d also use for photos (much less of course) and as far as I know the a7r4/5 get you a 28mpxs file when you use them in aps mode, so I belive low light should be pretty close to those FF
Great video! We will be using it primarily for music videos and green screen work and we shoot at 4k 60fps (we do a lot of slo-mo), what SD cards would you recommend that don't break the bank?
If I have no camera experience whatsoever and wanted to make an investment in this 6700, would it be “too advanced”? Meaning would you recommend this for a starter camera for someone looking to do day to day photos as well as vlogging, podcast, etc.?
Thank you for this video. one question. Which camera has better focusing system and better dynamic range? Sony a6700 or Canon R8. Do you have experience? Thank you
Can you recommend a budget monitor that mounts to the hot shoe of a6700 that we can turn around and use while vlogging? Just want something bigger than the flip out viewfinder - thank you!
Thanks Mate. I’ve got a BoatRamp Fail Channel. “The Big Dan Show”. Currently shooting with the Sony AX700 but fixing to buy this fine unit. Love the Sharpness of the 6700
Getting massive value from loads of your videos!!! I now have moved to gold coast Australia 35 degrees weather. I would love to see a outside hot day heat tests for blogging style videos or talking head shot outdoor videos. Like a outdoor news interview of two people Most tests are indoors only. If you have any please send me a link otherwise when u get time I would appreciate this style or video doe the sony apsc style cameras . I am stuck weather to get the fuji xs20 or the a6700 for my shot clip style brol and outdoor 10 min film time interviews.
Finally settled for Canon R7, considering heating issue and color accuracy. Sony has improved color science a lot but I like Canon color science. I have Sony NX80 and don't like its colors straight from Cam
Great review! Does it have dual base iso? If so what is the difference? And how much better is LOG vs cine? (very interesting topics for future videos)
Thanks! I’m not sure about that but I know it’s the same sensor as the FX30. I think LOG is better but takes more time color grade. Cine is easier to shoot and grade.
You don't get any closer with a crop , you just get a smaller area of coverage 100mm is 100mm what ever camera you put it on! The size of the image on a crp is 1.5 smaller
@filmalliance Just discovered you and this awesome, well thought-out, well paced and VERY well presented review!! I NEED YOUR ADVICE THOUGH? Like you, my main camera is the amazing a7Siii. I often do 2 camera shoots where my B camera is on tripod typically getting a wide shot while I run and gun with the a7Siii. My current B camera is the original a7C. My challenge is to get them to match in Premiere Pro. First issue is the B camera A7C only shoots in 8 bit AND on my main camera I like to shoot in 10 bit and S-Cinetone as I don’t colour grade. The colour science on the a7C is not quite the same (older sensor) and doesn’t have S-Cinetone. I was thinking of ditching the a7C and getting the a7Cii to stay FF and get both those features but it is s LOT MORE MONEY… So after watching your great review, I am seriously contemplating getting the a6700 as my B camera. Much cheaper than the a7Cii but with all the new features I mentioned (and the AI chip and better autofocus). The only drawback is going to the smaller sensor and my lenses are now at a 1.5 crop. The aim though is to BETTER MATCH MY CAMERAS IN PREMIERE PRO. (and not blow the budget) What say you???? I think it’s a no-brainer 😎📸
Based on your reviews and helpful videos mine arrives on Monday along with the Tamron 17-70. I sold my R6 II and all my Canon glass so have plenty of room to purchase more lenses once I rent and test them out to see what I like. Now that I am leaving client work behind I am so looking forward to getting back to just shooting for myself with a camera that won't be a burden to bring along.
You should check out the Sony 70-350mm if you're looking for a zoom. It's a great lens. Very light and compact for what it is, and I find the images stunning.
@@thefilmalliance I think my work around will be to upscale the 1080p 120 for my sports highlights if I have overheat issues. I know even my A7IV would get hot shooting 4k60 during football games, but I always thought the 1080 120 was crisp enough especially for reels. I did consider going back to the a6600 because of the overheating but in the end there is so much more than just 4k60 in the a6700.
@@canucklehead28 for sure I plan to rent it soon to test out. I’ve used the version 1 of the 70-200 f4 quiet a bit so interested to see how it stacks up.
5:05 dude this is EXACTLY what I did! I have an FX3 and just one good full frame lens (24-70mm gm ii) but all my primes are for my a6700 which are dirt cheap 😅
I watched your videos regarding a6700, I currently have a6400 and planning to get a7iv but I'm stucked with my decision. Upon watching this exact video, I am very convinced to stick with my apsc system for now maybe Camera A for a6400 since it doesn't have overheating issues and Camera B for a6700. Thank you! My only concern is about editing RAW photos in Lightroom since I think as of now it doesn't read raw photos from a6700? Also, I'm using the free version of Davinci Resolve which I might go back to Premier Pro because of 10 bit footage is available only in paid version of Davinci Resolve. In case you are interested to make video with my concern, I am very please to wait for it, new subscriber btw and just met you because of a6700 :D
I'm still a beginner and please help me for the right settings. I just wanna shoot my videos in 4K 60p with a shutter speed of 125p for nice slo mo in the post production. So which mode I should choose on the wheel to let the camera work automatically? A, S or P? Thank you!
Excellent video. I am an ameture planning to buy a camera for shooting video of dance dramas that may last for 10 hours continuously. I am happy with full HD. Will the overheating create problem? I was considering GH6 initially. Inclining towards a6700 due to cost, size, autofocus and lens availability. Please advice whether the heating is a deal breaker. Thank you....
What lens would you recommend for the 6700 to get a video image as close as possible to the a7Siii image from your studio. That studio bokeh is nice and I’m trying to see if there is a 6700 setup that can get me close to that or if I need to look at the R8 (I’m looking at an all-in setup under $2K). Thx
my Sony HDR CX900 video cam's audio has gone bad and my Nikon D5100 photo/video camera is OLD and down to one battery out of 3 that still works. Not the quality of the Sony for sure. So I have been looking at several Sony photo/video cameras and the 6700 is one of them. However, I shoot mostly videos and photos of local musicians in small venues , bars. And post them on RUclips. I have yet to find a review that deals with the low light and sound quality that the built in Mics have for such a setting with the 6700 or any other camera . That is my priority. Not nature,
Im planning to get it with a tele lense, I worked with many cams but it was never my gear, so I'm thinking to get it with maybe 70-200 due to me working in events. I was thinking to get R8 but the RF lens line up is sooo costy plus the A6700 got a focus AI I can trust when I'm busy trying to get the perfect shots during events. what do you think?
I was really excited about the a6700 - have been shooting with a6000 and I thought this was finally a "worth it" upgrade. Seeing it in the flesh though, it was much, much chunkier than I expected. I also had an a7r (og) and this looked and felt like it was chunkier than that. At which point I just ended up buying a 2nd hand A7R IV for the same price and replacing both my APSC and FF Sony Camera. Honestly with the "weight gain" the a6700 starts defeating the point of an APSC specific body when you can achieve almost the same level of portability with a higher megapixel FF camera paired with APSC lenses. I also picked up a dirt cheap Nex 5R for those occasions when the A7R IV Body would be too large even with APSC lenses but haven't really found such an occasion yet.
@rsmith02 the sensor is still 99% the same though (barring "new copper components"). The new BSI sensor is the first significant development in Sony's APSC sensor lineup since the a6000.
Hi Film Alliance! What lenses would you recommend for A6700 for 4k120, vlog, b-rolls and dog videography (running and sitting dogs)? I have Sigma 56mm 1.4 but I find it it is a bit shaky even when the camera stabilization has been enabled.. I know it would work with gimbal but I would like to have something that I can shoot handheld more easily.
So I picked up my ZV-E10 a couple months ago I love it but the stabilization on the camera after watching the videos is bothering me sooo much would you suggest me to upgrade to this camera just for this reason??
Thanks fr the great video. I owned a6000 n nw looking fr a new aps-c camera. I m a hobbyist photographer. What would u recommend bet a6700 with 16-50 kit lens or a6600 with 18-135 kit lens with price difference of usd 100?
@@thefilmalliance nice! I got my a6700 yesterday and I tried using it as webcam and it overheats. But I think it’s because I forgot to change the auto power off temp to high. 😅
Great video it absolutely convinced me to buy the sony a6700, but i have a little issue with the camera, when i get my ear close to the body or even to the viewfinder I can hear a little noise coming from the camera, like a coil whine, it is really silent but it gets more noticeable when there is absolute silence, it can be heard in the videos I record, but again, it can be only heard when there is absolute silence Does anybody with the a6700 have de same noise? and if you do, what is the reason of this noise? Or maybe its just bad luck and i received a bad product ):

Yes exactly! 4K 60 for short Broll bursts is perfect for what I need. - No overheating...ever
Thank you! Yes Timebolt is a huge timesaver. Thanks Susan
Thanks man! Means a lot. I agree, it’s awesome
If you get a lens with lower aperture low light is not as much of an issue
@@thefilmalliance Have you ever owned an A7rii? (And how does it compare to this crop sensor when it comes to low light?)
Bro i think i already found the best camera reviewer on youtube and im gonna stick with ur youtube video only. Amazing video edit right there. I hope that more people find your video. Road to 100K!
Thanks bro
Video idea: I’m looking to buy a Sony 6xxx series camera so that when I go to restaurants with family/friends and it’s dimly lit, or taking pictures on birthdays etc in low light in the evenings at home, the iPhone always falls apart. I’d love to know what lens would be best. (This review was great btw).
best review on this cam I've ever watched. So good bro
Waiting for that X-S20 review! I’m having a hard time choosing between the two.
That’s coming soon, keep an eye out!
Can you do a detailed review of xs 20 ?
regard low llight performance, which I heard her often.
Yes I would recommend this camera 100%
thanks for the video, very excited to see your xs20 comparison!
Coming soon! Keep an eye out!
So I’m upgrading from my own ASPC Nikon D7000 to either the Sony A7iii or this A6700…. I actually bought one but haven’t opened it because I’m stuck and overthinking it again lol
What concerns me the most about the 6700 is the screen.
When you come to Prague I am gonna make you a tour to get nice pictures 😁
Ideas for what to shoot anywhere - horse riding, paintball/airsoft battle,
Thank you so much for the helpful and informative review of Sony A6700! God bless and good luck on your photography journey!
Excellent video.. any vintage lens use on this camera?
OMG, the quality of the image at 3:27. Sold!!!!
In my opinion, this is the best review I watched about a camera. Thank you! 🔥 I have a a7iii and I wanted to buy a a6700.
Wow thanks man, that really means a lot!
Great video! We will be using it primarily for music videos and green screen work and we shoot at 4k 60fps (we do a lot of slo-mo), what SD cards would you recommend that don't break the bank?
Looking to upgrade my canon m50.. A6700 looks like a solid choice for the future.. But sad to let my sigma 1.4 30mm prime lens go though.
If I have no camera experience whatsoever and wanted to make an investment in this 6700, would it be “too advanced”? Meaning would you recommend this for a starter camera for someone looking to do day to day photos as well as vlogging, podcast, etc.?
Is this camera ideal for greating social media content such as advertising content , vlogs, small interviews, sports content etc?
What about this camera vs the canon R8? I'm trying to decide which to get since I can't get both. Thanks
Thank you for this video.
one question.
Which camera has better focusing system and better dynamic range? Sony a6700 or Canon R8.
Do you have experience? Thank you
I bought a6700 today and am so excited ❤
Any budget lens to pair it with , so i can only buy body and go for the new lens which can perform way better than kit lens
Love you and the channel. I’m sold on a6700. For hybrid run and gun stuff what’s one lens you’d recommend for all around? And what lowlight lens ?
Same question here! I can afford only one lens, and i came from a Camcorder (Sony AX53), what lens should i go for?
Thanks man, glad to have you here. I would recommend a sigma 18-50 for all around. And a Viltrox 13 F 1.4 for lowlight. Hope that’s helps
@@thefilmalliance 💋
The 55 to 210 lens is not sharp. I find mi e to be un usable. Sony apsc is great paired with the sigma primes! Nice review. Thanks
Can you recommend a budget monitor that mounts to the hot shoe of a6700 that we can turn around and use while vlogging? Just want something bigger than the flip out viewfinder - thank you!
About to purchase one for doing DIY youtube videos. Could you do a video with lenses and settings
Thanks Mate. I’ve got a BoatRamp Fail Channel. “The Big Dan Show”.
Currently shooting with the Sony AX700 but fixing to buy this fine unit. Love the Sharpness of the 6700
Thanks for the comment! I love the a6700 too.
Getting massive value from loads of your videos!!! I now have moved to gold coast Australia 35 degrees weather.
I would love to see a outside hot day heat tests for blogging style videos or talking head shot outdoor videos. Like a outdoor news interview of two people
Most tests are indoors only.
If you have any please send me a link otherwise when u get time I would appreciate this style or video doe the sony apsc style cameras . I am stuck weather to get the fuji xs20 or the a6700 for my shot clip style brol and outdoor 10 min film time interviews.
im thinking about buying this as my first camera im just unsure about the lense i should buy with it
Great review. Any suggestions for gimbal?
Finally settled for Canon R7, considering heating issue and color accuracy. Sony has improved color science a lot but I like Canon color science. I have Sony NX80 and don't like its colors straight from Cam
That works. Whatever helps you tell your story
Sony 6700 in Slog3 has two native iso: 800 and 2500?
Are the above two native iso applicable for photos also?
Excellent video. One question, is the 1080p on this camera as bad as the Sony ZVE10???
No, I think it’s much better
Have you tested 1080p recording/steaming for overheating? I wonder if long Twitch streaming sessions would be possible like on the old a6000.
You don't get any closer with a crop , you just get a smaller area of coverage 100mm is 100mm what ever camera you put it on! The size of the image on a crp is 1.5 smaller
Great point thanks
Please show your cinematic custom buttons lay out for this camera. I just got it in mail. I need a little help setting those up. Ty
Will have to do. Thanks for the idea
@filmalliance
Just discovered you and this awesome, well thought-out, well paced and VERY well presented review!!
Dusty, you won’t regret it. I think that’s a great move. As long as you don’t shoot in 4k 60 for over 28 minutes your going to love it
You should check out the Sony 70-350mm if you're looking for a zoom.
@@canucklehead28 Agree, I've taken some really nice images with this lens in good light.
@@canucklehead28 for sure I plan to rent it soon to test out. I’ve used the version 1 of the 70-200 f4 quiet a bit so interested to see how it stacks up.
Best lens for hobby 1 for all for a6700…any ?
The Sony may have the sturdier LCD with better touch…. But I’ll take that higher resolution from the X-S20. Not just because I own it 😂
Haha I have the xs20 on loan. I’ll be doing a comparison of the a6700. Any pointers?
@@thefilmalliance make sure to update the firmware… you’re a pro.
is there rolling shutter ? maybe its addressed in later in the video , asking at 4:08 time mark :D
Congrats! Nice Review! Can u pls do a starlapse with this camera to test its capabilities, Thanks
Great idea. I’ll try to fit that one in
@@thefilmalliance Awesome! cant wait tò see the video!
I was thinking to get R8 but the RF lens line up is sooo costy plus the A6700 got a focus AI I can trust when I'm busy trying to get the perfect shots during events. what do you think?
i strongly agree with it , Best of review this camera, i already got it
Thank you for sharing, I’m happy to see you are utilizing what you’ve learned on this channel .
A6600 is a great upgrade with the bigger battery and smaller size than the 6700.
Hey there, Sigma 18-50 f2.8 would suit you well
Planning to upgrade my 6300 specially for the video. Can you explain how good is the 4k video quality and color tones
Hmmm do you mean a6700?
So I picked up my ZV-E10 a couple months ago I love it but the stabilization on the camera after watching the videos is bothering me sooo much would you suggest me to upgrade to this camera just for this reason??
Hey there, no, pick up a gimbal.
Is a6700 does autofocus on Clear Image Zoom? How much crop on Active Stabilization?
I’m not sure about that. Gotta look into that. Hopefully someone can answer this question for us both
Sir please suggest between sony 6700 and canon R10 for a beginner.
Night video shooting grain will come or not
Thanks fr the great video. I owned a6000 n nw looking fr a new aps-c camera. I m a hobbyist photographer. What would u recommend bet a6700 with 16-50 kit lens or a6600 with 18-135 kit lens with price difference of usd 100?
What's the sweet spot / max for iso on the a6700 without introducing noise ?... I would use something like the sigma or Tamron 1.4
ISO 800 is what I have found to be the sweet spot
does touch tracking work with 4K 120 FPS ?
So you can make money with the a6700?
Excellent! Can you do an airplanes video with this camera, making video of contrails at day and night please?
Cool idea. I need a telephoto for that
I'll be waiting for this! Greetings from Venezuela! @@thefilmalliance

Yes, if you use the ulanzi cooler plugged on powerbank to be powered on all of the time that are you making your streaming

nice show and great talking points
Which prime lens you used?
I can't decide between this and the xs20
how was the overheating issue of a6700 now? does the v1.03 firmware update helped?
Yes, no overheating for me
@@thefilmalliance nice! I got my a6700 yesterday and I tried using it as webcam and it overheats. But I think it’s because I forgot to change the auto power off temp to high. 😅
Great video it absolutely convinced me to buy the sony a6700, but i have a little issue with the camera, when i get my ear close to the body or even to the viewfinder I can hear a little noise coming from the camera, like a coil whine, it is really silent but it gets more noticeable when there is absolute silence, it can be heard in the videos I record, but again, it can be only heard when there is absolute silence
Does anybody with the a6700 have de same noise? and if you do, what is the reason of this noise?
Or maybe its just bad luck and i received a bad product ):
I really like this camera and now am thinking how much better it would be with telephone hardware installed
also has anyone using apples words airdrop to there laptop, is that a thing ? thanks

I got that hat for free. I’m not advertising. I like cameras, period.
Thank you! Informative and honest.
What lense do you recommed if I can't find a 18-55 mm f2.8? I need a wide lense that can zoom
