Hey David! Love your content! I'm thinking of getting the Sony ZV-E10 for recording lecture videos, especially at a distance of around 15 meters. Do you think it's a good choice for this purpose? If yes, could you suggest any specific settings or lenses that would work best? If not, I'd really appreciate your recommendation for a camera that's suitable for recording 90-minute lectures at a distance of 15-20 meters. Your videos are awesome, by the way - keep up the great work! 📷🎥
Right now i'm looking for a small camera for street photography, i think it's an option but for me not having the view-finder its a dealbreaker :( Thanks for the review!
Hopping off from your reply to my comment on another video - Thanks for this, really sums up the pros & cons! I think it would be fine for my use... just need to wait for Pixel 7 Pro reviews to come out because I only have room for 1 gadget purchase :)
4:55 I did not know this. I do not own the camera (yet) and this is a great tip to be aware of! I'm currently using GoPro 10 and, as you know, can save 4 of 5 or more presents internal.
Im bouncing back and forth on whether I want to buy this camera and add the Sony - FE 24-105mm F4 G Lens OR just the A7III that comes with the 28-70mm lens ... what do you think?
Thanks for the review. I’m going with an ZV E10 for my latest camera, as its price / features are right for me. Not sure if it’s just me, but I found that light panel located behind your right ear is really distracting. 🤔
The cons you mentioned are from a photog/videographers POV. Thats why they specifically marketed this as a "vlogging" camera. If you want all those things then might as well just buy R or S series.
Great video. I agree with you about HLG3 as well. It gives the best colors in most settings but I'm curious if you also use it in lowlight as well. I find that Cine2 works better in lowlight primarily because I find I have to overexpose a bit with HLG3 and the ISO goes up really high.
@Eyes Green the kit lens is a good lens. At the 15mm side it is great for vlogging. It is not the best for low light situations because its only a f3.5 at 15mm but it absolutely is a more than usable lens. I have several different lens and if I am going out real quick and do not want to carry much, its my goto lens. If you are going to vlog I would highly recommend getting a variable ND filter.
Excellent review. I bought it as B camera (I mainly use the A7IV) and I'm happy with it. I used to have the A6300 in the past and now I decided to get another Sony APSC. The pros and cons are exactly the ones you mentioned and I agree that it can't be considered as a VLog camera. Anyways, considering the very good price I can say that it's a best buy and a very, very useful camera. I've just shot an episode of my RUclips channel and used A7IV and ZV E10 both in HLG and they matched very well!
Excellent article only I don't understand why the image in your studio constantly jumps focus. It happens at e.g. 1:19 , 1:25 , 2:13 and 2:16. It shouldn't happen at this level of videomaking. Greetings
@@davidvongries Ok that's fine, each may do what he wants, but comes across as very amateurish to me. In video courses they call this "jumpers" and is remedied by an in-between shot without seeing lips moving. If you then let the sound continue under the intermediate shot then you don't see the jumper anymore. Succes.
Hey Dave, I`m about to start this as a hobby, and I literally watched almost every video on ZVE 10 vs a6400 on RUclips. All they say is same sensor same quality, difference in built quality and missing EVF. If you put for example Sigma 30 m f1.4 on both and use same settings and do street photography, do both cameras give identical pictures ? But all those "cinematic"videos and POV street photography with the same lens on both cameras I watched on RUclips, a6400 looks to have better quality, sharpness and cinematic footage. ZVE 10 photos and cinematic videos just look not as sharp as a6400. Do you think it`s those creator`s lack of skill not to upload ZVE 10 videos as good on RUclips or is a 6400 really better quality of picture and video. I`m about to buy either of this, and I really want a profesional answer. Thank you )
Any idea how to this compares in video quality to I-phone 12 pro max? Considering switching for my RUclips workout videos to better camera but not sure if this is a step up?
Hi David! Great video. I have one question: to get the kind of shot that you have at 0:22 with the Sigma 16mm F1.4 or the more newly released Sigma 23mm F1.4, how far/ close can I be positioned away from the camera to get the same proportions in terms of body and head?
Good concise video for sure. I have the ZV-E10 and Nikon Z6ii. Both DO NOT allow you to accept line level audio and you're stuck with using their mic. pre-amps to some degree. My Fuji X-S10 allowed me to select mic or line level. I think all Fuji's do. This allowed me to use a quality external recorder, pre-amps and microphone and send the audio line out to the Fuji as line input to the mic jack. This also gave me baked in 48k/24bit audio. With the Sony you're stuck with 48k/16 bit and NO ONE wants 16 bit anymore. Have you found any way to get better than 16 bit audio onto your video recordings on this camera? I'm seriously thinking of selling this and going back to Fuji just for the better audio.
Hey David! Great video, conviced me to get the ZV-E10 too! At 3:23, is that the A7 in the Rhön somewhere near Bad Brückenau, it looks very familiar since I'm from there originally.
Thanks for this video, I have Zv e10 with basic kit, which lens do you suggest for indoor setting on you Tube and do you have a video for setting camera? With HLG3 do you work a lot in post production with color correction ? Thanks in advance
loved loved loved this video, thank you so much. only one thing bothered me, it sounds like you kept saying CeeV-E10, everytime! 10/10 video major thumbs up David
Thanks for the 1 year update. Do you have a video showing off the cameras low light video capabilities? If not maybe you can do one sharing your thoughts on the best settings for low and affordable lens to pair with it?
Hey - If this isn't the right camera for vlogging, then which are you choosing? I was choosing between this and the R10, but I am leaning towards this due to the lack of lenses on R10
hey Joe, I'm looking for an alround but mostly for vlogging as well, I'm looking at as well as the fujifilm x-s10. Have you considered that one? I haven't bought anything yet but would be interested what you've found out
@@NotGreyNomads Honestly... I bought the zve10 and the 11mm. It arrived yesterday and I was testing it out. For me, hand held walking around, I don't think it is the right set up for what I want. Because neither is stabilised I need to use digital IS and then use warp stabiliser. I just wasn't super happy with the result, so I have returned it and will try the Canon R10. I did look at the fuji xs10 but I want something with better autofocus. I know R10 is more hybrid and lenses are an issue... but it looks fantastic and I don't want my next step to be R7 yet, I need my channel to be bigger. This is my step up from M50 MK ii. Depending on what you need, the zve10 may be alright or the fuji. If you wanna discuss more, maybe drop a comment on one of my videos and it will be easier to reply ;) (that isn't a shameless plug, I will just see it better haha).
I'm looking for a camera to do electronic news gathering. I need telephoto as well as wide angle. Low light is a plus. Do you have any recommendations?
hey, loved the vid. is it good choice if i aim to buy this for 1-2 hour long podcasts? with dummy batteries ofc. if not what are the best podcast cams in that price range?
I got this camera for my indoor setup, however why do you recommend it for an indoor setup? It does not record for a long duration. I got the Elgato Cam Link 4k then so I could record it onto my computer without is shutting off, but it does not record it in 4k. It's pretty poor quality, so I'd be surprised if it's even 1080p. I recorded it with Quicktime. Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions would be greatly much appreciated.
Thanks for sharing. Still wanting to pull the trigger on the ZV-E10. As I am mainly a content creator and not a vlogger I hope to get all the pros and have to deal less with the cons :)
while some of the cons can be quite annoying, I'm still happy I picked up the camera to be honest :) I just wish they'd improve the active stabilization and bring in some features like the min. shutter speed. i don't think that's gonna happen though. they might as well just release a new ZV camera.
I can attest to not being able to see anything on the screen if you’re wearing polarized lenses. I actually thought the camera was on and it wasn’t turning on before I realized it was just my sunglasses.
Hi, amazing video! Do you think this camera be good for craft video tutorials? And which lens would you recommend for that. also if possible which lens you recomend to take pictures of those craft products I will be creating( tiny-small products like jewelry, charms…) 😊
@davidvobgries thank you so much for this video. Im planning to buy zv 10 for videography purpose. However im confused between sony 35mm f1.8 OSS abd sigma 16mm f1.4 lens. I'll be using this for gym cinematic videography and shooting RUclips shorts. Please advise which lens would suit for this?????
My initial thoughts on this review is that it is spot on. Thanks for the workaround tips! I purchased the camera based on price to see if I like the Sony system and help me decide on APSC V Full Frame. The idea is I would not have to sell my lenses if I mice’s to Full Frame. Fuji Film does not offer Full Frame so any APSC Lenses would be useless in a move to Full Frame. Because the camera lacks a viewfinder, I don’t have the confidence I am getting the best focus possible when using the screen and focus peeking in manual mode (required for using vintage lenses. Also, recording on 8 bit color depth is limiting. Thanks again. At its price point it is a very nice camera for photography.
Unless you buy Full Frame lenses from the very beginning for an APS-C camera body (which is crazy, the biggest advantage of APS-C is the much cheaper lenses), you can't use your APS-C lenses on FF. Yes you can, but then you get the same FOV and same effective pixels just like an APS-C (APS-C lenses can only cover part of the FF sensor, about the size of APS-C), it basically turns your expensive FF body into APS-C. So what's the point? That doesn't make sense. The APS-C camera body only costs a fraction of the FF body, one doesn't affect another. If you want FF, just keep the APS-C unless your budget is really tight. But if this is the case, probably you should never bother with FF. The FF lens price is steep, and the film/videography industry standards is "small" sensors, about APS-C size. You don't see FF in cinema cameras like the RED or Alexa. Theater Movies are shot actually using APS-C sized sensors. So if you care about video there's completely no advantage to go with FF. Just see how many people using the A7R series shooting in APS-C crop mode for better quality. IF you care price then the playability is much more higher in APS-C, because for the same amount of money you can get your hands on much more different lenses if that's your thing. FF only shines IMO in the High Resolutions. If you go FF, either go with 61MP a7r4 r5 or 42MP r3 r2. It's mind-blowing once you used to it and you will never coming back. (although the price is steep, especially for the lenses, unless you only want one, and from my experience one is fine and still very enjoyable, you just missed the play-with-lenses part, but that's not a bad thing at all, it forces you to focus on your photo rather than gears.)
Excellent video. You said you used the camera for vlogging and you had clips of yourself vlogging. I then looked at the other videos on your RUclips and couldn’t find your vlog videos. Do you vlog and keep it private for yourself or was this just some b-roll made up for this video? Thanks!
Im making a sturio setup and im seeing GRAIN all over the place, and i see thatyou have grain too. What is happening with this camera? is it low bugdet cameras that produce that grain ?
Would you recommend this camera, let's say to take memories photos and videos with the family and kids, taking in consideration kids move around so is not like perfect b-roll where the stuff are still and easy.
I'm currently considering whether to buy a Canon M50 Mark II or the ZV e10. What would you prefer ? I have an iPhone 15 Pro but am still looking for a camera for professional pictures and videos
David: Just found your channel, as this video came up in my Y-T feed after watching another review of the ZV-E10. I do think the lack of a viewfinder might be an issue for me, so I'll definitely check out the A6400. Nevertheless, I'm really looking for a Swiss Army Knife of a mirrorless camera for photos and video with interchangeable lens capability, so I can also use my trusty old Contax/Zeiss lenses (with a C/Y-to-E mount adapter) for manual photography. So far, the ZV-E10 looks like a winner. Thanks for this!
I used ZV-E10 for some time. I don't think that it is really good if you like to get some good pictures and the other problem is, if you will record yourself while looking at your camera, it is really annoying because of the angle of flip-out screen. If you like to see yourself while talking to your camera, it is not really the best choice. I don't think it is really very cheap and Please consider once again for your choice.
two questions, if you had to go back in time, would you buy this camera agin? And, what about livestreaming. using this camera as a webcam is possible but how is the quality? Good video but missing some points. Thank you for our review tho'

Right now i'm looking for a small camera for street photography, i think it's an option but for me not having the view-finder its a dealbreaker :(
Thanks for the review!
Love my camera, I use it for everything, portraits, street photography, landscape. loves this camera.
Keen to see the settings for your 3 x video settings profiles for talking head, vlogging and b-roll if you have them handy!
Thanks!
Please suggest a camera for videography, considering stabilisation n other cons you menial
I absolutely love my ZV-E10. It is an absolute powerhouse of a little camera that punches way above its price point.
15-50mm its ok for vloggin?
@Eyes Green the kit lens is a good lens. At the 15mm side it is great for vlogging. It is not the best for low light situations because its only a f3.5 at 15mm but it absolutely is a more than usable lens. I have several different lens and if I am going out real quick and do not want to carry much, its my goto lens. If you are going to vlog I would highly recommend getting a variable ND filter.
@@aaronballard9119 zv-e10 vs a6100. Need an all rounder camera for travel
@@hphp7587 ZV-E10 hands down.
I've just shot an episode of my RUclips channel and used A7IV and ZV E10 both in HLG and they matched very well!
what is a good vlog camera at this price point then ?
Would you consider the Sony A6700?
@@MasterCarsReview yeah but it’s way more expensive than a zv-e10 😭
Excellent article only I don't understand why the image in your studio constantly jumps focus. It happens at e.g. 1:19 , 1:25 , 2:13 and 2:16. It shouldn't happen at this level of videomaking. Greetings
I think you’re referring to my choice of editing. Sometimes, i like to crop in a bit when there’s important information to highlight.
Succes.
what's the alternative for this camera... in this price range
Great video! Could you please share which lens was used to record this video?
I shot this video on the Sigma 30mm F1.4
Canon M50 Mark ll or This ?
I'm seriously thinking of selling this and going back to Fuji just for the better audio.
hi david, could you please tell how exactly the distance is between you and background wall? thanks
it’s 1,5 to 2 meters
Hey David! Great video, conviced me to get the ZV-E10 too! At 3:23, is that the A7 in the Rhön somewhere near Bad Brückenau, it looks very familiar since I'm from there originally.
that’s a place here in the „Spessart“ :) The autobahn is the A3
Nice you were in Aschaffenburg (Schönbusch Park) and Alzenau 😊
Thanks for this video, I have Zv e10 with basic kit, which lens do you suggest for indoor setting on you Tube and do you have a video for setting camera? With HLG3 do you work a lot in post production with color correction ? Thanks in advance
Thank for your inputs I just bought it and I am excited! You just earned yourself a subscriber!
I am considering to upgrade my canon m100 with the sony zv-e10 but I am not sure the leap will be a lot
thanks. I have a6100 with tamron1770, i use it, mostly in photography, does zve10 have lots of advantages than a6100.
loved loved loved this video, thank you so much. only one thing bothered me, it sounds like you kept saying CeeV-E10, everytime! 10/10 video major thumbs up David
Thank you for the David! I'm thinking of getting this ahead of the new ZV-1F?
At 0:58 why where u putting the camera so close to ur eyes when it doesn’t have view a finder?🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
that's a different camera. I was filming on the ZV-E10 and taking photos on the Fujiflim X-E2 😁
Thanks for the 1 year update. Do you have a video showing off the cameras low light video capabilities? If not maybe you can do one sharing your thoughts on the best settings for low and affordable lens to pair with it?
Hi, I bought a Profezzion lens for it but it doesn't fit! Even its listed as compatible
Do I need an adapter between lens and camera?
0:58 what u looking through bro there's no viewfinder T-T
I’m filming on the ZV-E10 for this shot and taking photos with my Fujifilm camera 😅
Absolutely! I think the ZV-E10 is a great choice for that :)
@@davidvongries thanks for the reply david, people who engage and respond to queries are rare! keep up the good work!
Great video. Please what lens do you recommend for zv-e10
Getting the ZV-E10 and Sigma 30mm next week, my first camera ever
Please recommend me lens for ZV-E10. For portrait and wide angle pictures.
Hi nice work- but Im an actress needing studio quality for my at home self tapes? Which camera is best? THX
You need both..as both lenses provide different fov.
Thanks!
the vlogging part i showed was from this video ruclips.net/video/7GyLWiV2GDg/видео.html
True, my Sony A7C LCD is black when I use my sungalsses which are polarized.
For my ZV-E10 camera what lenses is affordable can I use for indoor outdoor sports?
I'd like to know the same thing. I hope you get an answer.
This is a review that it needs! Pro and cons! Not only pros…. Thx
Thank u. im planning to buy one by the end of this month.
Great video! Which lens did you use for this video? 30 or 16mm? How far were you from the camera? Thanks
30
Thanks for the great video.
I'm planning to buy a zv-e10, but I still have a small question: Can I take photos while recording video with this camera?
that’s not possible unfortunately.
Really thorough review. Thanks!
Considering this camera, but hesitate. How is the screen when viewing in the daytime? Poor, Good, Great, washed out a bit, your thoughts.
Thanks for this!
what would you recommend for vlogging?
thanks for info - making my mind up about buying this camera - and since only really need it for studio work, its probably a good option
What can i find for 800$ (like ZV-E10) but better for videography and less rolling shutter?
two questions, if you had to go back in time, would you buy this camera agin?
And, what about livestreaming. using this camera as a webcam is possible but how is the quality?
Good video but missing some points. Thank you for our review tho'
How will this camera do with my f1.4 35mm g master lens?
I dont want to take my a74 travelling with me and want something more compact 😊
What would you recommend that is one step up from this? Must take great pics, good video, screen flip and mic input
What lens would you recommend for a studio setup like yours? I have this camera and the lens it comes with. Thanks!
Hello. I'm looking for a model that I can use in live broadcasts. Taking pictures of my lines at home and broadcasting live will not be an external purpose. There is a capture card and I can easily connect it to the PC from there. My budget is $1000 including lens. Would this model suit my purpose or would you recommend a different model? I would be very grateful if you could please help me with this.

Excellent vid! I need to buy a lens for the exact purpose of making a video like this one. What lens did/do you use for your studio setup? Sigma 16mm F1.4 or the Sigma 30mm F1.4? I'll buy whichever you used in this video via your affiliate link N/P! (Also, why is the 30MM cheaper than the 16MM? I'm not a photographer - I solely need something easy to use for course content).
Also, a great video would be to show ALL the exact settings and lighting you used to film in your studio for this exact video. (I not only like the content, but I love the quality of this vid!).
Thx
0:58 seems like you are looking through a viewfinder..does ZV-E10 has viewfinder?
