Orion's Farewell: Nightscape Photography Adventure in the Mountains

  • In this landscape astrophotography adventure I capture the star constellation Orion one last time this season. To reach our shooting location on top of the mountain we first have some rock climbing to do. Not an easy task for a guy from the flattest country on earth. I end up making a focus stack and exposure blend for my foreground. The sky is tracked on a star tracker and stacked for noise reduction.
Without knowing it at the time of filming, this was the day Alyn Wallace passed away. I lost someone very dear to me and the astrophotography community I love so much. Without Alyn this channel would not be there. On that same night I also made a new friend in Jan ‪@Seegurkenwombat‬ (@andersart.ig on Instagram) which I am grateful about. I hope we all can keep Alyn's legacy alive, if only for just a little bit, by continuing to spread our enthusiasm of the night sky.

Fantastic video, Jeroen, and what an epic location!! Looks like you and Jan had a great time, and a fitting farewell to both Orion and Alyn.

Dankje! Doet ie goed idd! Hij heeft op locatie een h-alpha laag geschoten en die er fors in geblend. Ik ben daar deze keer heel subtiel mee geweest. De overige processing trucs ga ik voor op onderzoek uit ;-).
