  • In this Nightscape Photography adventure I set out to capture the star constellation of Orion at a beautiful lighthouse. Although it is crystal clear, the weather conditions turn out to be much more challenging than anticipated. I end up not being able to use my star tracker. See how I deal with these harsh conditions and come away with a result I am pretty proud of!

Wow!! Great sharing your workflow! Ours is so similar! 💪 Lovecth composition!! Perfect timing with the foreground exposure with the lighthouse. Great mentioning that bearded Slovenian Astro Monster as well. 😂

Ha, funny it's so similar! I might be doing something right then 😁. And yeah... need bigger beard since Matej started vlogging also to keep up.

And YES! I'm proud of you!!! Such bad conditions everywhere! You really get a lot out of it.
Btw. I bought a new light pollution weapon: a 20nm front screw in h alpha filter!! 💪 Hehe. Gotta watch your tutorial at some point how to blend those. So many new possibilities! Never thought I'd ever get a front filter.

Haha, thanks man! #lifegoals 🙃. Good luck with the ha filter! Curious what you'll pull out.

The dedication you have to actually go trough taking that picture is incredible!
That had to be freezing like crazy!
Well done and great shot 👌🏻

You had me laughing out loud (my poor wife!) When you showed lightpollutionmap showing Isselmeer (yellow Bortle 4) surrounded by red Bortle 5 saying "relatively dark"! 😂 And then while writing this I laughed again!!! Did you say light pollution monster or master? 😂 Either way, thank you so much for mentioning!! If we don't meet this year I bet Matej is going to hunt us down. Ok. So now up to the result. Haven't seen it yet... Advertisement first! 😉💪

You managed really well in challenging conditions Jeroen. To be honest, with all those street lights I think I'd walk away from that location . .so my admiration for your persistence my friend.

Thanks Richard! Challenging conditions and lightpollution is kind of becoming a theme of the channel isn't it? 😅. I long for a good bortle 2 in crystal clear conditions again for a change haha.

Great video and great final image. I can appreciate the struggle! I loved how you kept mentioning that you AREN'T complaining! Don't want to seem ungrateful that you have clear skies. Even when it is miserably cold and windy haha. I also appreciate the insight into your post production process. Great content! Keep it up my man.

Thanks so much! And I know exactly what you mean. But there is so much more great stuff to photograph in the 'off season'. +it's dark early and way longer. Love the winter! Except for the extreme uncomfy conditions like here that is 😅

The light polution on the horizon was quite a lot so it would be quite hard to get much detail out of the nebula even with the star tracker I supposed . With that being said, your photo turned out beautifully. Love it.

    Epic shot!
I understamd those crazy cold windy nights at light houses!
I think I prefer the shot in landscape orientation. You should make a shot like that too!

      @StarScaperPhoto  8 месяцев назад +1

And oh, I opted for a landscape shot in tie first place. But even at 14mm ir was too tight to squeeze it all in, so I ended up doing a 1x1.

Yes, Jan is the light pollution master :D Don`t be afraid of winds, on iceland i tried to shoot a lighthouse and i have to lean my whole weight to the tripod. But anyway the result looks nice and clean
