I just started this journey but this video IS THE BEST on RUclips! In the last 3 weeks I saw hundreds of tutorials but this is the simples and clearest one! Thank you so much!!
Wow, that is so so encouraging to hear, and I'm so glad you've found it helpful starting Astrophotography!! That's exactly why I made it, and it really means so much to hear that it is helping others get involved! I made another tutorial very similar to this one, but on Rho Ophiuchi, and I hope to make more in the future. Thank you again!
I was worried whether the good old camera would be good enough for dipping my toes in, and have been browsing the web for tutorials for a while. This IS the best one by a large margin... Many a thanks, it gave me enough confidence to plan for some sleepless nights under the starry sky in the near future! 🥰
This was one of the best videos I’ve seen on beginner astrophotography in a while! Super friendly and upbeat throughout, plus your editing and sense of humor is amazing lol
To be honest, this is probably one of the videos that got me into astrophotography. Your just the most underrated astronomy youtuber and man is the tutorial simple ... I will probably rewatch this tutorial after I save up enough money to buy a decent dslr.
I’m so glad to hear this video helped you get into astrophotography! That really means a lot to hear, and I really appreciate the kind words! Let me know if you ever have any questions!
Finally an easy to follow tutorial. Your start to finish explanation has taught me more in that one session than countless others combined. Brilliant and will be watching out for more.
Thank you so much, I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! If you’re interested in more start to finish tutorials, I did another one on shooting Rho Ophiuchi, so feel free to check that out too! Thank you again!
I just came back after a year to say my thanks to you. I started this hobby in November of 2022 and oh boy it's been a long journey. I owe it to this video of inspiring me and showing me how easy it is to take photos of Orion, and what this hobby and the quality of my images have snowballed into would make my past self extremely proud. Thanks again for making such an easy to follow and fantastic guide. You deserve more subscribers.
That brings me so much joy to hear, and I’m so glad to hear you have been enjoying the journey and learning more! I really can’t thank you enough for coming back to leave a comment, that really meant so much to me when I read it-Thank you for the support!!
Something I learned recently as I was getting into this. I didnt have an Intervalometer, but I did have a basic shutter remote trigger. You can set your camera to shoot 'continuous' and set your 'exposure' length to whatever your value needs to be. When all set, move the remote trigger to 'lock' and it will shoot continuous.
@@dedclownsRfunny no, because the shutter still opens and closes to take those photos, you will still need to adjust your camera every 20-30 shots (depending on your exposure length) to keep everything centered! The only issues you may encounter with continuous shooting is some camera shake due to the shutter opening and closing which is why its recommended to try using a timer or intervalometer to let your camera 'settle' to reduce some of the shaking, movement, etc.
Excellent tutorial from start to finish! One of the easiest to follow tutorials for post processing I've seen with the simple and effective explanations as to why you were doing it. Added bonus, it was enjoyable to watch at the same time.
This is actually insane. I just bought a rebel t7 and I've always wanted to take astrophotography. Tried on my OnePlus 11 with the hasselblad camera and was genuinely taken into the whole field. Im so freaking excited for this. God bless you brother. Amazing video.
Amazing tutorial. I recently decided to go mirrorless with a Canon RP and figured I should give astro a shot. This video gave me the exact the motivation and help I needed to get going! Thanks a lot! :)

You made it quite simple to understand, especially how detailed the photoshop part. Thank you. I was getting frustrated there for a second with a lot of information from other creators.
Saw a couple of your videos, and I got to admit you made me fall in love with astrophotography. Your tutorials are so good, easy and funny, and it doesn't look hard afterwards. Thanks man!
I want to thank you for this video. I have spent the last two weeks trying to photograph the Orion Nebula with my canon m50 and 75-300 mm lens. After a couple failed attempts and several cloudy nights I finally got it last night. I'm beyond pleased with my image. This achievement just solidifies my want for a nice telescope and goto mount down the road.
Congrats, that’s really exciting!! I can believe it-after I got my first good image of Orion I knew I wanted to get a tracker and scope too. Thanks for watching!
This is an awesome video. I have a very old imaging science degree before the days of digital imaging, so I feel a little bit left behind. This video makes everything understandable and I can't wait to try it!!!

Thank you so much for that support, I'm so excited to hear this! This has been my goal all along, so I'm glad to hear it was engaging! Feel free to check out my other tutorial, and I'm currently working on a third one.
Thanks, that's so helpful! Onwards and upwards! A steep learning curve awaits but it keeps my mind occupied! I am in New Zealand so have a different night sky heaps of interesting stuff. Have a great weekend!
i'm into amateur astrophoto for a 10 years already, but just scratching the surface of the topic. I can say that this video is great for everybody: for the beginners, for a little more experienced folks, and even for professionals (so they have ONE link to give to us, noobs). thanks!
You don't understand how helpful this is if I become famous it's all thanks to you no joke this video was LIT like 🔥 just thank from bottom of my heart
Your content simply is amazing. Thank you much! Obviously you’ve put in many hours to make these incredible videos, and you should know they’re all worth it.
simply wow!.. just started to think about all these beautiful photos of space that I have seen in the media. But this is one detailed video on how to get that. A Clear dedication to this art. - Looking forward to seeing more of your emails as you are very detailed. Thank You
Just started astrophotography. My son is super into space, and I wanna encourage that. This was a really helpful video. Thank you so much! Happy New Year!
I’m so glad to hear! Thank you so much for watching! If you or him have any questions about astrophotography, please don’t hesitate to ask and I’ll do my best to answer!
I'm very impressed with this video because you made it simpler, especially for someone like me who is new to this entire Astrophotography rabbit hole that im starting to get into. I have exactly a Canon Rebel T5 and that lens that you have in this video. I went ahead and bought a sigma wide angle lens with an aperture of 1.8 and it's wonderful for the Milky Way and the Northern Lights. But I want to start getting into stuff like this! Nebulas, Galaxies and planets. Even star clusters and Pleiades. I just started with photography a couple years ago and night photography a year ago so im fairly new at this. Thank you so much for making videos like this! I actually learned alot!!
Thank you for posting a clear and concise video. I've been scouring the internet on taking proper DSO astrophotography and the post processing and yours was the most clear and concise with step by step. +100 thumbs up
Thank you so much!! I’m really glad to hear you think the video is engaging and informative-hitting both of those has been a big goal of mine. Thank you!
@@theheavensdeclareastro also i have one question. Im using a nikon d3200 and my white balance is called "direct sunlight" would that be the same as "daylight" white balance?
@@jamiehayes3462 Really the benefit of adjusting the white balance is how it appears when you're viewing it on the camera (sometimes it can help with giving you better visibility on changing exposure settings, especially if you're doing something like Milkyway photography in my experience). But since we are always going to use the RAW files for processing, and the white balance has no bearing on the RAW data, I think you would probably be fine with that or Auto.
I’m so glad to hear it helped, and thank you so much for the support! I’m working on another similar tutorial for a different object, so stay tuned for that in the future!
That's so exciting to hear, thank you for sharing! And congrats on your first image!! I'm working on another similar tutorial for a different object, so stay tuned for that!
Thank you for making this tutorial. I actually started astrophotography just before the pandemic and I did everything what you did since I saw a similar tutorial from years ago. Then the pandemic hit and I was not able to go around due to lockdowns. It was a shame since we have one of the best nights during the pandemic due to reduced pollutions. Now, I'm going back to doing astrophotography, and watching your very entertaining video made me remember everything that I did 3 years ago. Again, thank you!
Thank you so much for watching and for commenting! I’m really glad to hear you enjoyed the video and that it is helping you get back into astrophotography! Clear skies!
This is one of the videos that covers everything you need to know about stacking (mostly) and in a very simple way. Good work man you have earned a new subscriber :)
This is such a great video for me. I haven't taken any images yet while I get all my gear together. What I've learned is just how complex it all is, but you've really helped to explain in a way that helps me understand how all the parts fit together. Like other comments, this is simple and clear. Light humor made it even easier to watch, too. I especially appreciate your ending comment about taking pictures of God's creation. Finally, someone who doesn't push evolution and who loves the beauty and challenge of astrophotography. I hope I am able to eventually get some images and enjoy my time looking up at the heavens, both literally and figuratively.
Thank you so much for the very kind words and the thoughtful comments, I appreciate it! I’m glad to hear you’re looking to get into astrophotography-if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Excellent video. One of the best step by step explanation on taking and processing deep sky photographs. Your explanations of dark, bias and flat shots are better than anyone's including "Nebula Photos'". Thorough explanations despite some cartoon silliness in between.
@@theheavensdeclareastro exactly, Nebula Photo's tutorials are so long, and plus they get so confusing that i often quit in the middle. I've got such a beautiful Orion Nebula picture from your tutorial. Please make more like these. I can't watch Nebula photos.
Thank you so much for watching, and I’m so glad to hear it helped you capture a beautiful image of Orion! Thank you for the support, and I will try to continue to make more!

Saw a couple of your videos, and I got to admit you made me fall in love with astrophotography. Your tutorials are so good, easy and funny, and it doesn't look hard afterwards. Thanks man!
I’m so glad to hear they are helpful-that’s why I do it! Thank you so much for your very kind words and for your support, it really means a lot to me!
The best video I've seen on the subject, it's given me the confidence to give this a real go. fingers crossed.
I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it, and thank you! Feel free to ask any questions you may have and I’ll try to help!
Thank you so much for watching and for your very kind words! Wow, that’s amazing! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions and I’ll do my best to answer!
You're a master at this. Why do you not have more subs?!? Got me with this one.
Thank you so much for the very kind words, and for the sub! That really means a lot to me!
That is very helpful! I have clear skies tonight so will give it a crack with a 200mm 2.8 and follow your tutorial!
Hope you're having a good week!

😀I’m so happy to hear this, thank you for sharing!! I’m glad it helped, and thank you for watching!
Fantastic video. Covers pretty much everything. Will be saving this for off line watching
Thank you so much, I so appreciate the support! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for your easy to follow tutorial on astrophotography. Most of the others are too complicated to follow.
Thank you so much for watching and for the very kind words, I really appreciate it! I’m so glad to hear the video was helpful!
Thanks, that's so helpful! Onwards and upwards! A steep learning curve awaits but it keeps my mind occupied! I am in New Zealand so have a different night sky heaps of interesting stuff.
Have a great weekend!
Glad to hear! From New Zealand I recommend the Carina Nebula, LMC, SMC, and core of the Milky Way and Rho Ophiuchi. Lots of great options!
I learned more from this video than any other channel! Great job with keeping it simple, informative and entertaining!!
I'm really glad you liked it, that really means a lot to hear!! And thank you for watching, I'm hoping to make more videos like this!
i'm into amateur astrophoto for a 10 years already, but just scratching the surface of the topic. I can say that this video is great for everybody: for the beginners, for a little more experienced folks, and even for professionals (so they have ONE link to give to us, noobs). thanks!
Wow, thank you so much for those kind words! That is so great to hear, and I’m glad you found it helpful! Thank you for watching!
You don't understand how helpful this is if I become famous it's all thanks to you no joke this video was LIT like 🔥 just thank from bottom of my heart
Thank you for watching and for the very kind words, I really appreciate it!!
Your content simply is amazing. Thank you much! Obviously you’ve put in many hours to make these incredible videos, and you should know they’re all worth it.
Thank you so much, I very much appreciate that! It is a ton of work, but it really means a lot to me to hear they are worth it!
simply wow!.. just started to think about all these beautiful photos of space that I have seen in the media. But this is one detailed video on how to get that. A Clear dedication to this art. - Looking forward to seeing more of your emails as you are very detailed. Thank You
I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it, and thank you so much for watching! Thank you for the support, it means a lot to me!
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words! I’m so glad to hear it was helpful, and it’s great to hear you are getting into Astro!
Thank you for posting a clear and concise video. I've been scouring the internet on taking proper DSO astrophotography and the post processing and yours was the most clear and concise with step by step. +100 thumbs up
Thank you so much for watching and for the very kind words, I really appreciate that! I’m so glad to hear it was helpful!

This guy is pretty funny, I love the comedy effort he puts in his video while perfectly conveying the message.
Thank you so much!! I’m really glad to hear you think the video is engaging and informative-hitting both of those has been a big goal of mine. Thank you!
@@theheavensdeclareastro No problem! Im glad that you have reached that goal!
Seriously underrated youtuber well done! Easiest and simplist tutorial for begjnners to follow and ti help understand what things do what
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate the support!
@@theheavensdeclareastro ok thank you so much!
@@theheavensdeclareastro would it also help the green tint that keeps appearing in my images?
This was the best and easiest video to learn from. I was overwhelmed and nearly decided to not bother till I watched this! Thank you!
I’m so glad to hear it helped, and thank you so much for the support! I’m working on another similar tutorial for a different object, so stay tuned for that in the future!
This is simply the best tutorial for astrophotography! Thank you!

Loved the video. Really. Super clear explanation step by step. Amazing work! Thank you!
Thank you so much for those kind words, and for watching! I really appreciate it, and I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!
I finally was able to capture Orion Nebula by following your tutorial. This is my first time capturing deep sky object. Thank you.
That's so exciting to hear, thank you for sharing! And congrats on your first image!! I'm working on another similar tutorial for a different object, so stay tuned for that!
Absolutely loved this video, everything about it. Can’t thank you enough for it
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! Thank you for the very kind words and support!
Good job man.. Astrophotography as a community is so much rewarding.. Thanks for sharing your knowledge !
Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for subscribing and for those kind words, I really appreciate it!
Your edits are awsome..i can see how passionate you are making these videos you'll go a long way man keep grinding
Thank you so much!! And yes, I do really enjoy making these videos!
This was great! Thanks for sharing! I will be doing this when Orion shows back up in the northern hemisphere. You've earned a new sub 👍
Great to hear, and I’m glad you enjoyed it! Best wishes on Orion, and thank you so much for subbing!!
Thank you for this video. I’ve just started my journey into the D’Souza search.
@@nekadoe552 I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Excellent video. One of the best step by step explanation on taking and processing deep sky photographs. Your explanations of dark, bias and flat shots are better than anyone's including "Nebula Photos'". Thorough explanations despite some cartoon silliness in between.
Wow, thank you so much for those really kind words! I really appreciate you watching and really appreciate the support, that means a lot to me!
@@theheavensdeclareastro exactly, Nebula Photo's tutorials are so long, and plus they get so confusing that i often quit in the middle. I've got such a beautiful Orion Nebula picture from your tutorial. Please make more like these. I can't watch Nebula photos.

as an early beginner, a big thanks for this video! Why? Because it's the first one that explains how to take dark, flat and bias frames! Other vids took it for granted and didn't clarify this theme.

Can you make a guide video like this using mirrorless MFT camera?
You should be able to follow this tutorial for a mirrorless or DSLR camera! You’ll just have to adjust based on the size of your sensor and how long you can expose your photos without stars trailing.
