That was so much fun! Great video, awesome meteors, so cool to get the aurora again. We loved Corné’s stargazing heart lilo - that was inspired! Great work as ever, Jeroen. 🙌
Thank you Kevin! I love the Eifel region a lot for astro. Relatively close for me but a bunch darkes than what I'm used to. The spot itself was a B choice because our original spot was crowded haha. It turned out to be an excellent choice for a relaxt night indeed!
Really enjoyed watching this and wow, what an epic night.. so many meteors and the amazing Aurora.. great experience and great images.. Haha.. heart shaped bed (nice idea)
@@marcelvandenbos thanks Marcel! Both nights were absolutely fantastic! I'm hearing from some that the Perseids were disappointing this year, but I don't agree. Yes, the number of large fireballs wasn't that great, but we've seen sooo many medium-sized ones. And both nights with aurora also, come on man, that's historic! 😀
2:10 - this picture alone blows me away already! The colors! The Milky Way! The chapel with a slight backlight! The moon! And of course: that beautiful pink-reddish streak in the middle! Beautiful! And I personally like that there's a person in the picture at the left, because exactly this happened to me on my last Milky Way shooting 🤣
@@NatanielsArt thank you! Those clear skies are always a challenge. We make it a sport to hunt them around these special events. We try. Hard. Sometimes it works out 😅
Really enjoyed this second part too. Man, honestly, I am a bit jelly :D but happy you got so many great images. Like I said many times before, you guys really know how to have a good time under the stars.
Woooow! Okok great one! Great experience shared! Happy for you guys you got aurora 2 times, clear skies and enjoyed all that. 1. Meteor 28 was soooo beautiful, that green tail! 2. I like your aligned chapel shot the most! The edit is great, the colours are perfectly between saturated and dark enough. 3. I need a heart mattress! ♥️ Great Corne! 4. Please let's go to Edersee at some point together! Quernstkapelle is such a gem!
Thanks a lot Jan! The alternative location turned out pretty well in the end! And 28 was bizarre, right?! 😀. And yes... everybody needs an astro love bed now. + totally in for Edersee region sometime!
Great video as always Jeroen! Really like your vlogs. Looks like you guys had a great night with lots of meteors. Was lucky enough to have clear skys myself and got to see alot of good meteors 😁 ( and some norwegian aurora )
Thanks Roy! Always a pleasure to read that people like the videos! 😀 Brilliant you also were able to witness them + likely even much better aurora up there 👌
Hello, another great video. We were at the Kottenborn Chapel on August 10th. We were very lucky, there was only one other photographer there. So we had the whole spot to ourselves. Unfortunately without a beautiful shooting star in the direction of the Milky Way. May I ask where this chapel is in the Eifel? Greetings Uwe
The second day of the Perseids was as good or even better than the first day, and the bonus of the Aurora, the photos were TOP, thanks for sharing your night adventure Jeroen
"This is not what we planned"... let me tell you, if you HAD planned it, it would never have happened 😂 That's the harsh reality of our craft. Great video, it's so fun to relive that night again through someone elses eyes/lens!
Haha, you are 100% right Martin 😄. Super nice you enjoyed it! Also had tons of fun watching your experience from Sweden! I have never seen someone freak out in such a relaxt way 😄👌
Very nice indeed... First night 11-12/08 I left the camera at my backyard with a lot of light pollution, even thought the arurora came to see what was going on, second night (12-13) I went a bit away of light polution but aurora was weak. You were even lower than me, and had a better show, seems that darkness made the difference. I heard about Eifel National park a couple of times and I would like to go there one night. Let me know wher is the best spot there. :)
Thank you! And indeed, dark skies always matter. Be aware though that especially with aurora, the camera sees a lot more than the naked eye. Eifel is a nice region. There is no particular 'best spot'. Just check lightpollutionmap.info and see which area has the most darkness in the direction you want to photograph.
@@StarScaperPhoto I know enough about aurora :) I have a bortle scale 3-4 near me here in Limburg, usually is where I go. I want to start to go deeper in the milkyway and other DSO, hard to find a decent spot nearby and I still do not have a star tracker. But, again, thanks for the video, cool to see all the adventure into our neighbors. Regards... @ivebeentolapland
I got a question - for landscape and constelation shots withought a startracker what mattters more pixel pitch (size of pixel) or more mega pixels if the sensor size is APS-C . Can anyone tell me the perfect sweetspot for pixel pitch in an APS-C for untracked landscape astrophotography
I hope someone else can answer that properly. I am not that technical guy. My best advice would always be to just shoot with what you have and you'll probably be fine ;-). What I've read though is that too much mp's isn't the best for astro. Around 20-25 mp's seems to the consensus of the sweetspot between detail and noise performance.
Wow that meteor at 5:02 was a cracker Jeroen! Even a plume of smoke! Did you hear any sounds from that one? What a fantastic nights Astro, you had everything Aurora Pereids even Pleiades and Taurus ♉️ you all captured some fantastic images 👍
Thanks Carl! We had a blast indeed! 😀. Can't say I noticed any sounds of the meteors. Only the clicking of our camera's and Corné's inflatable bed haha.

So nice to hear you enjoyed again Paul! Indeed, every astrophotographer should have an inflatable heart.
What an amazing night this was! I had seen 14 shooting stars in two hours and 7 were captured. Aurora was a nice bonus. Great video as always 👏🏻
Thanks Mark! This night was awesome. Sounds like you had a great one yourself too 👌
Absolut great Video. Thank you for your effort. 👍👍👍
