I had a similar thing happen to me. Low and behold at the end of service when our fnb manager came in, we all got bollocked, despite her knowing it was David’s (our head chef) fault.
Every dysfunctional company I've worked at has had this problem. There's a ton of talented employees who know the problems (and often, WHO the problem is) but don't have any ability to actually fix things!
Except he didn’t really make anything except his paychecks. hell he was so indifferent to this restaurant that even after 15 years he couldn’t communicate in English at all.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 I can't front I was rolling when I saw that...he really didn't care about none of it...sad they really let him fake it til he made it for so long
Honestly, sous chef Daniella is such a champ for tolerating so much shit from that joke of a chef and a sad excuse for an owner like Tatiana. She deserves so much better.
Tatiana needed a push in the right direction, I wouldn't nessasarily say she a sad excuse for an owner, Ramsey took her out her comfort zone and she doing a much better job now
The fact that Casemiro basically ruined the restaurant for years and pretty much tricked Tatiana into thinking he was a competent chef, and then when she fired him, which was completely justified, and then he made her feel guilty about firing her, is actually disgusting. What a horrible person
He's been using her for so long and she believed he is her "father figure" since her dad isn't there at her family either passed away, divorced with his mom or maybe left them a long time ago. When she fired him, he looked shocked because she finally can stand up of herself and realized he can't used her anymore.
Yes. That grin clearly said that he's just doing poorly because its funny. I'm pretty sure he can cook, he just doesn't want to in this restaurant. Also the little "what is it my child" is pure belittling. Not even accepting a hug for her concern of him. Shouldn't even have shed a tear, he was just being super mean anyway
Yeah, the dynamic kind of reminded me of a teen crush and the older guy who casually takes advantage. Not sure it was ever a physical relationship, though....
@@nataleo9093 the affection is more of a guilt. she mention Casimiro has children back home, so firing someone close to retirement age would be really painful. She was scared to fire him but brave enough to end up firing him, I respect that
just because he was bad at his job, doesn't remove the relationship they had???? even the mom was hurt by the decision, who you said is about to be homeless.. obviously they were friends. the fact you're so unempathetic is crazy
@@scarycarrieee Unempathetic? That man got over on that family for 15 years and then had the nerves to have an attitude when chef Gordon was trying to teach him how to cook the correct way so that his "friend" could actually run a successful restaurant that would benefit everyone, including him.
@@scarycarrieeelmao huh the mom was dumb af she was hurt because her “friend” that was running the place to the ground and was making sure she was going to be homeless, got fired
She cared so mich about that chef and he didnt spare her a second glance walking out. Even grinned. That was a 15 year scam he pulled on 3 restaurant owners
It's mind boggling she allowed that to continue for so long. I despise firing my employees. By far the worst part about being an owner, and it literally keeps me up at night so it's not a decision I make on emotion. You gotta separate your feelings from your business though. Doesn't matter if it's my son or my best friend, there are standards, and if you don't live up to them, I'll find someone else who will.
@@topspot4834Respect, that’s how it needs to be. No one says u gotta be an ass when u do need to let people go but gotta put the buisness first and not let resistance to change or failure to keep high standards get in the way.
Why would she care? Her mom and sister put up their homes, per her own admission she only put up $1k and her expenses are being paid. But… the mom and sister are also accountable, they are frustrated but being majority owners they also have the majority to force Tatiana to make changes or remove her as an active participant in the business. It really feels like Tatiana has always gotten her way growing up and this is what happens when they don’t earn their way there. She lacks the confidence that she would have gained by getting pushback and learning how to deal with conflict.
I can imagine how she came to buy the place. Her hanging out with her coworkers bragging about how she'd run things if she owned the place. Then the owner telling everyone he was going to be closing the place and retire, then she thinks 'This is my chance' with the prodding from her coworkers, and indebts her mom and sister whispering lies of how successful it is and how its easy money. Then it brings us to where she is now in this episode. Unable to change or be the boss in the eyes of her coworkers thinking she'd lose their respect.@@medievalpeanut4269
One of the best parts of this show is the waitstaff that is completely honest and tells Gordon exactly what it wrong with the food, the management, and the place.
Gordon's friendliness with them definitely helps them feel like they can be real with him. He lets em know right away that he knows that it's not their fault
@@aniyilator once in awhile he gets one where the waitstaff is at least partially to blame but he doesn't cut them slack when that's the case, he can tell where the problems are.
@@Hunter88993 Gordon Ramsay would have gone so close that you would be able to smell his breath from the TV,yelled at him to repeat himself in the most angriest tone he can muster and finally told him to fuck off and never come back
Not too crazy if they all believed in the restaurant. What's crazy to me is that they put their houses up, didn't seem to have a contract or anything else to show for their investment, AND they seemingly had zero say. What? They are Angel investors, should be partners, and they should be keenly aware of the what the books look like. Additionally, all three of the ladies should have known what was going on in the kitchen and freezers/refrigerators. They should also be eating there and tasting the food at least periodically. Ramsey had one craptastic meal and went straight to the kitchen to find out why it was so bad... in the span of less than 12 hours. They've had years.
The nerve of her to say SHE has the stress of "the money" is just incredible. She has NO SKIN in this game at all. It's been handed to her on a silver platter, and yet she has the gall to blame everyone else but herself.
Probably one of the most annoying owners i have seen for this series. Just don't understand how she can put some random crappy chef above her own family.
There are people who will treat strangers better than their family members. My father is one of them, he gives random people money but can't give me, his daughter, a single dime without acting like it's too much. When he found out my aunt was giving me 53.30$ a month (yes, you read this right, it's a month) he flipped out saying she was giving me too much and told her to stop giving me all together...
I love how that one girl in the kitchen knows exactly why Gordon's unimpressed and is somehow able to deal with not being able to give her opinion, that's some willpower
You mean, the sous chef? Feel bad for her too. She said herself that her hands are tied to the kitchen, she couldn't do anything with that crybaby spoiled owner and the head chef who doesn't care to anything.
Unfortunately it is people like her the world needs but also the type of people the world doesn't have in enough abundance because starting out they have too many consequences for doing and saying the right thing and so many give up being that way and learn to be quiet. It is a shame.
This was a surprisingly quick episode. No huge changes, just simply getting rid of bad cogs, and offering guidance to the owner. The potential was always there, literally just a few bad cogs making the machine grind and creak. Sometimes you need to let go of someone who is not benefitting you. Very true lessons here.
She seemed so surprised by each dish, as if she had never actually eaten anything coming out of her own restaurant's kitchen. How can she say she loves the place if she's never actually eaten any of the food? I think she just likes the idea of being a restaurateur with a glass in her hand.
She's a spoiled kid who thinks everyone needs to be magically happened in the blink of an eye. I'm sure her mother spoiled her very much as you can see her mother just smiling and really quiet throughout the entire episode. However, you see that her mother is heartbroken to see her daughter act that way. She's probably thinking, "Oh no, I raised my daughter wrongly. What have I done?" The entire time. And even more disgusting, Tatiana didn't apologize to her mom and her sister to make their house on jeopardy for her stupid dream. She only thinks of herself until the end.
Also, I found it bullshit that she's been there for 10 years but never taste any of the food as you can see she's even feel disgusted with that toasted Ravioli meanwhile the waitress who served Gordon knows more about the food than her and she's even feeling embarassed to serve that "Lasagna" and never recommend the Ravioli. But seriously, that's a Lasagna? It looks like a curry rice. Not to mention, she's even called the Pastas as "Noodles" and mistaken Pizza Dough with Pizza Bread. You're the owner of Italian Restaurant, Goddamit!
The relationship between the head chef and the owner is fascinating... It's like he's some kind of father figure that she loves and when Ramsay exposes how incompetent he is and she has to fire him... shes in tears and wants a hug and he's just like... well I knew this day would come when someone would finally figure out I have no idea how to be a chef... guess i'll go back to my real job...
And even more priceless, when the owner tasted that ravioli, she looks like she wanna vomit. Seriously, 10 years in that restaurant and she's never tasting or knowing about the food? What a joke.
"Unfortunately, Charlie’s Italian Bistro closed in July 2012. This means that it only survived for around eight months after the visit from Gordon Ramsay and only four months after the Charlie’s Kitchen Nightmares episode aired on TV. @@hosunini sometimes I wonder what the threshold is to win an application at kitchen nightmares. Like, is it possible that a restaurant HAS to be in so much debt to be picked? Feels like in most episodes it's something like upwards of 500k. Although something like a great character for TV must be more important to them. Still: more debt, more drama, more stress and more intensity amongst the people working there. I don't think the way this show concept is done, can't really help a lot of restaurant Although they drastically increase the value with equipment and new interiors - that's gotta help a bit
I just loved the whole “I didn’t put a gun to their head” thing. Like no you didn’t, but you did ask them to financially screw themselves and the roof over their families heads. And that’s not much of an improvement on the gun tbh
I think everyone is in the wrong here. The chef is bad for tricking them but at the same time he’s trying to get money to survive. The owner should’ve done something about the restaurant. The sister and the mom did a good job of helping her but they also should’ve stood up for themselves and said no. But honestly I appreciate how honest the server and the other girl who speaks Spanish are.
I know some people will be nervous to meet a celebrity but it's just innapropriate and disrespectful. She was completely drunk when she met Gordon as you can see she put a glass of wine before they were going outside.
Closed in 2012 after Johnathan left, Tatiana went on to be an actor in Mexican tv, waitress died 3 years after the episode aired. Mother and sister still work at catholic school as Dean and guidance counselor.

She is not an evil person but definitely manipulative - she charms, she dominates, she cries as needed. This was a big nest of facilitators. The Mom and the sister mesmerized by the beautiful Tatiana who is basically a spoiled child, unable to face reality or take criticism. They made her naive and weak which in turn allowed a parasite like Casimiro to suck the blood out of the restaurant. The waitress and sous-chef were unfortunately stuck in the middle of this toxic soup.

This restaurant, like so many on the show, closed shortly after. He just told them their food was bad but didn't help them on a marketing or financial level. It's a tough industry, it's more challenging to create a delicious meal for acceptable prices since the whole world is raising prices on everything. I am worried that only chains like Mc Donald's will survive in the future.
We can’t possibly expect Gordon to start marketing campaigns or funding their failures. It highlights how purposefully ignorant and unwilling to learn the head people are while taking no accountability. They have a shot with him but it’s up to them to change their work ethic and business strategy. They never took it seriously so most are bound to fail.
I'm sorry, I need to take a second to appreciate: a Spanish man, cooking Italian food, that apparently looks and tastes Chinese. The man is a cultural enigma. If anything, that extra distance just makes him even more of an enigma.
And she looks like she wanna vomit after tried the Ravioli and called the Pastas as "Noodles" and mistaken Pizza Bread with Pizza Dough. I bet she has no idea what 86'd it mean. The moment he said: "What's wrong, my child?" Really shows that he has been manipulating her for so long because of her naive and drunk behaviour. She probably saw him as father figure, because if you look at her family, her dad isn't there. The moment when she fired him is the moment he realized, she can't be manipulated anymore. Also, when she asked "Are you gonna cook?" To him is a joke! You're in the middle of dinner service where everyone is hungry to wait for their food and you asking him like asking a regular question! Especially with that "Innocent Puppy Look"
I think you may be overanalyzing it. Perhaps the guy was just hurt and felt betrayed that he got fired. Of course he will not be happy in that moment and want to hug whoever fired him. Perhaps he isn't a scam and genuinely is just bad enough at cooking that he thought he did an ok job. Shouldn't judge people without knowing everything.
It CLOSED. Eight months later, it was gone. I hope the mother and sister didn't lose their homes. And it appears to me, Tatiana has a drinking problem. Drinking ON THE JOB??? And you can imagine what she does at home.
Give her a break. You don’t have a beautiful complexion like hers if you have an entrenched drinking problem. It was probably just a stress relief at the time.
This one hurt to watch. Imagine throwing your family under the bus when their very housing is on the line but you don't want to change because you're scared of confronting your head chef over complaints. The way Tatiana's sister just coldly stared at her *every time* Tatiana had to make another comment showed just how exhausted and done she was in this situation.
Cassimero was a literal joke. Rude, can’t accept criticism, crap food, inability to cook. And when she fired him he just went “no, bye!” After she nearly ran the restaurant into the ground to try and let him keep his job! I just…I can’t
Also, in the meatball cook off with Daniella, the Sous Chef, when Gordon complemented her meatball, he said: "I don't like it!" Like a true sore loser who's mad when someone is doing better job than him. He knows English but refused to speak it to avoid the confrontations but Gordon saw his body language and he has dealt with many mental people so he's very used to see their body language. Also, he got spoiled by Tatiana and he knew Tatiana won't be mad at him. When Tatiana finally fired him, he realized he can't use her anymore and looked genuinely shocked.

Years ago, I used to work as an assistant pastry chef at The Double Tree Hotel in Plymouth Meeting. A culinary consultant who was visiting to revamp the menu told me 'most restaurants, as in 8 out of 10, fail within the first five-years of opening.' Hotel Hell and Kitchen Nightmares are prime examples of people "playing" at owning and managing culinary establishments.
She seemed so surprised by each dish, as if she had never actually eaten anything coming out of her own restaurant's kitchen. How can she say she loves the place if she's never actually eaten any of the food? I think she just likes the idea of being a restaurateur with a glass in her hand.

This restaurant, like so many on the show, closed shortly after. He just told them their food was bad but didn't help them on a marketing or financial level. I am worried that only chains like Mc Donald's will survive in the future.
We can’t possibly expect Gordon to start marketing campaigns or funding their failures. It highlights how purposefully ignorant and unwilling to learn the head people are while taking no accountability. Especially the fact Tatiana's sister look older than her, she should've told her how to be responsible since she's the oldest and know about experience. @@margarethmichelina5146 This business venture was never the dream of the sister or the mother. They weren't the ones who wanted to buy the restaurant, Tatiana was for sentimental reasons. It wasn't even their full time job. They made that perfectly clear. Their mistake was lending her money. They became the collateral for a family member who clear didn't care about them enough to take care of their investment. According to the episode, they did tell her multiple times the chef was the problem, that the restaurant needed change, etc, but it would fall on deaf ears. Tatiana was too full of herself and always put on this "Don't tell me what to do, I know what I'm doing" facade.
At the end, apparently this restaurant went under. As the true owner of the restaurant, Tatiana was at fault, but the fault of being broke was the mom and the sister. I know you should try and help family when you can, but getting money involved for a business, especially when family puts their HOMES on the line, is a big no for me.
