Celine seemed like such a hardworking, passionate, genuine, kind woman!! She loves the restaurant and would do anything to make it successful!! She is open to change and willing to do whatever ot takes to keep restaurant running and carrying on the legacy! It brought a tear to my eye when Celine smiled after her brother kissed her. She deserves happiness and her turbulent relationship with her brother was killing her inside!! The smile was a true expression of happiness and relief!!

@PositivyT I absolutely despise reality tv, but Gordon does it genuinely and with a passion for his craft. Very different from reality tv I think
this show sometimes shows something that I've been a big advocate of: so many issues in today's life would be solved with therapy. sometimes you just need a 3rd person who is objective or has a fresh outlook and can kinda tear down the walls, calm the waves, make you face your problems head on. because let's face it, often we don't have the ability to face a problem head on. our brain makes us cut corners, or avoid finding solutions by not fixating on the problem, by dodging it. with therapy, and it doesn't need ot be deep "dive into your brain and figure out your innermost insecurities" therapy. just normal, easy going therapy. talking to a person who knows their shit, who knows when to add comments and when to let you talk and when to ask questions. it can help so many people in so many different situations in life, but it's stigmatized. "oh he's seeing a shrink he must be wrong in the head" "look at her she's going to therapy something must be wrong with her" "look at them seeking couple counseling, their relationship must be in the bin". fuck stigmatizing therapy. therapy should be a normalized thing. it should be as normal as going to the doctor's when you have a cold and can't come in to work! (I know it's different for you Americans, since you can't go to the doctor for a cold because you'll be bankrupt, but that's a whole other topic)

I always wanted to hug Celine during this episode. During the entire episode she didn't carry herself unprofessionally, yet she got the short end of the stick every time. She was also the person who effectively saved their restaurant by calling Gordon over. La Frite was one of Kitchen Nightmare's few success stories; the restaurant did very well until they decided to sell it.
Celine was the reason the whole thing didn't blow up on them.
Celine was the one who put her foot down and told it how it is. She knows what she’s doing yet they all act like she’s the one creating the problem. The issue is that they don’t respect her

Bruh Celine is literally the most calm, kind and put together person on this show like wtf. If i was ignored when i know full well i was the only one that knew how to fix the problems id get so angry. Especially if it was because i was a girl. The problem is the father actually. Maybe many people don’t notice it but he has such misogynistic attitudes and big egos. Subtle but red flags are all there. The fact that this father allows such shi*ty attitude Martin to still be an employee is beyond ridiculous. If I were the owner I would get rid of him in seconds to behave like that to anyone, especially my family members. Also the father is not very smart, like unintelligent. Who would go to a hockey game when your restaurant is about to be closed and this wonderful opportunity is handed to you? I have to have no brain to do something like that. I really felt for Celine in this episode. I've been in a similar situation leading a team, and partner and best friend began to resent me for not sharing all of his views and going along with whatever he said, despite us both having the same experience and skill-level. We couldn't even be in a room together and were never able to reconcile our friendship, and we both ending up leaving around the same time. I'm glad Celine and Alex were able to work on their communication and relationship, despite how difficult and emotional it was. And to anyone who reads this and can relate at all, I wish you all the best and I hope you know that I'm rooting for you and I genuinely hope your situation improves.

What makes me feel uneasy is how Martin still has not gotten fired after how many times Gordon tried to suggest them? He was the number 1 reason for the failure of the restaurant in my opinion.
Later, in the revisit episode, Gordon revisit this restaurant again and Martin is not there anymore. Instead, Chuy, the chef that Gordon brought in to help becomes the Executive Chef of the restaurant and their father is helping on the kitchen again. Probably Martin got fired off screen or quit for good.

I watch the revisit episode of this restaurant, Martin wasn't there anymore and instead it was the father who was back to the kitchen to cook again. The siblings worked together as the team and no one mentioning where Martin was. Unfortunately the restaurant closed at 2017 but the restaurant survived from the day the episodes aired since 2011 for 6 years so it's not bad.

@@imnat3231 well it was sold, not forced by the bank or something. maybe they got a great offer and decided they wanted to do something else in life and took the money, dad probably retired and children went somewhere else with a stack of cash (luckly sold before pandemic) so imo it wasn't really sad
@@katieee4915Yea I did a bit of research a lot of the restuarants that actually went on to be successful all the way up to 2020 all closed due to the pandemic only a select few survived during it
How celine is treated by her brother and head chef is DISGUSTING. She is the only one who cares and can see the reality of why the restaurant is failing. She is being attacked for doing her job very well.

I am not convinced it is that simple. The father mentioned that the son bought the restaurant so while the son is taking his anger out on the wrong person it seems like the father might have fucked over the son.

Yeah that was the most confusing and puzzling part in this entire video. Why they keep incapable and disrespectful employee like that? Not to mention he was a bully to Celine. And they did that for years and years. I hope he’s gone by now.

boy, i wish you could see czech kitchen nightmares and my fav episodes
1) Owners dont pay their kitchen staff, they give chef items to sell instead and then call police on him so he ends up in detention cell
2) Owner scammed her ex boyfriend, cheated on him and episode ends half way through when her ex brings some mafia guys and they chase away the TV crew and the owners
3) Owners dont pay their kitchen staff and one of the ex-employees comes straight into shot and threatens to beat them up
those are rollercoasters of emotions, mostly "WTF" emotions

@@strz3086 Every time he says that the food is bland I think the cook(s) just didn't add enough spices. I use a lot when I cook, my first dishes were too spicy, even for me. Or perhaps he means something else. Either way, what Gordon gets is crap.

To those who are interested: La Frite aired on May 20 2011, the episode was filmed in January 2011 and Yelp reviews following the filming of the episode were mixed, the Sunday brunch seems to have the most negative reviews. Trip Advisor reviews were most positive with fewer negative reviews.
In July 2016 the restaurant was bought by George Zaoui who kept the restaurant as La Frite for a year.
La Frite closed in September 2017 when the owner changed the restaurant to an Italian eatery Modo Mio.
With every episode I always look forward to have these restaurants to continue for years and years, it always saddens me when even Gordon can’t help and they don’t continue running😢

I love all the sound effects added, when Gordon started to eat the salad the slopping noises are hilarious. And if the salad is bland maybe add some salt and pepper, but I'm highly doubtful that would help

Gordon is a good guy. Some people think he's all bark bark bark, "this is raw", etc. But no, he's a pretty good guy. And a damn good chef.
Good chef know good foods. And Gordon is the god we have now that knows how to cook.
Except most of what he does is an affectation. Customers eat food normally, Ramsey fakes vomiting and spits out food...
