I love this. I recently figured out tre flips with a scoop, but before I would always try to pop, scoop and flick. When I tried it like that I would never land it. It wasn’t until I realized my back foot did everything that I landed tres consistently. However, once I revisited the other way I found it was about the same in terms of difficulty just more pop. I love to do them both ways, feels like it depends on the obstacle.

Always been easier to scoop but it seems like I can get more pop and higher tres it's just a little more difficult. Great content still guys.
P.s. you should dedicate certain days to doing certain things like the berrics have first try fridays. Have like one day where is just raw footage of them skating..(dont have to keep every bail in the vid.) Have a day where you try a new board. Have a day where you focus on a trick that's difficult for one of them to land and have them tell there ideas, tips and opinions on how to land it to help beginner skaters. Be awesome for you to contact a young beginner skater and have them send a video of him or her landing the trick. Or a little compilation of them at the beginning like 2 or 3 mins of them. Than go over the trick and then show how each one does it and discuss the trick and origin. Maybe the videos of younger skaters and the tips and ideas will help influence other younger kids want to skate and help teach them how to do a trick they wanna learn. Then also have your day where you try out things like the penny board and long board. You can try out different trucks and wheels. Compare skate shoes to boots or tennis shoes. Make a video of the difference a person looks from skating in pants vs shorts and how pants gives ya that extra steez. Lmfao. Much love

Old skater in his mid 30's. I spent a stupid amount of 2020 unlearning and relearning my these. I think the back foot scoop thing is less a lie, and more of a hack to correct for bad posture. What people like Felipe Gustavo and Jamie both have when they pop is good posture and tension on the board. They are not hunched over, they are in the back seat. It's not all about the feet my friends.Edit: Zac your tre flips are really fucking nice

Jamie griffin way forces you to pop more / jump higher thus giving a more vertical flip. Much flashier IMO than the standard front foot tre but arguably less practical/ harder to control.
I like the second way because it’s reminiscent of a 90s style treflip. (Gorilla toe flip trick knowledge wasn’t probably as wide spread then) more vertical flips in the 90s videos

I noticed Zac has his shoulders pretty 'opened' up when he does tres, as in his shoulders are on an angle, almost perpendicular to board. If you pause when he's mid air he's almost completely facing forward. I've always thought that squared up shoulders (parallel to board) is the way to go. But when I've tried them with shoulders opened up, I feel like my lower body can make the board spin faster. Maybe this is the trick to getting those effortless fast tres Edit: 0:24 you can see him throw his arms out when he jumps and his stretched out arms are nearly perpendicular to the direction he's going

as long as you can get enough weight on your toe side it doesn't matter if you hang over or not, but obviously it's easier for most people to learn the motion that way

Say you have tighter trucks, flatter concave and wider/longer tail and trucks that aren't as narrow with more with wheels that are less rounded, hanging off or in the pocket gets your tip in right for the Tre. Loose trucks and more concave on the tail (or even narrower tail) and you're hitting that tipping point easier even popping your tail more centered, you're still gonna be getting that scoop, your mind just thinks you're slowing that flick and rotation down and it all comes together.
Try it with different setups, you may need to change less behavior to get the result, if it's more pop, or more scoop. Didn't even mention truck height or rotational mass dynamics of truck weight/width, wheel shape as much.
Overthinking it, yeah a bit. Starting to skate soon after 15 years so it's awesome, I'm gonna try everything different with my seriously since I have to embrace the suck anyways.

try and lean back more on your back foot. and also try scooping sort of infront of you instead of scooping behind you.Its kind of weird because you end up still scooping behind you but not as much its kind of in the middle of infront and behing you.

I feel like it might just be a situational thing....if you need that lil extra pop go for that version, else stick to whatever you are comfy with
