Bro! Lifting my back heel and curling my toes right in the pocket like that, changed everything for me. At 46 years old I finally have a consistent Tre-flip! Thank you!! 🤘
I'm 40 this year and thought my skating days were long gone, After not stepping on a board for over 10 years I was shocked how easily it all came back, absolutely loving it atm just gotta protect that hip from snapping 😂
Couldn’t do tre for 20 years until someone told me the missing piece of the puzzle. Jump a little bit over to the right diagonally as that’s where the board is going
@@theskatevectorkudzmuti think of it in 3 stages. Stage one is get your feet in tre position. Step two is put your weight in the back seat and step 3 is to pop/ scoop and jump diagonally following the board
That definitely helps for some people. My BF has to jump like 2-3 feet to the right in order to do it. I just jump straight up because my board stays right under me.
I think it is so sick how you learned a lot of tricks from your brother. My brother and I both skate but for us the dynamic is switched because I help teach my brother a lot of basic tricks even though he is 2 years older.
I used to do tré flips popping them with the nose when I first started learning them. Years later, a friend noticed I did them this way and couldn't believe it. He convinced me to relearn them by popping the tail. When I eventually figured them out, I got very consistent with them. Felt more confident too. Took them down stairs with no fear. I recently started skating again at the age of 40. Ankles and kneees and lower back problems are the biggest issue now, but I enjoy landing tricks again. Even if it is like 20 tries later
Hey man saw u at the kingswell sesh in august. It’s wild how different it is watching u skate compared to other skaters. Everything is just pristine! Your frontside flip over the picnic table was unreal, still watch that clip every once an awhile lol. An these treflips couldn’t be more perfect. Cheers on the tips! Would love a frontside flip vid!
Really well made video cept for the one audio hiccup. Love the way you explained everything bro. Long time skater here, came for the tips and stayed for the vibes. Loved the flow of the video and your explanations and music. Nice man!
I can rotate my tre flips every time and I have them pretty good, but my biggest struggle is keeping my front shoulder closed, I feel like I snap my lead shoulder open when popping and I will land a lot of them with my shoulders open and my hips forward almost. How do you practice keeping shoulder closed and hips square? It may just be a lack of power and pop so I am overcompensating with my hips and shoulders ? Keep up the great content !
That’s one of the hardest parts I forgot to mention. The only way to learn is to force yourself not to turn. It’s so awkward initially but with practice you’ll be able to control how far your shoulders turn. I hope that helps!
Bro I have found that literally just kinda pointing your arm behind you will do all the stuff you mentioned. Like you're gonna throw a haymaker just keep your back arm behind you and that will keep your hips and shoulders where you want. Trust me
Same issue I have. My front shoulder opens up and I land similar kinda “diagonal” facing forward. Been doing them every day till I lock em down. Day 20 so far. We got this man
you nailed it ,its over compensation with your hip and shoulders and also where you are looking sometimes. it might be your looking to far ahead and your shoulders are just naturally turning open. the other possibilty is your jumping to quickly. im guessing you have a 3 flip where you do you big jump forward right? like if you needed to 3 flip on a 2 ft balance beam, youd fall off?
Great tips. I think you touched on this recently in another video (Crob Woodward?). It’s helped me a lot with finding my tre flips again and correcting my technique.
I have been skating for a while now. I remember when I first started, it was difficult to flick my tre's. However, with practice, I got used to it. One day, a friend lent me their penny board and I flipped it, noticing the slow-motion effect. Suddenly, everything clicked in my head. Since then, I have stopped flicking my tres and instead focus on catching and flicking them correctly with my back foot, making it easier for me. I wish i saw this video 8 yrs ago lmao
Mine always seem to lag behind me, like my back foot lands on the board but the front foot is in front of the board. I always hear to lean back more if that happens, but then i can never get it to snap or scoop right. Do you think about leaning a certain way or keeping your shoulders square when doing it?
How far into your skateboarding experience did you decide you were a steep kick guy and why? I tried your VX and realized, I'm not a steep kick guy, I prefer a flatter nose and tail and mellow concave. It would be nice to have more clarification of the geometry in the deck details section on the NHS skate direct site.
I have bone spurs and ligament damage in my back foot/ankle. Lost Tre flips the last few years. I can still do one but I don’t HAVE em anymore. Pretty upsetting. Been putting off surgery for a while I have a small kiddo I take care of full time.
Rotating the board and catching it with front foot is easy for me. What is impossible for me is to keep my back foot above the board. My back foot just lands on the ground to fast no matter how high I jump. Not many tutorials mention this problem. I am so frustrated with this back foot, as I am trying to land this trick every day for months.
Maurio i have a problem where i jump outward whenever i do the treflip. I'm goofy and whenever I pop my body jumps forward (Left of the board). Do you have any suggestions how I can fix this.
The first time i landed a tre was after learning 3 shuvs and getting varials down. I stopped listening to everyone else and their advice on how its all scoop and started flicking my tres and fucking landed one after 3 tries. sometimes the best advice is not to take everyone else's advice. Doing them this way also helped me learn bigflips and full cab flips. But thats just my method personally, theres a million ways to do the same trick which is what makes skateboarding so beautiful.
my problem is i can't put my back foot on the board if i try my tre flip is not gonna do full 360 flip, i can land my font foot on the board perfectly but the back i can't even touch the board with it
Thanks Maurio, time to learn this trick finally with 43. I did it when I was younger kind of like a varial flip and lost interest in it. Keep them videos up and maybe buy a better micro. The sound was a bit low.
I learn this trick for motnths and only landed 3 times, my balance focus too much in left foot(my flick) so when i scoop i always do it with full speed, and it didn't work
That’s a great question. I try my best to find the happy medium for my weight. For me, tight trucks won’t scoop but loose trucks scoop too much. For me to do it right, there has to be a little bit of lean in the truck but enough tightness to have it bounce back once I scoop
I appreciate the tips but you don't really spend enough time & detail explaining the scoop so it doesn't help me much. When you first describe the technique you don't even mention popping you just go straight to scoop. You're not the only one who does this but AFAIK there's definitely a snap/pop in there right before the scoop. Wouldn't be mad if you did another tutorial that was more detailed about that part. Pop the board and scoop almost simultaneously? Or wait like a few milliseconds until the board is about to lift off the ground as you pop and jump? Just so many more details would be helpful. It's not the same learning these when you don't have an in-person teacher
It’s really a mix between popping and scooping but for the most part all you feel is the scooping motion. I agree there are many other small details that could be helpful. Revisiting this in the future wouldn’t be a bad idea. I appreciate the honest feedback!
Why MY tre flips aren't tre flippin? Well, because I try to tre flip without knowing how to land a kickflip xD but the tre is way more natural to me than kickflips.
love how you addressed the "steezy" 3flip at the beginning. thank you for keeping real 360 flip's alive!
I fell victim to the trend when I was younger! Some people can really make them look amazing that way but you can’t beat a Kalis treflip!!
