I’m so excited watching this video. I’m 26 and I stop skating right before I learned to tre flip. I’ve been waiting for inspiration to learn again and this is it.
After almost 6 month on and off practicing 360 flips, watched literally every how to video on RUclips , got countless tips from fellow skaters I landed my first treflip! At the beginning of my journey I always committed to it but always either didn't get the full flip, turned my body as well and almost landed or only landed on the nose with my back foot. Then I started only half committing, getting the full rotation and all, only catching it with my front foot while the board was way in front of me. This went on for at least a month. Yesterday I rewatched this video and thought about that part where you say I should jump a little bit in front of me. Also slomo videos I rewatched yesterday helped figuring out what the back foot really does (some sort of ankle snapping flick diagonally behind and in front of me). So yesterday after work I tried fusing that all together. Jumping forward and the back foot ankle motion. It took me 6 trys and I landed it! Stationary btw. I'm so looking forward to today practicing it while rolling! This video helped getting the last bit of barrier between me and a landed treflip! Thank you so much for that! ❤

they're not bad but the most helpful trick tip vids for me have mostly not been jonny's - but this is an exception and one of the more interesting treflip vids i've seen. the tips about weight distribution before and after the pop are helping clean mine up a lot
I have none of those on lock except the Ollie but I taught myself how to do it just by watching people do it. I can get the rotation down just about every time I just don’t land correctly
Thank you so much for thit amazing masterclass. I was looking forward to thir video to realise the pilars of this beautiful trick, since I've been skating for more than 20 years and I only could land a handfull of those. Really, really appreciated to you Jonny. I'll be practicing treflips again like if I was a kid with a new board!! I'll send you a clip if I land it properly again! Have a nice day. Namasté 👐
If you are having trouble getting the 360 pop rotation it can help to move your back foot closer to the back wheel. While helpful for learning, I don't suggest doing them like that forever though because the back wheel method of the 360 flip makes it very hard to pop them high or while moving fast.
Who else is here even though they could never attempt this trick for a long time and can hardly ollie, but it's interesting to see what it is because you've heard of it? Just me? by the way, if you're on a computer, pressing the period and comma buttons a lot of times on your keyboard when the video is paused is a great way to see any skate you're learning trick step by step, especially ones that are hard to understand like this one
I feel like this helped me. I WILL get these down. Currently skating an 8.5 Welcome with proper width trucks. And it's way different than what I skated growing up. I'm getting back into skating after a very long time of not skating at all. I can 360 pop shuv my new setup easily.. But tre flips are still the enemy. You make them look perfect.. So my goal is to learn them in this same style. Thanks for the tips!
I'm a 47yo skater. I don't wanna say ex-skater, since I skate regurlarly... as in a few times every summer since I was about 20. So, regurlarly. I've nailed this trick once, back in the day. Rolled away and all. Thankfully my buddies saw it, and I was beyond proud. This is an epic trick, legendary almost to us kids back then. I was the only one of us to nail it. It was the holy grail among street tricks. _... Is_ the holy grail, and I would really love to nail it again. And this tutorial might just help me do that. This summer, this summer... If it makes u feel better I can’t kickflip and I’ve gotten closer to landing this trick
stop it, dont try anything besides shuv its before ollie
trust me it really doesn’t work
Me too 😭
I fucking just landed it omg I don’t know how I littry just tried it for the 100 time and I did it and still don’t know how roll on skate bord or ollie

Your tre flips are a thing of beauty! Great vid.
I don't think you need Varial... Tre flip flips easier. It's physically a more stable rotation than a varial.
i think a varial will reinforce the flick so when you tre it is going to be easier to focus on the back leg
0:14 ... love this one ... looks cool when the back foot comes a bit later back to the board ... i am nearly 50 now and i wish i where young again ;-)
but to much broken bones and so on ...
enjoy it while you still can !!
I can 360 flip a lot easier than I can varial kickflip. F that trick
Was gonna say the same. It might be easier to do an awful varial flip, but I've done less than 10 in 17 years of skating, cause I quickly learned it's easier to control tres.
This guy is a Legend. Stoked I caught this tutorial! and Who TF disliked this video? SMH. Thanks for making it Jonny! I learned a lot here
360 Shuvs are harder than Tre Flips let's be honest
Mannnn. I can do damn near every trick including 3 shuvs, except for tres
@@ereno5995 I learned to Shuv before I could Ollie and I learned Varials before I could Kickflip I dont understand why that extra rotation is so challenging
Jonny is such a great teacher.
Im turning 40 soon. Been skating since i was 6 and am relearning to do flip tricks. Kind of embarrassing but im not gonna give up. You rock, thank you bro!
Most in depth trick tip video out. Good job man!
This is your best trick tip video by far jonny
they're not bad but the most helpful trick tip vids for me have mostly not been jonny's - but this is an exception and one of the more interesting treflip vids i've seen. the tips about weight distribution before and after the pop are helping clean mine up a lot
I have been waiting this video for sooo long thaaaannnnk🔥🔥
Who else is here even though they could never attempt this trick for a long time and can hardly ollie, but it's interesting to see what it is because you've heard of it? Just me?
by the way, if you're on a computer, pressing the period and comma buttons a lot of times on your keyboard when the video is paused is a great way to see any skate you're learning trick step by step, especially ones that are hard to understand like this one
Took like 60 tries but i landed it first day thanks to this video bless you Johnny for posting this tutorial
i think it is safe to say you have the best tre flips on youtube
Literally landed my first one the day after I watch this video thank you so much
I feel like this helped me.
His accent combined with the scenery and the german poster ad in the bg is making me think I'm watching a video from switzerfornia.
its crazy how effortless he makes it look
Had a lil break and going to the park today. Strange enough this was the first video on my recommended. Guess time for a lil recap
best explanation on how to tre flip, thanks again Giger you are the man !
Jonny Man
I finally learned Tre flip because of you!!
You are the 🐐
Thanks a lot I'm strugling so much with my treflips this will help for sure 🛹
I'm a 47yo skater. I don't wanna say ex-skater, since I skate regurlarly... as in a few times every summer since I was about 20. So, regurlarly.
I've nailed this trick once, back in the day. Rolled away and all. Thankfully my buddies saw it, and I was beyond proud. This is an epic trick, legendary almost to us kids back then. I was the only one of us to nail it. It was the holy grail among street tricks.
_... Is_ the holy grail, and I would really love to nail it again. And this tutorial might just help me do that.
This summer, this summer...
I'll let you know if I succeed. Just like I will ofcourse tell my old buddies 🙂
those are the cleanest tre flips i've ever seen
That was the best tutorial I've ever watched
Absolutely great tutorial Mr. Giger! Thank you kindly
the tutorial i needed by the right person at the right time.
This clip encouraged me to try treflip again!
Thanks!!
Just from watching this it’s way more in depth and I’m gonna try and land these soon
