    Have a 2017 Pro-4x got it almost a year ago with 24k miles and it has been great, gets through mud holes and soft sand with ease. Can tow a 19ft boat with no problem and help out Nissan titans and other full size trucks out of mud or sand like it’s nothing. Solid truck.

    What you talking bout Roman? This Frontier is WAY cheaper than the competition...and just as capable...and more reliable, since it's been thoroughly tested and refined over the last 12 years. Also, the small size is a major advantage in off-roading. I'm tired of every truck getting absurdly huge for no damn reason. It's why I switched from a Sierra to a Colorado and will probably switch to a Pro-4x next.

    • @CarAudioObsessions
      @CarAudioObsessions 2 года назад

      Yep I've got an 09 Nismo 6MT with a few upgrades (JBA headers/Borla Ex/Volant intake, pedal Commander, custom tune) and I beat my friends 2013 Tacoma in every category. Mine is faster, more power and torque, tows better and is just as reliable..even with the money spent on upgrades I'm still thousands less than what he spent on his Tacoma, that had *more* mileage on it than when I bought my Nismo.

    • @CarAudioObsessions
      @CarAudioObsessions 2 года назад

      One of the reasons I bought besides the 6 speed manual and the proven VQ engine was the fact that the truck was mechanically unchanged for so damn long. 2005-2019/20... made it easier to find the spec I wanted and came more down to overall condition and mileage instead of what year it was. A 15 year model run made tons of info available about potential problems and things to look for. Super happy with the truck. I'm in Canada, bought it 2 years ago, 2009 Frontier Nismo 6MT with 152k km (95k miles) for $9400 (under $7500USD)with an almost brand new set of snow tires on separate OEM alloys. The extra set of snows and rims are worth over $1000 easy. Awesome truck for the $$. Now with the crazy prices I see them going for $14-$19K. Ridiculous

    This Frontier is very like Nissan's Patrol, with everybody saying how old fashioned/outdated they are. But when you're in some God forsaken hellhole, miles from anywhere, and your life itself depends on your transport, it's always the Nissans you see people driving.

      Ayy Lmao I don't write this stuff to ruffle the feathers of a few deluded popinjays. I do it mainly to advise US citizens there are places in the world other than the USA. You're a great example of such an individual. I was referring to places like the Kalahari Desert or Hindu Kush, rather than east LA. I was referring to places where, if you have a breakdown, you die, rather than have an inconvenient walk. Where transport is life or death, rather than a fashion statement.

    I've had my 08 Frontier Crewcab w/6ft bed since it was brand new. I live in Alaska and the truck does so well all year round. It's handed rough back country roads, snow, and as well getting even full size trucks get unstuck in the snow. Parking is never an issue. My only complaint with the truck is the turning radius. It takes a full 3 lanes to make a U turn. Other than that I love it and I don't see my self ever selling. It's great truck and I don't regret ever buying. I hope the frontier can still look rugged and not look weird like how they did the new pathfinder.

    Honestly, this is the best bang your buck in terms of utility for a mid size pickup. You can get 281lb-ft, 4wd, and 6000lbs of tow capacity all under $30000. I don’t mind the lack of features since my current daily is a 2005, all I got is cruise control, power seats, AC, an am/fm radio, and a CD player. I don’t demand much. I don’t mind the lack of driver assists either, I didn’t take drivers ed in high school for nothing!

    I just got a 2018 Pro4x on the 3rd this month and so far I love it. An hour after getting it off the lot, I took it offroad to test it out and I'm more then impressed by it. Doesn't have leather and I like the cloth seats. Nor does it have a sun roof which I wouldn't use. I like that the truck has what you need and not a bunch of gimmicky stuff you won't look at again. Personally I like the size of the 5.8 inch Navigation in the truck. It doesn't take up the whole dash and on top of that, the dash you can actually use for mounting things like a CB radio and it be usable. Other vehicles I've had have a big dash but it's all rounded and you cant even do a simple phone mount on the dash and have to start being creative on putting things. I love the truck and I'm very happy with my purchase.

    I've owned two Ford Rangers, two Ford F-150s, two Chevy 1500s, and two Ram 1500s, all four wheel drive, some used and some bought brand new. I just picked up a 2013 Crew Cab Frontier SV 4x4 with the "V6 Value Package" that only has 10,500 miles on it. My thoughts: Wow. This is the best feeling, most solid truck I've ever owned. No rattles, no squeaks, no noises. Frame feels stiff and strong. Suspension feels awesome on and off road. The power from the 4.0 is really good (and still better in torque than the brand new Chevy V6). In 4-low it'll just go anywhere. I LOVE the factory spray in bedliner, utili-track system, easier to read dual zone climate and guages, etc. At 6'3" I have tons of headroom. The fuel economy is quite good actually. The doors close with a solid "thump" that sounds like a luxury vehicle. This is just a really really amazing truck. It's smooth as silk up to 85 MPH. I test drove a 2015 Silverado 4x4 before buying and this Frontier feels like twice the truck even though it's smaller. What I especially love is that this truck has been around for 10 years so all the "bugs" are worked out now. I am confident it'll go 200,000 miles which is a LOT more than I can say for any GM truck I've ever owned or test driven.

NEWLY REDESIGNED cars. Nissan has taken the approach to try and PERFECT the Frontier and many other cars they got, instead of coming out with a totally new redesign every 3 to 4 years with new kinks/recalls. Fuck the naysayers.

    Love the Frontier. It's a great truck. I've got a 2009 Nismo (what the trim was called before changing to Pro-4X) with a 6 speed manual. JBA ceramic coated shorty headers, Borla S-Type exhaust, Volant intake and a Pedal Commander. Also got a tune so I'm getting the most from it all. Truck is putting down 259hp and 307 ft/lb torque at the rear wheels (on pump 93/94 octane). Considering stock it was doing 226hp/274tq at rear wheels on same dyno/temp/conditions I'm quite happy with the increases and how the truck feels overall. Gas mileage has gotten better too, over 4mpg better. For around $1500 in bolt on upgrades and a couple hours on the dyno getting custom tuned it's been well worth it. Truck has been rock solid reliable, tows like a champ and I'm never getting rid of the thing. If you need a truck and don't need a full size, the Frontier should be your choice. I spend alot less than a similar year Tacoma and even with the money spent on upgrades I'm still cheaper. My friend has a 2013 Tacoma and I've beaten him in EVERY head to head we've done from towing, off roading and drag race. The exhaust note is also fantastic!

My pro-4X ran me 36k manual trans v6 and not too much fancy tech. I have no problems dishing out money for a brand new truck that’s 14 years old in fact it was the only truck I’d buy.

      Love my 2016 Pro-4x as well. One of the biggest reasons was stated in the video, the truck is so old, all the kinks have been worked out of it by now. That and it's got legendary Nissan reliability, and the trifecta is it's the 2nd most made in the USA truck after the brand new Titan. So if you want something that's truly USA, you buy a Nissan. How ironic.
      I SERIOUSLY question how they can honestly call ANY full size truck an offroad vehicle in any way. One of the major problems with a Frontier is it's VERY long wheelbase on the Pro-4x. That's deadly for an offroad vehicle and this thing is rather short by comparison to any other brand. I am of course comparing the Fronty's wheelbase to that of true offroad vehicles, Jeeps and the Xterras. You do NOT take a fullsize truck into REAL offroad situations. You just don't do it. They can't turn and negotiate tight turns, they do not have the departure and approach angles on their vehicles, and they will bottom out in the center due to the ridiculously long wheelbases.
      If you want a full size truck, by all means go for it, but don't even begin to think that it's superior to the midsizers in EVERYTHING just because it's bigger. These Frontiers/Xterras will go places that no fullsize truck could ever fit through or survive.

    I just traded my 2015 pro4x leather in. I miss it. The kids grew so had to go full size. The ergonomics of the interior was great for my 6'2" frame. The cup holders, arm rest , gear selector all perfectly positioned. The rail tie down system in the bed is the best in the industry, even today. I easily fabricated a sheet goods rack for the bed that could haul 4x8 lumber easily. The reviews criticize the stiff ride, but that's why so many trucks today sag when used as a truck to haul. I overloaded that little thing with 2000lbs of 1/2 man rock when doing landscaping around my house. It was a solid solid truck.

    It's the last of the "old school" midsize trucks.
    The new Colorado, Ranger, etc are the size of 90s full sized.
    The Pro 4x has a Dana 44 and an e-locker.
    The interior doesn't have too many electric gizmos that will cause trouble in 100k miles.
    And it comes with 16" wheels so tires are affordable.

    People NO ONE PAYS ANYWHERE NEAR $36,000 FOR A PRO 4 X FRONTIER FULLY LOADED. Nissan gives you an MSRP and is willing to DROP the price on THIS particular vehicle by a TON. They know they are a dinosaur, they know they are last place, and they are more than willing to negotiate on your terms. My cousin just picked up a Frontier Pro 4X King Cab fully loaded for $29,000 out the door. They never expect anyone to pay anywhere over $32,000 for ANY version of the Frontier. I plan to pick up one of these soon while they are still around as Nissan dealerships in my area are basically giving them away.

    I just love my 2014 pro4x crew cab with leather, navigation and moon roof. Got it for a good price, not $36k. similarly or less equipped toyo tacos would have cost thousands more! The new Colorado/canyon will cost thousands more as well. As for this being an old truck, it sure is brand new to me. If your going to cry about mileage, don't get a truck, get a car with an electric motor and have a nice day!

    I LOVED my 2018 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x. I drove it from California to Miami, FL and then had a woman rear end me 2 weeks being here, resulting in a total loss. I miss my Frontier every day.
    However, there is just ONE negative about the truck you have to live with.
    With one of the worst MPG's in the truck world, my 2018 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x averaged a whopping 14-16 MPG. Even while using cruise control on highways as much as possible and also never revving my engine too excessively. I always ensured a light foot. I spent $400 a month on gas with a 20 minute commute to work. I could actually see the gas gauge moving down as I would travel. To me, this was very disheartening. If money is of no object to you - then the Nissan Frontier is amazing to own. If you're a college student or every day average working American, you might have trouble affording this gas guzzler. It is something to truly consider when purchasing. Even with the gas issue and high monthly payment, I still can't wait to purchase this truck again. Nearing a $1,000 a month just to run this thing!
    Other than that, WHAT A GREAT TRUCK!
    P.S. - The turning radius is garbage, but I sure as hell tore it up on the off-roading trails up in the mountains every weekend!

    Wasn’t really considering this at first since I started out looking at the Ranger and Colorado (zero interest in the Taco). Now though this is my new #1.
    Was looking at a ZR2/Z71 or a Ranger Fx4 but the Pro 4X is much cheaper and with a few modifications will outperform a ZR2 for quite a bit less money. All that plus Nissan’s track record, this MOPAR guy for his first three vehicles is probably going Nissan!
    Update as of 08/24/19.
    Went with the Frontier!

    I don't need everything money can buy, this truck has most all basics of every other pickup has. If your like me and have small family and don't need a full size truck, or the price, this small pickup is not bad choice. Small is not so bad, with parking in most city and towns are so bad to find a spot, this truck much better to park. I'm not hauling cargo either. To run around town or on rare times you may throw some plywood in the back bed, its perfect for do it yourself guys. I like the old dash look.Not so bad.

    If it ain't broke don't fix it. Nissan made the right choice not changing much on this truck. It's the only "low-tech" truck on the market which makes a lot of sense. Simple wins.

    This will become like the Suzuki Samari in 10-15years, everyone will remember the good old days of simple honest trucks.
    Personally I prefer be to buy a design that has been unchanged for so Long. It means they found all the design flaws and fixed them already. The latest and greatest is only of value until the warranty ends.

    Roman should nevet do a Nissan review. He never talks good about them. The Frontier is the least expensive midsize on the market. Yet is the most reliable because everything has been worked out. If you come out with a new truck every couple of years you never get the kinks worked out.

    All this trucks needs is styling changes and a more efficient power train. There is nothing wrong with this trucks whatsoever when it comes to capabilities.

    • @WilliamStewart1
      @WilliamStewart1 7 лет назад +2

      kdu8004 You bring in a new more efficient powertrain and you now have anew Tacoma a.k.a nothing but problems. Leave the engine alone and put a 6 speed auto and it's good to go. Why ruin the reliabilty for maybe another 1-2 MPG in the real world?

    • @markbremmer8642
      @markbremmer8642 6 лет назад

  • @tonyhelton7013

    My biggest complaint about those trucks is the console armrest. It is too low and too for back to do any good. If it had a decent armrest I would buy one.

    • @tonyhelton7013
      @tonyhelton7013 9 лет назад +3

      +Tony Helton I ended up buying one anyway. I found a guy who makes aftermarket armrest cushion extenders. That fixed the issue for me. I am very happy with the truck. It was a lot less than a comparable Toyota or Chevy. I do not mind the interior, it is a truck and has a truck like interior, nothing wrong with that.

    If you want something larger get a full size. The problems with todays "compact" trucks is that they have become nearly full size which is why we started calling them midsize trucks. Some people actually like the compact truck market. I agree that we need all types of truck to keep things interesting but don't kill the compact truck market either. I sold my 3rd midsize truck because I was tired of having trouble fitting into parking spaces and the unimpressive gas mileage. Toyota used to make one hell of a compact pickup that sold quite well.

    I asked myself this question all the time where do these people get their miles per gallon information from? I myself have a 2018 Nissan Frontier with the V6 4 wheel drive 4 door and my combination fuel mileage is around 20 miles per gallon and I get on average 23.7 miles to the gallon on the highway. They're always knocking the Nissan Frontier but the last time I checked it is out selling the Ford Ranger and a Honda Ridgeline.
