You guys DO NOT know how to rock crawl…at all. Stopping at a section when you need to ‘power through’ aka send it. Not airing down your tires and allowing your tires to spin way too much due to over inflation (reg PSI). Finally, I can take a Frontier with it’s 33” tires and a 3” suspension lift and go through the same trails as a truck with 35” tires.

I've been off roading and overlanding for 15 years and I can tell you the problem wasn't the lack of front locker, it was the driver. the front locker would make an inexperienced driver accomplish more, but that vehicle was more than capable of traversing that obstacle with that spec hardware, it was solely driver. I think the possibility of panel damage to the drivers side prevented more commitment

Nissan also has a system called ABLS, it works like Toyota's ATRAC and applies brake to the spinning wheel. But unlike ATRAC there is no dedication button, it kicks in when you're in 4x4 low and turn traction control off. So this truck had the tech and these guys probably spent all day on a video but didnt' bother to spend 15 minutes reading the manual.
This channel was a joke before Tommy was on it and he's the one carrying it. His old man may compliment him but it's clear when he's not in a video everyone is clueless whenever they encounter something new.

Being ‘steady with the gas pedal’ on that section with a light bed p/u truck could’ve meant instantly bouncing off a rock, losing traction and hitting the driver’s side dirt wall. If you know that road then you know that lil’ section, it’s passable & not extremely difficult, but it does get one’s attention (enough that it’s nice to have a spotter). It’s tight, off camber and has a bunch of loose rocks. The nice triple-locked bronco & camera made it look a bit easier than it is in real life. The best shot of the sideways angle was the semi-rear shot of the Bronco when it did its approach. It’s often very deceiving how much angle there is on camera. If they had kept in the pedal they would have messed up the track for one, which is a crummy thing to do since others with capable vehicles need to be able to get up there without worrying about giant ruts made by selfish off-readers that had to keep in it, and number two if they let the tires spin, especially with the rear locker engaged, the truck would have slid into the rock wall they were trying to avoid. They clearly made the right choice if you know what you are doing, and they should given how much off-roading they do for the channel.

I've been following TFL for very long time. And l love the reviews and the insight they have when it comes to products on the market. However I have to say I feel like they are a little bias when it comes to Nissan products and they are always put them down. For instance I purchased a 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off road brand new off the lot and that truck was nothing but a headache after 2 and a half years of ownership and several trips to the dealership and several hours with Toyota I finally got rid of it and and got a 2020 Titan and I have to say by far it has been the best truck I've owned. And if I had to do go on what TFl has said I don't think I would have gotten a Nissan product.

He had to take it over that one rock, didn’t have enough room on the driver’s side to have the rock pass outboard and didn’t have enough clearance to let the rock pass underneath (which is what. Roman did on the Bronco with his 35’s). But Andre slowed down too much after clearing the rock, if h’d kept a bit more speed after he got his front wheel over he might have made it.

First he didn't picked the correct line, second he stopped at the worst point, then he didn't let the system figure out which tire was spinning on the front to allow the ABS traction control to do their magic locking the spinning wheel and force the one with traction to drive up. Now Roman with the Bronco he picked a totally different line to the far right driving over a solid ground with the twin lockers activated. Test drove one of these at the dealership 2 weeks ago. As a Tacoma owner I will say that it feels more refined in terms of handling, acceleration, and shifts gears much smoother. It's also bigger on the inside. Feels a little sluggish til you wind the engine out to over 5k rpm though. There's definitely more nvh in this than the outgoing model too so you feel more insulated from noise.
In terms of Interior 'feel'. Something about this truck doesnt feel as durable. Materials inside look more premium than a taco (and older gen frontier obviously) but don't feel as sturdy. There's this thin/delicate feeling to the interior when riding over hard bumps in this thing, like if you hit too many potholes, trim pieces will start bending or popping out of place, don't have a better way to describe it. Still a really nice riding truck, but something tells me this won't sell as well as the competitors because it's really not offering anything more in any category and being a new model will still be fairly expensive if getting the pro 4x.

Thanks for the video, guys. I was curious if Nissan improved the off road capability of the new Frontier. I'm really looking forward to your video's on the capability of the new Tundra TRD Off Road.

The TRD off-road comes with fairly comparable tires, so I think that would be a good comparison. It would be nice if Nissan, in GM, would come out something similar to ATRAC. I know jeep has something similar, brake lock differentials, and I believe Ford has a version as well.

I've been watching these guys for years and they can be the biggest bullshit artists. The narrative was set in the first couple of minutes and I knew exactly what direction this video was going in. They decided to focus on the negatives in this cases (Remember it isn't a Toyota. In that case they would have focused on the positives). They didn't bring up the Toyota Tacoma (probably its closest competitor) because it couldn't do any better in the same situation. They made sure they compared it to vehicles that have equipment the this truck doesn't have like a front locker which the Tacoma doesn't have either. Worthless video!

Also, the Frontier's low range crawl ratio is something like 54:1 and the Tacoma's is something like 36:1. I'm sure the Frontier could make it also. The point I'm trying to make is they are very selective about the information they present. Most of their reviews are far from objective. Especially when there is or could be a Toyota involved. They Toyota is alway made to look better. In this case they must have thought they couldn't make the Toyota look better so they just left the information out.

There’s one big difference. the TRD Off-road doesn’t sit at the top of the Taco lineup, the Pro-4X does. Nissan right now has the same issue as the Ranger did before the Tremor package launched (or the Colorado before the ZR2 launched).
