    This is nuts! If you're not from Milwaukee, Whitefish Bay is 2.116 miles squared. It's TINY! What are the chances they get two at once?

    This terminating pursuit garbage has GOT to stop. A vehicle in oncoming lanes is EXACTLY the situation where all officers should be PIT APPROVED and ALL METHODS OF PURSUIT ENDING SHOULD BE AUTHORIZED, NOT TERMINATED. Any oncoming traffic is now in direct path of a lethal weapon being used in a felonious attempt to flee capture, why are you TERMINATING LIGHTS AND SIREN?!?

    • @christopherreed4723
      @christopherreed4723 2 года назад +7

      Not sure if this is universal, but I've always been taught that once a vehicle is spiked you can't call off the pursuit. Reason being that you - the police - have impaired the vehicle's ability to be safely operated, and therefore now have a responsibility to warn the public about the vehicle's approach by means of emergency lights and siren.
      Short version, spiking the car and then leaving it to drive off on blown tires is legally very shaky. It won't take a 9th Circuit to find against the Department if that van slams into someone afterwards.
      Could be that Whitefish Bay's management haven't emphasized that aspect, or chose to ignore it.

    • @tgmaps
      @tgmaps 2 года назад +4

      Yeah I've never really understood that. If there is a vehicle heading right towards me in the wrong lanes i'd like to see the flashing lights coming at me as well to better raise my caution and alert me to the danger.

      Yep. Not to mention, there are literally hundreds of cases demonstrating the fallacy of that policy. Including one case in Florida where the pursuit was ordered terminated, the subject continued to drive recklessly, wrecked the vehicle, and proceeded to pull a woman out of a minivan at knifepoint, attempting to carjack her, just two miles from where the cops had stopped after terminating. If I recall correctly, there were children in the back seat as well. You see examples of this shit every single day. This politically correct bullshit policy doesn't protect anyone, but the rather exact opposite. It also encourages criminals to endanger lives, because they know it means they'll get a free pass. Literally, it rewards criminals for being reckless and lawless, and provides positive reinforcement for bad behavior. A bit like giving a child as much ice cream as they want after being suspended from school because they punched the little girl in the next seat.

    This is an extended cut of a video from just the K-9 officer's perspective that I caught earlier on another channel. Superbly trained dog...you can hear the handler yelling "NO!", apparently to redirect the dog off his initial target, who was an officer in foot pursuit, and onto the suspect. And the dog listened. That's a sign of a great K-9 team. Hope he got a good fuss from his handler when the dust settled.

    Considering that it's challenging to execute a PIT in urban areas, I wonder if any of these suburb departments have explored using those nylon strap grapples to end pursuits. Those tend to be more more difficult to use on wide open highway pursuits, but might be easier to use in cases like this where the fleeing car gets slowed up by traffic, turns and other obstacles, resulting in a closer pursuit.

    • @BLACKNIGHT8990

    Starting at 10:53, the lead cop during the second pursuit had an excellent chance to ram the rear of the van. And there was also enough room for a second cop to travel towards the right of the lead cop and the van to help box the van in.

    • @yoitsmig

      There are many agencies in CA where a PIT is on the same level as lethal force. It would be essentially the same as firing a rifle into the vehicle. This is due to the Inherant danger a PIT entails.

    It just occurred to me that they need "Enhanced" stop sticks. They need stop sticks that stick to the vehicle.....preferably that wrap around the wheels and foul the wheels of the car. That would mean that any time they could successfully deploy enhanced stop sticks they could end the pursuit.
