- Wauwatosa Police responded to a burglary at the Macy’s store in Mayfair Mall around 4:19 AM on Friday, March 29, 2024. Three suspects from Illinois were arrested with jewelry found inside the car. If you do a robbery in Wisconsin, the police will follow you for a while and make sure you’re getting home OK.
That was a pathetic waste of 18 minutes. Why bother chasing them if you don’t have the balls to do a PIT.
Let alone have a pursuit car that sounds like it is struggling to keep up with 3 perps in an SUV...
Agreed. I think they stopped doing the pit maneuver because of the potential risks to lives/property and the potential litigation which would result. We are living in an overly litigious society now, which only makes it harder for law enforcement to do their jobs effectively.

And add to the fact that the chasing officer was way outside of his jurisdiction and Milw Co Sheriffs (which should have been all over this) along with WIS State patrol who were just sitting on the side with their lights on! they should have been running ahead waiting to intercept. They easily should have gotten these bunghole POS losers (oh yeah BLM!!) in this pursuit. So many opportunities to stop them.... It was pathetic and you wonder why Milw is a "horrible city" a GREAT CITY but ran by bureaucratic leftist aholes!!!!!
Why even bother to chase? Your pathetic policies protect criminals and actually encourages them to run. In Arkansas you think twice before deciding run, because u know its balls to the walls.

@@Ottawaemergencyphotography that was a joke but....the scariest chases out there are in Milwaukee where they go all out on tiny city streets for a few minutes with butt pucker factor of 11 on scale of 10 and then after 5 minutes or so they are mandated to quit the chase.....those are stupid dangerous...or the non chase chases in LA where the perp speeds and then CHP goes into tracking mode and perp dumps car in downtown LA parking garage and gets away...ASP are over the top way too aggressive...watching 130MPH PIT and perp getting killed.......I enjoy a nice chase like the next guy but there is a fine line between CHP and ASP where idiots get caught and public is safe from police actions and idiots in stolen Kias running and wrecking
When your city decides to Cheap-out on the cops moving office and the office they get lacks power, then about the only thing you can catch, is a cold.
There’s no way ASP would given that person that much of a lead. The chase would have been over in about ten minutes with that clown probably going airborne or rolling like a ball.

What a waste of community resources. If you're going to chase someone to catch them you cannot match their speed, and you certainly cannot do it from 100 to 200 yards away! These officers need to be trained by Arkansas State Troopers on proper vehicle pursuit techniques!
Where are the State Troopers? Where are the County cops? The SUV cop cars are no match for 50% of the cars on the roads today.
They defunded the police, remember? There aren't nearly enough LEOs in the blue states these days. Most of WI only have 1-2 state troopers to cover an entire county. You can't expect them to show up like flies on honey like they do in AR.

This policeman is a bad driver. He was too far back. Lost the suspects twice. You don’t want to get too close or you risk losing them on a turn. But you don't want to be so far back, you lose sight. Terrible.

Since the 1st unit is so far behind usually the second unit calls the chase since you want the the pursuing office hands on the wheel but shit I bet the second vehicle was a mile back. Prolonging this pursuit was the dangerous part. They needed the Bird, if you know you know

Sure u have to radio the road conditions, speed and traffic, but not every 5 seconds. Call out your location and the description of the vehicle and focus on driving.

It's probably the engine. Since the pursuing department is a city agency, their department isn't going to opt for a V8 or in the case of the Ford Explorer, the Ecoboost V6

First of all, the cop don’t know the difference between silver and gray. That’s gray. You learn that in kindergarten but he completed police training. The highest speed I heard this cop mention was “speeds 114” brother. Your Ford Explorer maxes at 148mph. And I heard a lot of throttle feathering. Just pin the throttle to the floor till you get up on him. The cop never got closer than 8 bus lengths from the guy. If he would’ve got on him instead of being a scared little.. he wouldn’t have gotten away. Shake my head.
They had half the department at Macy's, but instead of picking up the rest during the chase, they just fell away. 🤦♂
That police car is in fact, capable of catching the Kia. They just don’t want to. If you do a pit and the driver flies out the window, you could go to prison for the rest of your life. Why would you do that? Just follow him for a while then go have a nice donut.

@@honda443 I saw that. Ignorant move by Fiat, but what else would you expect. Curious to see if they move to the Tahoe or a Durango. Both can be pretty fast, but they aren't a Charger. I don't think Dodge can sustain such a stupid decision, nobody is buying EV's or hybrids. Especially police!!

No law enforcement helicopters. Wisconsin State Patrol does have air planes but those are for tracking speeders and search & rescue.

The police cruiser are just cruising. Either the don't have enough motor or the pursuit tactics don't allow them to get within a half mile. End the chase or put more effort into it. The longer going back and forth only endangers the public. In my opinion.

There is absolutely no way a police administration can justify putting their citizens and their businesses at risk like that to save a buck. The chief apparently does not train his officers, or allow then to PIT, yet expects his officers to protect local businesses in some of the slowest POS police cars he could find. Looked like he was in a Chevrolet Lumina with a top speed of about 109 (if you are going downhill). To get totally out run by an SUV is disgusting. The Administration is clueless that it needlessly prolongs the chase and places both the officers and the citizens at a much higher risk of death or serious injuries. When you force your officers into an underpowered car in a situation like that, it promotes you to push the car beyond it's design which only add to the risk of crashing just to try and keep up.
If you live in that city, I'd strongly pressure the Chief or the City Council to change their polices and equipment to protect the citizens better. The alternative it the Democratic way of thinking and be soft on crime by banning the pursuits and simply allow anyone who want to, to break into whatever stores you want and take whatever, because the officers are limited to just sitting there a letting them drive off with your sh!t. What would be your next "policy," to require the business owners to leave their business doors unlocked at night because the burglar may cut his finger on the broken glass while they break in?
They should learn from agencies like Arkansas State, Georgia State, Florida, and many others. If you watch their methods, they get the bad guy stopped fairly quickly in most cases. Thats the difference between a Chief or Administration who wants to do the job the taxpayers pay them to do and the Chief who would rather sit in their cushy office leaching off your tax dollars while he couldn't give a rat's a$$ about protecting the public's lives and property.
I mean I agree but those states are southern mostly republican states Milwaukee county is a democratic area which who is voted in therefore these policies will continue to take place. the police chiefs have barely any say in wether or not their officers can pursue or pit because it’s been voted upon and has become a policy although I think they could do a better job of standing up for there officers. it seems it’s more of a punishment for damaging a patrol car then letting a suspect get away
As a lifelong WI resident I couldn't agree more. And damn, it's embarrassing. Law enforcement wants to, and can do the job, but the powers that be won't let that happen through policies. You'd almost wonder if the DNR runs sentencing with all the catch-and-release going on, but most know the WI DNR is nearer to God and doesn't screw around that way. You've got more of a chance of meaningful punishment tangling with a warden than an LEO. Sad.
@evad1 you are welcome to join us in Texas. Sad to say, we have a revolving door policy on crime here too, but I don't think that it's as bad as many states. Even though the judges let some out too early, they get most of them pretty close to what the crime deserves. The good thing is that the police are pro catching them and get most of them when they commit to crime. And when you do commit the crime, be sure you don't kill anyone because Texas will explain it in a way that gets the point across... the point of the needle.

I think a lot of city cops are limited what they are allowed to do, I don’t know about this city. Sounds like he got the license plate and they wanted to do spikes but the guy kept changing directions. Cops are just as aggravated as the viewers, more so I imagine.

Wisconsin patrol cars don't even have the power to catch a mini van or the officers are scared to catch & scratch their units pitting the subject & the guy over purchasing needs to be fired if he can't buy patrol units with some speed. Call Arkansas, they will tell you what you need & maybe send a couple of troopers to show the Wisconsin boys how to end a pursuit! The Wisconsin officers were definitely afraid to catch up & scratch their patrol units, bet they said to their selves lets see how long we can chase them till they run out of gas or wreck!!!
