As someone who moved to St. Louis after Katrina in 2006, I decided to try the local specialties - toasted raviioli and St. Louis style pizza. What I found with both is it *really* *really* depends on where you get it. With toasted ravs in St. Louis, 95% of the places that serve it buy the frozen mass produced junk. So it's very likely people who try toasted ravioli for the first time end up trying the frozen stuff which is not going to impress anyone. But when you find the places that make their own raviolis fresh, it's another world and REALLY good. My personal favorite place is Angelo's Taverna downtown. But that's more to do that it's a block from my office more than anything. But theirs are really good and COMPLETELY different than the frozen stuff.
Foods/beverages He's taste tested so far tostadas, tacos, chimichangas, nachos, bottled water : the French said it was okay, cinnabons, hot pockets, McDonald's, and finally toasted ravioli
"Don't worry about me." I was raised by a wonderful, little, sweet Irish-Catholic mom who never had to discipline me. All she ever had to do was say she loved me and tell me that I don't need to worry about her. How could I do anything bad with that hanging over me? A thousand beatings couldn't come close to the guilt she could whip out of that one tear in the corner of her eye. Yes, Jim. I am subscribed and also have the notification bell clicked. And for those who want to go to Heaven? You'd best do the same.
Never seen anyone cutting their T-Ravs Jim. 1 of St. Louis' specialties is those little beauties. Everyone likes to eat them a lil differently. Glad you gotta taste of STL!
Be sure to pick up a Haas Gooey Butter Coffee Cake (from most any grocery store here). It is the original one and a great breakfast. Eat your toasted ravioli as soon as they are made, because they are hockey pucks once cold.
Us St. Louis folks know how to take an already delicate dish of ravioli and elevate it to a whole new level. T-ravs will always hold a special place in my heart because no plain ravioli will ever stand up to it.
my husband loves ravioli, I never heard of toasted however. wow. I was raised on frozen Lucas spinach ravioli and they had little tubs of the best sauce to go with it. I was very sad when the company (which was in San Francisco for almost 100 years) closed. Its one of my best childhood memories of family dinners. Mom made a huge tossed green salad with avocados, tomatoes, green onions, garbanzo beans or kidney beans, and sourdough french bread. A wonderful dinner. (replace ravioli with moms homemade spaghetti sauce and noodles another great meal.) i love the idea of a food channel, how fun! lets do it👍
Whenever I'm channel surfing i always get hung up on food shows. Jim Eats The World, with his sense of humor, is such a great twist, i found myself bingeing on all of the segments of eating he presents. It's got to be difficult not to offend any of the restaurant providing the samples.
I love you doing this !!!! I would love to see more.. I’m such a longtime fan of yours and knowing your passion for food on top of your incredible comedic talent.. this may be your next successful endeavor 😊😘😊😘🤩🤩
I appreciate your desire to share your food experiences. I have never had toasted or fried ravioli so I was interested in your take on this food. It looks good and I hope to try it soon. In CT, in this area, no one offers it but they do in neighboring Rhode Island. I like the idea of dipping it in a sauce. I think I would prefer a 'one bite' size, however. Although I know stuffing one whole into your mouth may not look so good on camera, with sauce and meat falling out as your chew it, cheeks stuffed and the assistant scrambling to get you extra napkins before you wreck the shoot. lol
The one he chose, the first one, was definitely a lot plumper (more inside) than the others from what I could tell...a lot more filling..Good choice Jim.
I like my toasted ravs without the sauce. Toasted ravs with a good salad like Zia's and dinner is done. They are called toasted for that is how the bread coating is after frying. Someone I know in West Virginia told the owners of a new pizza place he would bet them he could guess where they are from and his prize would be he get his pizza for free. The owner took him up on it. He guessed St Louis as was correct. They asked how he knew and he said the toasted ravioli on the menu.
I NEEEEED a buddy food comedy with Jim and Andrew Zimmern. Not a documentary series although also that, but like a buddy comedy where they take on Guy Fieri and Alton Brown.
Jim makes me want to cook. The last Dinner With the Gaffigan has made me VERY interested in revising my usual meat sauce. And, spinach with spaghetti is new to me and sounds delicious. #CookingWithTheGaffigans
St. Louis loves you, Jim!!!! 💙Thanks for visiting and trying our local cuisine! 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕 Dont miss our thin crust pizza, or our gooey butter cake (Park Ave. Coffee).
Gooey butter cake has been done to death, it's been at too many work parties, family gatherings, block parties and tinkered with by every professional and would be Baker here.
I miss home, had to move to San Antonio which sucks....miss toasted raviolis!!!! You don't get them to go,that's why they are chewy and you can't reheat them....lol...you have to eat them there. I miss all STL food and the Blues and the Cardinals and the Zoo and Grant's farm.....
I can tell from the description that I would also choose Trattoria as my fave because it looked more like ravioli & i love ravioli. Looked like better texture - Not so hard. I'm hungry now! 😋 Would love to see Jim do a review of the local pizza or the best chile rejeno (mexican) here next time you come to Evansville, IN ☺
Thanks for showcasing great eats from our awesome town. I have never been to Trattoria Marcella, but I got to go there now just to try the toasted ravs. The Hill is awesome!
Hey Jim! Those all look tasty! Years ago I used to eat fried pasta at a bistro in Baton Rouge LA called Roma Deli. My fav was the “Manicotti Friti” stuffed with ricotta, top off with Parmesan cheese, with a side of delicious marinara for dunking. It was killer!😜
Since I am in NY, I think I will check to see if there is a way to order from these restaurants and have the raviolis delivered in the mail (2 day shipping maybe)
I’m from St. Louis and currently am living in Japan. My mouth watered through the entirety of this. I love you Jim.
As a St. Louisan, I feel blessed that we got 2 videos worth of this

Agree….the Lombardo family has the best ravioli in STL.
Now I have to travel to St. Louis! Thanks Jim.
I love this concept. If anyone is qualified to do food reviews, it's Jim.
Foods/beverages He's taste tested so far tostadas, tacos, chimichangas, nachos, bottled water : the French said it was okay, cinnabons, hot pockets, McDonald's, and finally toasted ravioli
Except for seafood.
@@Mary_O what are we barbarians keeping the heads on? Don't be surprised if a little tear comes out, You can tell yourself it's butter
I suppose it was only a matter a time before Jim resorted to live stream himself eating.
😂😂😂
He's going to get himself a bean bag that looks like a cinnabon he'll sit in that while he's eating ..............wait for it
cinnabons
Cheap shot, but worth it.
😁😀😁😀
He may be on the verge of going full-on mukbang.
2:49 "it smells like sauce and something deep fried" the detail ...remarkable...as if i can taste it myself ;-D
Finding comfort with a good friend. Food and conversation. Thanks Jim. Now, for dessert!
Saint Louis dude. I can confirm these are as good as they look. You can see the joy when Jim nom nom nom nom nom...The hype is real!
What a FANTASTIC idea, Jim! Can't get enough of you!!!! 🤣
One of my favorite things to do when traveling is to try different "Mom & Pop" places in each town I visit. Made me hungry just watching!

"Dinner with the Gaffigans - Dinner with the Gaffigans". That jingle played in my head all night last night. Thanks Jim. Always great.
I love it! The dinner with the family is great too...your oldest is such a sweetheart
You had me at "ravioli."
How did I never hear of these before? Brilliant idea❣👍😋
It makes me happy too. Not much better than watching someone eat good food and thoroughly enjoy it. Thanks Jim

Just loved this..It all looks delish.. Thanks for your time😂👍♥️
Darn, now I have to go to St Louis

Come on down the food is wonderful. Get a square piece of Imo's Pizza and a pint of Ted Drew's chocolate frozen custard
Wait, this is going to be a reoccurring thing??? 😀😀 I'm all in, good stuff!
Omg, he's going to finish them all before giving us the verdict. (In that little inner voice)
He should have
You’re my favorite comedian. Looking forward to new episodes of this series.

Jim eating food?! What marketing genius devised this brilliant idea? Oh it was one of its kids? That makes sense.

All looked great! Making me hungry...
FYI frying itself doesn’t make it unhealthy, depends on what it’s fried in.
I just adore you!!! You kill me in a good way. 😂🤣😘❤️
YOU ARE SO LUCKY TO BE EATING SUCH GOODNESS !
Ravioli....TOASTED?!!! Yum!!!
it's the bomb 😁😁
This is awesome!! Gaffigan you rule!! Please be careful , remember you only have 1 Appendix leftover ✌️
I feel like I can really trust Jim on this. Though I should probably try them myself.

Or cinnabons. He couldn't care about bottled water the French said it was okay
