Growing up in Parma, a Cleveland suburb renowned for its Polish population, pierogi were served with school lunches several times a week. Also kielbasa, and fish every single Friday of the school year.

I was watching a different JG clip and had to pause it. I now have a bowl of crispy bacon, cheese & onion pierogies, dusted with fresh, cracked, organic, smoked pepper & sea salt, on my lap. Yummy!

I’m from Poland, live in Poland and I’ve never heard of or had a polish boy sandwich. It should be more popular in here. To some it’s maybe too much but like when i’m really hungry - this is the abstraction food my brain is coming up with. Sending lots of love from Poland. Jim you’re hilarious!
Polish here too, no connection really. It's an american invention with very american style kielbasa in the sandwich. It's nothing like authentic kabanos or krakowska sausage you find back home. In nyc now you can find some authentic sausage over in green point.
They are just called Boy Sandwich over there. Lol! J/k

I'm so hungry now. I am German and have made homemade perogi with my mom since I was 6, 31 years ago. I've gone fancy with them from time to time. My fave are potato, smoked aged cheddar, goat cheese, caramelized onion and roasted garlic.
My Church Ladies make the best pierogi! I'm from Cleveland but hadn't been back home for many many years, and visited the University Inn restaurant (oldest in Cleveland). I love their pierogi (and my Church ladies make some just as good or better)... I met the owner and he waxed poetic about how good home made pierogi is. He had no doubts how good my Church Ladies' Pierogi are. Loved that restaurant. Found out later the Greek Orthodox behind the restaurant was where my grandparents were married. Loved this video.

The Polish Boy is bender food -it is irresistible to single males who have been drinking since noon the day before and have not eaten a thing. The way you eat it is to open one short end of the wrapper, fold it back, then with one hand around the center and the other hand pushing the back end you extrude it into your mouth. If it won't slide it wasn't greasy enough.
That last PB was a 'foodie' imposter. The true wonder of the PB does not come from quality ingredients, it comes from the serotonin flood you get from the first thing you have ingested in 36 hours that does not directly attack brain cells. The Cleveland Clinic had to develop a special stomach pump that wouldn't get clogged by kielbasa chunks.
Perogies are married with children food -a wife can make them twice a year, have the children help, and it will communicate love long after sex has gone.

Every time you hear "OMG! this is the best thing I have ever eaten!" ask the guy how long he has been drinking and when he ate last. You will get nothing but "All day" and "I don't know".

I love pierogies but haven't eaten them in a while. My grandmother used to make them by hand and she's no longer with us. Miss her a lot. :(
Kielbasa looks delicious. Would like to know if Jim has tried the Dominican 🇩🇴 Cake (from Dominican Republic) I know Jim will love it. All fresh gradients are the key and the baker"s e perience of course. Made with real eggs fresh milk pure Dominican vanilla. flour white sugar etc etc although we have bakeries in New York most are home made
Once you have a Dominican cake you can't go back. A real treat. Pound can sell starting $25 a Lbs.

Grew up on perogies. My mom used to make cottage cheese. Delicious. Need fried onions, bacon bits, sour creme and melted butter. ❤️🇨🇦
My mom made potato and cottage cheese perogies that were good, especially fried. My favourite were her sauerkraut perogies, she only made those at Christmas.

I'm from Cleveland and that's EXACTLY how we eat them. Some people wrap everything in the wax paper so it doesn't spill, and we ridicule them by throwing the fries and slaw chunks that spill off our unwrapped Polish Boys at them.

Jim Gaffigan....just in case you haven't noticed....is brilliant! His material is based completely/ regionally/ geographically! He's a mastermind...there's this internet thingy nowadays where he can research local trends, foods, weird names and traditions months before he arrives! Hence....the locals feel a kinship with him because he's not local yet he knows local banter and traditions. Setting an immediate personal bond. He's a wise man....

Despite watching Jim's attempts to eat I am still hungry for something that I can't get for ~1000 miles.
My dad use to make home made pierogies, sooo good.My mom would make "mock pierogies,just as delicious. When my cousin was a small child she couldn't pronounce "mock pierogies", she called them "mock-u-doggies. And in our family that's what we still call them...mock-u-doggies

The Polish Boy was first produced in Black BBQ restaurants on the East side of Cleveland back in the 50's, maybe earlier. Hot Sauce Williams, Whitmore's and B&M all claim to have made the first one, but that's up to debate.
