Gotta be the worst refurbishment I’ve seen so far. 1/10. Gotta be better for $400. Smh
**does my caption at the beginning say rerurbished 😬 yikes
What makes this funny is the fact DKO had a post up on RUclips about getting quality clean, consoles from them. But then this video popped up in my feed.😂 what are they doing over there?
And honestly, the price isn’t even the worst part. It’s just the fact that they are calling consoles “cleaned and refurbished” when they clearly aren’t doing either of those. Just disappointing
Can you buy a Xbox 360 slim I’m thinking about buying one
@@jrob0021 exactly bro there are less on so many sites and in irl like i got for free just i mean i have no word
Did you get your money back even though you voided you warranty
$400 for this quality of PS3 is criminal. That amount of dirt genuinely shocked me.
Right there with you. When he simply took off that shiny cover and exposed the inner case, that was enough for me to know they didn’t do anything. There would have at least been fingerprints to show they’d been in there! There’s no way you can touch something that dirty and there’s not be evidence in the dirt!
Same this website is a goddamn scam you could’ve gotten a ps3 for half the price on eBay and I bet it would’ve been In way better condition then whatever the hell this ps3 was
There were clumps of dust on the fan, $400 💀
maybe a brand new, unopened ps3 was worth 400$
PS3 I can buy them all day for $50-$75. $400 I could get a PS3 and like 200 games for that price
The fact that they put their own warranty sticker is CRAZY lol
And illegal. Only the offical companies are authorized by law to do so.
@@POPCULTURETUBEX it's not illegal but it's definitely not enforceable even by Sony.

How they haven't been hit with a lawsuit yet is amazing to me. They're basically lying to their customers and stealing money for services not rendered.
This looks like the sort of thing I'd get from a Goodwill for $75 not $400
My friend gifted me a used one and it was way better 🤣
I did, it was 120 after shipping, less everything but the console. Worked good, opened up for a quick clean and was nowhere near as bad. Do want ro replace the thermal soon though.
I got a broken one I repaired for $25
@aux I also got a PS2 for less than 100 with GTA 3
I got a pristine PS3 slim at goodwill for 50 bucks a year ago. Best $50 ever spent
The only reason they are still in business at this point is because of their youtube channel and tiktok
True
It’s as if their clientele that they do have is people with tons of disposable income that I guess don’t care much about price and quality. People making 7 figures annually show up after winning big at the casino that week or just haven’t bought every video game imaginable to set up their ManCave yet and just come in and drop like 40k and get 5 games and a dusty ps3 lol
And that they have been around for over 20 years
and just for that I'm throwing in a fReE donkey kOnG keychAin
Ps2 is worth 50-100 at most not 400 bucks come on😂
Giving the entire 3rd party repair industry a bad name. "Embarrassed" doesn't even begin to describe how they should feel about this.
Especially because fake DualShock 3 controllers that are functionally identical and feel oem are like $8 a controller on Ali express. I have used them before and it worked fine for over a year.
The ones they look like that are shockingly cheap. If they buy in bulk that controller probably cost less than $5
This guy embarrassed himself for paying $400 for a ps3
$400?! I bought a white fat ps3 from Japan and it was great condition with the original controller. It was $160 and shipping was free. Wow
That’s a steal I bought a Sega Saturn bundle from Japan for only $60 worked perfectly
Japanese take good care of their electronics.
@@billyc2493 not completely true but they do take a lot of pride in their businesses so they make sure they’re selling good products. I’ve seen some real beat up japanese consoles that weren’t for sale lol
I imagine it came with the original box too? Way more common to see stuff come with the original box when it's sold from Japan.
@@billyc2493 Indeed. US eBay "Good" condition often is actually "Acceptable" while Japanese marketplace "Good" condition is "Like New". Prices are also generally way lower.

amen, and thankfully i know who to stay away from forever. screw that guy. fr
The worst part is they do a great job at marketing on YT. So people are gonna get scammed 😭
Not enough people are using the word "scam" for them and they should be. You can't sell something in this filthy state as cleaned and refurbished, regardless of the price
They can’t even put a warranty sticker like that. They can’t tell you you can’t open it. Lol
@@Dante199006 Warranty stickers have been deemed illegal a long time ago. Companies still do it because people don't know the law and it works lol
Only thing they cleaned was the money from you're wallet. That was disgusting
And the only thing they "refurbed" was his sphincter .

*your
I've refurbished and resold a few on eBay. I usually pay around $90-$110 for one in that condition then sell it on afterwards for around $220-$250. Refurbished means a complete teardown/rebuild and it only takes me a couple hours work to:
- Strip down and rebuild the PSU/fan/Blu-ray (cleaned & re-greased) whilst the heat sinks and case parts go in the bath! The rest (fan/card reader/HDD) only needs a wipe/air-clean.
- Brush/Isoprop clean the motherboard
- De-lid CPU/GPU, clean and apply some MX5
- Polish up the case
= minty fresh!
In my book a CECHA/B/C/D or E that hasn't been de-lidded hasn't actually been refurbished, the thermals on that dye will be 17 years old and such a system will only last a matter of weeks with regular use before RLOD kicks in. The de-lidding of these systems is vital, they're dying in droves now and a simple clean just won't do. The thermal paste underneath the heat spreader of every single one I've de-lidded to date has turned to powder, with the dye being basically naked and receiving no cooling.
I've been refurbishing older consoles as a hobby for almost a year now and selling or trading them locally. I can't believe that PS3 worked as well as it did in that condition.
Do you make a decent profit on that? Seems like it could be a fun little side gig.
@@VaporeonEnjoyer1 For the amount of time I put into refurbishing them, no. I do it as a hobby and I do make a modest profit. The cool thing is that I'm meeting people that want to do trades. Just recently I traded a PS2 Fat with hook up cords for a working SNES with hook ups and a controller. 12 games, and an easily fixable PS2 slim. And then I traded the Slim for an Xbox 360 Slim.
@@VaporeonEnjoyer1 And I sold the SNES and 2 games for $120.
Electronics have the amazing ability to work until they are disturbed. The console probably would have died very shortly if her put it back together exactly how it came.
Back in the day, the 3rd party controller was affectionately called the "Guest Controller" in my house
I love how they put their own warranty sticker on everything even though they have ZERO legal ground to stand on to enforce it.
Weirdly enough if DKoldies offers third party warranty they can do that. I am not saying I trust they would hold up their 90 day guarantee but they do offer it so technically they can put a sticker to have some kind of check to see if someone opened the system and messed with something. It would be nice if they actually opened up the system and cleaned it but I guess that is asking too much.(also what they offer is technically not a warranty it is more of a money back guarantee but they avertise it as a warranty)
@@mat99rich even then the sticker doesn’t mean anything. The magnuson moss warranty act protects the buyer
@@phenry5083 He lays out what the warrantee covers and the conditions of said warrantee on the website. Technically he is in the clear on that. What I was saying is the Sticker acts as a check for tampering, which is perfectly legal. A company can refuse to uphold a warrantee if they feel the device is tampered with in any way. (which is outlined in section 2304 subsection C which a tamper proof sticker is the way that section can be inforced) That is the whole point of why companies add those tamper-proof stickers on devices. He might not sell what I would consider refurbished devices but he does at least have a rebust third-party warrantee even if it is for store credit and not for a replacement device. The only thing that would get DKoldies on this was the fact the device was already in a poor state when the consumer purchased the device and since Jacob R. has video proof of opening the package and then opening the console it is reasonable to assume he was not the one that neglected the device. So if DKoldie tried to refuse their warrentee because of lack of maintenance (which is outlined in 2304 subsection B) Jacob R has proof he received the item in subpar condition.(which is outlined in 2304 subsection A) and all of those references are with the amendments to the warrentees act that were added with the Magnuson moss warrentees act.
That’s not true they can enforce their own warranty considering they refurbished it….

As long as casuals exist and do no research, DKoldies will not be affected sadly.

This will not affect their sales at all. The people who buy stuff from DKoldies don't watch channels like this

I bought a backwards compatible PS3 at a pawn shop for literally $15 bucks back in 2019. It didn't come with any controllers or cables, so they had no way of testing it, so I took the gamble and it worked perfectly. I also picked up an official Dualshock 3 for $15 bucks on sale at Walmart that same day. For $30 bucks I had a better, quieter, and cleaner system than this...

400 bucks for a 7th generation console delivered with a 3rd party controller and in that state? God-level scammers.
The price and condition for this is shocking. My local retro game store, legit cleans everything inside and out. Even cleans up cases for games and wraps them all in protective wrap when on the floor to sell. Plus if there is ever an issue they will fix it. Service this expensive and poor is embarrassing.
This is crazy. I got a fat PS3 for half of the cost of what you paid on DKOldies on eBay, and it’s a night and day difference. The seller mentioned he thoroughly got the dust out, and that the only issue was the disc drive not being able to eject immediately after rebooting. Keep up the exposees though, this company will get its fair share this year, I feel it.
The seller I bought mine from also messaged me ahead of time that the console was cleaned and he even replaced the disc drive and I payed $180 less than half of what dkoldies is charging
He coulda bought a ps5 for that price
It’s these sort of shady business practices that mess up the retro gaming economy in the long run for enthusiasts. "Why would they even put a warranty sticker on a console they haven't opened up?"
Because they don't want people to open them up and find out that it was never opened up.

Here's the thing: If I ever WERE to part with any of my consoles, I would try my best to open it up and clean it, whether it be recapping, cleaning out the dust, or replacing any parts, ESPECIALLY if I were to sell something for close to this kind of price. DKOldies pricing is absolutely RIDICULOUS. I want to apologize to the pricing at my local retro shop, because while some prices are...questionable, they're a LOT more fair than DKOldies. CECHE01 80GB model excludes the PlayStation 2 "Emotion Engine" CPU chip with it being replaced by an emulated version via the Cell Broadband Engine. However, it retains the "Graphics Synthesizer" GPU resulting in a hybrid hardware and software emulation.

Pretty sure it’s false advertising to show a SixAxis/DualShock and then give you a 3rd party
In terms of Ps3 Controller, I had this almost exact same thing happened to me, where I brought ps3 from reseller website and I got not an OEM controller (only noticed it when I got home, i paid ~45$ for whole thing).
The reason you can't play some ps2 and ps3 games is due to the fact that non-OEM controller lack certain Dualshock 2 and 3 features (like sixaxis and most importantly, sensitive pressure buttons). This will break a lot, if not most of PS3 library, For example,it might break certain features of the game like it breaks yakuza 5 driving minigame or it might break whole game like MGS HD collection or GTA 5 just wont respond at all.
Nowadays , it's extremely difficult (atleast here in europe) to find a working ps3 controller. I bought 3 used controllers and 2 of them developed random button pressing issues due to foam connecting the controller board getting old and needing replacement (I tried fixing one of them myself but the freaking controllers built in such a way that putting them back together is a nightmare) I managed to get 1 that works but the best part is 1 OEM controller can run anywhere from 40 to 60$ and again, good luck getting one without that fault.
That's why in my opinion, the biggest scam here is not an OEM controller (and obviously the price) TBH it pisses me off when people try to sell it without OEM because it might as well be nothing. Throw it straight into the trash
Received my twentieth OEM controller couple days ago. Paid less than 5€ each. Some of them have had the issue you described but it was easy to "repair" them. Guess I was very lucky. 😁
There are like 3 diferent builds of controller, I had to see 3 videos to find my controller build.

That is absolutely disgusting customer service, an absolute con from DKoldies, You need to give us an update on this in the future.
The least they could have done was spray it with a can of air. The fact that they didn't do that yet still call it cleaned and refurbished is shocking. All they did was buy a console for less than $200 then sell it for double that
Tip for anyone who has a BC PS3 with 3rd party controllers.
To use 3rd party controllers in PS2 mode, you need to rapidly press the PS button on the controller as you're plugging it in. It may not work first try, so you need to keep doing it until it works.
To add insult to injury, that third party controller can’t navigate any menus to start up the PS3 if you ever needed to reinstall the OS.
Somebody probably sold this ps3 to them for 40 bucks and they immediatly listed it, slapped a dk oldies sticker on it and call it "refurbished" garbage scam company
Don't these companies know what plastic polish is? That would have made that PS look so much better from the outside. Disappointing.

I wish Sony and Microsoft had a department dedicated to legacy consoles, as a collector I honestly hate buying things from other people.
Fingers crossed.
Meanwhile I bought one off FB marketplace and the guy didn't even remove the plastic. Cosmetic wise like new, it was crazy
That amount of dust almost looks like it's intentional. Somebody had to dump dirt in it or mainly played it outside during a dust storm.
Assuming someone came up to me with a PS3 in _this_ condition and told me "Qwerty, clean this console".
-I'd strip the whole console apart. The hard drive, power supply, and optical drive get set to the side. The motherboard gets its CR2032 removed.
-Everything else (including the motherboard) gets a large quantity of dish soap poured on. I'll then scrub the soap around, and then rinse the part off with water (either the hose, or in the utility sink. Depends on the weather). The motherboard is first and gets the MOST amount of scrubbing.
-Everything gets set out to dry. Afterwards everything gets tested and put back together.
The optical drive, hard drive, and power supply get treated specially.
I've done this to a dog piss soaked Dell Dimension 2400, a vhs player (it doesn't record), falcon and zyphr xbox 360, socket 775 motherboard, and various other things. This worked great for ALL of them.
Except the dish tv box. That thing I was impatient with and didn't let fully dry...
Even in brand new condition why would a PS3 cost this much
I can only pray they go out of business before they manage to shift the market up to these shitty prices
400 for that type of quality is insane. That company should be shut down asap.
It's easy to say that it's never been opened. I work in recycling, and I've seen vintage 90's PCs kept in better condition.

Bruh they are selling nes's for 200 now wtf
I can't even look at that without an extreme urge to clean it myself. Let alone take it back. But probably should. But at the same time, I'd trust you to save that console more than where it came from.

I really wanted my ps2 games to look better on my 65”. Which was absolute potatoes to start with. Ended up getting a $20 dollar ps2 to hdmi converter and a $100 “mclassic” cable. It has made every game look exactly like I remember.
I highly recommend this method ^^^ if you’re trying the same. The combo was $130 I’d say with tax compared to the $400 they were offering here, which was actually on sale from the original $600 price
I still have my PS2 Slim, but I play so many PS2 imports that I do not want to go thru the hassle of swapping discs, or using USB 1.1 to run PS2 games form an external hard drive. Plus I have a ton of PS1 games which I use the PSXLAUNCHER.ELF to run.
Be sure to take advantage of their customer service.
They got great customer service. I'm sure he could get a refund or replacement
@@Ramble1234 Still kinda shocking they sold a console in that condition especially after making a video saying they would check everything over to assure high quality.
The console inside was legitimately disgusting I've found better PS3s at flea markets lol.
@@Ramble1234 Joey being a smiling merchant and throwing in keychains is not great customer service. Great customer service is properly cleaning the console in the 1st place and not disrespecting the customer.
Everyone's shocked about the state of the PS3... meanwhile, I'm shocked this man has never played Symphony of the Night.
you can get any controller there and the console wasn’t that dirty man the only bad thing is if it’s actually 400 dollars for the bundle
I love the dk oldies videos you do man
Joey is that you?
For real tho their videos are entertaining, but that doesn’t make up for their dogshit business practices.
Ok this is out of hand at this point. How is the company not in legal trouble at this point?
refurbished 😂
I'm amazed the console even works with that much dust inside.
I don't think they quite know what "refurbishing" means.
That'd require opening, disassembly, deep cleaning EVERYTHING, checking components on the board and fix/replace if necessary (like bloated capacitors or HDMI ports), checking the fan and replace it if necessary and definitely renew the thermal paste.
Then, and only then, can you justify a higher price. But what they are doing here is borderline fraud.
You actually bought $400 worth of dirt. The PS3 was just a bonus
i am sure it has been said before.........my first thought was "why not buy all 3 systems from your local game store for 300? maybe even less on a good day"
That thing has never been cleaned ever.
That anti-piracy measure Alston extends to PS3 games utilizing SixAxis motion controls that were pretty much exclusive to PS3 wireless controllers, so if you tried to play something like Twisted Metal 2012 without an official PS3 controller you were pretty much screwed out of some moves that required SixAxis motion controls to implement. So you had the pony up the dough for an official controller to play your PS3 games properly in some cases.
man 500$ for a used "good" condition ps3 is a crime, i can get a digital ps5 for that
I gotta say that, cooling is doing what its supposed to do if the air coming out is hot.
In my country you can get ps 3 for $100-150 and it's brand new
