One small clarification about Bactrians being "larger":
Bactrians are indeed generally heavier, but they are actually shorter than the dromedary. The weight is the relevant bit when it comes to heat/cold resistance, but I didn't want to confuse anyone about the size aspect.
Ok
I love you
Bactrian is the thicc one. Got it.
I don't think it would have confused anyone. You've just explained it in a handful of words after all ...

The funny thing is, the real reason why there's only 1000 purely wild camels out there, is that most of the Camels that were released back in the wild when they became obsolete just...kept hanging around humans and their settlements. So they're not considered wild but they don't belong to a human party either. Most of them still get fed by humans once in a while which is all they need with their fat reserves. They can survive in the wild...but why bother when humans will feed them even when they don't do anything for humans?
I wasn't expecting Feral Camels as a possibility..
@@DeerBonesBaby Yeah there's over a million of them in Australia alone.
Camels are sort of like pigeons in that regard. We used pigeons for communication for centuries and then just stopped now pigeons don't know what to do with themselves and hang around humans cause it's easy food and whatever else they need.
@@ociee117we feed them, we make cliffs for them, and look at what we receive in return! I'm back in the Anti-Bird Party!

For being feral they are surprisingly chill. The pigeon comparison is pretty good. Like, unlike a dingo, a feral camel might eat an Australian's garden but not an Australian's baby.

5:28 just a minor correction. The middle eastern Dromedary Camel was domesticated around 900 BC. However the central asian Bactrian Camel was domesticated by humans between 4000 BC and 2000 BC. Likely by the BMAC civilization.
Aight, I think I found the Bronze Age crew here. With horses it was more about pulling the chariots. the chariots being used as a mobile archer platform. So speed is important, but also a clumsy camel could maybe block the shot, or just make a whole mess of the thing.

I appreciate the use of the Gobi’s Valley theme from Banjo-Kazooie, that is the most appropriate song to play when talking about camels.

Lmao the ending. Llamas are the reason why people think Camels can spit. An easy mistake to make considering they are related and few people have contact with either of them.
When I was a kid me and a friend of mine's families were hanging out at another family friend's house. Their neighbor had llamas. One came right up to the fence, and my friend's little sister went over to try and pet it. It spit directly into her face. Pretty horrible in retrospect, but since we were kids, at the time everyone except her thought this was insanely funny.
All of them can spit, it just isn't relevant to combat for any of them.
Llamas, specifically the males, are such dickheads lol.
I remember I was at the zoo and this llama followed my group of friends walking around his enclosure and kept trying to spit at us. Like bro, we aren't trying to steal your girlfriend or territory, leave us alone haha
Thing is, camels and llamas don’t spit, they regurgitate their digested plant matter and then “spit” at their adversaries. If that doesn’t work, they’ll just rip your head off with their canines.
llamas even called "American Camel" in turkish

3:11 since Lamas are related to Cammels its pretty likley that the spitting myth just transfered to the Cammels from them
When threatened/annoyed/being pestered by a veterinarian the bactrian and dromedary tend to salivate and proceed to shake their heads.
It's not really spitting but the result is nearly the same as when done by Lamas/Alpacas/Guanakos/Vikunjas, only a little less acurate and not as much in the face

I've once heard about a pvp encounter on a zoo map between a Bactrian camel and a bison. Supposedly, the camel used a bite attack against the bison, employed the grab ability, lifted it up, and tossed it away. Similar to the footage with the donkey in the video, except with a much larger opponent. They're an insane build in certain matchups.
I read that another reason camels became more valuable than horses was because of their milk, which is something of a delicacy.
Apparently it's a drome-dairy.
Lock him up boys.
I would love to see a video comparing Camels to Moose. Both large herbivores on different servers, curious who would win in a 1v1 and how they stack up against each other.
Incredible video as usual by the way!
a moose would win. theyre both large herbivores, but moose are basically the last north american megafauna. they're HUGE. in pictures it doesnt always come across since there usually isnt anything to compare them to, but theyre just different. camels might be taller at the tip of their hump depending on the individual camel and moose, but moose have antlers to do damage from a much larger range. if a moose charged a camel it would be over

Wow, that ending though; I don't think I've ever heard TierZoo raise his voice like that before.
Alpacas are actually one of my favorite mammals (the fact that I love yarn might have something to do with it). They usually only spit at you if they feel threatened, stressed, or feel that you're encroaching on their personal space/herd/territory, and grumpier ones are more prone to spitting. Otherwise, they mostly do it towards each other to settle disputes, establish dominance, or express displeasure; essentially a form of alpaca communication.
That was PERSONAL at the end

Camels were reintroduced to Arizona after the World War 1 PVP event as abandoned military equipment. They were later removed but rumors persist that there's still a group of camel players in the deep desert.

How can camels be A-Tier, if a simple straw can break their back?
Like with many wild counterparts to domestic species, the greatest threats to "wild guilds" is being shoved off of dwindling "servers" by their domestic counterparts, whose high density also often results in the spread of "debuffs" in the form of higher parasite and disease risk that transfers to the wild counterparts who lack access to the human "players" medication
