I’ll give you a little tip on priming fuel to the injectors. Get a spare fuel cap, drill a hole in it, put a Tire valve in it, regulate an air compressor to 5 psi and put air to the fuel tank. Works like a charm. Save your starter.

the wooden platform from fender to fender is genius. why havent I seen that before? I am old and laying over a 7.3 to work is painful these days. I am definitely going to build that for my 'new' 02 f550

If yours is the IDI than it's not made to make much power. You could turn your injection pump up all the way but dont think that would give much more power. And those stanidyne pumps just are not as good as a Bosch pump.

I watched, liked an sub'ed so my first with you... now hoping I can remember my question.... yeah.. here goes: Have you ever pulled the head bolts one at a time and did the arp studs? I'm crippled now so got rid of my quad cab five speed with a two thousand something Laramie leather interior. I crawled in my 95 and fell in love with the plush. The guy I got it from drove it from mosserie to alaska and then the wiring took a dump and he threw his hands in the air and said someone buy this or I burn it! I handed him five thousand and said I will get you another five in a week an you hang on to the truck... he said I said buy an no one else showed up so here's the titles an its yours!
Wow as it was totally clean an no rust with heated electric mirrors an such. All carpeted an nice nice.... I got some covers for the floors cause it intimidated me. I found the problem way too easy as rodent chewed the wires under the dash and the greatest pleasure was finding that little bastard an stomping him to death. Every thing worked an it was just by the ecm an one of those ran the crank sensor so it wouldn't start. I did the new injectors and moded the fuel filter system next to the hvlp. I put those studs in an no problems but some told me that heads would be cracked an the gaskets would be dead and da da da da. Ignoring them I did the work an it was a bit of a struggle as they put ten pounds of crap in a five pound bag feeling.... I worked heavy equipment an mechanics on that stuff all my life but auto engines are a new one. I think that they would be easier with them out but that don't look that easy to me but then I am seventy three so nothing looks easy any more.... so whats the story on changing the head bolts?? thanks in advance

Hey man I have a 97 obs and It’s running so rough. I removed my valve covers today and unplugged one by one. And noticed #4 and #5 don’t do anything when unplugged. The other ones cause the truck to surge. I did the buss test and they all passed. But injector number 5 is squirting so much oil and it’s all splashing on the glowplug. The other #4 isn’t squirting at all. What could my issue be ? Also I’m guessing #5 has bad o rings

    • @The73Garage

The proper way to ensure they are in and seated fully is to tap them with your hand until they stop. Then, you need to gently tap them in until you hear a "ping" which indicates the injector is fully seated. If you don't, this can lead to a poor running truck and damage to the fuel injector. You cannot rely on the lower injector hold down bolt to pull the injector into the fully seated position.
