    All you need to take the fan off is the large cresent and a hammer. With the belt still on, apply some pressure on the cresent wrench at the point of the pulley slipping on the belt and pound straight down on the end of the wrenches handle....not on the side of the handle.... just straight down on the end. Works every time for me. Pulley wrench becomes obsolete with this method. I tighten the fan back on using the same tools and procedure. Love mod videos on the first Ford Superduty's, OBS and 7.3's, the only diesel i have ran for the past 23 years...great job!! Subscribed.

    7.3 has two plugs on each head to release the oil from going into injector cups when you pull the injectors

    • @BustedKnuckleVideo

      yeah we pulled those too

    • @jaminseat6701
      @jaminseat6701 4 года назад

      We did pull the plugs, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone because it’s too easy to drop one into the engine. I’d still make sure to roll the engine and evacuate any fluids that could have made their way into the cylinders.

Its better to do them now while you only have to do valves instead of when its to late and have to do a piston to. I only have 164,000 miles on the truck. Floating a valve is common in the 7.3 when pushing anything more then 25psi of boost. Irate diesel sells a nice after market stiffer spring. They are fine if you keep them stock, but once you start to increase the power in them they will start to knock, & go boom ruining your block & your pride. That's why some people like the OBS 7.3s because they don't have the weaker rods, the bottom end is already mostly there. although if you get the 98-2000 7.3s don't have the weaker rods to worry about.
      The rods might be ok for a little bit, but they won't last long before they go boom once they start to knock, good luck, its time for some rods, & while you're at it might as well just rebuild the motor with all new bearings & rings cuz you have the pistons out to change rods.

      Michael Benoit I know all about PMRs. Didn’t know a 98 7.3 Powerstroke was a thing though 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Best be handy and have a good set of tools. They are robust and reliable, but things are going to need repair and replacement. Oil leaks, door locks, brakes... they’ll all need attention.

      It probably needs injectors also.

      Great Diesel trucks to learn to work on.
