Ryan, I don't know u, but can't thank you enough. I just got a used MV mainly because of your videos showing me its superiority over my MPC1000 even with JJOS. I got ABLETON LIVE w/ PUSH 1 last year but missed the feel/simplicity of hardware. When I saw a 8000 with the VGA output on ebay for $400, I decided to give the MV a try. NO more fiddling with audio drivers and software updates ;-) I imagine 2-3 years from now, i'll be putting out some real heat with this machine if I stay disciplined and I have u to thank. Thank u again & Keep it coming, DOKbrown
+L Brown hey thanks man I appreciate that. I'm dying to get back on the mv and spend a couple hours digging in. I just had a baby's and have been on a beat machine in 3 months! Hope you like the mv my man and create some hits
that sample came in so strong made ryan say dame,yo the amplifire inside the MV is straight bananas this mashine will take any sound no matter what the volume is an boost it to a strong level before u get a chance to normalize first...
On some real shit this machine has all my beats knocking so damn hard especially if I run em through the mastering and put em on cd those joints BANG in the vehicle and my boys KNOW it's a MV beat. I'm trying to get more versatile with this thing and use the vsts from logic so I get this best of both worlds.
sweet vid. these little techniques are exactly what i need to get cracking on with a simple workflow. only had it a month and it takes patience. keep these vids coming man
Ryan. I just picked up an mv-8000. Your recommendation and videos have been helpful in me making my choice.... I'm not going to lie though, it's so muchore complicated than any other roland product I've picked up. Peace. Thanks for the tutorials.
i don't know about the 8000 but the 8800 has pattern copy in the menu of the pattern list. You can copy all tracks over. i build up loads of midi tracks with different sounds and hit ctl pass then mute different tracks using the pads, it's super fast! great tutorial!
Hey Ryan, Thanks for sharing this man. Really apreciate this. I'm picking up an 8000 this Sunday. Want to use it for my electro-industrial project. Cheers from Antwerp!
Great video man. Thanks for it. I just got my MV the other day. Haven’t started using it yet but hopefully today and if not this week. Thank you for the insight
Bless ryan , have you studied or looked into automation movements (when recording a track, have been studying this very issue for like 3 days , and it seems like you have to select a mid track or audio track (empty) then record your movements , rather it be panning, reverb , or level changes) i did some real-time automation with the panning & reverb as i can see some events on the track , But then when I load a patch to it nothing happens, and I also loaded a patch first recorded some automation movements , and nothing happens, reply back asap and let me know what u come up with, much peace Wiz
hey Ryan;your time&knowledge is much enjoyed & kudos for the generous way you approach information sharing .is it cold where you record these video's.if so let us know I'm sure someone will send you a space heater so you can remove the (2) hats your wearing and free up those all important ear holes ,keep those vides coming bro, thom the rom
Ryan, I just the mv 8000 2 weeks ago. whenever I'm in the pattern mode I add midi tracks because I want each track for a specific thing. a track for drums, a few tracks for samples etc. but when I go to the other tracks they all have the same sounds in the very first midi track. how do I fix this?
SaySol- Ben Yehoshua if im understanding you correctly you need to change the track instrument to a different patch. When you add the midi track you can select the sound bank you want to use on that track.
Thanks. It's a 17 inch, the cheapest I could find. The vga expansion cost me more than the monitor 😂😂😂 well worth it though as it makes it pretty much a daw
nice video , i have a 8000 and im having problems with my play and record buttons . i have the vga expansion and i was wondering can i hit play and record in the software to by pass my rec and play buttons on the mv , thanks
Great video... I have a question that hopefully you can shed some light on... I have the MV 8800 which has the VGA port in the back to connect to a computer monitor but I recently purchased a VGA to HDMI cable trying to take advantage of a 21 inch TV monitor , so far I haven't been able to sync everything up although the connections are perfect.... is this something that's possible or do you just absolutely have to have a computer monitor thanks for any input you can give me
I think the best way is the roland website. www.roland.com/global/support/by_product/mv-8000/updates_drivers/ Do you know what version software the machine you got is running. You might be good straight out the gate with it.
Becoming very interested in this machine lately, dont mind if theres a bit of a learning curve. Sick of DAW problems like latency, thin sound etc etc. Only ones in Ireland around 1200 quid and up, would it be better to invest in MPC X. This Roland seems to have more character, not crazy on touch screens like on the mpc, just doesnt feel right to me.
lardosian that seems pretty expensive for an MV. Depending on what you produce and what your goals are it's a tough decision. That MPC X is definitely a beast!
Ryan Miller Just thinking of a new set up daw free, maybe hook up 1 or 2 synths. Not a huge sample head, make house/techno. Have been watching a few Mike Acosta and Jim Stout vids and they are drooling over it.
whats good G. i been checking you out for a minute, useful info. i can make beats its just that im not that used to hardware. i been on fruityloops since it came out and still dont got that mastered. i got some slumpers tho on soundcloud/iZzLo. anyway i know this is much too ask but you think you can do some tutorials on each section of the mv-8000??? i got mine back in february 2016 this year for my b-day for $300 with the upgrade and im ashamed too say it but i havent put together NOT 1 FREAKIN BEAT!!! i dont have turntables yet but im rubbin off of cd's for now. i know how to sample off cd, chop it up manually or auto and load the instrument patches. thats it. im SOOOOOOO mad right now bcuz ive been wanting to transition from software(DAW's) to actual equipment. just dont understand it. IM NOT SELLING IT. ive gone weeks without playing with it due to frustration....can you help a brother out ??? i got that nerve racker sound and am trying to share but this machine is difficult to me, i dont know.....peace
hey man. just a quick one. is it better to work with chops in a midi or audio track? midi offers more options i.e ADSR but in MIDI i cant seem to find the pad option for gate, drum etc. im torn between what i want more!!!
That's a tough one! I tend to use audio tracks if I'm chopping a sample. I like the time stretch and gate/trigger features. Sometimes I use midi though.
Is this machine still worth using in 2018? Ive had several stumbling blocks when using this machine in the past but i want to get back into it. Thinking about starting at ground zero in the manual but idk if its still worth it since theres so much out ther now days. Lmk what you think bro. ✌
Alicia Garcia if you already have one i'd say its worth using. It sounds great. If you dont have one im not sure id get one with all the new stuff out there. I just got an MPC live and while I love it there are a couple things I miss about the MV. If course the live is 1200 and a used MV as low as 300 so budget is a factor as well
your quick edit screen seems different to mine. what software version are you on here. i have the 3.5. on quick edit i have no amplify or option to change attack etc. is it a pad setting?
+Ryan Miller thanks man. really need to get my head around the midi/ audio track and pattern/ sequence options. am coming from working with the sp808 and daw so its crazy different. i had a zoom sampletrak before this so i just need to adapt haha. thanks for the speedy reply. really appreciated
I don't know how anybody else feel but this machine is difficult. Once you get it down it's off the hook. At first a lot of flaming hula hoops to jump through, sucks...
I agree with you but at the same time jumping through all those hoops taught me so much. it was frustrating to have to dig through the manual especially in the time before youtube tutorials. But all that digging into the machine was such an escape for me I appreciated it in a different way. I can't front though this machine is difficult there is no denying that. You have to put the work in.
Appreciate ya bro💯

Thanks for watching. If there is anything specific you'd like to know about let me know. I been on this thing around 10 years
your doing a great job my brother keep up the good work Ryan...
Great video!! Slept on?? Definitely!! I think the MV was the greatest all in one box made!! It's well ahead of its time!!
+Sinosure I agree man and when it came out people weren't just sleeping they were outright hating on it. It never got a fair chance!
Ryan. I just picked up an mv-8000. Your recommendation and videos have been helpful in me making my choice.... I'm not going to lie though, it's so muchore complicated than any other roland product I've picked up. Peace. Thanks for the tutorials.

8K has the same features since Ver.3 OS update.

So great with this video just got the 8000 and I find it hard to use so I hope you will make more videos :-) Thanks man :-)
Love it🎼💯
When are you going to make another video
It's. Worth it!

+Thom Cirillo thanks! I always wear hats...probably not the best for making music though haha
The MV-8000 (Rza)
Ryan, I just the mv 8000 2 weeks ago. whenever I'm in the pattern mode I add midi tracks because I want each track for a specific thing. a track for drums, a few tracks for samples etc. but when I go to the other tracks they all have the same sounds in the very first midi track. how do I fix this?

Ryan Miller ok I'll try that. thanks
I didn’t get the mv I got the asr 10 what am I missing which is better or do u know?
hey man nice video definitely helps alot, just curious as to what size monitor that you you got hooked up to the mv?
Thanks. It's a 17 inch, the cheapest I could find. The vga expansion cost me more than the monitor 😂😂😂 well worth it though as it makes it pretty much a daw
Nice in that case i may add one to my newly acquired mv as it has the vga out thanks again man and keep it up!
+Ryan Miller The vga expansion easy to do yourself... nice video
nice video , i have a 8000 and im having problems with my play and record buttons . i have the vga expansion and i was wondering can i hit play and record in the software to by pass my rec and play buttons on the mv , thanks
I believe that should work. What version of the software are you running?
@@RyanMillerSP 3.54 i bought it used for 300.00 on ebay . everything else is fine .
Great video... I have a question that hopefully you can shed some light on... Demetrius Patterson I dont know for sure but I have only seen a vga connection work. Ive never seen someone sucessful hook it up to HDMI.
How do i update the software im getting one from guitar center. Its on the way
I think the best way is the roland website.

After listening for 20 mins Ryan starts to sound like Chris Walken lol
It is much nicer to watch the video with this in mind
I now watch this video once everyday with this in mind.
whats good G. i been checking you out for a minute, useful info. i can make beats its just that im not that used to hardware. i been on fruityloops since it came out and still dont got that mastered. i got some slumpers tho on soundcloud/iZzLo. anyway i know this is much too ask but you think you can do some tutorials on each section of the mv-8000??? i got mine back in february 2016 this year for my b-day for $300 with the upgrade and im ashamed too say it but i havent put together NOT 1 FREAKIN BEAT!!! i dont have turntables yet but im rubbin off of cd's for now. i know how to sample off cd, chop it up manually or auto and load the instrument patches. thats it. im SOOOOOOO mad right now bcuz ive been wanting to transition from software(DAW's) to actual equipment. just dont understand it. +Ryan Miller cool. i domt really want to use quantize etc on the sequencer but they are only available on the midi tracks, no?
+Ryan Miller and thanks for the reply
+10BensonSilver correct quantize is only on midi tracks
+Ryan Miller thanks man. damn this machine has a learning curve!
also drums. would you use midi for drum chops or audio?
For drums I always use midi because of the filters although in the rare cases I sample an entire drum loop I may use audio to time stretch it
Is this machine still worth using in 2018? Ive had several stumbling blocks when using this machine in the past but i want to get back into it. Thinking about starting at ground zero in the manual but idk if its still worth it since theres so much out ther now days. Lmk what you think bro. ✌

Yh, defo. Plow through those RUclips vids, learn it and bang those pads
your quick edit screen seems different to mine. what software version are you on here. i have the 3.5. on quick edit i have no amplify or option to change attack etc. is it a pad setting?
I'm on 3.5 as well. Are you looking at quick edit on an audio track or midi track. Quick edit on midi track should give you all those options
+10BensonSilver no doubt. Stay tuned for more
+Ryan Miller locked in
this beat go in.
