I swear by MV8800. I loved my MV8000 just as much. Hopefully you've had the opportunity to give it a second chance. In 2017 I still have hope that they'll be a MV3000 with object editing and updated export and mastering options. As a 45 year old who's been around music all my life...I can't think of nothing that is more versatile. You said from concept to execution....you can do more on the MV than the MPC --no contest.

the Dopest function on the MV 8000 is the Note Split you can put everything on one midi track right click on the mouse go down the list to you see Split note you can choose different types of ways to split notes . you can pick it , if you make a mistake just push the undo button it will take you back to before the mistake

Mv 8000 does have pattern mode and it is a pain in the ass in the beginning. But still a worthwhile sampler to buy . If the options were a mpc 2000xl 2000, 60,or , 500. The mv is the better choice only because of not buying parts for old mpc's. Just get the 3.5 os for mv.
I have full memory and 80gb. Hard drive in mine.
And just sample storage alone makes this a great deal it holds my sample library and fantom sounds.

The MV can duplicate almost any drum sampler. You just have to experiment. Once you understand the quantise and the deeper features in MFX, the world is yours. Having EQ and a mixer that's automated is also awesome. You can even do pattern mode and linear at the same time.

I haven't used the mv and I'm still on the 2kxl which does me. For me I like the limitations, sometimes with too many options you get flustered by choice and it can kill the workflow! The only thing the older mpcs fall short on is the ability to mix and eq inside the box! I have the eb16 effects card and I think its dope, especially the eq, but you can only set up two eqs! Once again this limitation forces me to pick the right break for the sample every time as I usually find myself using the two eqs for splitting the sample into low and mid frequency ranges! Sometimes Ill eq drums and sample them into another sampler with the eq on them before sampling back into the 2kxl again. That way it frees up the two eqs for the sample again! The one fatal flaw of the 2kxl is that you cant resample something with the efx on it! But then again it forces you to be more creative!

Agreed 100%! Also helps to have a dj mixer or mixing board so you can run the signal through that and use the eq's before you sample into the MPC.
But with creativity , sometimes less is more for sure

There's a learning curve to hardware whenever you're more experienced on a different model. Dope beat at the beginning of the vid btw

Had the MV8800 myself last year, good machine but lots of menu diving, much prefer the immediate feel of the mpc.
    Great upload bro.

Tbt mpcs have way more menu diving and slower workflow. Ableton with push and maschine are some of the most straight forward, no bullshit beat machines rn

I own the MPC-2500 and now the Live and I've never used an MV but it seems like an extremely powerful production tool. But there are two things that always kept me off - Only one MIDI OUT port and most importantly the cooling fan. Maybe there is no noise issue related to the fan on the MV but as soon as I see that on any device, that's it for me...

    • @Schokobratel
      @Schokobratel 4 года назад

There are 2 Midi-Out ports on the MV. Only one Midi-In though. The cooling fan is actually quite quiet.

sounds like u just didn't have time to master it like you have your old machine. I was looking towards getting the mv8800.. I own a xl 2000..
I would just like to experiment it myself... what is the difference between the mv and the newest renaissance..???

I hate Roland on how everything is so overcomplicated and yet so ineffective,I do appreciate how hard they are trying to push things up and how they always have an approach for musician over the easy route that Akai is taking with their machines.Akai is cool but definitely not for me,so pretty much I appreciate and respect both companies about the same.
My first piece of gear was yamaha SU-10 and my real piece of gear was the MV8800 which at some point I traded for MPC Live. Now MV8800 should not be treated as a simple sampler but rather as a workstation because once you start using that features MV8800 shines.I did traded my MV to a hip-hop producer and I kept in touch with him,I pushed him real hard to make him use it as workstation rather than a sampler and eventually he got into recording instruments and collaborating with many guitarists for his works, once you start work the way the MV was intended you start understanding the point of it.Both me and the guy that has my MV can say that if you stop making MV do the things you want and instead you start doing what the MV excels at,you are introduced to a whole new workflow, mindset and approach to music overall.
MV8800 is one of those tools that is built in a specific way to work with,it's not for everyone. With that been said I can also say that it is not flawless, there are some things that are simply absurd about that machine but they are minor especially compared to how much it offers.MV8800 was way ahead of its time,to this day comparable to MPC Live and it's funny because I use Live for midi as well for MPC Beats yet there are many cases that I wish I had the MV instead.
Something that i need to mention is the quantize, the quantize in that machine was mindblowing it almost felt like you were messing with oscilators in a modular synth and it gave a whole new dimension to how you can flip whatever you are working on,the issue was that there was no way that you could skip the complexity of quantize if you weren't interested into it,if you wanted the simpliest stuff you still had to go through the mess. Also it was all based on luck, the things you would get out of the quantize system if you used it could not be done intentionally, making it great for experimenting but counter-intuitive for actually making music proffesionally,in that regard the quantize was back shooting itself.
MPC Live feels much more like a tool rather than a workstation, you are limited to what a sampler and sequencer is ment to be,but on both sequencing and sampling it is the absolute standard of the market. It's easy to find a way to make MPC Live to work on your workflow and the workarounds that you will have to do are minimal. The filters are ok,nothing special but handy to be there. The menu diving is weird,it's weird because it doesn't feel like a real hardware device nor a daw in a box it's somewhere in between and I hate it,it's really counter-productive even once you learn where everything is (at least for me) I don't like it at all.The MV's menu diving created a learning curve because things were within other things that were within other options and the list goes on but once you learn it,it makes sence it was like layering the settings, frustrating experience to learn but once you got it made sense, still though it was way too slow sometimes even if you learn it in and out.In that regard MPC is better if you want to get things done and you don't care for anything else,if you want a process that will get you ideas midways MV is better, again MV has a design that feels like it is ment for people with instruments experience, more musical backround,it is felt like it was programmed to be used by a person that was on analogue side of things (physical instruments) and enters the digital for the freedom it offers,MPC from the other hand is ment for music programmers.
Just so I can wrap things up,MV is a hit or miss, you either love it or hate it,meanwhile MPC it is a tool, you do your thing into it and you move on,now the question is should you see your equipment as something more than just tools,if so MV is just not good.

I'll keep it short and brief. I don't think you took the time to learn the machine. Which is cool, you tried it for $300+ and didn't like the machine or flow. I will say... having both MPC's & the MV8000 at home, the MV does everything that you don't think it does. You can copy, paste and also loop from 1 bar to multiple bars. Split bars, transpose bars, step bars into songs. Even assign whole bars to single pads... the list goes on. You have pattern mode and song mode. You also have a drum grid & keyboard edit screen, not just the linear display. I've had a few dudes come by that said they tried the MV and hated it. When they told me what they hated, I showed them tips & tricks from knowing the machine inside out. All of them admitted that the MV was more advanced and actually had a better workflow once they knew what to do. I love both brands MPC & MV, and will never part with either. Jussayin!

Sounds good, one day when I have time i would love to give the MV another shot. Like I said my scope was very limited and I did like how it sounded. But I copped the tutorial DVD to help me get started and it did not mention any of these features. Maybe it was before the software updates.
My main argument though is not that one is better then the other but that (agin from my limited experience ) the MPC is more intuitive and gets you from point a- (idea in the head) to point be (sequenced beat) faster with less obstacles.
      Thanks for the comment, homie!

Some bad information in here. You didn’t spend enough time learning the machine. Totally different workflow to learn from a MPC. The MV probably ain’t for you. And that’s cool. Respect.

hey at least you honest !! You didn't know how power the unit !! Everything you explain in the MPC the MV could do that an more ! The MV quantize is second to none .....unfortunate you didnt do no digging ...(research) :(
