I love how older equipment forces you to be creative and find work arounds. I have another idea I will play with tonight using this and 16 levels. Good stuff Roger!
Didn’t get the results I was looking for. I would have to remove 1 sample from each subsequent sample I place in the SMT (4 sample total) and rename each one.
Thanks a lot for your comment, Wax. Totally appreciated. It's indeed exactly that challenge what makes it awesome to work with older gear. Apparently we need boundaries for getting creative.
Thanks! I was indeed surprised too. Normally I would sample a chord but this way you have more freedom and the sound quality of the chords stays super. Better than sampled chords spread over the pads.
MIDI Manic!!! You do not know how much this just INSPIRED ME!!! I knew how to layer my drums in my MV, but I was completely cluesless to this method to creating your own chords with a patch and SMT. I'm just now getting back into my MV after 10 years man, life took over, and you know the rest. Chords was always a weak point for me. I appreciate this jewel infinitely!!!🫡👍🏾🤜🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
Great video Rogier, I never really touched SMT settings before. 2 quick questions 1) Can you save the patches with all the settings (so you could load a patch of chords already set up, choose minor, major whatever different ones you saved)? 2) What happens if you change the sample after you made the patch? For example you made the patch by sampling C2 of a Rhodes sound, could you replace it with a sample of say C2 of a V-Synth sound and it will keep the other settings?
@@ArwynKeast you are so right - that’s the only other time I ever used it, but moved to doing the same thing by keeping each sound layer on a separate pad for control of all parameters
It's an incredible piece of software inside the MV-units which can be controlled by a mouse when connected to a VGA-screen. This software is also visible on the 320x240 4,7" full colour screen.
@@asonofmre2 Enjoy it, it's a great piece of machinery. I bought mine after watching old Roland demo videos on RUclips and watching Roger using his on this channel - that man is a true Roland gear-head!
@@asonofmre2 Maannnnn! That's awesome! Did you buy the one from Barcelona? I wish I had mine just to do videos over because I've learned so much in the past years. Enjoy the unit. It's a great one.

FREAKING BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video. This is the answer to my question about some 90s house sounds. Thanks! I will try with my MV8000.
Wow! This opens up so many possibilities!! Thank you for this awesome video.
Thanks for your message. Enjoy this easy solution to create nice beats/tracks/tunes/music!
🙏🏽🙌🏽
Ahh genius! I would never have thought to use the SMT for this. Brilliant.
Thanks! I was indeed surprised too.

Excellent stuff Roger .
Thanks a lot!
I do it with the MPC 1000 JJOSXL
you can program 6 notes plus one root note
pretty dope!
Awesome that they created this JJOS to keep the old gen MPC up to date.
@@theMIDImaniac it's so much fun!
btw Brilliant video!

Thanks, Roger. I find that use of Patch SMT to de-tune samples to make single pad chord progressions something I may explore
You will like it a lot!
Awesome. Another topic challenge idea, is to solve how to do the Drill style 808 slides in the MV.
Ah, yes....the infamous Drill Style 808 slides ;-)
Will do another video on that too.
wirklich gut 👍
I just received my MV8000
I will need your help
Congrats on your MV!

SMT is also amazing for single hit drum layering, like adding components of a kick drum or snare drum. Like a tiny bit of white noise over a snare

@@tomsmate6856 Ah yeah that's a great idea - will try that! Separate envelopes would be great for that.
@Tom's Mate! Just uploaded a video for you on FB. Yes, it is possible what you're asking :D
send number list to my in box per chords Please....man my MPC 61 is feeling cold
meanwhile zillions of youngsters with their million-files-chord-pack-directories: whut? so simple? that's cheating!
super
Thanks!
What the hell is that DAW?
That's the GUI screen coming from the Roland MV8800.

I’ve just bought a Roland vp9000 from eBay in amazing condition. It’s my first hardware sampler. Your videos on it are very good 👍
