Before you comment, check this out: ⬇ 1. The Sony A7SIII DOES have a touch screen. It was a simple scripting mistake that wasn't caught before posting. Still would keep the same rank though. 2. The R5C was backordered, so we weren't able to get our hands on one for the comparison. We plan on using that for the next shootout. 3. The Sony does have a native ISO of 12,800 and would blow the others out of the water, but we wanted to see how it compared on their level of 10,000 ISO. (It Still Won) 4. The GH6 does have a "tripod mode" which does perform better when walking. But we just tested everything with their standard IBIS 5. For all of you Nikon and Fuji fans, we have content coming out for those as well. So don't worry. :)
why not use the S1h which is the same price as the Canon and Sony and is Full frame and Panasonics top notch mirrorless camera for video at the moment...doesnt make sense mate .... at all
I think it’s worth mentioning that the BMPCC Pro comes with Davinci Resolve software. Which is crazy. And it has the best denoiser on the market. This is a proper cinema camera that is used on Film sets across the world. When you start shooting with a real cinema camera vs a hybrid you can’t go back. You get used to having everything for video right on the camera vs having to map the buttons for film.
Works with Zhiyun Crane 3s and Ronin RS3's. Don't Know why they didn't add that information afterwards in the bio. Seems misleading for those that are interested in getting into the Blackmagic ecosystem. As @chrisccain noted, each camera also comes with the full Davinci Resolve software free which is an amazing editing software with extremely powerful features.
BM6KP is by all means a stellar cinema camera for anything film. and a buddy of mine uses it with the riser plate and raveneye on the rs2 no problem. But, nothing beats the Sony as a workhorse in the videography realm. the capability to shoot a whole event, wedding, or anything really with the a7siii on gimbal and have sharp autofocus is like a comfortable armchair compared to lugging around one’s beloved cinema camera in that situation. mainly because of the weight, and the need for some type of follow focus. but when you go outside on a sunny day those internal ND’s are certainly nice.
@@men770d The fx3 and the a7s3 have the same exact sensor. There is actually no difference at all in image quality between the two. Anything regarding lowlight capabilities with the s3 applies to the fx3 as well. The only difference is the the exterior and the different features each have.
Wow, I’m disappointed by the number of mistakes. The A7S III does have a touchscreen…. Using ISO 10000 is a non sense when you have a dual iso triggering at 12800 in SLog 3. Stabilization mode on GH6 was not the right setup. I did watch soles footage with or without and that’s far stable than A7S III. Also talking about the R5 overheating issue without have a word for the R5C…is kind a strange. But good video anyway 👍
The highest level of gh6 stabilisation is the "tripod mode" - it is deticated not to record movement - that's why your results were disappointing. Try the one stop lower mode and it will beat it's opponent's
i said the same thing to myself. like how they really low-balled panasonic like that. ok..we get it...sony and canon..wooohoo. meat riders for those two brands but costs so much money and they use prime lenses!!!..expensive i love Panasonic. so wht if it isnt full frame..still gets the whole job done!!
For me , a huge factor is built-in ND filters. Nothing is more annoying than having to swap or add filters in the middle of a wedding or live shoot. Also, the BM camera is big so it does not overheat. That's why I like Blackmagic sometimes.
The 12-35 mm lens for Micro Four Thirds is the exact replacement of a 24-70 lens on Full Frame. The 2X crop factor of MFT is easy to convert. Just divide or multiply by 2 to convert from full frame to MFT. 12mm on MFT = 24mm on Full Frame. 35 on MFT = 70 on Full Frame. This should not have been an issue, or even confusing to people that know and understand crop factor. To purchase a 35-100 for this comparison makes no sense. It is a full frame equivalent of 70-200mm. Come on guys....
Yes, exact replacement for the focal lenghth and for luminosity (at f/2.8 both lenses), BUT the bokeh is not the same, because of the sensor. Don't expect have the same depth of field (the depth of field of Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 is f/4 equivalent on full frame).
@@bogdanpopescu8406 Correct the depth of field would be different on a lens designed for a smaller sensor despite the aperture values being the same. I think for the purposes of this video it would have been fine. In real life situations this also makes smaller sensors better for landscape photography allowing for more light and a wider aperture while getting more in focus.
It just seems a little silly that you didn't choose one of the 3 different Panasonic full frame options. The a7s iii is the same price as a S1H. Would have been a more apt comparison.
$50 worth of Smallrig parts and you can get the BMPCC 6K Pro to ride on an Ronin S or RS2. Probably would have been worth mentioning that the BMPCC 6K Pro comes with Resolve, which has great stabilization and noise reduction capabilities. With all the other brands, you'd have to buy editing software...
Doesn’t even cost 50 dollars. A 200g counterweight will suffice. It even works with RSC2 ! And yea, BMPCC paired with Da Vinci is the bomb for colour grading: DaVinci Wide Gamut already beats Adobe hands down.
@@Darrinwilliamsmedia What counterweight do you use for the BMPCC 6k? I'm thinking of getting one. I like the image better but i'm not sure how it would match up with my canon mk3 as a 'B' cam...
The Blackmagic 6K Pro does fit on gimbals and also has a dual native iso at 400 and 3200 which should be mentioned that produces great footage with very minimal grain and high dynamic range. Also, the 6K pro is a cinema grade camera. That is the reason why ibis and continuous autofocus are not present. It is meant to be used with a follow focus system like the tilta nucleus nano and m system.
I personally use GH6 and changed from Sony. I feel very comfortable about usability of GH6 and nothing change from Sony. And it has really detailed functions so I could customize all as i want to. As mentioned “easy to use” I know it might be big change from previous version but I think GH6 is worth to have it and great camera. Anyway I enjoyed to watch your reviews🙂
i am planning to buy a panasonic lumix model,, but im confused.. which one is better when it comes to lowlight video and battery life...the gh5 or gh6.. hope u notice my comment thanks..
@@BrellTebelinGH6 as it gives ibis, internal raw pro res hq and looks just as cinematic as the bmpcc4k but with slightly more computational render. Not a big deal as it yields for more variants. Higher dr than gh5, cleaner. You need a vintage or cinema lens for it otherwise it won’t work on this camera for that cinema look that makes it obvious. No modern or native lenses is the best way to go if that makes sense. Lowlight is good on both but won’t beat the gh5s by a slight margin. Go for the GH6 👌
I live in Oklahoma, I run GH5’s for weddings, surprisingly they can run 4k/30 10 bit as long as the batteries last in 100 degree plus outdoor temps. Literally shot a wedding last weekend in 105 degrees and heat index over 120 for over 40 minutes… no temp warnings!
Nice video. Just a few points - 1. Comparing the video off different cameras with different brands of lenses isn’t a fair test. Lenses affect the image most, more so than an adaptor. 2. BMPCC 6K Pro CAN BE used with a gimbal like RS2 / RSC2. It is left heavy so you simply add a Smallrig counterweight at the right side. In fact DJI Gimbal systems acknowledge BMPCC and its Raveneye is compatible as well. 3. Leica SL2-S should be somewhere in that lineup. It’s colour science is said to mimic RED while stabilisation is smooth. 4. It’s worth emphasising that unlike the other three, the BMPCC is a cinema camera from ground up: it does not have a DELETE button alongside stabilisation or continuous focus on purpose (RED or Arri do not have them also). It comes down whether convenience Vs test of skill matters for the consumer. We really can’t rank hybrid cameras (photo/video) on top in these categories although price points wise BMPCC is in the bracket.
This was really just clickbait right? 30+ minutes wasted to pretty much plug their course? The testing seemed so out of whack that it had to be a piss take. Using different glass on each. Not knowing or using native ISO. Not understanding how properly set up autofocus or stabilization options to yield optimum results. Not understanding how rig the BM on a gimbal. Shooting in standard picture profiles to compare color science. On what planet does Sony or any other camera here have 15 stops of DR? And how was this verified? No understanding of crop factors? You "needed" 2 lenses for the GH6 to cover the focal range when the 1st lens clearly does just that? They even showed the equivalent focal range on the B&H screenshot contradicting was they were saying! Best self own was at 4:06 "If you buy one of these cameras and don't know how to use it, it's essentially worthless". Pretty much summed up the presenters abilities to properly test, compare, use and understand basic camera differences. If this was a joke, then haha. You got me.
Yes!!!! At first I was thought the "using different lenses is better" was going to be worse, but this video just kept getting worse. It's probably the best showcase of the dunning-krueger effect on RUclips. I was baffled by just how many mistakes there were. At the end I wouldn't watch their course even they were paying me instead of the other way around
Guys, gonna have to disagree with you on the Sony having better highlight detail than the Pocket 6k Pro. In post, if you grade on the Wide Gamut intermediate, and use highlight recovery, you will get 9 stops above middle grey (my tests with the camera) plus another 6.5 below. This is an advantage over any other camera on the market since Blackmagic has a patent in highlight recovery. If you're not getting this much latitude, then you're not quite doing it right in post. Would be happy to discuss this if you like
They are obviously not BMPCC users and only made an impression based on an off-the-bat experience. The true value of BMPCC is in the bundled software of DaVinci. Others have made the comment about this already. Hope they pick it up in their mistakes.
@@MarkusFinholt Yes I am. Wide gamut color space + HDR wheels color grading + highlight recovery gives you that much. You can see it in the zones graph: 16 stops of latitude.
I don't like Sony, but the A7SIII is probably the best all around camera, but for film making, it has to go to blackmagic for the beautiful footage you can get from it.
Price wise, the S1H is too much for this comparison. This is comparing mid level cameras. The S5 probably would have been the better one to fit in there. Feature wise, it's about the same as the Sony and Cannon. But I think they went with the GH6 because of its dynamic range boost, and it has more features the all of them to make up for it. But do those features make up for it it? Depends on what you shot!
@@chrisklugh I mean the r5 is more expensive. The S1 is also great value with the last firmware. You need to work around the autofocus in video unfortunately
When it comes to dynamic range, you should have also considered that the GH6 has the dynamic range booster function that can be turned on and off. Also, this is why you should have done an S-series camera instead, since they boast 14 stops instead of 13.
Blackmagic recently activated their in camera gyro image stabilization on the 6K Pro thru a software update. You need Resolve 18 to use it and there is a slight crop factor but it works pretty well.
Agreed. The fact that the camera is last just because it doesn’t have auto focus or IBIS is insane. Good luck on a real movie set. And you can absolutely use it for run and gun if you learn how to shoot properly.
@@sitebstudiosthe thing is everyone needs certain specs. If you are on movie sets then you’re right you should get the BM. But if you need some for run and gun no rig the other 3 are the better option. There is a rumor that BM is joint the L mount!! I hope the camera is a box camera or a GH6 style camera, big and beefy.
In my opinion as an R5 shooter that has worked with A7Siii footage and needs to crank out content that requires color grading, nothing beats the color science performance and ease of color grading like the R5. Consequently this allows for a greater range of error to recover in post
Hmmm weird, I've seen other video's about the GH6 & Sony IS and everyone says the GH6 is way best. Also their footage looked way more stable during movements. Maybe you missed something?
They used the tripod mode and walked with it. I wonder why it is shakey lol. In Richard Wong's demo, the GH6 + dual IS is crazy smooth you could walk easily up to 35mm equivalent.
Just asking in IBIS are you turn on all of the ibis in GH6? it will only work if you want to have tripod like shoot(not moving like talking head), for moving subject you only need turn on ibis and e stabilization, because if you turn on all of them it will look weird for moving shot
I'm going to put it out there that I shoot weddings and the Blackmagic 6K Pro is SO much fun to shoot with at weddings! Manual focus is second nature to me so it's pretty easy to do on the large screen, but having ND filters built in has made shooting so much more fun. I do also have a Sony a7IV for gimbal work/autofocus when I need it (venue shots, real estate, speakers that like to pace around a lot), but the majority of my footage is captured on the 6K Pro. I would hardly say it's useless at weddings.
AGREED. been using the 6K rigged out for weddings and it allows me to be SO much more creative and get some really cool intimate shots over some basic non dynamic gimbal work. Sets you apart from the competition 🤘
I agree, I filmed weddings for over a year with the 6k Pro and for me is above any of the other 3 cameras compared in this video, despite the minuses presented!
I also agree, I’m shooting weddings with my 6k pro for a year now and I love it. Of course autofocus would be easier but I quickly learned to use manual focus. And there multiple options to stabilize the 6k pro
Multiply the camera’s crop factor by the mm zoom of the lens to compare to full frame. So micro four thirds has a 2.0 crop factor, a 25mm lens has the same zoom as a 50mm on full frame.
Recently shot a short with the BMPCC 6K Pro on the DJI RS2. Yes it doesn't fit 100% on the Arca base plate, but luckily the latch closes just enough to keep it in place and the locking pin prevents it from coming off. Rigged it out with a Tilta Nano follow focus system, and the Raveneye transmitter, and we managed to pull off some incredible footage in a MMA ring. Total cost of the rig was about $5k - $6k AUD. We're so lucky as filmmakers to have the tools we have today. The fact that we can nit pick codecs and autofocus is a luxury. Happy filming everyone!
Being M4/3 is not an issue with Panasonic, and you will not beat the amazing quality of the 25mm 1.7F prime lens I'm still using with my G7! But, AF. It ruins every YT video I produce, hence why I'm on here. I'm hoping the GH6 AF will be a big enough improvement over the G7 because it's completely unusable. Sony almost had me, until I saw some of these comments stating that the Image Stabilization on the GH6 is better in Tripod Mode and it has a Dynamic Range Booster. Please have good enough AF Panny boy! I don't wanna have the same problem.
This is a great comparison, so thank you! I think the one of the most attractive of the bunch is the GH6: I mean think about it, Pani-boy is like $1000 less than the Sony, which would allow one to purchase the Sigma f1.4 trio with that extra cheddar. Also, how about the anamorphic desqueeze modes in Pani-boy (I am sure Blackmagic does too). I don't have any Panasonic cameras, but I have been researching the GH6, so I am not trying to take sides; I am just pointing out that a micro four thirds loser sensor is not doing so bad keeping up with the Big Boys. I have an Olympus and a Sony (I have had Full Frame and have APS-C Sony), and I can tell you if you want the best lenses for less money (and less size), Micro Four Thirds is the way to go...do love that Sony dynamic range though, it is legit.
It's strange they didn't do their research in this video. They could have even used a Glidecam for stabilization if they couldn't figure out the Ronin. 😀
The r5 has several modes in 4k that donot overheat, not just 4k24. It has 4k 24 and 30 fps and oversampled 4k crop mode 24 and 30 fps that does not overheat. Put a metabones on the canon and those two crop modes become just about full frame. Just thought I would point that out.
Great comparison, respect that you saw the quality of the BlackMagic for cinematic work and also that each camera is fit and excels in a particluar purpose.
I personally have no problem working with the Pocket 6K pro on my RS2. Im using relatively light wide angle lenses and it works a charm. Even with the raveneye+focus wheel attached. But I have to say I’m considering getting a Sony as my second camera since those two perfectly add to each other’s weeknesses. And I’m wondering why they didn’t cover audio capabilities. I’m doing a lot of Interview shooting and being able to input 3 Mikrofons (or 2 on separate channels) is quite nice for the whole package that is the pocket 6K pro.
Quite good comparison! I just think you guys didn't quite did the GH6 justice, but i get it that a quick comparison doesnt cover or makes to possible to notice some settings/features. Especially when it comes to usability/easy of use and ibis.
Black Magic does have stabilization if you shoot in raw, because the gyroscopic informations are saved with the images, and you can stabilize in post with DaVinci. Same thing for the rolling shutter. It's not as convenient as the other cameras, indeed, but it is cheaper.
I appreciate the effort in the video but your GH6 stabilisation test wasnt correct. The GH5 would walk over the R5 and Sony and the GH6 is far superior. Using the 12-35 lens that GH6 would glide like it's on a gimbal.
Black magic is not in the same league as the dslr cameras. RUclipsrs that try to sensationalize specs try to compare apples to oranges but the bmpcc shits on everything for the price.
Yes the image and the ease of recoding raw in the camera is outstanding. And they didn’t mention the audio at all which is ODD for a video comparison. Having 2 XLR and a normal small Mikrofon input is so good for shooting Interview situations. Even the internal mic from the pocket is quite nice (In comparison). Another point they didn’t cover was video output. In don’t know about the other 3 but not having 4k video-out on the pocket is a small issue for me personally since I’m working with virtual production recently. I would love a 4Kvideo out for live compositing.
The one category not here and rarely thought about in reviews is the cost of changing systems. If I have $20,000 of lenses, doesn't matter which system, then the only affordable option is the camera with the mount that fits your lenses. When selling lenses you are doing well to get 60% of new cost when selling, so that 40% (or whatever percentage in individual sales) is an added cost when needing to buy replacement lenses from the other system. Added to that is the lower cost of buying a MFT lens collection compared to the larger format brands. This means that the cost of switching to MFT is dramatically less than going the other way. I discovered this when I switched from Canon to Panasonic two years ago. While easy to find lenses that are similar in price, at the wide end and especially the tele end, MFT lenses are way cheaper. I point this out because the cost of a camera is just a small part of the cost of buying into a camera system. As a result the lower price of the GH6 is just the beginning, the cost of several lenses is also lower, making it by far the most affordable of these three cameras, and considering how good the Panasonic colors are, and how the MFT sensor is comparable to full frame sensors in dynamic range, the GH6 remains a strong contender for an indie filmmaker on a budget. In many ways this is like the film days, when 35mm was the expensive option, but lots of indie filmmakers chose the 16mm Bolex because it was the affordable choice despite some compromises. Even today, the Bolex has a cult following because they like the Bolex look, and dream of being like a young Kubrick shooting on his Bolex. MFT is the 16mm of the digital age. But for those with Canon EF or EF-S lenses they need to choose Blackmagic or the Canon. Someone with E-mount lenses needs to choose the Sony, and those with MFT lenses needs to choose the GH6, or its even more affordable cousin, the GH5 M2. Changing systems, unless you only have a couple of lenses, is just too darn expensive.
panasonic never promote the youtube charlantans .these guys had to be paid for the products what they use ....for their daily bread maker....canon ,sony do paid prmotions.....nikon,pana do not do that much....
No battery comparison? That is worth looking into in my opinion. I have the BM6K Pro, and that thing will go through 1 battery per hour, even plugged into the Ronin RS2. I literally have 9 batteries for it, and go through most of them on a single wedding. That’s why I want to switch to an R6… maybe it’ll overheat, but I think it’d do fine with HD@60fps, which is what I normally need.
I'm confused why if you got equivalent lenses with the gh6, you still decided to push in with all its shots? I mean... 12-35 panasonic is the same as 24-70 on full frame, so why were they cropped in? Made me scratch my head a little bit...
I've seen footage from all those cameras, it's clear that the blackmagic pocket cinema 6k (or 6k pro) has more cinematic look than the others, if you want to make a film, it's the best option
Thanks for the video, chaps. I think you should have featured the Canon R5C instead of the R5. It solves the problems within the R5 apparently. The R5 is basically history now. Cheers.
It should be noted too that the BMPCC tracks gyro data and in Davinci Resolve (which is provided) and the gyro stabilization is amazing and very quick change in post
The GH6 has BY FAR the best image stabilization out of these 4 cameras (and really all cameras), but it only works properly if you set it up properly. There are certain IBIS settings that are ONLY for tripod use. If you try walking with it on, it gives you the warping like in your video. For handheld walking, you only want optical and sensor IS on, and then you can turn on the HANDHELD e-stabilization if you want to. IF you turn on everything, it will always look bad, because that's just not what it's meant to do.
Absolutely fantastic video and analysis! I'm so glad to finally hear what I've been saying from day one that the Canon R5 and the R6 have serious overheating issues when shooting in the higher frames rates and codecs. This is why I've stuck with the R. My arsenal also includes the A7S3, GH5, and the new Olympus OM1.
It's worth mentioning that the BMPCC 6K Pro/G2 and the whole range now have gyro stabilization so that isn't really a valid category to knock it anymore.
Hybrid Camera pricing and features categories for better shoot out comparisons ? - Sony A7S3, Panasonic S1H, Canon R5C - Panasonic S1/S5, Sony A74, Canon R6, Nikon Z6 II - Blackmagic 6k Pro, Fuji-film X-H2S, Panasonic GH6, Canon R7C? - Nikon Z9, Canon R3, Sony A1 Is this correct ? Any other categories ? How about Cinema Cameras ?
I feel like these guys are just reading form spec sheets. Take dynamic range for example, I'm 99 percent sure that if they had properly tested these cameras, they wouldn't repeatedly advertise A7S III as having 15 stops of dynamic range while recording video internally, I've seen proper dynamic range test where BM beats the A7S III...
Thanks for the review, guys! I was not happy with the R5 for videography due to overheating and the IBIS really sucked. I do have the R5 C now and besides the battery issue I can say that this is the right camera for me. For videography, it is so much better and more pro than the R5 and I really love the fact that it is a pro photography cam when you switch to photo mode if required.
Hey do you notice a big jump in video quality using the r5c? Considering either the R5 or r5c and do 50/50 photo / video and the R5 is quite a bit cheaper than the r5c at least in europe
@@MrMolotov69 it’s about flexibility with the R5C. If you gotta ask, the R5 is the better buy. There is probably a stop better DR, unlimited recording, monitoring tools, manual override, no overheating, xlr hotshoe capability, 4k60 hq, super 16, 6k super 35, the cinema menu, shutter angle, time code, streaming , baked in user luts for quick turn and a bunch more but you can get a great image out of Both. 4k60 HQ is a big deal to me.
@@MrMolotov69 I did not compare R5/R5C footage side by side but working with the R5C is so much more fun! It is a pro cinema cam! The R5 is just a camera that you can use for videography, with limitations! It‘s definitely worth the 500 Euro you have to pay more for it!
The Blackmagic doesn't have image stabilization, but something even better, actually. It records gyro movements to the Braw format, that can later be used to stabilize the footage, to your liking. So yeah, it's more a manual process, but does the same as IBIS. You are in power of the image stabilization. Another reason why you'd want this process, is that you might to use a third party as software, for the stabilization, that is way more accurate, than what a camera can do on the fly. But you still have the option to use the stabilization in the Braw footage.
BMPCC has stabilization using Gyro data. It's better than ibis in some scenarios since ibis also uses a gyro and accelerometer data on the fly, but with limitations of movement limits of sensor and processing latency.
Lol complaining about the mft crop is dumb. Just buy the right lense! You cant expect to be everything the same as full frame, its a different system. Full frame is not the be all end all. For apsc or mft users the numbers of dull frame lenses is confusing.
yes it is very very dumb , i keep laughing while watching . when thay say they're going 12-35 F2.8 , im like 'OKAY!' but next thay said '' and another 35-100 '' i was like "?????????" dumb dumb dumb
Most of your points are spot on but some aren't so solid... 15 Stops of Dynamic Range ain't exactly real Dynamic Range for sony... it's mostly software-driven... To take full advantage of the DR it would be best to use A software with a solid Color engine... definitely not Premiere. The way you spoke on Color Science and evaluated it... I'm not sure if that's a proper way to assess science.
Thank you guys so much for this open-minded review about all these bodies I was honestly saving for R5 being a beginner at night event Cinematographer and photographer. I knew about the issues like overheating but I was sold by that 8k thing and like Justice said ''if you shoot an entire 8k project this isn't the camera you would go for'' and that's absolutely right. Being most at work during night hours and under no light or less light environment, I think Sony won my heart, and thanks a lot to you guys TFM really helped me step up my game as a videographer and that's just based on the YT videos can't wait to afford the course and see how good ill become.
And it’s become a major pet peeve when these RUclipsrs post reviews but review them as if the camera is meant for Vlogging yourself in your bedroom and NOT for cinematic footage, and it’s like every time I try to find a good and affordable camera to buy these RUclipsrs only wanna talk about cameras that aren’t meant for cinema, I mean it doesn’t have to be a $20,000 cinematic camera body, but a 4K camera and reviewing for more than the need of creating RUclips content
Great video. One of the best comparison videos I’ve seen. I started out with a GH3 as my first camera. Then a GH5. I purchased the GH6 the day it was released. So far I’m very happy with it. I’ve been tempted by the alleged advantages of a full frame camera but I didn’t want to change to Sony or cannon because I had already invested in micro 4/3 lenses. My GH6 and lenses are all updated and I’m getting pretty good results with the auto focus. There are so many tweaks to the auto focus on this camera I think you can get pretty good results if you experiment enough for what you plan to shoot. That being said I will admit that I have little to no experience using Sony or cannon cameras, so maybe I would be blown away using one I don’t know 🤷♂️. But so far I’m quite impressed with improvements to the GH6 auto focus, I’m very happy with the camera and looking forward to the future firmware updates that are being announced.
I like such comparisons. But let's be honest: the lens is decisive. Angle of view, sharpness, colour fidelity, brightness, speed and precision of autofocus, weight, size and handling all depend on the lens. There are far more decisive differences than in the housings themselves. It is therefore better to look at the lenses first and then choose the right housing.
So you’re using the A7siii compared to the GH6? Wouldn’t it make more sense to compare it to the S1H? The GH6 is awesome for a micro 4:3 but the S1H is full frame.
for statistical consistency. when there is tie for first place, the remaining two should be assigned third and fourth place. not second and third place.
I follow several prominent channels that film weddings, real estate, etc on the BMPCC 6k Pro mounted on a medium size gimbal with excellent results. Overall a good presentation and review, but deff spend more time with a camera before judging it! Good work guys, keep it up
Really good comparison and conclusions. They are all good cameras. I'm a Nikon user so Im keeping my fingers crossed for the Z8. Im betting on it being a mini Z9 with trimmed back video codecs for £2500/£3000.

Ill say this was interesting. But these answers are highly subjective. I've shot real estate and events with my BMPCC 6k Pro and its fantastic.
Did you find a gimbal that you can use with it?
@@robreveryou can use any Ronin capable of carrying the weight, you just need a riser plate
For the Sony a7siii low light test, you should've set it to the 12,800 iso which is its second native ISO. It would've cleaned up the noise
Plus probably should test the fx3 over the 7sIII
@@men770d The fx3 and the a7s3 have the same exact sensor. There is actually no difference at all in image quality between the two. Anything regarding lowlight capabilities with the s3 applies to the fx3 as well. The only difference is the the exterior and the different features each have.
omg that drove me nuts! like how do you test that at 1/3 stop away from the 2nd native iso? and they seem like smart guys that know it too. weird.
@@sstteevveenn77 i know.
But they test the grip of all cameras. If it was the fx3, he would win this category too.
I love how people complain about the GH6 at 2000 but the a7iii is only decent at 12800
Wow, I’m disappointed by the number of mistakes.
Testing color science in the standard picture profiles instead of log...
Thankyou. The R5C was the elephant in the room...lol.
@@Aviciiz if you do post and grading you need to check both..
Lol touch screen
The dual iso at 12800 looks mushy. Sony is doing too much noise reduction.
The highest level of gh6 stabilisation is the "tripod mode" - it is deticated not to record movement - that's why your results were disappointing. Try the one stop lower mode and it will beat it's opponent's
I was wondering on the end chart how it was possible for any camera to beat the GH6 stabilization.
Panasonic provides one of the best Ibis.
You are correct that tripod mode is to take static handheld shot not moving
For real bro piss me off 😂
They're very Amateur to be honest should have done a little bit more research on each camera to get a real comparison
i said the same thing to myself. like how they really low-balled panasonic like that. ok..we get it...sony and canon..wooohoo. meat riders for those two brands but costs so much money and they use prime lenses!!!..expensive i love Panasonic. so wht if it isnt full frame..still gets the whole job done!!
This is the same thing I was thinking, comparing a Micro four-thirds sensor to full frames
Agreed
Right?
They knew what they were doing. S5 would've competed well against the others and at $1500, would've made the choice obvious.
I was also here for the S1H comparison - the most underrated camera on the market!
Exactly! 👍🏻 I have it on RS2 and it works perfectly!
@@Belamarimages yeah I used it on a shoot recently and it was fine on the rs2
Doesn’t even cost 50 dollars. A 200g counterweight will suffice. It even works with RSC2 ! And yea, BMPCC paired with Da Vinci is the bomb for colour grading: DaVinci Wide Gamut already beats Adobe hands down.
Yes, love it on the Ronin S with counter weight and added handles plus the tilta wireless focus system.
I use Gh6 and black magic 4K, very complimentary cameras for aby filming situation.
i am planning to buy a panasonic lumix model,, but im confused.. which one is better when it comes to lowlight video and battery life...the gh5 or gh6.. hope u notice my comment thanks..
@@mitchhifi9192 which is better?
@@BrellTebelin I prefer the GH6 over the bm4k better quality shooting
Nice video.
Just a few points -
Any other camera except for the alexa...
Dude, you're not getting 15.5 stops of dynamic range from the pocket 6k pro LMAO
@@MarkusFinholt Yes I am. Wide gamut color space + HDR wheels color grading + highlight recovery gives you that much. You can see it in the zones graph: 16 stops of latitude.
@@leebrandt8597 16 stops of laditude on the IRE scale doesn't mean the stops are useable.
You can balance the BlackMagic perfectly well on the Ronin, using counterweights for example.
I don't like Sony, but the A7SIII is probably the best all around camera,
but for film making, it has to go to blackmagic
for the beautiful footage you can get from it.
Should have added a Panasonic s5 or s1h, those are some of the most feature packed camera .

Give me Blackmagic over the rest all day long.
All it needs is auto focus.
10:54 Every sensor/lens is exactly what it is, you are just measuring it wrongly. The correct comparison is by angle of view.
In my opinion as an R5 shooter that has worked with A7Siii footage and needs to crank out content that requires color grading, nothing beats the color science performance and ease of color grading like the R5. Consequently this allows for a greater range of error to recover in post
Great video. I did some research and discovered that the Bmpcc 6K pro is fully supported and fits the DJI rack 3 pro
The BMPCC6K DOES fit on a gimbal (Ronin RS2 & Ronin RS3 pro). Also, it captures ibis internally allowing for very accurate post stabilisation.
I would ask ONLY one question at the end... What camera did you use to record yourself and make this video?
Haha all of them!

The Black Magic 6kpro actually works great on a Ronin S with a counter weight and added handles 💯🎥 add a tilta wireless focus and its a game changer.
No it was garbage

The BMPCC 6k fits perfectly on the Crane 3 s Gimbal…. No problems there…
I appreciate the effort in the video but your GH6 stabilisation test wasnt correct.

Blackmagic all the way 👌🏻
The one category not here and rarely thought about in reviews is the cost of changing systems.
I think it would have been better to compare with the r6, price wise and low light etc...
I still choose The EOS-R5,
I love the ergonomic design of EOS and Canon ecosystem of course.
What a phenomenal review. I'll go with the Panasonic Lumix GH6 it is credible how much you get for that price.
The black magic 4k fits great on a gimbal and costs a lot less.
You forgot to talk about Audio (or even talking about why you don’t talk about it). In my book that would be another win for the pocket 6K pro.
*NIKON Z9 HAS ENTERED THE CHAT*
also note - The difference in price between a Z9 and R5 is less than the difference between the GH6 and R5
"Panasonic is weird" so we can tell how this review is going to be. Not bias at all
One of the fellas shoots exclusively Panasonic and the other shoots with Panasonic part time, seems like Panasonic had a big advantage here.
panasonic never promote the youtube charlantans .these guys had to be paid for the products what they use ....for their daily bread maker....canon ,sony do paid prmotions.....nikon,pana do not do that much....
Are you Crazy 🤣
Yes you can put the Blackmagic 6k Pro on a Gimbal...
You and I had the very same head scratching.

You guys should have grabbed the Canon EOS R5 C. That's the true monster. I'm definitely planning on getting that one
I've seen footage from all those cameras, it's clear that the blackmagic pocket cinema 6k (or 6k pro) has more cinematic look than the others, if you want to make a film, it's the best option
Middle guy nods along reading the promoter when the others are presenting. Looks telepathic.
Thanks for the video, chaps. I think you should have featured the Canon R5C instead of the R5. It solves the problems within the R5 apparently. The R5 is basically history now. Cheers.
Thank you so much for this information. It gives me a better understanding. God bless
Funny most reviews and video makers I’ve seen rate Panasonic the best for camera menus! Same goes for IBIS! What’s up guys ?
Absolutely fantastic video and analysis! I'm so glad to finally hear what I've been saying from day one that the Canon R5 and the R6 have serious overheating issues when shooting in the higher frames rates and codecs. This is why I've stuck with the R. My arsenal also includes the A7S3, GH5, and the new Olympus OM1.
It's worth mentioning that the BMPCC 6K Pro/G2 and the whole range now have gyro stabilization so that isn't really a valid category to knock it anymore.
this video was done a year ago before that happened :)

I feel like these guys are just reading form spec sheets.
R5C is the best bang for buck hybrid camera for that does professional video

The Blackmagic doesn't have image stabilization, but something even better, actually. It records gyro movements to the Braw format, that can later be used to stabilize the footage, to your liking.
So yeah, it's more a manual process, but does the same as IBIS. You are in power of the image stabilization.
Another reason why you'd want this process, is that you might to use a third party as software, for the stabilization, that is way more accurate, than what a camera can do on the fly. But you still have the option to use the stabilization in the Braw footage.
BMPCC has stabilization using Gyro data. It's better than ibis in some scenarios since ibis also uses a gyro and accelerometer data on the fly, but with limitations of movement limits of sensor and processing latency.
you guys did the GH6 so dirty here. shame.
THE BEST TUTORIAL CHANNEL EVER ❤❤
Lol complaining about the mft crop is dumb. Just buy the right lense! You cant expect to be everything the same as full frame, its a different system. Full frame is not the be all end all. For apsc or mft users the numbers of dull frame lenses is confusing.
yes it is very very dumb , i keep laughing while watching .
when thay say they're going 12-35 F2.8 , im like 'OKAY!'
but next thay said '' and another 35-100 '' i was like "?????????" dumb dumb dumb
Yea what’s up with the image comparison? Didn’t you get a Lens that would have an equal focal length with the other cameras……?
I ended up going with the a7siii so far I love it the dual iso is insane, also loving yalls online class I’ve learned so much!! Thanks guys!
As others have already mentioned, you CAN put the BlackMagic 6K Pro on a Ronin S or RS 2. There have been videos about this for well over a year now.
Sony 15 stops DR are only in paper. Sony lies allot. The a7siii dynamic range is the same as r5 and blackmagic.
Get an R6 instead if you like canon - its better in low light and almost half the price with the same tech
Black magic is a superb camera and not meant for Vlogging. We are cool with the camera shaky and it not having autofocus
image is king!!
And it’s become a major pet peeve when these RUclipsrs post reviews but review them as if the camera is meant for Vlogging yourself in your bedroom and NOT for cinematic footage, and it’s like every time I try to find a good and affordable camera to buy these RUclipsrs only wanna talk about cameras that aren’t meant for cinema, I mean it doesn’t have to be a $20,000 cinematic camera body, but a 4K camera and reviewing for more than the need of creating RUclips content
why fujifilm xt4 not included? 😉

Same here
Same bro👍
Good video, but a couple of errors. The Blackmagic has Gyro stabilization, and it works great.
Very good video, really deep into details and really honest
So you’re using the A7siii compared to the GH6? Wouldn’t it make more sense to compare it to the S1H? The GH6 is awesome for a micro 4:3 but the S1H is full frame.
Another great thing about the pocket 6k is that it comes with a free key to davinci resolve studio
Great video, would have loved to see the Z9
It's crazy that Panasonic still hasn't sorted out their autofocus issue after all these years.
for statistical consistency. when there is tie for first place, the remaining two should be assigned third and fourth place. not second and third place.
I follow several prominent channels that film weddings, real estate, etc on the BMPCC 6k Pro mounted on a medium size gimbal with excellent results. Overall a good presentation and review, but deff spend more time with a camera before judging it! Good work guys, keep it up
It was baffling when it didn't fit on 1 specific gimbal for them to suggest it is incompatible with gimbals in general.
Sir what are your thoughts on canon r5c . My main goal is resolution for VFX work .So should I spend more on r5c or should I go with r5.
He never replies, no point of asking
R5C No Overheating 8k unlimited recording time hands down but cache is battery life is lower
R5C if it’s in your budget! It’s slightly better.
You’d want to have a beast of a computer with that canon codec
@@BobWilcox didn't got your point
Guys you look,, out of space for 3 men 😂
Really good comparison and conclusions. They are all good cameras. I'm a Nikon user so Im keeping my fingers crossed for the Z8. Im betting on it being a mini Z9 with trimmed back video codecs for £2500/£3000.
Not a chance for that much money. More like £3500-4000, I will be more high end than the z7ii so would need to be priced higher
@@airjaff depends on the specs - they need a camera in the £2500 bracket that is 10 bit and competes with the A74 and R6 in that price bracket. I see an opportunity for Nikon - who need a mid market winner
@@airjaff your comment shows the lack of market movement toward future from Nikon Z system. In 2 years it will be the least expensive with hybrid highest quality standard
Ill say this was interesting. But these answers are highly subjective. I've shot real estate and events with my BMPCC 6k Pro and its fantastic. It does fit on a gimbal and you can use pullers for focus. Auto focus is not my preference. For cinematic projects it's amazing. But like I said subjective.
