Rick had a great year, I played golf through my teens and early 20s until I hurt my shoulder and fell into a deep battle with alcohol and prescription drugs. Never had any thought of starting back until 1 of Rick's videos popped up on my channel. I watched and got the bug again. I bought a cheaper set of Callaway stratas and went to the course. Par on the 1st two holes and the wheels fell off. I was a 6 to 9 handicap in my prime and now I'm nowhere near that but getting better. Bought a used Ping G30 and a set of Sim2 irons and wedges with a hybrid. I'm rambling on but long story not so long, Thank you Rick for all that you've done for me and thousands of other people. If not for your video I don't think I'd have started back.
Golf is a saving grace no doubt about it. Cheers to you for all your achievements!
Wow, congrats on turning it around - im sure you can get back to the heights you were once at. I injured my shoulder a few years ago and it's never been the same, how is yours holding up? I went to physio for 4 months last year but it didn't really help.
Golf is another addictive substance, but a healthy one, if you let go of the bottle. I have three major addictions, golf, nicotine and alcohol in that order. Or maybe nicotine go first, but still. Urge to go golfing keeps one off the bottle for the night, - late hours cause no driving, if drunk. After a round a beer and sausage roll, if available, groceries and alc shop on the way home, wasted early in the evening, late afternoon aa’nd repeat!
If training period, then 2 to 4 hrs of golf practice before or after the round. In indoors season 4 hrs is the absolute minimum of hitting balls, short game or putting practice.

@alistairs148 it's OK, but I'm nearly 40 so I no longer drive it 300 or hit a 5 iron 200 I'm learning it though. A 270 drive is good enough

Merry Christmas guys. Thanks for all the outstanding content you've brought us this year. Just on the St Andrews being free on Christmas Day topic, that's correct. The Old Course was closed this year as Christmas Day fell on a Sunday, which you pointed out in this video. However, the other courses remained open for play. I played the New Course at first light with my cousin and his wife and we ended up joining up with another single player to make up a 4 ball. There were a few people out playing both the New Course and the Jubilee that we could see and the weather was perfect 🙂 First time I've played both the New Course and on Christmas Day and I loved it!

I have never had a pair of rain gloves, but, I have used just a regular pair of jersey gloves in the rain, and once they get wet, they grab the grip perfectly. And yes, you guys have had a great year! Can't wait for 2023!

Stand out channel here guys...coming back into golf after 10 year hiatus, im finding the content massively inspiring. I think the round with Iona is the episode I enjoyed most , but the Ricky F episode was definitely an eye-opener. I thought he would be a massive prick (in his earlier years he looked so out of place on a golf course), but how wrong I was! genuinely nice guy, super relaxed etc.....will definitely keep on following in 2023! Cheers!

Happy New Year to all your team. Love listening to the content while walking the dog. Completely agree with the comments regarding driver testing on your home course. Recently had a driver fitting for the new Titleist TSR at a range. They use proper golf balls but a real variety of age and condition. Trackman said I was hitting the TSR2 3 metres further than my old Mizuno ST200. $800 AUS is a lot for 3 metres 😜 Our Pro loaned me the same spec from his fitting cart and playing on the course with decent balls has made a huge difference. 15 metres longer and more fairways found. Keeping it in the bag as long as possible, but probably going to have to commit soon 😂. Would be interesting to get back on Trackman to see if the numbers back it up. 30 mins on a range day doesn’t give you much chance to really assess, especially if you don’t swing it well on the day.

I only wish that I had started watching your content much sooner then this year, but I am a bot old school and stayed away from computers as much as I could. We have a few of the bars decked out with a bunch of indoor golf Simulators bays where you can get drinks etc. and have like a party atmosphere here in Australia

Rick and Guy mentioned golf in South Korea and I thought it'd be great to see Rick and Guy take a trip over there and film a mini series there! Far-fetch collab I'd love to see is Rick and team linking up with Josh from JOLLY/Korean Englishman and maybe have him act as a translator in South Korea and maybe take Rick to have some Korean food he's never had and post that on their channel. I'm not sure what Josh's experience is with golf but maybe Rick could give him a lesson in South Korea, would make for great content for both channels I think! Keep up the great work, looking forward to the 2023 content!

Your equivalent to flight club is called “Five Iron Golf” here in the US. It’s like one giant man cave with tons of simulators, games, food, and a sweet bar
I know you have many comments about the break 75 at Crail golf society. I liked the good golf you and Iona played and the Crail golf course. The setting of the course and that it was not overly long, were factors that were very appealing to me. However, when I used the word “playable” about Crail, I meant it as a compliment, that that day it wasn’t a monster, that gives the average golfer no chance to score well and enjoy the experience. Some however took my playable comment as a slight to Crail (see John Wood’s comments).
Would love to see you out here in sunny Spain. Orihuela and Murcia have some fantastic courses all with a 30/40 drive of each other. They all vary. I love my course RCdG Campoamor which is a parkland course which has big slopes. Hopefully our greens will have recovered to their usual standard by spring. (Suffered infection and abuse)
Ring of Kerry in the South West of Ireland, Ballybunion, Tralee, Waterville and Dukes. Could pop down to Cork as well for the old head to top it off, serious locations and serious courses!
But did you break 75!? What an amazing once in a lifetime experience! Playing at the Masters (venue). And how good is that merch! I want the yardage guide please!
Hey Rick, just a suggestion/ idea for your channel/ podcast/ club review vids! Remember Top Gear back in the day they used to do have a wall rating the cars they reviewed cool or not cool, you and Guy should have a club wall cool or not cool wall. The criteria doesnt necessary have to be decided whether the club is the best but whether you or guy think its a cool sounding, long hitting, or even a great soft putter! I think listening you two debate whether certain clubs are cool would be class and even we could have our input! Hope you get to read this and like the idea! If you do, props to me id love some merch 😅 thanks! Nathan
ive been fitted a few times and my titleist fitting for my TSR 3 driver and 3 wood was my best experience it was a fitting and a lesson helping me release the club different.. my other experiences kinda sucked to be honest.. the fitter definitely makes a difference if they know what they're doing
There is a place called On The Green in Liverpool which is a golf bar. Rental sets and a simulator set up in a bar, pretty much what you were trying to explain earlier!

Talking about your Flight School thing... that does exist in golf. Plenty of simulator businesses like Five Iron Golf that have trackmans set up for people to come and play virtual golf and have some drinks.

If your looking for a golf version of Flight club try out The Avairy in Altrincham.. they have a trackman golf and interactive sports bays for not only golfers and kids..

HUKD golf in Bury is probably the closest to Flight Club for golf I'm aware of, beer and games on a sim. Tubes and Ange are promoting it

Just got a new Cobra Radspeed XB in the peacoat colors for Christmas and it's badass! In recent years the tech increase over a couple years is not worth the couple hundred extra dollars imo

In the states, the PGA superstore gives you a 30 day driver testing, if your not happy with it you can return it

I definitely prefer to play outside on a course than inside. I did like seeing the scores on the simulators to see how far I hit. That was the only thing I liked.
local public muni has 8 toptracer bays and I have to admit I poo poo the concept but its damn fun in the winter time.
How about addressing the following on a podcast Rick/Guy. You mentioned it's imperative your fitted for drivers since they cost around $600. Guy said indoor or driving range, hitting the particular ball your currently gaming etc.. This is my question to both of you. Everyone states getting fitted indoors is no where near the real world of playing golf. So, the driving range is the one to go with using some kind of launch monitor etc., Correct, or not ? Then we get into being fitted with using your current ball, so that throws out a range fitting. Again, right ? So your best advice guys as I'm about to get fitted for the new Ping G430 in January..
Favorite episode was the one with the email about putting the ball in the hole and not having the heart to tell the man he didn’t get a hole in one!

It’s been good, except for getting hit by a car on my motorcycle but even that ended up being a blessing. A painful one but a new look on life.
