42:19 I watch club reviews because you aren’t signed with one brand. Your reviews are honest and genuine b/c you don’t have an affiliation with the brand. Who believes when someone says “Brand X gave me these clubs in return for a review but I swear this his my honest review”? They won’t be as honest about the product if they risk spoiling the relationship.

I recent got back into golf this past summer. I pulled the old clubs out after being absent for ten years from the game. After this summer I decided to buy all new clubs. After watching other reviews and reading other reviews, your reviews hands down is the best. Like you said you give your opinion and then the facts on the clubs. I bought irons and a driver you did reviews on and everything you said about them was so accurate.you did not sell me, your info and knowledge did. Keep up the good work.

First off: congrats Guy. Welcome to fatherhood...
The reason I watch reviews is mostly because I like to keep up with what's up on the market (and the content). I'm in a position where I'm working on my swing before I go get fitted, and your reviews keep me up with what's up on the market, what type of driver or iron or ball may fit my game, so when I'm at the fitting I can say, "I'm looking for a player distance" or "I need a game improvement" because your feedback of a product means something to us. Not saying it's gospel, but I take your input, and input from Peter Finch, Average Golfer, etc, to see different opinions... But Rick Shiels is the first stop.

Guy, congrats on your wonderful new addition to your family. In response to Rick's question about why I watch his club review videos, I only buy clubs that are a few years old (3-5) to still get the newish tech but save on price. So for me, I store away your thoughts on the clubs until such time as I may purchase something. I live in Canada, and here in North America, there is a consumer protection organization called Consumer Reports, which is non-profit and reviews all sorts of consumer products in a non-biased way. Rick is the Consumer Reports of golf. Trustworthy and aimed at folks who do their due diligence before purchasing, whether it's the newest shiny object or, as in my case, an older model that you may have reviewed a couple years before.

I'm all for anyone with an opportunity to better their game, and their business. but as you know, the commitments you sign on for, don't always benefit you.
I tried both brands new clubs, and to be honest, the drivers are not geared to those who are entry or novice level "casual" players. to get the most from the clubs, you truly need to dedicate yourself to weekly range training , and swing instruction guidance. plus you need to have them fitted! 600 turns to 1000 for ONE CLUB!
but the fairway woods and hybrids are definitely awesome to use!
looking forward to more videos and reviews!

I watch the vast majority of club reviews from multiple creators, obviously including yourself, and honestly I don’t see myself buying any of them brand new. I watch the reviews because golf is my hobby so the equipment interests me, the tech side not only tells you a story about the product, it also helps increase my knowledge of what parts of the clubs do what, for example cg location influencing launch and spin. It’s also a talking point with my friends. Like “oh have you seen that new Taylormade driver with the red face!” There’s a lot more value in a club review video than just seeing and learning about a new product. Also gives us a guessing game as to what might being going in your bag next 😂

As a reviewer of Golf RUclips channels, I prefer to watch people other than scratch golfers or professionals play golf. It is more real to me to see people improve than it is watching someone shoot under par most of the time. I am interested to see what the deal with Callaway does to Good Good, but I have not been watching the videos with the pros. I enjoy the videos that Rick has done in the past with pros because they are fun and not very long.

  • @tylerpalmer8973

Love the podcast! Spot on about the RUclipsrs like Good Good driving sales way more than any pros. A pro could use a brick on the end of a stick and play well, lol. No one really cares what brand they're with. I can honestly say that my purchase of the LTDx LS had zero to do with any of the pros who play the LTDx. I can only name one or two, and I'm not a fan, lol. RUclips reviews were really the main reason I bought in, and I'm very happy with it.
I'm super happy with Good Good partnering with Callaway. I think they deserved a big collaboration like that and I honestly think that the support they'll get from Callaway will not only improve their golf content in terms of the fittings and game improvement, but the pro content is already proving to be super fun! Callaway was extremely smart with this deal.

    Hi Rick and Guy,
In answer to your question I watch the club reviews for a few reasons. The main reason is I'm very interested in the technology that goes into new clubs and I love to hear what manufacturers are doing to help us golfers. Also I respect all the effort that goes into making the videos which makes me trust Rick's feedback.
Congrats on 200k and especially to Guy for becoming a Dad

Great episode again gentlemen! @rick you could benefit from a bit of audio EQ'ing to make your voice sound a bit less muffled, more brisk.

Only downside is they might be more promotion oriented content but always great to see your fav content creators get paid to continue entertaining us

Your opinion means so much to me when I'm thinking of a new golf product because I know that you mean every word you say during the review.

The best thing about new equipment releases in Jan is that anyone looking to upgrade can watch the Pro's for 2-3 months. Wait and see if the equipment changes make any difference in performance.

    Congratulations on the baby Guy!
I watch the reviews because I’m new to golf and I genuinely want to learn what to look out for. On a very modest budget, I’m almost planning for the future - if something gets a good review now I know it might be something I can look into secondhand in years to come!
    Great video as always! Thanks!

Love the reviews...and I'm waiting eagerly for your new channel..I recently got back into the game and the clubs I had were..well, I'll call them very experienced. I've spent hours watching your reviews before I went for a fitting. Ending up hitting the ping g425 irons in part based on your review and once my numbers were shown I scooped them up. So I'm slowly upgrading my bag and currently I'm scrutinizing your driver reviews before I pick one. Thanks for your genuine reviews so far they haven't led me wrong

Thank you for your honest reviews

About the reviews, I feel as though people watch because of the atmosphere of a review video. It's the same reason as to why I watch car review videos from Carwow in the UK and Doug DeMuro in America. They are interesting to see "What's New" and "What's Changed", "Is it better or worse", etc. There's a why Marquise Brownlee and Unbox Therpy are HUGE channels and I'd say it has to mainly do with Seeing Something New which for some people then becomes a personal goal to obtain.

Talking about Pro V1. My college golf team moved from the strata to the pro-v1 and I’ve played that ball ever since. I’ll be honest I use the Kirkland ball a little more now, only because I don’t play as often and my game doesn’t deserve the higher end ball. But when I play to really play its the pro v1 for sure

I bought the PXG Gen 5 driver with Tensei White on sale for $299 US, which is a ridiculous deal given these new driver prices, and I absolutely love it. It's just as long as my Rogue SZ, but is more forgiving. $500 plus for a driver is just insane.

Rick, for me you are the Tim sebastian of HardTalk in Golf. And in these times, where everything is about sales, you build an outstanding brand yourself. I would love to see you focusing on the interviews and matches with names of the game. Maybe even caddies, managers, tour organization and so on... maybe you should sign with Netflix

I watch reviews because golf equipment is so expensive and I don’t live near where I can see them physically. It’s fun to watch testing of new equipment and get opinions without all the work.

I watch reviews to understand how is the industry developing, what technology is coming into the drivers, and as someone whom just started and got a new set of clubs whether these new clubs would fit me with how my swing is developing. I want a set of clubs that I can grow into and develop my golf, but that will suit my swing strength and weaknesses now
