I have a ‘23 BRZ myself and have loved every minute of it. Came from a supercharged FR-S and don’t feel the need to boost the new gen as I think the power is adequate. Do you have any plans for modding your GR? I currently have Spoon Rigid collars, STi springs, and just picked up a 4.3 diff.
Agree with everything you said. Fundamentally, I wanted something I could spin up on occasion without the threat of losing my license. The same goes with motorcycles: there is a point at which more actual power/speed becomes less desirable, when all we want to do is *feel like* we are driving something powerful, fun and fast :)
All some great points, Austin. Even though I'm looking at getting an MX-5 instead of one of the 86 twins, these are still a dying breed. Nothing else out there that's RWD, manual, and lightweight, at least not new. Hopefully more manufacturers will enter this space so we have more choice when looking for this type of vehicle.
I've had a GR86 for about 18 months now. I love everything about it, except the lack of power. It's just not quite enough. I'm strongly considering an FL5 Type R, but there are so many things I would miss about about the GR86. Mostly the small size/light weight and overall lowness to the ground, RWD and the styling. If only they would make a GR86 with the Turbo 3cyl of the GR Corolla.
I went from an ap1 s2000 to a gr86 and for the price new nothing really compares. Spending type r money I'd much rather have a couple year old m2 or supra. I'd even take the gr86 with a turbo or super charger over the type r. Just never vibe with fwd cars.
100%. Slightly more fun to drive than the 86 but after 140k hard miles the reliability wasn't there for a daily. I'm super happy with the 86 for a fun daily, canyon and occasional autox car.
Great review! I totally agree with your sentiments in this video.
Thanks!

I bet that FRs was a lot of fun!
Fun car.. Hope you track it!
What happened to the supra?
They are a lot of fun!
If you want to boost it try, greddy or HKS turbo/ supercharger they have sick performance and guaranteed to give you that edge needed.
Thanks for the heads up!
I want one. But really worry about the RTV ticking bomb
I think it will be okay

I get that. Supposedly that may be coming!

Did you get the email to register for your complimentary GR track day?
Yeah
As a street only car, the oil starvation on right hand turns should be okay right?
I think so but I’m not a Subaru or Toyota carried spokesperson.
Hope you were able to avoid the markups, Toyota dealers have been brutal on these.
They have been brutal. It’s why it took me a couple of years to find them
3:20 370Z, and if you cry that you must get a used one, that's your first world problem.
I don’t follow
Next buy is a Jeep Rubicon😁
For me or you?
