Owner here of a Fuji white 2013 HSE model and could also throw my 2cents worth in here. These vehicles are underrated. Land Rover, in my opinion, didn't market this LR2 nearly as much as they could have. From the true capability that these cars are born with, to the uniqueness that they have, it really stands in a league of its own. Yes, pitted against the Q5, GLK & X3, the LR2 doesn't stand much of a chance with the market choking on other brands advertisements. The LR2 is a loyalists vehicle. while the other brands show how shiney and pristine those models can be, Land Rover has no problem showing how beautiful a muddy LR2 can be.
I have the exact same model 2013 HSE, it has a reverse camera as standard. The offroad capability is outstanding and will outperform most other softroaders by a mile.
is it 7 seater
@@abhijithmahesh763 nope, just the standard 5 seater
@@starbattlecar ok thanx
Im 19 with my own LR2 2015 looks almost just like this one and white too. I love it and have worked so hard for it. Its great and decently reliable. I live in Colorado and some deep snow is hard because of the clearance and probably my limited driving skills and sometimes feet of snow. I live on dirt roads and it is FANTASTIC for that. Very expensive on the parts. If possible get most parts under warranty and get your cheap check ups as much as possible. Thanks for making this video:)
Sure thing. Thanks for your input!
Compared to the BMW X3 and X5, the LR2 is more comfortable on road and far more capable off. Had all three cars, and the LR2 was actually the most reliable, too. BMW electrics are a nightmare these days,
Manual or automatic?
@@georgemasaka6488 the auto even in the latest 2014 model Is very old and slow.. more enjoyable in the manual version. i had both, 2007 manual and 2014 auto, even if the 2014 Is so improved in the exterior and interiors the old tech auto made me Always think of the manual 2007
As an owner myself, this review is quite misleading. The LR2 is in every way as capable as every other LR in the range, more so in some situations as the overhangs, approach/departure angles are better. The only area where it is outperformed is in very challenging situations such as rock crawling, or very deeply rutted tracks where it’s underbody clearance may be an issue as it doesn’t have air suspension. However THE most common failure on other LR’s is the air suspension. The LR2 is the most reliable vehicle LR have ever produced, yet still provides extreme capability, comfort and modest running costs.
Thanx for the info Ben. Which one is more reliable between manual or automatic gearbox?
The off-roading ability is very understated in this review. It will go anywhere a Defender will. Seriously. Wade depth etc is identical. I think the reviewer needs to do a little more reasearch and maybe actually take it off road. Owner here.
@Ben Davis Stock
Didn’t like these at the time... but they’ve grown on me! Good video Mike.
Love my freelander 2 loads of extras goes where you want when you want
What do you think of the 2015 LR2? A local Chevy dealership of mine has one for $15,500 with (approx) 84,000 miles, and I'm thinking about buying it and sucking up (pun intended) the high gas bill. I'm also thinking they'll go lower just to get it off their lot since it's not a Chevy. Thoughts?
Found a good deal on an '08 but I really wanted a 4runner or jeep for summer hiking outings in areas you need a 4WD. Thoughts?
Well done.
Can you please let me know which LR2 Landrover is considered the best successful made from 2008-2015???? I have a 2008 but it's time to go but l want to replace it with another, I've heard that the 2015 were not the best!!!!!
The common issue is the Purge Valve. When it goes it trips the Check Engine Light, then they tell you Oxygen Sensors instead. I have 265k Miles with NO Warning Lights on, 24mpg on Regular Gas with the Ford/Volvo 3.2 V6. Change the oil, wash it and keep it at Highway Speeds and it is the Unicorn of Land Rovers...
does the HSE have diff locks?
M. O.G. No , it has a Land Rover/haldex electrónic locking diff which works very good.
I bought an LR2. In 2 years I spent $7800 on repair and it’s back in the shop.
I’m pissed and going to suit Land Rover for all my money back I spent on the car and repairs. It has less than 120k miles. It should not have these problem unless it was deliberately done by the manufacturer
Is it reliable though?
Well its a Land Rover so probably not at the top of the pack but I'd guess because this is quite a bit less sophisticated than other LR models that reliability will be slightly better.
Owner here - the answer is yes. Probably the most reliable modern Land Rover. The Germans helped make this one :-)
Yes!
Unless some idiot in a car wash decides that it is good idea to "clean the engine with gasoline"
Thanks to him, the alternator broke...
Does the LR2 take 87 fuel?
Yes.
So what year is this model? It has 2013 upgrades?
Oh o heard it at the end. 2013 model
He said it at the beginning as well...
So what the Difference between FreeLander and LR2.
Freelander was the first gen and LR2 was the 2nd gen. Overall the same vehicle but some nice upgrades and enhancements for the LR2.
So why is it in America it’s called the LR2 and in the UK it’s called the FreeLander just wondering.
@@doom2469 i would think its because the feelander name was not a good selling point in the usa. Some might say that its because the LR2 is Gasoline, not Diesel, and its slightly bigger
I have the 2014 HSE SD4 model
Did you still own this? How is it so far after a year?
@@blessheart2348 yes still I kept the vehicle...
Thank you. I just got a used one, 140k km. Hope the maintenance and repair will not cost me an arm and leg. So far, im loving it.
