  • Here’s a review of my wife’s 2009 Land Rover LR2. I’m going to show you some of the quirks of this vehicle and answer the question is this type of vehicle worth it for me.

    Thanks for sharing! I have a 2008 lr2 HSE Love it. I bought it three years ago with 108k now 160k. Nothing major. Pulley replaced by dealer. $400 for brakes.$110 synthetic oil changes, those keys are expensive I bought replacement off eBay and found a locksmith will cut for me for$300. They are soo expensive but it hasn't left me stranded and I traveled to Ohio and in the southern states. I had to get a rebuilt muffler bc Land Rover was out but $250 can't beat it!

    I agreed with you, it is pretty reliable mechanical wise if you do all maintenance on time because of LR2 share powertrain with Volvo XC60 3.2L. you can refer to Volvo forum to get a better picture. Also, that means you can find a lot of parts/tutorial that branded by Volvo half price or less than that of land rover if you want to DIY.

    Thanks for the car review, I have a 2009 SE Si6 bought in 2013 with 100,000 Klms on it, now has 150,000 klms. The engine is designed by volvo and built by ford, so you can use a lot of volvo parts from the 3.2 ltr XC60's and XC90's of the same era. Something to be aware of is Land Rover say a lot of the drive train fluids are "FOR LIFE" whilst volvo say the fluids have a finite service interval. I did all the fluids in the gearbox, the transfer box, the haldex electronic rear clutch and the rear differential and it made the car a lot lot quieter to drive. Replacing the o ring that seals the vacuum pump to the engine cost me $3.00 aus from a hydraulics supplier ( the land rover kit is over $100 aus ). So as long as you have a bit of mechanical know how it is possible to save a shed load of money on servicing. I have got 7.5 ltr/100 km highway cruising so as long as you are light footed its pretty economical fuel wise. As regards the key fobs I have seen a video on youtube showing how to get it apart but I have also seen on one of the forums that the fobs are charged whilst docked and driving so I swop my two fobs over regularly.

    Thanks for putting this up. I plan on getting a 09 LR2. But I was definitely taken back by the fob being 500$ and the engine lowballing at 12k. I really hope you continue to do videos as I just subscribed. ✌🏾

    Expect to spend $500 at any car dealership including KIA, Ford any dealer, engines are $500 to $1000, this is a Volvo 3.2

    Helpful insight for the DIY maintenance. Never mind not my car type to work on when needed.

    Picked up a 2013 HSE model, 4cyl turbo. Was very skeptical but after a drive for an hour and staring at the fuji white paint...I decided to pull the trigger. Only 44k original miles and kept in fantastic condition. I will say that seating position is amazing, the cabin is airy and ride quality is above what I expected. Read reviews on the 4cyl turbo and it seems people prefer these over the I6, not sure why but probably less complicated. Overall, 7/10 so far!

    Only time i would take it to a dealer is for the fluids but not the engine oil ( do it myself ) but for brakes and suspention componiants, and shop can do it all, at half the price of the dealership

    I have a 2008 HSE with 185k Miles. I love it, some minor issues here and there. A big issue was the transfer case at about 170k miles. I believe it was caused by using rubbish tyres. They still look great, I have taken care of her. Make sure to treat them nicely with maintenance and you will be ok.

    Howdy, wife drove one while visiting and loved the ride/drive on a 2010 LR2. THE DIFF'S have been rebuilt. The seller wants 6k for it and it will need tires in near future. Any suggestions to check before buying it? Your video was honest and yes, they hv expensive tastes for parts, but how bout service like oil and other normal stuff....is it ok?

      @@Jen281 yes ma'am we did. SEEMS OK, MECHANIC LOVED US GET'N 1 CAUSE IT WILL PROB.KEEP HIM BUSY. PARTS ARE HIGH AND SOME ARE ALREADY DISCONTINUED( LIKE THE KEY REMOTE DOCKING STATION) BUT IT'S ZIPPY AND HAS GOOD BONES TO IT.

    Go to Atlantic British for your parts and do the maintenance yourself. Period. Any engine can be rebuilt. No matter the make. There are lots of these 3.2 litre engines in many Volvo's. The Swedes rebuild these engines on a regular basis blindfolded.

    You said you put 255/60/19 on your LR2? I can’t find any all terrain tires either. All I can find are cooper 255/55/19. Will they fit my 2009 LR2 HSE without any issues ?

    • @ventregarage3002
      @ventregarage3002  5 лет назад

      I can’t tell you for sure, because maybe yours is different, but mine fit with no issues and a 255/55 would be slightly shorter.

      Ventre Garage I’m assuming that my vehicle is same as yours. Mine is all stock 2009 LR2 hse. I’m not mechanically savvy with vehicles so Im going to take a shot and throw on some 255/55/19’s unless you have any last warnings.

      Update . I found some AT tires through Yokohama. The geolander g015’s. They come in the exact stock size (235/55r19) for the 09 LR2 . They look great too.
