    I have had the pleasure of owning the LR Free lander 2 HSE for last 4 years. Can unequivocally say that it’s a pleasure to take on my highway drives with family and luggage . More than capable of taking any off road punishment you might throw it’s way. The terrain response system is truly magical. Once had the right reer tyre skid (due to my oversight) and dangle over a bridge. To make matters worse the wheel was stuck over a huge wet water pipe. I thought I was a goner. Got off inspected the situation. Simply engaged the terrain response system to grass and snow as that mimicked the slippery situation I was facing with green moss making the huge water pipe very slippery over which my right tire was dangling and stuck. The LR simply transferred power and traction to the remaining three tires and eased over the huge water pipe obstacle with no fuss whatsoever. Can say that from that day onwards I became a true LR fan for life.

    Hello Barrie,
    I found another Freelander 2 HSE 150hp from 2013 with a full service history, from 11.2023 to 12.2023 all done in Land Rover, the car has 250.000km on the clock, it drives smooth, all good but I don’t know if the LR oil change intervals include rear differential and haldex unit change.
    Cheers,
    Stefan

      @@BarrieCrampton Haha that's a good saying. It's probably true considering the outback can consist of some intense muddy off roading.. But I don't need to do heavy off roading and the land rover provides the good looks, comfort and amazing interior that i need. Plus I've put a deposit down on a 2013 turbo petrol version which only cost $20,000 Australian dollars. Now thats a bargain.. Can't get a decent land rover for that price. Keep making the awesome videos by the way 😊😀

    The key goes in the slot on the dash right hand side of the steering wheel
    I'm on my second Freelander SD4 and never got anywhere near the mpg claimed
    But I love it it's like a mini Range Rover it is a genuine off roader , I did the Eastnor Castle testing track and it goes where a defender goes just slower
    I now have a Metropolis model and trust me it has more kit than the one your in I just love it

    • @a320nick
      @a320nick 2 года назад

      @David Cutters: I am in the process of buying one. Can I assume that your experience with MPG could be a reflection on the type of driving you do, line the Eastnor Castle testing track? I was planning on just keeping it on the road instead of off road.
      I managed to get around 70mpg over time, out of my BMW 320 Diesel Sport, but averaging 60 MPG.
      Cold and around town nothing is economical usually, higher revs, lower gears, but at 2,000 RPM and below in the cruise I was hoping to eek out a few more MPG than those advertised, by gentle driving. Already it's supposed to do 48mpg and that's better than an Astra petrol automatic which averages 43.3 - so I will be aiming for 49 51+ MPG. Fingers crossed.

    • @russjam121
      @russjam121 Год назад

      Not on this model. The key slot is in the lower spec models and has a different style key. The one barrie was driving has the more modern "range rover" style key and doesn't have a slot. Which is also better as with that key you can change the battery easily unlike the other key where you need to unsolder it and resolder the new one.

    • @russjam121
      @russjam121 Год назад

      @@a320nick most who say they don't get the mpg tend to have a heavy right foot. As the mpg stated is easily achievable. The only other factor is the area you live and what the terrain is like as if it's a hilly area then your mpg may suffer then also but in general it should be fine. I did a long test drive the other day in the one I've just bought and it's the top spec metropolis model. I reset the mpg monitor and did a mix of dual carriageways and town roads on pretty flat terrain and I got back and had a mpg of 39.8 mpg and I did boot it once to make sure it was responsive. So it is achievable if you keep the lead out of your foot.

      HSE Lux or Metropolis do that’s the highest spec. The Metropolis is basically the HSE Lux just the last of the top spec FL2’s. My advice is go for either nothing less & try & get the 2013 onwards not sure why this 62 plate has the latest interior maybe some were done early but again go for the same dash as this main differences are the centre of the dash with the dials. I have a 2013 absolutely love it & plan to keep it until I retire in 16 years !

      that's not a feeling i get, feels like you could keep going for ever, only yesterday I was asked to value a car with 245,000 miles on and still going strong, if they were unreliable we wouldn't sell them

    • @russjam121
      @russjam121 Год назад +1

      No. Some of the land rovers have common expensive issues. granted. However the Freelander 2 is different. If the maintenance is kept up together then these cars are bulletproof. I've done extensive research when looking for a land rover product in owners forums and various other sites and independent reviewers and the Freelander 2 is the best. Even Most independent land rover specialists always say if you want pretty much trouble free motoring and a car that could easily do 200-300 k miles and still be going strong then the freelander 2 is that car as it's a car they don't see too often (apart from routine maintenance jobs).

      It's a optional extra because if it's not important to the person who spec'd the car then it's just another electrical thing to go wrong. Nice and simple manual tailgate with no electronic struts to fail and just simpler gas struts that can be replaced for under £30. Perfect 👍
