- New video! This time around I'm going over Goku and Vegeta's rivalry. What it was in the beginning, how it changed overtime, and what the take away was for the audience. Lowkey, kind of wanted to add 'A.K.A this why you shouldn't downplay Goku's development people!' to the title but decided against it :p

Props Buddy! Easily one of the best DB analysis video on RUclips. After the mess that Mistarefusion made in his DBD series, I really needed a video like this. People should really watch your videos instead of these big clout youtubers who just have cool editing, unfunny sarcastic jokes and same 2-3 points to back their points which the entire fandom uses. I have also thought of their rivalry the same way, first 2 arcs are about Goku becoming more like saiyan due to Vegeta and last 2 arcs being Vegeta becoming more like Earthlings due to Goku so overall they still help each other in becoming the person they are at end of the story despite not being active "rivals". Keep up the good work bro 👍

Again, I don't mind mistarefusion, even though I disagree with him, since he's essentially doing what I'm doing, just sharing our perspectives, but yeah more positivity in the fanbase about the original series would be nice. 😅

Nice Buddy! This is such a cool and detailed analysis of Goku and Vegeta rivalry and I had a general understanding of there rivalry but you have opened up my eyes a little more as I thought in DBZ it always felt like a one sided rivalry opposed to super. “Keep up the good work”.

Good analysis. What i have noticed that DB RUclipsr with less subs. Has studied and understand Dragon Ball. The Characters especially. I like this, because Geekdom101 and Saiyan scholar are mostly bashing without checking the panel twice. They are still good RUclipsrs, but i feel like they need to do more research.
I feel like all of it really boils down to is personal perspective and how others approach the art tbh. Everyone's different and hearing different perspectives will always broaden an outlook on a piece and flesh it out. Especially a charitable one I feel. Which is why I feel more people should talk about what they love rather than what they dislike but that's just my own personal preference.
I actually like geekdom too and don't mind what he has to say about the series because, from what I've seen, he does understand and love it. Anything he doesn't like or thinks is bad is just stuff he'd generally think is bad in any work he's not overly negative about the original, again from what I've seen. It's his perspective and considering everything he's done it's def an informed opinion. I don't really know saiyan scholar :P
I do think though that a general perception of the series has tainted people's view of it. I.E the Goku is a bad father debate, Goku only cares about fighting, Goku doesn't develop, Gohan is ruined, the boo arc is just obviously bad, etc. I feel like these have REALLY peppered the outlook of the series in a really bad way and some people just cling onto them without trying to see things differently. They don't necessarily have to but its really taken hold of the fanbase and I'm kind of tired of the same overly negative one sided discussions and points lol
@@shadowhugger2860 True. The Buu saga is 8,5 or 9 for me. Thank you for explanation about perspectives, but mostly fans only talk about how they see it when they were a kid. Tfs made the fanbase much worse with these jokes. The saiyan scholar comes with some good points, but mostly he is somethings nit-picking.
@@LowkeyRJ. TFS makes me sad lol cause I know the people that made it like the series in their own way but they've 100% worsened the perception of it too. When they weren't doing that though they were pretty funny lol

Is it really a rivalry? Gokus goal is to improve himself while vegetas goal was to surpass goku
I used the term rivalry because I felt that was a fitting enough description of their relationship. Even if it doesn't exactly fit. I was going to call the video 'the lesson in Goku and Vegeta's Dynamic' but felt it was too broad. :P
Goku's overall goal is to best himself first and foremost yeah but he did want to prove himself against Vegeta by the end of the Saiyan arc and the Namek arc & like I said in the video that completely shifted by the Cell arc. So I don't really know how to describe it but rivalry was a fitting enough term imo :P
Vegeta as a prince, trying to be the alpha saiyan by beating Goku, while Goku just seeks strong opponents and he wants to improve to be stronger than them, however in case a stronger person appears, Goku admits it much easier if he is not strong enough, and willing to learn from this individual, even tho he wont get to this conclusion till he gone full power. Vegeta on the other hand really hates to be bested, and never steps back even when he knows the enemy is far above him, thanks to his pride, hardly accepts advices from opponents.

Im reading these comments, and all I can say is if there's a thoughtful DBZ video-essay narrated with a mid-range microphone using the manga as its source, you should probably accept their pronunciation of the word 'Saiyan'.

The way he says Saiyan really pissed me off and clicked off after 2 minutes
One of the things i feel like dbs did right was that vegeta and goku felt on par for 99% of the anime and technically vegeta was stronger than most of it. It wasnt just one sided.
Edit: I feel like it overall was a good call bringing vegeta back to life because it just gave him more depth and topped off his character and basically completed his whole dbz development.
They do realize that it's always a "One up thing" So there will never be a Stronger one.
Difference is... Goku is ALWAYS one upping himself so he's Always winning.
Vegeta is competing against old discarded forms/ levels of a past Goku.
It's like Goku is paving the way through a Forrest at a top level speed-- powering through brush , rocks, trees and the daunting task of uncertainty and the unknown...
Vegeta is just trying to match the speed of Goku but without any of the trials and tribulations of "paving the way through uncharted watters"
It's interesting and all but not really a rivalry.

I get it. But I feel like your saying it “correctly” to prove a point. Like yes you have great background knowledge…but we all say “Say-Yan”. The dub says Say-Yan. You taking away from the content.

I love your videos, but the constant pronunciation of saiyan as sigh-en...
It's what it is :P I do alternate between the two occasionally but stuck with just saying 'cyan' for my vids since that's the way I've mostly been pronouncing it at the time. I've legitimately never heard it pronounced that way, but that's pretty interesting to know. I don't know how I missed cyan... Still, I didn't intend to make fun of your pronunciation of anything, it was just the first time I've heard anyone say it that way.
@@themadmystic1688 DB is a big series so I get why some people may not be familiar with certain stuff. I know you didn't mean anything bad by it that's why I responded lol. I've gotten that complaint a lot lately so I just ignore the ones that are weirdly aggressive about it.
