Oozaru Vegeta defeated Goku in a 1 on 1 fight. Also, out of 3 fights with Goku, Vegeta never lost. It's just that Goku is the main character. He is pathetic and does not look like a real warrior. He cries when his parents send him to Earth and thereby save him, he is found by the kind grandfather Gohan and raised, he makes friends, Master Roshi, King Kai,etc. Vegeta was enslaved by Frieza from the age of 5 and did not cry, but survived in difficult conditions, even though Frieza's soldiers (Zarbon, Dodoria, Cui, Ginyu Force) and Frieza mocked him. Vegeta made himself. And also personifies the perfect warrior. Either you kill your enemy or he will kill you. You have to be a realist, not a dreamer like Goku. Vegeta is a good tactician as well as a smart warrior. Goku just hides behind Toriyama and that's it. What can we say if Goku is both a bad father and husband. He thought weddings were about food, never kissed his wife and didn't spend time with his family. He forgot about Gohan's existence before the Tournament of Powers. Gohan is generally raised by Piccolo. Even after being dead for 7 years, he only returned to fight in the Tournament. He didn't care about Goten's birth and missed the event. In the English dub, Goku is a hero, but in reality he is not. He just wants to fight stronger opponents. And he releases the villains only to fight them again. Goku doesn't care about anything else

As we see in his mentorship of Cabba, his reliance in Goku at the end of the ToP, even the way he goes abou atoning for what he did to the Namekians during the Moro arc, even his regret when he tries to kill Broly (compare to telling Nappa they don't want Saiyan hybrids running around that are stronger than them) that he's going to reach magnanimity at the End of Z when he's Chillgeta. He knows his worth and has the right ammount of pride.
Also his speech to Jiren about arrogance and Pride.
