Bro didn’t use ultra instinct when talking bout instincts but ginyu taking his body was a good example
You’re right
The video is about Dragon Ball Z, not Dragon Ball Super. Goku’s characterization is notably different in DBS than it is in DBZ. As you may recall, there is no Ultra Instinct in Dragon Ball Z. :)
Well done. You touched on aspects of Goku's character that people often overlook.
I've come to think Goku embodies more traditional Chinese virtues than Japanese. Perhaps not what people expect given DB is a Japanese anime.
@@eudaimoniaacademy1 Is this video based on real Goku or Funimation dub?
@@Breakaway-ic5gj I'm only familiar with the dub, so I can't speak to differences between the dub and the Japanese.
@@eudaimoniaacademy1 The japanese dub or Kai Goku are quite different from the Funimation dub. You should check them out too, and maybe then you can make a comparison video between the philosophies of real Goku and Funimation Goku it'd be awesome
He really did
this video could've easily been twice as long, and i would've still watched the whole thing. nicely done.
Goku and Aragorn are the ultimate male role models. I'd also add Spider-Man.
Spider-Man, yes.
Piccolo? I feel like it would be similar to the Vegeta video, but different enough since Piccolo was born knowing he needed to avenge his father, then slowly became good through the virtue of platonic love for Gohan.
You should do the philosophy of majin buu it would be very interesting and fun😅
Haha Majin Buu's philosophy wouldn't go much further than "You look tasty, I make you chocolate"!
@@eudaimoniaacademy1 then maybe after Vegeta you could do Mr satan or Hercule nobody really talks about his character and has a lot of things about him that are very interesting because I tell you I went from hating him in the cell are to Loving him in the next so that's an idea you can do for a video Im enjoying your videos too keep up the good work.
Now that would be a insane video
@@eudaimoniaacademy1he makes for a perfect parallel to Goku though ironically, in the end Goku took pitty on buu bc he could see the child-like personality behind the evil. As if to say, this is the intended objective of Kakarotto had he never met Gohan. Where buu had the misfortune of Babidi. They both emerged from a pod. Only buu gave full vent to his purpose and destroyed the earth where Goku learned to live and thrive in it in contrast. What does Goku do the moment the menace is reincarnated, immidiatly scouts him out after a decade long gap always remembering him on the back of his mind. Remember this is the guy who forgot his wife and is a borderline aloof hermit.
It's also interesting to point out the butterfly effect, Goku's deterent plan in the climaxing Cell saga was not to be wished back because catastrophy has a way of following him, in his words, "ironically accomplishing the mission he was sent forth to accomplish". Each arc that threatend earth in Z could be traced back to himself. The sayans came to retrieve Kakorotto, Frieza threatened earth to avenge himself, the decaying RR army built the androids for the sole purpose of opposing Goku, and finally Buu.
Despite being a calamity born eons ago, he would not have reawakend were there not thriving life and fighters such as in the original time line, in Trunks timeline, Babidi never accomplished reawakening Buu, bc the androids had erased much of the earth life as well as the only people who could supply enough damage energy the Z fighters. In desperation, he had pushed his plans back much longer in Trunks timeline.
In the altered time line, however, Goku came back for just one day and that was enough to completely skew the odds in Babidi's favor. His fight and Vegeta aswell as their means of dealing with threat by having one on one fights, gave Babidi everything he needed. So, although much of Goku's works were good, he viewed his countless fortunes of evading his destiny and death as karma's means of bringing ever more horrific calamities to counter the initially unintended fortunes Son Goku brought, to bring the Universe to equilibrium. And the final manifestation of this wheel was a literal demon child, whooo: likes to eat, pound his chest like a monkey, and fight. A literal reverse Son Wukong.
This is such an exciting series
So far I've seen both perspectives i loved both ❤
Your hard work payed off my friend, keep it up 📜
However Goku did change during his battles, becoming more mature and a master of his own.
Yeah he does seem subtly wiser and more mature eh. Fair point.
Really enjoyed watching. I like pop culture so this heroes philosophy channel is 😎

amazing video yo. YOu gotta do piccolo

Goku isn't a hero. The first point to consider is that the dubbed version portrays Goku as more of a heroic figure than he actually is, especially when compared to the manga. The second point is that Akira Toriyama himself stated that he didn't intend for Goku to be a heroic character. In fact, Goku is a selfish person. For instance, he spared Vegeta in the manga/anime not out of mercy, but because he wanted to fight Vegeta again. Goku doesn't save people for their sake, but rather to fight stronger opponents and make himself stronger.
My argument is that Goku is good-natured and is a creature of instinct. So I agree with what you say. Maybe he is just an accidental hero.
@@eudaimoniaacademy1 I disagree with the statement that Goku is a hero, if we are using the archetypal hero definition. For example, Goku was the one who initiated the Tournament of Power VS. the other universes. Some might argue that it would have happened anyway or that they would have been erased by Zeno, but I disagree with that as well. Goku had a connection with Zeno beforehand, and they both share a similar childish disposition. I doubt that Zeno, who acts more like a child than Goku, would have done anything drastic. What kind of archetypal hero would risk the erasure of his own universe just to fight in the Tournament of Power? This is not the only example. There are others, such as not killing Dr. Gero and the Androids. No classical hero would do that. I'm not saying that Goku doesn't do anything good. He does, but that's more of a byproduct of his selfishness that works out for him in the end, rather than failing him.
While I agree that the dub makes Goku seem more of an archetypal hero than he is, and it KILLS me to see the dubbed takes that don't present Goku properly, you GREATLY misinterpreted the situation with the ToP. The Zenos were discussing how there are too many universes and chose all but 4 of them to be destroyed. The 4 universes were to be spared from erasure due to high mortal ratings. They had both the most scientifically advanced civilizations and planets as well were peaceful and balanced.
U7 as well as all the others in the ToP were going to be erased- that is until Goku naive and just excited to test his skills and strength reminds the Zeno of the tournament. Zeno then explains the U6 vs U7 tournament to the other Zeno and they both decided that this is a good opportunity to spare an extra universe, and test that universe.
Goku did NOT put anyone at risk- he is the reason anyone had a chance at survival in the first place, much more alongside 17, the reason everyone survived.
As for Dr Gero, being totally honest the ENTIRE team except for Krillin decided they'd rather fight the androids instead of take care of Gero 3 years early. Goku was the last to speak up saying "I agree, besides Dr. Gero didn't do anything bad, yet". A sentiment shared with Beerus and Whis later on when they discovered who Goku Black is but couldn't do anything until Zamasu showed his ill will.
Great content
I'm glad you enjoyed!
Goku is generally benevolent but I wouldn't call him good.
Kind of weird to use the old dub stuff since those lines are often times something totally made up and meant to make him more of a super hero. Even the Japanese version makes him more heroic than Toriyama intended.
Fight go brrrrrr
🤣
Do Rimuru, Naruto, Itachi, Luffy, and Ichigo
I have much work to do! 🫡

Goku basically follows hindu philosophy
That’s actually not true. He’s more western philosophy than Hindu.
Remember the episode in Super when he played baseball? He wasn’t playing cricket.
